Persuasive Essay Internships
When I started off as a college student, I always asked people what I could do to increase my
chances of finding a job right after college. Often times, I found that the only advice they would
offer me was to have a couple of internships under my belt. Now, I'll admit I was always entirely
turned off by this idea. I wanted to get advice that would help me sneak my way to the top without
having to do an internship. Mainly because as a broke college student I wanted to find a job where I
would get paid, not a non–paid internship where I would deliver coffee to a snobby boss who was
too cheap to hire an assistant and settled for an "intern" instead. So as you could imagine, hearing
people give me this advice made me roll my eyes. But, fast forward a few months later and here I
am, sitting at my own desk doing a paid internship for a kick ass agency. Surrounded by the biggest
warm–hearted goofballs I've ever had the blessing to know and learn from.
This internship has been the most real experience for me. I don't run out to get coffee, I don't
alphabetically sort number files (crossing my fingers this isn't a real task people have to do if so I'm
so sorry come intern here), or pick up anyone's dry cleaning. They work to push us outside of our
comfort zones and give us as close to a real agency experience as we could possible get. They jump
at every and any opportunity they have to show us how to grow and further develop our skills.
On top of doing what they can to help us

INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
Internship is an opportunity offered by various companies to potential students or candidates,
called as "interns", to work in the firm for a limited or fixed time period. Internship offers
students lot of exposure to the practical world and provides practical experiences in the industry
relating to their field of study. This becomes a valuable experience as it allows us to understand
how our studies are applied in the "real world", and it gives a good picture for our Curriculum Vitae`.
Internships can also be called as job training for professional careers. Internships generally, consists
exchange of ideas and services for experience between students and organizations. Some interns find
permanent, paid programme with the organizations for which they worked. This gives a benefit to
the employer as they do not have to search for a new employee, as the interns are trained previously
and they are less demanding. Internship experiences provide the opportunity to apply classroom
theories into the real world, thus it enhances the student's academic and their career goals.
Internships in India are career specific, college and school students often choose internships based on
the branch of study at their University. Internships for MBA graduates are the most common thing in

Essay about Business Internships
Business internships are helping students gain real world experience while they are not actually
out in the real world yet. Internships are becoming more and more popular with college students in
today's world. An internship is basically when a student in college goes to a company or business
and works while they are still enrolled in school and still getting academic credit. The main purpose
of the internship is for the student to gain valuable on the job work experience. But there are also
other things that a student can get from internships. Internships help the student decide whether or
not this line of work is correct for them. Since the student works in an occupation in which they are
highly interested in it really helps...show more content...
For that reason alone is a great reason as to why all business schools should build a strong internship
program.
An internship is no good if you do not make it work. Thus making the internship work for you is
very important. To start out the student must want to direct their full attention to the internship
because the internship is pretty much starting out their future. First impressions are usually suppose
to be good so a student should not go into an internship thinking that it is going to be easy and that
they can just blow through it. Internships should be beneficial for the students and the employer's.
The internship program coordinator should look for a few things when they are picking out the
companies in which they are going to send their students to learn and gain experience. First off the
firm in which you might be thinking about going into for an intern must have work for you to do.
Sitting behind a desk all day staring out the window will not teach you anything. It also helps out
when there are positive people surrounding the student intern. "For an internship to work, the firm's
principals must be available to supervise and teach."(Berger 30) The student intern will usually have
lots of questions and if there are good people around the intern to answer his or her questions and
correct their mistakes then the internship will be quite beneficial.
There are legal concerns that come along with internships that the

Journal Entry #2 1. What is your progress on your internship to date? Will you still be able to meet
your original internship goals? It has been a month and a few weeks since my internship started.
Throughout my journey, I have learned a lot of things and I am managing everything pretty well.
I am always on time, I communicate with my manager, and I always finish my tasks in a timely
manner. Overall my internship is progressing really well and I am delivering exceptional results.
As my internship progresses and I look back, I believe I will be able to meet my original internship
goals because I know how to manage all the tasks in a more effective way than in the beginning
when I just started with the internship and little by little I am

The senior that I chose to interview was Devon Smith also known "Mouse". Devon is a graduate of
Laurel High School and is currently attending Bowie State University. He is a student athlete and a
member of the Pedology program. In this interview I will ask questions in regards to his field
placement to better understand how and why things work when entering the field. I feel as though I
am prepared for my internship, but hopefully after interviewing Devon I won't be as nervous about
my field placement. I realize that the information he presents is imperative to me starting my
internship.

