Digestive System WebQuest 
Standards: 
-SC.O.4.3.1: identify that systems are made of parts that interact with one another. 
-SC.O.4.3.4: given a set of objects, group or order objects according to an established scheme. 
Introduct ion: 
For this assignment, you will take a journey through the web. You will search sites to find 
answers to the questions below. There is only one answer, so it is up to you to use your thinking skills 
and eyes to fine the answers throughout these websites. 
Tasks: 
Below is a list of 12 questions. Each question can be answered by using the websites provided. 
As stated above, each question on has one answer. 
Process: 
Use the following website to answer these questions: http://www.innerbody.com/image/digeov.html 
1. What forms the roof of the mouth? 
2. This is about 9-10 inches long and less than an inch in diameter when relaxed. 
3. What organ connects at four locations? 
4. What are the names of the locations they connect at? 
5. Where do your adult teeth develop? 
6. What is the name of the finger like projections on the cell membrane of the mucosa in the 
esophagus? 
7. How long does the stomach store food? 
8. What controls the movement of the food into the small intestines? 
9. In gallons, how much food, liquid, and digestive secretions does the small intestines product a 
day? 
10. Where des feces collect? 
11. In the large intestines, what converts chyme into feces and releases vitamin? 
12. This is kept closed by sphincter muscles. 
Evaluat ion: 
I will check to see if all students found the correct answers, and if there are questions that 
multiple students missed, I will have an understanding of what I should talk more about in the upcoming 
weeks.
Conclusion: 
After the students complete the assignment they will turn it into me. After everyone is 
complete, we will discuss the answer. I will also provide a survey with questions about their thoughts on 
the webquest.
