Different person means different habits
When attending to college for your first time, and realize that you made a great success having a reason to follow your dream to continue your education. You can make friends that can respect you, meeting new people where they are from a different country, and you can make a relationship your professor. However, my profiles are not meeting that I am looking and I think it is going to be hard to find a quote to match my topic.

The stories contain with many topics like; struggling, happiness, major, etc. the one thing I find that many students have a different idea of how they think of UW-Stout meaning some student believe that it’s a closed-minded school, and some students feel that it’s an open-minded school. I was shocked to see the difference.
In this first picture and the quote by Bayile Fakler is about this person is playing a game instead of studying. “I play my video games more often then I study.” This quote is very interest to me because just I like playing games like him but other interest instead of studying their assignment. The point of this picture is that not every student is not academic towards their homework because playing a game or watching video media.

Question#1:
In a client-server system for a hypothetical banking application,
the clients are ATM machines,
and the server is the bank server. Suppose that the client has
10. two operations: withdraw and
deposit. Use the broker architectural pattern to document an
initial architecture design for this
system:
1-Draw a class diagram for this system. Use a client-side proxy
to encrypt the data using an
encrypt operation, and use a server side proxy to decrypt the
data.
2- Draw a sequence diagram for this system.
3- Suppose that we want greater availability of the server,
discuss what kind of tactics you should
use to achieve that.
Question#2:
You are given a class that processes the purchases for an online
store. The class receives calls to
retrieve the prices for items from a database, records the sold
items, updates the database, and
refreshes the webpage. What architectural pattern is suitable for
this? Illustrate your answer by
drawing a model for the solution, showing the method
calls/events. Comment on how applying
the pattern will impact the modifiability of the system.
Question#3:
A “Personal Address Book” application program allows the user
to add, delete, search, save and
load her contact information. The program separates user
(command-line) interface and internal
processing subsystem. The internal processing system consists
of the following classes:
ContactManager (responsible for add and delete operations),
ContactFinder (responsible for
search operation), and DataManager (responsible for save and
11. load operations).
1-What design pattern can be used to implement the user
interface? Explain your answer using
class diagram for the entire system.
2- Draw an UML sequence diagram to show the behavioural
view of the personal address book
program that demonstrates what happens when a user enter a
new contact information.
Question#4:
In a system comprising of 3 components: A, B, C. Calling A
requires calling B, and calling B
requires calling A. Component C is responsible for tasks T#1,
T#2, and T#3.
Comment on the modifiability of this system. What are the
problems that you see in this system,

