founded in 2007.The group has invested
4000 crores for setting up the state of the art
manufacturing facility in CHAKAN, PUNE.

We reached to the plant at about 10:30 am.Then
we go to the main building where we saw a
demo car i.e.VOLKSWAGENVENTO.Then we
met with a person namelyCHAITANYA HALBE
who is the
ASSISTANT MANAGER of the plant . He guides us
through the whole visit. He took us to the two
areas of the plant.
FIRSTLY : BODY SHOP
SECONDLY : ASSEMBLY HALL
 The CHAKAN PLANT covers most area.
This plant covers an area of 527 acres.
The total area is almost 2.3 million
square metres.The plant was built in a
record time of 17 months i.e. ONEYEAR
FIVE MONTHS with an investment of
4000 crores.
 The plant has a production capacity of
producing 1,30,000 vehicles per year, which in
capacity is maximised in the year 2o11 .The
PUNE PLANT is the most modern plant of
VOLKSWAGEN GROUP .The facility is the only
production that covers entire process.
 1 .Yearly : 1,30,000 vehicles from pune
plant.
 2 . Monthly : near about 10,500 vehicles.
 3 . Per day :40 vehicles.
 Total no. of employees working in pune plant is 3700 .
There are three types of emloyess i.e. direct, indirect,
contracted employees.
 DIRECT EMPLOYEES :These people works in office like
office works.
 INDIRECT EMPLOYEES :These people works in
shopfloors.
 CONTRACTED EMPLOYEES:These people are contracted
people who works on contract basis.
 These people works with great efficiency, skills & hard
work to achieve the aims & objectives & to make increase
in the production.
 MORNING SHIFT
 It starts from 6:30 am
and ends up to 3:30
pm.
 AFTERNOON SHIFT
 It starts from 3:30 pm
and ends up to 12:30
am.
 The body shop is the place where the cars is to be manufactured by
workers and robots & where the cars gets designed…
 STREAM LINE :This process is also called GIVING IDENTITYTO CARS or
GIVING AWING NUMBERTO CARS. After verifying numbers are
written on the white sheet and it is sticked on car. After this process
doors are taken out for few reasons.
 COCKPIT ASSEMBLY : 250 CARS in one shift are the target for
assembly the cockpit.
 WOODEN FLOOR : It is made to resist pressure on employees, it takes
a steady & quick work to check a car. Only 117 seconds is alloted for
completing the task.
 SPOT BUILDING : When there is more number of spots on the heads of
cars, better is the rigidity & stability.
 Also buyers building. Roof of the car body is
made by the melted copper wires.The robots
have very bright camera , they fit angles &
takes snaps to see & find any defects on the
body…
 Robots do LAZER BUILDING inside the car.
 MERITS:-
 1. Water proof quality.
 2. Increase in rigidity.
 3. Speedy & safe, Rise & promoting safe
driving.
 DEMERITS:-
 1. If rubber gets hole, it cause water
leakage.
 2. Car starts to take rusk & corogene.
 It is a place where the car gets all its accessories fit
inside like all types of ac’s , tyres, wind screens &
petrol gadgets, breaks, hand breaks, stearings.
 It is the most important hall in production plant of
any automobiles.