Q: How do you handle stress?
A: Chill, relax, workout, just things I like to do to get my mind of whatever it is that is troubling me.
Q: Have encountered any safety risks while working in the field?
A: I cannot really say that I have.
Q: Do you still believe Pedology: Child Studies is your chosen field?
A: Yes, because I love to work with kids and I am currently working in a middle school environment.
Q: How did process recordings and competencies help you develop your writing skills and at the
same time show you the importance of documentation? Did you learn more about the problems that
the client was experiencing? Did you use the problem solving method or the integrative model?
A: Process recordings and competencies made it easier for documentation and to record incidents
that happen. I learned more when the kids started to open up. I let the kids speak about there
opinions on things, I don't force my opinions on them I just assist them in finding what it is they
need to understand. I used the problem solving method. To be honest I can't remember the integrated
method.
Q: Which do you prefer working with micro, macro or mezzo populations?
A: I prefer micro or macro. If you can interact and maintain the attention of a larger group then you
should have no problem working with a group

Main contents of internship including main gains and more:
The reason I choose to follow an internship abroad is because I wanted to benefit from the unique
experience offered by the environment as well as opportunities. My goals were to learn, improve
and develop new sets of skills that might be helpful in my future life.
During my Internship I spent a little more over 50 hours at the Hotel.
I went to different departments of the hotel (I started from the HR department, then move to the
Housekeeping department, then to Concierge department and finally to the marketing department)
and got a lot of varied experiences. In all these departments I learned many things which will be
helpful for me in my future. I also learned the values and importance...show more content...
However I realized what I had to do and I organized my day, my work and myself accordingly in
order to work the most efficient way possible for me.
For certain I can say that the biggest benefit I gained during my internship was in my face to face
conversations with different people and cultural backgrounds. I think this communication skills are
always needed especially in International business, learning by doing is the best method of getting or
improving knowledge.
SWAT analysis for the Hotel I worked in:
The grand Kayalar Hotel is a three star accommodation and service unit located in the center of
Antalya. It offers the best competitive rates of its genre and target– groups and families. With that in
mind, this hotel has a high potential demand for its services. It has been exploring and exploiting
these areas profitably up to now as per its strengths and opportunities. On the contrary, there are some
difficulties as per its weaknesses and threats.

My Objectives Of My Internship
Before I started my internship, I set out a few learning objectives that has boosted my confidence,
knowledge and capability to take on challenges hands on. One of these objectives was to build a
network of connections in the workplace in order to have a chance of getting employed after
graduation. This specific goal turned out to be the easiest objective considering that I was
building networks subconsciously through causal as well as formal interactions. I ended up
meeting plenty of people in my company and the companies that were doing business with our
firm. However, the real challenge is keeping in touch with these people and making sure that I
don't become a distant memory. Moreover, I wanted to learn how to asses individual
underwriting risks through hands on work or work experience in order to perfect my skills in this
specific theoretical concept. Unfortunately, the work schedule I was assigned was very far from
this task, and I realized that the job contained sensitive information of clients and future clients,
therefore only experienced professionals are assigned that type of job. On the other hand, I was
successful in learning the technical skill and application I prescribed for myself. My objective was
to learn how to use excel in a professional and...show more content...
With that being said, I realized that the person that has perfected the skills of communication stands
out from everybody else because of their ability to articulate themselves. This skill set would
instantly boost an employee's career considering that they automatically become an asset to the
company. Our company does business in Asia, and a few African nations. With that being said,
obtaining these interpersonal skills set is crucial to the company's success because without these
relationships, the business would be an average company in the kingdom that will never reach the
goals it sets for

High School Internships
When thinking about graduating high school and going into college, do you ever think that you will
get a job right when you graduate? Yes that may be the case for some individuals but for the more
technical jobs and the ones that require more schooling for, look for student who have experience
with their major. It is important to know the different internships that are offered throughouthigh
school and college.
Browsing through the Missoula hospitals web pages I found information regarding the different
types of job shadowing and volunteer work that they provide. Starting with St. Patrick Hospital web
page I found a link leading to the different volunteer work that they have to offer. St. Patrick

Participants must be at least 16 years of age and enrolled in related high school or college courses
or is an adult who has expressed great interest in a health care career (Shadowing Program Policy" 2).
It's great knowing that Missoula has these wonderful connections with the hospitals. I guess my real
question is that why don't they offer any internships through the school year and only during the
summer?
I want to know why the only common internships for the medical field are offered during summer
hours and not during the school year. Frenchtown High School 2013–2014 Registration Course
Selection Guide stated that "Frenchtown requires student to have 24 credits to graduate. As you get
older you are offered more elective classes to take. You have eight classes per semester attending
four each day" (6). Most students toward the end of their senior year already have 20–22 credits,
meaning you only need two more credits to be eligible to graduate. These seniors have so much
time on their hands, and they end up taking work releases or classes they don't enjoy doing. As a
senior myself I find myself taking classes that I don't need, but take just to fill in a class period.
Having this said, there is so much time on their hands to be able to do an internship during the
school year, and not just in the summer. As I interviewed both our High School Principal Jake

Apart from that, it would also enhance my scope of getting accepted to a good school for the

I was able to be successful in this internship because I had to utilize and develop many new skills. I
used my interpersonal skills such as: coping strategies; peer relationships and effective social skills;
communication, problem–solving techniques, decision–making, conflict resolution, how to work in a
team, where everyone depends on each other and a lot of patience. I developed many new skills
such as multitasking, problem solving/decision making, and leadership qualities. I learned that I am
a role model. It is important to develop a good relationship with students; however, I must keep in
mind that I am expected to behave myself in a professional manner at all times. I also learned some
of the important skills of a teacher such as: how to provide direct instructions, clarify content, teach
skills and answer the students questions; help students identify their skills, abilities, and long term
plans regarding education and personal problems.
After I completed my internship I realized I didn't want to become a child psychologist anymore. I
was put in a situation in which I had to deal with a child who was suffering from depression among
other psychological problems and was considered to be

