Comparing The Yellow Wallpaper And A Pair Of Silk Stockings
The stories A Pair of Silk Stockings , The Story of an Hour and The Yellow Wallpaper are similar
in multiple ways although they also contrast from each other. All three stories were published in
the 1890 s and all shared a similar theme which was related to the time period. Comparing and
contrasting the stories maintain and vary from each other on components such as the theme,
setting, and main characters which will be scrutinized in the following. The story A Pair of Silk
Stockings consists of the Mrs. Sommers, the main character, receives fifteen dollars and decides
to go spend the money on clothing for her children. Before beginning to shop , Mrs. Sommers
sees some silk stockings and is intrigued by them. She buys the stockings instead of buying the
clothes for her children. Mrs. Sommers then continues to shop for herself as she goes to the shoe
store to a buy a pair of boots, eats at a nice restaurant leaving a tip, and then proceeds to go to a
theater and watch a play. After her expensive expedition, Mrs. Sommers she returns home on an

Facebook and twitter have made us more densely network than ever. Paragraph: In Stephen

Facebook, in particular, is the target of this article, with its enormous audience, Facebook is the

So a lot of people give up face to face to talk with each other instead using the Facebook or any
other technology. The research put into the lonely topic consists of psychologist s opinions and
real events. For example, the books Sherry Turkle wrote like Life on the screen and Alone
together can see how serious the impact is. Another effect is loneliness is not a matter of external
conditions but rather more of a psychological state, which can cause neuroticism, or anxiety with
due time. For example, John Cacioppo, the director of the center for cognitive and social
neuroscience at the University of Chicago, says the epidemic of loneliness is affecting the basic
functions of human physiology. And in one experiment, Cacioppo confirmed The greater the
proportion of online interactions, the lonelier you are. What s more, in the article, the author
shows us many other researchers and examples from the professional study prove his topic Is
Facebook making us lonely. For example, Moira Burke concludes that the effect of Facebook
depends on what people bring to it. And her research does not support the assertion that Facebook
creates loneliness. So in

What Is Teenage Curfew Persuasive Essay
Many young teenagers enjoy living life on the edge; they often think or see themselves as fully
grown adults, capable of making their own decisions, and having the freedom that comes with it.
But more often than not, teenagers are not fully able to grasp the sense of maturity and
consequence in every day life, much less out in the real world. In order to keep them safe and
away from harm, a curfew is a perfect wall for teens to stay behind. Everyone remembers that, at
least once as a child, they have dreamt of having the freedom, will, and maturity that their parent or
guardian possesses. Even today, children often pretend to be a business man or president; someone
that they hope to be when they get older. True, teenagers are closer to... Show more content on

Teenagers are often seen as reckless and immature, rather than having the calm and collected
composure that an adult is seen with. This immaturity can sometimes be so high, they simply
refuse to take the fall for the decisions they made; some fail to realize that, in real life, everyone
must take the good with the bad, not solely claim the benefits. This fragile flaw can very much
prove fatal, so a curfew can very much save young citizens from themselves. Many television
shows and movies are known to give a young character an episode or scene about him or her, and
it often runs down the same road; the child or teen does something reckless or idiotic, they try
extremely hard to fix it (but it often makes things worse), and when they fail, they must face the
consequences. A well known example is from the hit Cartoon Network show The Amazing
world or Gumball, where the main character Gumball causes trouble with little or no intention.
In one specific episode, Gumball accidentally damages a rented DVD, and when he tries to fix it,
he ends up breaking it. This may seem like a silly show, but there is one big comparison between
his actions and real life: In every episode, such as the DVD episode, he is forced to face the

The Pros and Cons of Homework Essay
Homework: Does it Help, or Harm Us? When a class is almost over and a teacher starts assigning
homework, every student s heart drops. When students have an excess of homework, they do not
do as well. Even though homework is a good tool to help teachers teach students subjects, teachers
should give less homeworkbecause too much homework causes mental health issues in students
and less homework helps improve test scores. The first reason teachers should give students less
homework is that it takes away their childhood. When a student goes to school for seven hours a
day, and then goes home to three hours of homework, they do not get to be a kid. It is suggested
that student adopt an eight eight eight schedule. This schedule being eight... Show more content on

