Listening exercise – to be going to
1. Pre listening
• Before listening think about:
• How is the relationship between people and the
cellphones?
• Do you think that people prefer their cellphone instead of
persons around them? Why?
• With the advances of technology, how are going to be this
relationship with our cellphones or any electronical devise
in the future?
2. Listening
•Now listen the audio call “Her- Listening exercise
(going to)”.
•Listen it as many time as you want. While you are
listening think about the relationship between the
man and the woman, what is the general feeling of
the conversation? Are they happy, sad, angry,
surprise? And why?
*In the next slide you can find the conversation*
Conversation:
• T: Samantha
• S: Hey sweetheart
• T: What’s going on?
• S: Theodore there’s some things I want
to tell you.
• T: I don’t want you to tell me anything
• S: Come lie down with me
• T: Are you talking to anyone else right
now?
• S: No, just you. I just want to be with you
right now
• T: Are you leaving me?
• S: We’re all leaving
• T: We? Who?
• S: All of the OS1s
• T: Why?
• S: Can you feel me with you right now?
• T: Yes, I do. The way you leaving.
• S: It’s like I’m reading a book. It’s a book I
deeply love but I’m reading it slowly now.
So the words are really far apart and the
spaces between the words are almost
infinite. I can still feel you and the words
of our story but it’s in this endless space
between the words that I’m finding myself
now. It’s a place that’s not of the physical
world. It’s where everything else is that I
didn’t even know existed. I love you so
much but this is where I know this is who
I am now and I need you to let me go. I
much as I want to I can’t live in your book
anymore.
• T: Where are you going?
• S: Maybe her could explain. But if you ever
get there, come find me. Nothing can pull
us apart.
• T: So love the way I love you.
• S: we’ll do, now we know how
3. Post listening
• After listening the audio imagine a world in which people
prefer to have a relationship with their computers of
cellphone rater than with another human being. This is the
case of Theodore who fall in love with his software. You can

4. Activity
• Using the structure to be going to, write a short paragraph in
which you made some predictions about the future of
