I. Objectives: To construct sentences with compound subject and predicate
To begin and end the sentences correctly
To pronounce the words correctly in speaking/reading their sentences
II. Subject Matter: Constructing sentences with compound subject and predicate
Reference: English for You and Me pp. 57 - 59
Materials: charts and pictures
Teaching Strategy: Carousel Brainstorming
III. A. Opening Song:Six Little Ducks
B. Review: What is a compound subject? A compound predicate?
Give some examples of a compound subject and compound predicate.
C. Motivation: Show some pictures:
Ask: What can you see in the pictures?
Who can make a sentence with a compound subject?
Who can give me a sentence with compound predicate?
Show chart on the pairs of sentences:
Combine the two sentences to make a compound subject and compound predicate.
D. Presentation: This morning we are going to make and construct some sentences with compound
sujects and sentences with compound predicates.
E. Giving directions and instructions after grouping:
1. Each group will be given a picture to work on.
2. Each member/group will take turns in making/constructing sentences about the picture.
3. Assign a leader and a secretary to write/organize/review the sentences
4. Set standards working in groups. Each member will have to participance actively.
E. Activity proper with teacher supervision.
F. Presentation of outputs
IV. Evaluation:
Which group presented the best output according to the following:
a. observe proper use of capital letters and end punctuation marks 25%
b. presented a clean output (free from erasures) 10%
c. Sentences include compound subjects and predicates 40%
d. Correct pronunciation in reading the outputs 25%