Assigning less homework in schools could reduce teen anxiety and teen depression rates (Kohn).
The next reason too much homework is harmful to students is that studies show more homework
to cause lower test scores. One to two hours of homework a week does not cause a major change
in test scores (Wolchover). There is no evidence of homework having any academic benefit in
elementary or middle school, and the academic benefit found in high school is very weak (Kohn).
Homework is not shown to help students academically until grades ten through twelve (Wolchover).
There is also no proof that homework increases good study habits in students (Kohn). On top of too
much homework making standardized test scores lower, much of this homework is just busy work
(Wolchover). Many teachers ask their student to re write pages in a textbook. This just causes the
student to spend time on something that has no real purpose. Remedial work has no positive
effect on students. It just takes up more time ( Too Much Homework Can Cause Stress,
Depression and Lower Grades, Studies Suggest ). Even homework that is useful in some way
should be limited. Studies show that a student s time is more useful when they play an instrument
or a sport. Parent s want their student to be good at many things. It is more important to be a well
rounded person than to ace all of your tests (Wolchover). One of the top

They Left All the Weak Ones Here
They left all the weak ones here
In section 4 of the novel of mice and men , George and the ranchers have left the weak ones at
the ranch and gone into town. Although Curley s wife is the one who refers to them as the
weak ones , she herself is included in this group. The theme which is emphasised in this section
is the overriding theme that humanity is small and fragile in comparison with the forces that
control our lives. Steinbeck shows great compassion to this group of people, he describes is
great detail before this section of the hopes and dreams of each and every one of the weak ones
and how they will never be achieved. In this group are four people, each with their own problems,

the cause of the black people at the time and to open people s minds towards the ideas of
exclusion and loneliness. Although crooks is treated very unfairly most the time he pounces on

The Conversion Of Paul In The Book Of Acts
The book of Acts contains three different accounts of the conversion of Paul, which makes this
part of the story in the New Testament redundant. Each narratives conflict with one another that is
presented. It seems that the contentions of the narratives are false. So, the question is why are
there three accounts for the conversion of Paul? To my comprehension of the first narrative, Acts
9 seems to be coming from Luke s point of view. I think that Luke is only giving out just the
basic detail of Saul s conversion to Christ. I think Like s primary function was to only sketch out
the basic details of the narratives. In Acts 22, it shows how Paul is now defending his change from
being an enemy to supporter of Christianity, to his Hebrew fellow men . In this chapter it shows
how there is a connection between Paul s Jewish background and his present religious bearing. Paul
wanted to show his Israelite brothers that there is no conflict between Judaismand Christianity. Acts
chapter 26, tells us another one of Paul s defense. This time Paul is arguing that Christianity was
never intended to be a political rival to Rome. Paul was presenting his case before Festus the
Roman king during the time. Agrippa was also in the hearing of... Show more content on

When reading all three of the narrative there must be some errors involved. It is stated that the
conversion of Paul happened on the road to Damascus. Saul was convinced that he had seen the
risen Jesus Christ. He then asks, What am I to do, Lord? Jesus instructs him to head toward the
city and that he ll let him know what he must do . In the three accounts, it states nothing that Paul
would receive forgiveness for his sin while he was on the Damascus road. His sins was soon when

