4. INTRODUCTION
On-the-job training (OJT) is a type of skill development where westudent learns
how to do the work through hands-on experience. This is in contrast to skill
formation that is purely cognitive or perceptual. OJT generally gives us the
opportunity to work in the same place and with the same equipment that will be
used regularly which can make it an efficient approach to learning new things.
By training in the workplace, we have the chance to get to know the people and
the environment earlier. We are often gets a chance to interact closely with new
co-workers and get practical advice about doing the job.
OJT or the on the job training is one of the training process where training is
given to someone new to a system similar to the real job. On-the job training is
an important way in which people acquire relevant knowledge and skills at work.
It is important to make the distinction between training and learning, this is critical
to the effective design and delivery of training in organisations.
On-the-job training (OJT) is one of the best training methods because it is
planned, organized, and conducted at the employee's worksite. OJT will
generally be the primary method used for broadening employee skills and
increasing productivity. It is particularly appropriate for developing proficiency
skills unique to an employee's job - especially jobs that are relatively easy to
learn and require locally-owned equipment and facilities.

This report success of mine couldn’t be turn into reality without this following

6. July 11, 2013
It was a wonderful morning, I and my classmates are preparing the requirements
for the duty such as application letter, appraisal, resume, and memorandum of
agreement. As a 4thYear College students we have this program to expose
ourselves to varied opportunities to enrich in the world of work through guided
specialized practice in line. We decide to have our on-the-job training at
Sutherland Global Services, the biggest call center in Davao City. Located at
Mabuhay I.T Park Ced ave. National Highway, General Santos City at the back
of SunCity suite.
When we arrived at Sutherland Global Services. We saw this huge gate with a
surveillance camera installed at th right upper part of the guard house. It’s
amazing and beautiful seeing the building because of the industrial design. As
we go inside the office, Ma’am Twaighla was the first person who guide us. We
introduce ourselves that we are from General Santos Doctors’ Medical School
Foundation Inc. 4th year Psychology students while giving our application letter.
They told us that we’re not the only interns who applied in their institution. There
were also interns fromCronesia Foundation College and Brokenshire College.
Ma’am Jona the Senior Recruitment Specialist conduct first the interview. After
conducting the interview Sir Arthur Cris the Recruitment Assistant-External
affairs/Sourcing took our available schedule for the duty. Since Sutherland is
open from Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.
7. July 12 and 18, 2013
I came at the office 8:30 am, it’s my first day of duty. After 5 minutes of waiting
for my classmates and other co-duties. Ma’am Twighla introduce what
Sutherland Global Services is. Since we are psychology students, one of our job
in the call center were to conduct an initial interview. We also rate the applicants,
after that we decide if they pass of not in the interview.
Another job is doing call-outs through the phone. We conduct a short interview
why they are interested to apply in our company. We ask them if they are college
graduate or undergraduate, because below 18 years old are not allowed for this
job. Call center is a graveyard work, you must be prepare in any shifting time for
people who are working at call center. It is hard to be a hiring applicants, the
decision depends on you whether you’re going to hire him or not. If she fits or not
in this kind of job. The Sutherland Global Services here in General Santos Cityis
not yet fully developed. The main branch is located at Davao City., where they
trained people with the state of the art technology and proven business
methodologies. They collaborates with clients to help them excel in their industry
and maximise their costumer’s lifetime value.
8. July 19 and 20, 2013
I am ready for another day of my duty, wearing my formal long-sleeved and skirt
uniform. I arrived 9:00 in the morning, same as the recent days we do the same
routine. We conduct a short interview why they are interested to apply in our
company. We ask them if they are college graduate or undergraduate, because
below 18 years old are not allowed for this job. Call center is a graveyard work,
you must be prepare in any shifting time for people who are working at call
center. It is hard to be a hiring applicants, the decision depends on you whether
you’re going to hire him or not. If she fits or not in this kind of job.
As experience in this job, it also helps us to obtain applicable knowledge and
skills. By improving more in delivering or speaking English. There are two types
of call center according to our recruitment assistant. The inbound call center your clients will call you and you need to provide support to them whileOutbound
Call center - you need to call your clients. Actually were not only students having
duty at Sutherland Global Services. Where with Cronesia Foundation College
and Brokenshire College. They are very approachable and friendly. It is not hard
for us to mingle with them.
9. July 25 and 26, 2013
The Sutherland Global Services will conduct a Recruitment Camp on SM Mall
locate at Santiago Avenue General Santos City. It will be held in Greenwich, from
Friday to Saturday. As intern we are obliged to help our staff. We are instruct to
be there eight o’clock in the morning. When I arrived I saw applicants waiting to
be assist. I am assigned by my staff to collect the resume of the applicants. We
giving the applicants a referral form. Nor were they can write the list of names,
email address and contact number of their friends, family and relatives. So that
we can invite more people to apply in Sutherland Global Services. I write on the
upper right of the applicant resume a priority number. For it will be easy for the
staff to conduct the interview.
It’s been a whole day and tiring activity. Assisting for job fair isn’t easy as I
thought. I and my co-workers are starving, but the Greenwich offered us foods. A
chicken spaghetti with rice and soft drinks. Which be paid by the Sutherland
Global Services Company. Out of 30 applicants tried to apply in the company.
There were only 4 people passed the interview. In order to pass you must be
fluent in speaking English, since it was a call center.
10. October 7, 2013
I woke up early in the morning for another day of my duty. Since there are no
applicants this day. We are instruct to do call outs, asking clients if they are
interested. If yes, they can visit the company at Mabuhay IT Park At The Back Of
Brokenshire College General Santos City.

11. October 11, 2013
It was Saturday in the morning, I and my 4th year classmates are in the school.
We received a call and a text message from Ma’am Twighla the Recruitment
assistant. Asking a favour to be at Greenleaf Hotel in front of SM Mall. We
thought there will be a job fair in the hotel. As we arrived, we recently knew that
there is a seminar for company’s owner the PAREB.
Ma’am Jona our SR. Recruitment Specialist gave us instruction to look for the
constantin and trauffer enterprises corporation. The representative of this
company gave us flyers to distribute to the people. We also arrange some files or
papers. And they gave us uniforms to be used to this activity.We enjoyed that
moment but unfortunately we have to go back at the school to attend our
afternoon class take a quiz on my subject. Before we returned to the school, we
went first at the office to let Ms Jonah sign our daily time report.
