2. This Strategic Intervention
Material will help you understand
about the cell division focusing on
MITOSIS.
There are variety of activities
and assessment that will surely be
fun and interesting to help you
master your learning. There is also
an enrichment activity to sharpen
your skills about mitosis. And if
you want to know more, go to the
reference to keep you updated.
Good luck and enjoy!!!
Least Mastered Skill
Compare mitosis and meiosis, and
their role in the cell-division cycle.
Sub - tasks:
1. Identify the cells that is involved in
mitosis.
2.Follow each stage of mitosis.
3.Interpret how mitosis happens in
our life.
3. Hi, I’m Mitos. Let us know to-
gether about mitosis. Let’s
read my sister’s notes!
One of the wonders of life is the way in which
a few single cells can multiply, diversify, and
organize to form tissues, organs, and organ
systems in higher organisms.
Mitosis
One method of cell division is mitosis. It
takes place in the cells of the pancreas, skin,
blood, nerves, bones, fats and other body parts
except in sex cells. Because it is involved in
growth as in lengthening of bones or muscles.
It is also involved in repair of broken tissue.
4. My sister told me
to remember
PMAT!
Prophase (1st stage)
For “Pro” that means beginning, nucleus is still
visible. The 92 chromosomes are condensing.
Metaphase (2nd stage)
For “Middle”, where the chromosomes align.
Spindle fibers already formed. Nucleus
disappears.
Anaphase (3rd stage)
For “Away”, spindle fibers pull the sister
chromatids away towards the pole.
Telophase (Last stage)
For “Two”, there are now two alike cells due to
cytokinesis that happens during this stage.
Nucleus is now seen. Each cells contains
5. Astonishing!
Cell divides to
multiply to help us
grow & repair.
Growth: Our bones lengthen as we get taller.
Growth: Hair grows long. Growth: Nail grows longer.
Repair: Our wound heals. BUT: Mitosis has nothing to do
with fertilization!
How does
mitosis
happen?
6. Hi, I’m Tosia. Now that you
had read my notes about
mitosis, try these activities for
you to hone your skills.
Each correct answer is 2
points.
But if you got it perfect,
you’ll be given plus 4 points.
DIRECTIONS: Circle all kinds of cell where mitosis
take place.
7. This time, don’t forget
P-M-A-T.
This activity is worth
4 points for every
correct answer plus
another 4 points if it
is in order.
DIRECTIONS: Arrange the following stages of mitosis in
order by identifying which is the 1st stage, 2nd stage, 3rd
stage and the Last stage.
Metaphase Prophase
TelophaseAnaphase
8. Remember: Mitosis is
for growth & repair!
Every correct answer
is now 2 points.
DIRECTIONS: Write OH YEAH if the statement is True
and OH NO if it is False.
__________1. Mitosis happens when there is
fertilization.
__________2. Our nails grow because of
mitosis.
__________3. We get taller because our bone
cells were lengthened due to
mitosis.
__________4. Mitosis has nothing to do with
our wound that heals.
__________5. Our hair grows longer because
of mitosis.
9. Ready your self for
more!
Time to show what
you’ve learned.
This is for 2 points
each.
DIRECTIONS: Fill in the boxes with the correct answer
using the words given below.
1. When we have wound, mitosis will help us to
___________ it.
2. In what part of the body does mitosis take
place?
3. Which stage of mitosis does cytokinesis
happen?
4. In this stage of mitosis, spindle fibers pull
the sister chromatids away towards the pole.
5. Our hair gets longer because mitosis helps it
to ___________.
Anaphase grow Telophase Body cells repair
10. Way to go!
Let’s have
another one.
This is another 3
points each for
every correct
answer.
DIRECTIONS: Choose the best answer by encircling the letter.
1. Mitosis is involved in _______________ of our body cells.
A.Growth & repair B. Wear & tear C. Fertilization
2. In this stage of mitosis, chromosomes are aligned in the middle as
nucleus disappear.
A.Prophase B. Metaphase C. Anaphase
3. How many chromosomes does each daughter cells will end up in
Telophase stage?
A.5 chromosomes B. 23 chromosomes C. 46 chromosomes
4. John is taller when he was in grade 1 because of mitosis.
A.True B. False C. Both A & B
5. All body cells are involved in mitosis except:
A. Blood cells B. Sperm cells C. Nerve cells
11. We’d like
to have

sis!
Then choose among the
variety of PERFECT
MATCH cards and enjoy
match making them
together.
You’ll garner 5 points for
a perfect match cards.
DIRECTIONS: Match the pictures in Column A to its
description in column B. You may also use the card
manipulative for better understanding of the topic.