The choices we make, the stories we tell
November 2nd, 2015
By Jasmine Baker,
What started as a weekly assignment in which I expected it to
be interviews that made me instantly have a social croak or have
the overwhelming feeling of not even seeing a passing grade in
my near future, turned into an actual experience that changed
the social approach for many students who would never dare
strike a random conversation directed towards stranger on the
street. That day, in the early eve of September, Dr. Genesea
Carter approached the students with an experimental thought
that was questionable phenomenal. The classroom, in the pit of
silence while listening to her idea of a Stout Facebook page,
had ticked with thoughts gathering about how to approach this
project. Dr. Carter’s Composition writing assignment had me
wondering, “How exactly am I going to approach this anyway? I
mean a random stranger wouldn’t easily open up to me that
easily right, matter of fact take a picture of them?”
Based off of the well-renowned Facebook page Humans of New
York by Brandon Stanton, is a new twist that pushes students at
Stout to discover what is beyond the mask of just a random
passerby, and find some common ground and relatability. The
16. method for the students was to conversate with a strangers, and
ask questions around a common theme or just talk in general,
and also ask if the stranger wanted their picture taken or not. If
the stranger voted not to, it would then be a picture of
something valuable to them.
The process that took place for this page to come alive was the
effort of the students, meeting many times of the week, and
discussing interviews that had been done throughout campus
that seemed meaningful, homely, or just down right hilarious.
Over 100 of posts, and the question would always pop up in
class, “What is the story behind this picture?” A story from a
stranger, in the case of Stephanie Zengler, but rather choose
someone closer, such as her roommate.
“All I knew about before that day was her religious, and
conservative background. When I first saw her walk through the
door, my first thought was, "I really hope she isn't a serial
killer." I didn't know much about her, and was worried we
wouldn't have anything in common. “It was funny topic to talk
about on that October afternoon, the MSC calm but at the same
time filled with a chaotic atmosphere to it. But something as
small as a tattoo could lead to a path of possibilities, and even a
friendship between roomies. “Because we've grown closer over
the past two months, she told me more about her story recently.
Over the summer, my roommate chose to embrace the other side
of the world, and tried things she was previously sheltered
from. During this time, she found so much of herself, and got
this tattoo to symbolize it.”
A symbol such as that represents us as humans, whether we get
a tattoo, piercing, or even dye our hair, it represents what we
stand for and the choices we choose it to guide us to our future.
“Whenever I see this tattoo in person, or through picture, I'm
always reminded to keep moving in a direction. I may not see
much value in learning about the industrial revolution, or how
to solve a matrix, but I take solace in knowing that it's all
17. leading to something.”, Stephanie had stated with an awe of
inspiration in her words. With that in mind, the question that I
ventured out for after that answer was “Can we find a deeper
meaning behind these posts?” and “What can strangers who
wander on this page find in regards to relatability in these posts
?”.
I soon interviewed Danielle Macguire, another student who
participated in Humans of Stout page. I wanted to know exactly
why the students would choose the people that they posted on
the page, with that in mind I had approached her scavenging for
the answer. I asked if she, in anyway related to the quote
“"Don't be afraid to smell different types of flowers", one of the
post she had posted on the page. “In a way I do connect with his
story, because I'm not afraid to try new things, I go out into the
world with an open mind and like to try new things.”, Macguire
openly stated. In a way this connects back to my original
thought that we are given different choices, and that we can
take these experiences of others and influence how we choose
our life.
In another interview I had with Danielle, I had asked her about
another post that was relatable not only to me, but to Danielle
as well. With the perspective of both art majors looking into
this post, I asked what deep meaning was behind this picture. “I
think the meaning was it was just a doodle but it turned out to
be beautiful and very detailed, and that art is an escape and you
can make anything you want, even things you dream about.”
People like the girl in Danielle’s post have a focus of making
anything come to this world, whether it be art, science,
writings, anything can possibly be made from human
inspiration.
We inspire to be like other people, and make friends,
acquaintances, even strangers who teach us that life is just a
18. rollercoaster of imperfections, that’s why we have to build it to
our liking. All the people behind the page, whether they
continue this project or not, have learned so much about the
single story. A single story can be so easily corrupted, but from
the words of others who have lived under circumstances much
more difficult or even similar to us, we learn the true meaning
behind the single story in the first place. A story is not only
words and pictures, but a window to other people’s values and
feelings that connects us all in the end.
Regret is what we think about in our daily lives
November 6, 2015
By Lance Berwald –
“Should I have done this or not.” This thought comes across
everyone at least once in their lifetime. I’m in college now and I
think to myself “Do I still have time to pursue my passion or
spend time with my family?” This became more apparent once I
got assigned the Humans of UW-Stout Facebook page.
The Humans of UW-Stout Facebook project is a Facebook page
that shows more than a single story. It tells what opinions
people have, thoughts on life, their backgrounds, advice,
struggles, and any unedited story they have to tell. This
Facebook page shows that everybody has their story to tell. It
was modeled after the page of Humans of New York made by
Brandon Stanton who is a photographer. He started the page by
just taking pictures, but along the way he began to get their
story as well. When my English Teacher Dr. Genesea Carter
told our English 101 class in the first week that we had to do
this project, I thought to myself I do not want to do this at all.
We had to do five stories on people we didn’t know in the
community of UW-Stout and post what they have to say on
Facebook. For the stories, we had to take a picture of the person
or an object that related to the story. It was very nerve racking
at first but it got me out of my comfort zone. I chose these
stories because these were the people that were most open to me
19. while talking. I shared these pictures to give humor and advice
to the readers of this page.
The first time I interviewed a person for the Humans of UW-
Stout Facebook page they were very open with talking to me,
and thought it was very cool that I was doing this project.
However, the second person was definitely not the same. They
were very shy at first, but with some more talking, while we
were doing our homework, she told me some actual stories
about her life. They were very interesting but she did not want
them posted on the Facebook page. Even though I did not get to
post this person it was still great listening to a person’s story
that I did not know.
While looking through the Humans of UW-Stout Facebook page
the first picture that caught my eye was taken by Joseph
Anderson. I instantly related to this photo because I also wished
I would have pursued my basketball dream. When I interviewed
Joseph I asked why he chose to post the quote “My biggest
regret is not pursuing my college basketball dreams”, and why
he thought readers would want to see it. He responded almost
immediately saying, “I chose to post this so people would
follow through on what they love to do and I also think the
readers need to hear this because no one should give up on their
dream.”
Photo taken by Joseph Anderson
Another picture that I instantly related to was the picture taken
by Choua Xiong. The quote "I regret not spending more time
with my family", definitely got me to think how I have missed
being with my family, and it made me realize that I should have
spent more time with them when given the chance. Once you are
gone from home you realize you took things for granted like
simply seeing them every day. When I asked Choua what she
wanted people to take away from the quote she said, “We all
have regrets. Sometimes other's regrets are similar to our
regrets as well. With similar regrets we can connect with each
other and help one another”. You never know how much you
20. will miss something until it is gone.
This next picture also talked about how family is a big part of
your life with the quote “I have 8 brothers and sisters, my
youngest two siblings are adopted from Haiti. Sometimes I don't
like having a big family because it gets chaotic, but they are
always there for me." Family can get crazy but you still love
them and miss being with them. While interviewing the
photographer, Quintin Sabelko, I asked what he why he thinks
readers need to see this and he responded with, “I think readers
need to see this because it might remind them of their family,
and maybe bring back memories with their family that they did
not cherish enough before they came to college.” I can relate to
this because once your family is gone you tend to think to
yourself, “Wow, I should have spent more time with them.”

The people that I interviewed who took these photos had
different and similar experiences talking to their “humans”
compared to me.

Quintin enjoyed learning from this project that everyone has an
interesting story to tell. I can agree with him completely, and I
also thought it was an interesting experience talking to a person
that I did not know before. Joseph and Chouas experience was
that he connected with the people he talked to and thought it
was interesting that he related to so many people. I really did
not connect to the people I talked to but I enjoyed listening to
their stories.
In the beginning of the Humans of UW-Stout Facebook page
assignment I thought this was going to be a terrible experience.
However, as I started to do it I actually loved listening to
random people that I did not know talk about their stories. Just
like the people in these photos I do regret a lot of things in my
life like pursuing my basketball dream and not spending enough
time with my family. What I have learned from talking to all
21. these people is that everyone has regret coming into college and
it will only grow with more time, so just cherish every moment
and do not take anything for granted.