Causes, Symptoms, And Treatments
Graves disease
Causes, symptoms, and treatments by Mary Smith
Graves disease is an immune system disorder that results in the overproduction of hormones
(hyperthyroidism). Many disorders may be a result in hyperthyroidism, Graves disease is the most
common cause.
Thyroid hormones affect many different body systems, signs and symptoms associated with
Graves disease can wide ranging and can influence your over all wellbeing. Graves disease may
affect anyone, it s more common among women and before the age of 40. Primary treatment goals
are to inhibit the overproduction of thyroid hormones and lesson the severity of the symptoms.
There are numerous signs that allude to the presence of Graves disease, most notably is a large
protruding bulb associated with the thyroid gland (goiter), changes in the menstrual cycle, bulging
eyes (Graves ophthalmopathy), and less common is Graves demopathy, or thick, red skin usually
found on the shins or tops of the feet.
One of the most telling symptoms of Graves disease presents in about 30% of those diagnosed
with the condition is Graves ophthalmopathy. Graves ophthalmopathy refers to bulging of the eyes,
exophthalmos, a gritty sensation in the eyes, pressure and/or pain in the eyes, puffy or retracted
eye lids, reddened or inflamed eyes, sensitivity to light, double vision, or outright vision loss. While
these signs are strongly associated with Graves disease, the symptoms do not associate solely with
the condition.

Gulf Oil Spill Essay
1.BP made several mistakes over the time period following the Gulf Oil Spill. The early
comments by CEO Tony Hayward that the environmental impacts of the spill were very, very
modest was the initial mistake. This was followed by the embarrassing fact that BP digitally
altered some of the photos of the spill operation on the company website. I think they should have
been honest with the public. We all know they messed up, so it is important to be transparent.
When crises like this happen it usually calls for a change in top management. The BP chief
executive at the time became a lightning rod for America s anger with his choice of flashy pin
stripped suits, which many believed reflected an inappropriate tone for the matters at hand. I

The communities in the Gulf of Mexico should ve been the primary concerns for BP. This spill
threatened the livelihoods of thousands of fishermen and led to less traffic for hotel owners in the
southeast with tar balls washing up on beaches. In addition BP should ve been concerned the
overall reception from the United States. Many people were turned off from buying BP strictly by
how they handled the Gulf Oil Spill. Lastly, BP should be less concerned with their pending
lawsuits. They can remain optimistic that many people will apply for compensation rather than go
to court. BP s shareholders are another less important concern. BP canceled the company divided
to pledge $20 billion in aid to those affected by the spill.
3.In BP s PR campaign they tried to state that there was very little oil was leaking into the Gulf,
when this contradicted the estimates of specialist outside of BP. In addition BP tried to give
blame for the blowout on the contractors, rather than take ownership. BP should have taken
ownership and spent more resources in cleaning up the spill. They tried to win the public back
before the cleaned the spill and as long as the oil continued to leak there was no way to win back

The Aeneid Betrayal
A major theme throughout book 4 of The Aeneid is the idea of love. This theme not only deals
with love, but the betrayal of love. Two sisters, Dido and Anna, both feel betrayed respectively.
Dido feels betrayed by the man she loves, Aeneas, when he leaves her for Italy and also Anna by
the untimely death of her sister. While these sisters feel this betrayal by a person they loved,
Anna is the more justified in her feeling of betrayal because of the love she had for her sister and
had right reasoning for her betrayal. The bond that these two sisters had is one reason for Anna s
justification. The bond of siblings is a strong one. Like Paris was to Oenone, Didowas Anna s
playmate on the hill (Tennyson 17). Anna and Dido were close to the... Show more content on

While Dido was betrayed by the man she loved, she believed that they were married. Dido and
Aeneas did engage in the marital act while stuck in a cave one night, but they never actually
married. One of Dido s main reasons for feeling betrayed was because she saw Aeneas leaving as
her husband divorcing her when she asks Aeneas Nec te noster amor ne te data dextera
quondam?... Cui me moribundam deseris hospes , meaning, Will my love not hold you, nor the
right hand I once gave you?... My guest, since that s all that is left of me from the name husband
(Aeneid 307 08, 323). While Dido did love Aeneas, she does not have the right justification for
feeling betrayed that her husband is leaving her, because they were never married. Anna had
right reasoning for her betrayal because she had been doing something Dido wanted her to do,
build a funeral pyre. Dido, however, did not tell Anna that she would never see her sister again
and also that she was assisting in her own sister s suicide when Anna says Hoc illud, germania,
fuit? Me fraude petebas? Hoc rogus iste mihi, hoc ignes araeque parabant? So this was the meaning
of it, sister? Did you aim to cheat me? This pyre of yours, this fire and altar were prepared for my