It has been a while since I started at the internship and I am really glad I decided to work here. I
think the experience in this area is a good preview of my career and future. I am learning some
important skills and finding out some things about myself and the tough skin I will need in order
to stay in the area of juvenile support. One of my responsibilities involved checking the messages
from the days before on the office phone. I found that some of the potential mentors sounded older.
This got me wondering about the age limits of the mentors. I knew they had to be at least 18, but
was there an age cap? Could a 30–year–old join the team and be the mentor to a 12–year–old? I
though about the different ways that these relationships...show more content...

support. At this point when I asked what prison the parents were in, they said county. It was then
my job to break them the bad news and let them know that their child did not qualify for the
program. In my search for organizations that are involved with the system and the families
surrounding it, my supervisor referred me to the School District of Philadelphia alternative
schools. These are schools children are transferred to based on behavioral problems. Coming
from the school district, I have already heard of these schools and knew some of the possible
places to contact. Although I have previous knowledge, I decided to start at the school district
office to get a list of all the alternative schools. This is where I hit one of the first barriers on my
path of recruitment. The school district gave me the biggest run around, sending me from one
office to another, then transferring me to completely different buildings and programs. No one
seemed to have the answer. I wondered why the home office of all the schools did not have a list
available of the possible alternative schools. I then decided to try my search on the internet. I
figure, there had to be some sort of list out on the web, but even that was a failed attempt. All I
could find was a list of all the schools that were not regular admissions and I could not decipher the
alternative versus the remedial

The internship program coordinator should look for a few things when they are picking out the companies in which they are going to send their students to learn and gain experience. First off the firm in which you might be thinking about going into for an intern must have work for you to do. Sitting behind a desk all day staring out the window will not teach you anything. It also helps out when there are positive people surrounding the student intern. "For an internship to work, the firm's principals must be available to supervise and teach."(Berger 30) The student intern will usually have lots of questions and if there are good people around the intern to answer his or her questions and correct their mistakes then the internship will be quite beneficial. • 7. My Objectives Of My Internship Before I started my internship, I set out a few learning objectives that has boosted my confidence, knowledge and capability to take on challenges hands on. One of these objectives was to build a network of connections in the workplace in order to have a chance of getting employed after graduation. This specific goal turned out to be the easiest objective considering that I was building networks subconsciously through causal as well as formal interactions. I ended up meeting plenty of people in my company and the companies that were doing business with our firm. However, the real challenge is keeping in touch with these people and making sure that I don't become a distant memory. Moreover, I wanted to learn how to asses individual underwriting risks through hands on work or work experience in order to perfect my skills in this specific theoretical concept. Unfortunately, the work schedule I was assigned was very far from this task, and I realized that the job contained sensitive information of clients and future clients, therefore only experienced professionals are assigned that type of job. I guess my real question is that why don't they offer any internships through the school year and only during the summer? I want to know why the only common internships for the medical field are offered during summer hours and not during the school year. Frenchtown High School 2013–2014 Registration Course Selection Guide stated that "Frenchtown requires student to have 24 credits to graduate. As you get older you are offered more elective classes to take. You have eight classes per semester attending four each day" (6). Most students toward the end of their senior year already have 20–22 credits, meaning you only need two more credits to be eligible to graduate. These seniors have so much time on their hands, and they end up taking work releases or classes they don't enjoy doing. As a senior myself I find myself taking classes that I don't need, but take just to fill in a class period. Having this said, there is so much time on their hands to be able to do an internship during the school year, and not just in the summer. I think the experience in this area is a good preview of my career and future. I am learning some important skills and finding out some things about myself and the tough skin I will need in order to stay in the area of juvenile support. One of my responsibilities involved checking the messages from the days before on the office phone. I found that some of the potential mentors sounded older. This got me wondering about the age limits of the mentors. I knew they had to be at least 18, but was there an age cap? Could a 30–year–old join the team and be the mentor to a 12–year–old? In my search for organizations that are involved with the system and the families surrounding it, my supervisor referred me to the School District of Philadelphia alternative schools. These are schools children are transferred to based on behavioral problems. Coming from the school district, I have already heard of these schools and knew some of the possible places to contact. Although I have previous knowledge, I decided to start at the school district office to get a list of all the alternative schools. This is where I hit one of the first barriers on my path of recruitment. The school district gave me the biggest run around, sending me from one office to another, then transferring me to completely different buildings and programs. No one seemed to have the answer. I wondered why the home office of all the schools did not have a list available of the possible alternative schools. I then decided to try my search on the internet. I figure, there had to be some sort of list out on the web, but even that was a failed attempt. All I could find was a list of all the schools that were not regular admissions and I could not decipher the alternative versus the remedial Get more content on HelpWriting.net
