Shot composition activity
1. SHOT COMPOSITION ACTIVITY-
Shot composition refers to how the mise en scene fills the frame of the image
on the screen. When making the film and editing it all together having different
viewpoints of the same image is much more watchable and eye-catching for the
audience. There are different guidelines which must be taken into account in
order to achieve these things. For instance, the rule of thirds. This is applied
when the subject of the image is aligned with the guidelines.
LONG SHOT
Longshotis ashot whichshowsanactorfromheadtotoe whereweoftensee
someofthebackgroundincludedinthis.
ESTABLISHING SHOT
This is ashot whichgives theaudienceaninitialideatowherethefilmis set,theshotis
usuallyafullshotofa skyline or awide shotofa certainenvironment.
2. MEDIUM SHOT
In this shotwe usuallyseehalfoftheactor’sbodywaistup.
MEDIUM CLOSE-UP
This is simplyshotis toogive moredetailregardingtheactorsfeaturesandfacial
expression.It is usuallyupfrommidchestto thetop of thehead.
4. DUTCH ANGLE
This shotis whenthecameraistiltedso theshotis notlevel withthehorizonoftenused
to distorttheaudience.
HIGH ANGLE
This is whenthecameraisplacedabove thesubjectlookingdownon them.
LOW ANGLE
5. This shotis whenthe cameraisplacedbelowthesubjectlookingup atthem
OVER THE SHOULDER
This shotis takenwhentheactorsarefacingoneanotherandthecameraisplaced