How Did Halloween Have Changed
Halloween is an annual holiday celebrated on the 31st of October across the globe. The holiday
originated ancient Celtic. Celts lived 2000 years ago in the areas which are now Ireland, Northern
France, and the United Kingdom. They had a similar celebration called Samhain. Samhain was
celebrated on the 1st of November rather than the 31st of October. Throughout the centuries
Halloween traditions have changed drastically. To see what a difference Halloween is now to back
in time we must examine what traditions and celebrations were done, secondly how we celebrate
the famously known holiday and finally what people have against the celebrations and traditions to
this day.

Essay about Analysis of Anne Sexton s Poem Her Kind
Analysis of Anne Sexton s Poem Her Kind Anne Sexton was a poet and a woman, but most
importantly, she was an outcast. Subjected to nervous breakdowns and admitted to a
neuropsychiatry hospital, Sexton must have been all too familiar with the staring eyes and the
judging minds of the public. Just being a woman in today s world often can be enough to
degrade a person in the public s eye, let alone being labeled as a crazy woman. But Anne Sexton
did not let society remain unchallenged in its views. She voiced a different opinion of women
through poetry. In Anne Sexton s Her Kind the speaker of the poem embraces society s negative
stereotype of modern, liberated women and transforms it into a positive image. Two voices, the
voice of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This distancing shows how she is different from society; perhaps society pushes her away
because she is different, or perhaps society sees her as different because she has segregated
herself from the typical lifestyle of civilization. Either way, the voice of society chants, A
woman like that is misunderstood (Line 13). Society must get rid of her because it cannot see
her point of view. Moreover, Anne Sexton uses stunning imagery to illustrate the pain society
inflicts on an outcast. The speaker compares herself to a witch who has been carted off to an
insane asylum and claims I have ridden in your cart, driver, I waved my nude arms at villages
going by, I learning the last bright routes (Lines15 17). She vividly describes pain through torture
methods practiced on witches during the Inquisition. For example, she feels she has been burned
at the stake because society s flames still bite my thigh (Line 18). The speaker s ribs crack where
your wheels wind (Line 19) on another torture device, the wheel. The words still in the phrase still
bite (Line 18) stresses that tortures have not gone out of style but have merely changed shape, and
society still employs them to resist the change in power towards women. Although the physical
tortures are no longer obvious in America, women s success is still lagging because of the attitude
of society. The public supposes that she is not

Have you ever said he deserves to be in the NBA. or I hope he goes to the nba. But he is in high

of successful Nba Players were drafted out of high school. Such as, Michael Jordan, Lebron
James and Kobe Bryant which all of them had or are having a successful careers. 80% of high
schoolers drafted early become millionaires by the age of 21(Shields). But there is also a slim
chance that they might get drafted out of high school. High School Athletes have a 1.8% chance of
getting drafted out of high school into the NBA(Bae). Overall they should let young high school

Navy Band Proposal Essay
Navy Band Proposal: The significance and influence of a Military Band
This analysis will focus on the influence of the United States Navy Band. The Navy band has

the Frauenthal Theater in downtown Muskegon at 7 pm. I will be analyzing emotional responses
from the audience, the process of coordinating the performance, and responses from the band
members.
The United States Navy band performs over 1300 ceremonies and 300 concerts a year for various
events, venues, and schools. I have arranged to meet with the event coordinator, Heather Hanson, to
give more insight into the reasoning of booking the band. I will ask questions regarding the