 Volkswagen Passat (2007-present)
 Volkswagen Jetta (2008-present)
 Volkswagen Polo (2009-present)
 Volkswagen Vento (2010-present)
 VolkswagenTouareg (2008-2013)
 Volkswagen New Beetle (2011-2013)
 Volkswagen Phaeton (2010-2013)
 The plant is also shared by SKODA AUTO INDIA PVT
LTD. for manufacturing the SKODA RAPID.
 This plant especially for the production of
VOLKSWAGEN POLO &VOLKSWAGENVENTO.
 Black, red metals is made or use
outside the cars for body safety &
inside air bags were there for safety
purpose.
 All the purpose of safety for the
customers.
 Better quality & rigidity.
 Car don’t have rusk & corogene.
 EXPORT:- Cars were also exported to Nepal,
Srilanka, Bangladesh,Thailand, Saudi
Arabia, Dubai & many countries.
Volkswagen occupies the SECOND highest
cars selling position in worldwide.
 Volkswagen occupy 20% market in the world
& in India it occupies near about 2.5% of the
market.
 It is mainly related to assembly of cars
engines into the body.This work is done by
automatic machines & it takes hardly 1-2
minutes to assemble engine & accessories.
 It takes only near about 117 seconds to
complete the task of assembling the engine.
 Motive :-Volkswagen motive is to be in
JUST INTIME & JUST IN SEQUENCE. Its aim
is to occupy more than the market & to be on
the top.
 Capacity :-The capacity of producing cars
firstly was :- 20 hours = 1 car, but continuous
hard work leads to produce:- 1 hour = 20 cars
 There are nearly 10 suppliers in INDIA.The
supply near about 420 cars per day.
 They plant uses three types of tyres :-
 J.K.TYRES
 APPOLO TYRES
 MRF TYRES
 These all are quality tyres which provides
comfort, quality, durability & avoid jerkings.
 Basically J.KTYRES, APPOLOTYRES & MRF
TYRES were used & it takes hardly one
minute to fit four tyres with the help of
machine. Cars comes on the machine & then
automatic robot machines fit the tyres.
 For manufacturing a car there is a very
important process to make a metal finish
line. 10 to 15 persons are engaged in
finishing work..
 There are two types of car structure
STEERINGS are assembles.:-
 Right hand side & Left hand side.
 These cars are exported to 32 different
countries.
 It takes 5 hours to paint a single car.
 There are two suppliers of paints or two
types of paints used in volkswagen plant :-
 1. ASIAN PAINTS
 2. NEROLAC PAINTS
 To find out the scratches on the car there
are check point with 8 lights tunnel.
 Two different types of lights are installed
i.e.YELLOW &WHITE.
 Yellow light is for night shift.
 White light is for day shift.
 It is used to identify the scratches if remains
after paints.
 By exporting,Volkswagen get good response
from other countries. Near about 50,000 cars
export to Mexico. Its capacity to export
beyond 50 countries. Last year it is about
20%-25%.
 Volkswagen occupy second position in the
world market…

We reached to the plant at about 10:30 am.Then we go to the main building where we saw a demo car i.e.VOLKSWAGENVENTO.Then we met with a person namelyCHAITANYA HALBE who is the ASSISTANT MANAGER of the plant . He guides us through the whole visit. He took us to the two areas of the plant. FIRSTLY : BODY SHOP SECONDLY : ASSEMBLY HALL

  • 10.  The CHAKAN PLANT covers most area. This plant covers an area of 527 acres. The total area is almost 2.3 million square metres.The plant was built in a record time of 17 months i.e. ONEYEAR FIVE MONTHS with an investment of 4000 crores.
  • 11.  The plant has a production capacity of producing 1,30,000 vehicles per year, which in capacity is maximised in the year 2o11 .The PUNE PLANT is the most modern plant of VOLKSWAGEN GROUP .The facility is the only production that covers entire process.  1 .Yearly : 1,30,000 vehicles from pune plant.  2 . Monthly : near about 10,500 vehicles.  3 . Per day :40 vehicles.
  • 12.  Total no. of employees working in pune plant is 3700 . There are three types of emloyess i.e. direct, indirect, contracted employees.  DIRECT EMPLOYEES :These people works in office like office works.  INDIRECT EMPLOYEES :These people works in shopfloors.  CONTRACTED EMPLOYEES:These people are contracted people who works on contract basis.  These people works with great efficiency, skills & hard work to achieve the aims & objectives & to make increase in the production.
  • 13.  MORNING SHIFT  It starts from 6:30 am and ends up to 3:30 pm.  AFTERNOON SHIFT  It starts from 3:30 pm and ends up to 12:30 am.

