2. What is a billing block?
A billing block is the order and other aspects of how credits are presented for plays, films, television, or
other creative works. Information given in billing usually consists of the companies, actors, directors,
producers, and other crew members.
This is the definition which I found for when research what a billing block is. It is a fine print giving
credit to the main people involved in a creative production. In films it is displayed on the movie main
poster as well as seen last in the teaser trailer and in the final film we see everyone who was involved in
the final credits.
There is usually a consistent style which we see repeated time and time again. There are different ways
that a billing block can be displayed the most common fonts used are perhaps WOB Font and Coloured
Font on Black. Sometimes the way that we see the billing block on the poster can be set in more exiting
ways depending on the genre of the film. For instance being creative with the Billing Block and Merging
it within Poster, having an Angled Billing Block which might be seen as more edgy and arty.
The order of the billing block also holds importance, as it is usually in the order of who the most
important people involved are. For instance, in films, the first is usually the motion picture company,
followed by the producer. Followed by the director, depending on whether or not they are highly
recognised.
The billing block is usually set in a highly condensed typeface as shown by the following examples.