I asked Heather why the event was free when a National band was performing at such a historic

charging to see them would go against the message they wanted to send. They wanted their
performance to symbolize honor for our Country through music, and involving others, while making
it as easy as possible to show that same honor through their attendance. I also asked the event
coordinator is this the first Military band that has performed at the Frauenthal, and if not, how was
the attendance. She stated that the Frauenthal has had bands from the Army, and Marines perform
there and that both times attendance was between 50% 85%, being that the Army had the most
attendance. She explained how most of the attendees had some connection to the Military and most
were between the ages of 33 65 years

Explain How To Build-Up A Bad Smell Of A Water Heater
If your water has started to smell like rotten eggs, you need to sanitize your water heater.
Bacteria build up in your water heater can cause your water to smell bad; the only way to
effectively get rid of the smell is to throughly clean your water heater. Here are the steps you ll need
to follow in order to get rid of that bad smell:
Turn Off Your Water Heater
The first thing you need to do is turn off your water heater. If you have an electric water heater,
just turn off the manual switch. If you have a gas water heater, you ll need to set the control lever
to pilot. The pilot light should still be lit.
You will also need to close the inlet valve on your water heater for the cold water at this time.
Turn On The Hot Water
Next, you ll need to turn on a nearby hot water faucet. It can be a sink or tub faucet. When you turn
on the hot water faucet, you ll want to have someone also turn on the temperature and pressure
valve located at the top of your water heater at the same time. Doing this will help relieve the
pressure inside of the tank and allow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Add Hydrogen Peroxide
Now you will need to add hydrogen peroxide to your hot water tank. You can use the standard
3% hydrogen peroxide that you can find at your local drugstore. For a small hot water heater, you
ll want to add about two bottles of hydrogen peroxide; for a large water heater, you ll want to add
around four bottles of hydrogen peroxide to your tank.
You can add the hydrogen peroxide by pouring it into the outlet pipe or into the opening near the
temperature and water pressure valve. Once the hydrogen peroxide has been added, close the
temperature and pressure valve. Open the cold water inlet and allow the water heater to fill with
water again. You ll want to close the water inlet value when the tank is almost full.

What Marine Scientist Wants a Ph.D. Anyway? At Coastal Carolina University (CCU) many
students take part in the Marine Science Undergraduate and Graduate programs. These two
successful programs have helped bring Coastal its first Doctoral program. The Ph.D. in Marine
Science is new at CCU and there is so much to learn about it. Questions of why Coastal was fit
for the program and how it differs from other schools programs like it are commonly asked. So
what all does this Ph.D. entail and how is Coastal influenced by it? When adding this program
CCU had to go through many different panels and accreditors to be approved for the Ph.D. The
university had to prove that eve n though other schools in the state have similar programs, it is not
an exact copy of any other program in the state. According to the Program Summary, Due to its
unique focus and curricular structure, the program does not duplicate any existing program in the
state. This is a very important piece of how this doctoral program came to be. If there had been too
much of a similarity to programs at places like Clemson University and The University of South
Carolina, the different panels of accreditors would not have allowed the doctoral program at our

that we made to the state is that we have had a strong undergraduate program for many, many

Explain The Key Features Of The Inquisitorial System

Adversarial System Wikipedia ] The inquisitorial system is the legal system used in most nations

In the adversary there are 8 advantages and disadvantages, The adversary system advantages are;
the judge is an independent and impartial party from the executive or legislative. Both parties are
allowed to present their own cases, and are treated as equals ensuring the basic right of individuals,
and the right to equal opportunity s are confirmed. Each party is also allowed to cross examine the
other parties evidence, to confirm the accuracy of the evidence. Accused persons are judged solely
on the evidence presented at the trial. This determines that evidence such as a past conviction, is
inadmissible. This advantage preserves the principle of treating a person as being innocent until
proven guilty. Equally, this protects the civil rights of the individual, as the adversary system is
structured to permit ten guilty men go free rather than convict one innocent man. Another
advantage that the adversary system has is that the accused has the right to be tried by their peers.
The doctrine of precedent ensures people are treated consistently, and justly. The last advantage is
that all parties have the right to appeal to the Appellate court. Consistently there are also eight
disadvantages, that match the advantages. Firstly, the judge is not completely independent as they
are appointed by the Executive. When individuals are left to present their own case the trial
becomes slow,