  • 16.  The body shop is the place where the cars is to be manufactured by workers and robots & where the cars gets designed…  STREAM LINE :This process is also called GIVING IDENTITYTO CARS or GIVING AWING NUMBERTO CARS. After verifying numbers are written on the white sheet and it is sticked on car. After this process doors are taken out for few reasons.  COCKPIT ASSEMBLY : 250 CARS in one shift are the target for assembly the cockpit.  WOODEN FLOOR : It is made to resist pressure on employees, it takes a steady & quick work to check a car. Only 117 seconds is alloted for completing the task.  SPOT BUILDING : When there is more number of spots on the heads of cars, better is the rigidity & stability.
  • 17.  Also buyers building. Roof of the car body is made by the melted copper wires.The robots have very bright camera , they fit angles & takes snaps to see & find any defects on the body…  Robots do LAZER BUILDING inside the car.

  • 20.  MERITS:-  1. Water proof quality.  2. Increase in rigidity.  3. Speedy & safe, Rise & promoting safe driving.  DEMERITS:-  1. If rubber gets hole, it cause water leakage.  2. Car starts to take rusk & corogene.
  • 21.  It is a place where the car gets all its accessories fit inside like all types of ac’s , tyres, wind screens & petrol gadgets, breaks, hand breaks, stearings.  It is the most important hall in production plant of any automobiles.  Mainly focuses on:-  1.   • 23.  Volkswagen Passat (2007-present)  Volkswagen Jetta (2008-present)  Volkswagen Polo (2009-present)  Volkswagen Vento (2010-present)  VolkswagenTouareg (2008-2013)  Volkswagen New Beetle (2011-2013)  Volkswagen Phaeton (2010-2013)  The plant is also shared by SKODA AUTO INDIA PVT LTD. for manufacturing the SKODA RAPID.  This plant especially for the production of VOLKSWAGEN POLO &VOLKSWAGENVENTO.
  • 24.  Black, red metals is made or use outside the cars for body safety & inside air bags were there for safety purpose.  All the purpose of safety for the customers.  Better quality & rigidity.  Car don’t have rusk & corogene.
  • 25.  EXPORT:- Cars were also exported to Nepal, Srilanka, Bangladesh,Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Dubai & many countries. Volkswagen occupies the SECOND highest cars selling position in worldwide.  Volkswagen occupy 20% market in the world & in India it occupies near about 2.5% of the market.
  • 26.  It is mainly related to assembly of cars engines into the body.This work is done by automatic machines & it takes hardly 1-2 minutes to assemble engine & accessories.  It takes only near about 117 seconds to complete the task of assembling the engine.

  • 30.  Motive :-Volkswagen motive is to be in JUST INTIME & JUST IN SEQUENCE. Its aim is to occupy more than the market & to be on the top.  Capacity :-The capacity of producing cars firstly was :- 20 hours = 1 car, but continuous hard work leads to produce:- 1 hour = 20 cars  There are nearly 10 suppliers in INDIA.The supply near about 420 cars per day.

  • 32.  They plant uses three types of tyres :-  J.K.TYRES  APPOLO TYRES  MRF TYRES  These all are quality tyres which provides comfort, quality, durability & avoid jerkings.

  • 35.  Basically J.KTYRES, APPOLOTYRES & MRF TYRES were used & it takes hardly one minute to fit four tyres with the help of machine. Cars comes on the machine & then automatic robot machines fit the tyres.
  • 36.  For manufacturing a car there is a very important process to make a metal finish line. 10 to 15 persons are engaged in finishing work..
  • 37.  There are two types of car structure STEERINGS are assembles.:-  Right hand side & Left hand side.  These cars are exported to 32 different countries.
  • 38.  It takes 5 hours to paint a single car.  There are two suppliers of paints or two types of paints used in volkswagen plant :-  1. ASIAN PAINTS  2. NEROLAC PAINTS

  • 40.  To find out the scratches on the car there are check point with 8 lights tunnel.  Two different types of lights are installed i.e.YELLOW &WHITE.  Yellow light is for night shift.  White light is for day shift.  It is used to identify the scratches if remains after paints.

  • 42.  By exporting,Volkswagen get good response from other countries. Near about 50,000 cars export to Mexico. Its capacity to export beyond 50 countries. Last year it is about 20%-25%.  Volkswagen occupy second position in the world market…