Firearms Legislation across the States and its...
The first question to be considered in this paper is the problem of similarity of firearms legislation
across the states and its correspondence with the federal legislation. The hypothesis is that, no
matter how many acts were enacted by the local governments in addition to the federal legislation,
the general idea of the basic federal legislation on this matter has been preserved, and there are no
dramatic changes in the main approaches. The second question arises whether the diversity of
firearms legislation across the states is a consequence of different rates of gunviolence, the
variations in demographics and cultural backgrounds, or the political influences and conventional
approaches to this problem. The hypothesis of the study is that no increase in gun violence within
separate states with stricter or laxer firearms legislation has been even observed, so there is no
direct correlation between gun violence rates and the adoption of new laws regulating the gun
ownership and sale.
The third research question relates to the most important reasons of such diversity in the firearms
legislation amid the states and localities. It relates to the historical, cultural, and political
backgrounds of different states. The most important effect on this diversity is produced by the
political views supported in separate states, and it is unlikely that cultural and social backgrounds,
demographic factors, or the racial content of the population have sufficient influences.

As human we need to educate ourselves about our body and what we put in our body and stop
making life decision because of trend, that is the message that Gatorade is using in the video or
the advertisement. A human body is made of 60 percent water and the body need electrolytes to
keep to stay hydrate on daily basis. Human being need to balance these two because if there is no
balance between water and electrolyte, their can have an effect on the body and it can cause health
issues. Moreover, I think the purpose of the video is to bring awareness to the public about the
danger of drinking too much Gatorade. The drink is full of electrolytes and too much of it can be
bad for your health. Gatorade knows what are the key elements in their sport drink, and these
elements helps individuals with hydration and recovery. By watching the commercial highlighting
the function of the drink. I conclude that Gatorade is targeting athletics as their consumers because
athletics need electrolytes to stay hydrate during workout and recover after workout. In the video
the cashier asks the customer or the man if he know what are electrolytes because the man did not
look like the customers that Gatorade is reaching for to buy their drinks. More to it the cashier ends

Negative Effects Of Internet Piracy
Everyday, there are people that download content illegally. This topic of internet piracy has quickly
soared to be very controversial in recent years. A lot of people know that the internet has grown
tremendously over the past couple of years, but what not as much know is that how the rate and
strength of internet piracyhas grown along with it. However, this growth is actually very
dangerous, and it has actually been found that internet piracy is doing a lot of people great harm.
Even though it has become almost a daily habit for some people, illegally downloading content
can cause people to lose jobs and can cause the economy to lose money. The unauthorized

is estimated that 750,000 jobs have been lost due to online piracy.ВЁ Here, the writer provides a

Wilkerson Summary
After accepting the calling, Wilkerson immediately put action to his faith and revealed to his
congregation and wife that he would be traveling to New York to reach out to these young gang
members. He instantaneously received support from both his wife and congregation. The fuel
for his first trip was promptly paid for by an offering held by the church that day. Shortly
thereafter Wilkerson, along with youth director Miles Hoover, traveled the 350 miles from the
small country town in Pennsylvania to the sprawling city of New York. Upon arrival at the New
York courthouse, Wilkerson and Hoover are denied visitation rights to visit the accused gang
members in jail. Wilkerson attempts to rush past the police to gain an audience with the judge
assigned to the case, resulting in both men being detained and barred from the courthouse. His
attempted was photographed by the press and appeared on the front page of multiple newspapers.

The Theory Of The Human Thought Process
The argument of people being aware of the situations and objects around them has been debated
and researched upon for a very long time. There are philosophers who argue the fact that what
we see and conceive should be taken as absolute fact and there are philosophers who debate that
what we actually see is not to be taken as the truth. In my view, the human thought process is
designed in such a way that it focuses on certain aspects and ignores others. There are things
going on in our day to day lives that we can take in one way, but the reality might actually be
very different. Hence, I support the argument that we, as humans, do not know our minds very
well. One such person who defends such a claim is an American philosopher known as Daniel
Dennett. He argues that every single person on this world considers themselves a pioneer of the
term consciousness. This is because consciousness is not a subject that is limited to only
pioneers. Every single person experiences consciousness and there fore, they all have a view on
their version of consciousness and hence, they consider themselves experts regarding the topic.
He gave an example of a person who performed a magic trick towards an audience and when the
audience was questioned on how he performed those tricks, they each had a different interpretation
of what they saw. None of the things that they saw were actually demonstrated by the magician.
He says How can it be that there are so many changes going on and yet we are

Ronaldo s Acceptance Of Goods By Benjamin
5.Ronaldo s acceptance of goods by Benjamin
Here arises the issue of whether Benjamin had the authority to sale the cargo to Ronaldo. It can be
claimed that there are two opinions on this subject.
On the one hand Benjamin never became lawful holder of the shipment under s.19(3) of SOGA
1979 and as a result he had no right on the goods property. This fact and in combination with
s.21(1) gives no property to Ronaldo.
On the other hand Ronaldo can rely on s.25(1), as Benjamin did not notice him regarding his
previous transaction with Maurice. Benjamin got the cargo from Maurice in good faith33, which
also happened with Ronaldo receiving the same Bill of Lading from Benjamin in line with the
definitions given in s.2(1) s.2(4), paying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, if we take the view that property had not passed to Benjamin, then s.39(2) also
gives Maurice the right of stoppage of the goods as s.41(c) s.44 confirm that the unpaid seller
Maurice has exercisable rights on the goods. However, what confuses the case is that Benjamin
had already sold the cargo to Ronaldo. If Maurice had taken action against Benjamin prior to the
re sale, then no such issue would have arisen, as the property would be an issue between these two
parties which means that Maurice could exercise his aforementioned rights against him , but now a
third person has the title of the goods and has nothing to do with the conflict between Benjamin
and Maurice since he acted in good faith. Accordingly, under s.43(1)(b) Maurice s rights on the
cargo cease to exist, since Ronaldo lawfully obtained the bill of lading by Benjamin. In support of
his statement s.47(2)(a) also provides that no lien, retention or stoppage can be exercised on the
consignment.
To sum up, since the action against Benjamin was effected after Ronaldo had acquired the title of
the goods, Maurice had no right on the cargo.

Representation of Indigenous Cultures in the Rabbits and...
Representation of Indigenous Cultures Since the European settlement of Australia, the
Indigenous people have been represented in a myriad of ways. The Rabbits (1998), an
allegorical picture book by John Marsden (writer) and Shaun Tan (illustrator) and Rabbit Proof
Fence (2002), a film directed by Phillip Noyce, are just two examples of this. Techniques such as
music, changing camera angles and symbolism are utilised in Rabbit Proof Fence to represent the
Aboriginal people as strong willed and spiritual and in The Rabbits, exaggeration, different colour
themes and perspective are used to portray the Aborigines as technologically inferior and
overwhelmed against the Europeans. In both texts, the Indigenous people are represented as... Show

When the girls do collapse onto the ground, Molly sees an eagle soaring in the sky above them.
This eagle, as explained by Molly s mother in opening scene, was a symbol of protection and
safety in Aboriginal culture. The appearance of this eagle in their time of need emphasises how the
Aboriginals are truly bonded, psychologically and physically, to their land and culture. In this
scene, the camera shifts back and forth between their elders back at Jigalong and the girls in the
desert. This constant transition conveys the relationship between the girls (protected by the eagle)
and the elders praying in an Aboriginal dialect for the girl s safety. With these few examples, we can
see how the Indigenous people have a special bond with their land through their cultural religion,
which, in return, assists them when it is needed. Powerlessness of the Numbats (Aboriginals)
against the Rabbits (Europeans) in The Rabbits is shown through the use of words within the mise

through very short, but powerful sentences such as: Sometimes we had fights/But there were too

the appropriate scenario that is occurring in each panel. With Shaun Tan, he conveys the powerless

Hamlet s Use Of Ophelia As A Pawn In Hamlet
The play Hamlet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare. The story is set in the Kingdom of
Denmark, which dramatizes the revenge of Prince Hamlet upon his uncle Claudius. According to
the Ghost of Hamlet s father, Claudius had murdered his own brother and seized the throne, also
marrying his deceased brother s wife. Throughout the play, the story focuses on Hamlets plan to
revenge Claudius. However, many characters along the way were victimized by others for their
own gain. The Ghostuses Hamlet as a pawn; Hamlet uses Ophelia as a pawn and Claudius uses
Laertes as a pawn, which ultimately caused their own death.
At the beginning of the play, Hamlet is the first to be used as pawn when the Ghost uses him to kill

the reason for his strange behavior is due to her rejection of any communication with him. Even
though Ophelia does not know she is part of Hamlet s plan, she believes that Hamlet s behavior is
true. She is devastated and confused and is convinced that he has lost his mind. When they meet

what to believe. She has become a key component to Hamlet s plan although it slowly begins to
destroy her. She is unable to control her grief due to the broken promises, cruel insults and sense of
abandonment she feels from Hamlet. In result, she brings herself into a destructive madness. She

How Elvis Influenced And Changed The Entertainment...
In order to appropriately analyze the question of How Elvis influenced and changed the
entertainment industry of Rock n Roll the reader must first clearly define and understand the
timing and age of the development of his musical career as well as the characteristics of his
music. When attempting to clearly understand the implications of his influence on the era, the
reader must fully comprehend his early life and the development of his musical career, the type
of music he portrayed to his audience, and how he revolutionized and influenced Rock n Roll.
These facts will be analyzed using the combination of historical data and current articles for
determining his influence in the 1950s. Regardless of where and how he grew up, it is well
documented that his music influenced the Rock n Roll era. Elvis Aaron Presley was known to
be a legendary American singer, musician, and actor from the 1950s to late 1970s. He is

The Divine Command Theorist Approach
Making decisions can be easy at times when it does not require much thought; however, it can be
complicated, especially when it involves people s lives. If, for instance, there is a boat holding
seventy five people but it should only hold fifty in order to ensure the safety of the passengers
and lessen the risk of the boat sinking, who will be asked to leave the boat? There are also one
hundred individuals in the water whose lives must be considered; what can be done in a tight
situation such as this one where time is not in your hands? It is important to remember only fifty
people can be saved while one hundred and twenty five individuals might die. This can prove to be
a strenuous and gut wrenching challenge. There are several different... Show more content on

In this situation this theory would suggest to do what is just, but overall what God believes to
be right. According to this theory, God believes that the people on the boat as well as those in
the water should not be left to die. The people on the boat cannot morally abandon the rest and
leave them to die. A divine command theorist pays very close attention to every person on the
boat as well as the those in the water. Overall, the individual will make a decision based on what
is thought to be good by God despite not establishing what is wrong or right, as mentioned by
Plato, making it debatable (Vaughn 17). Since divine theorists view the Ten Commandments as
God s morals codes, it is suggested by such theorist that by choosing to leave a great amount of
the individuals behind, it is immoral; God says individuals shall help their neighbor. With this
information, there comes a time in which God, himself, has to make these types of decisions, and
by believing in him, a divine theorist will unfortunately sacrifice some people, but not without
saving as many people as they possibly can. While doing what is thought to be right by God, they
will, nonetheless, leave individuals behind and essentially, commit murder, which can be seen as a
controversial dilemma. In one way or another, they are somehow going to take an action that leads
to an immoral result. Not everyone will be saved without risking

Memoirs Of Hadrian By Marguerite Yourcenar
Memoirs of Hadrian is a timeless historical novel that describes the life and accomplishments of
the great Roman Emperor Hadrian and the impact he had culturally on western civilization. The
story is told from Hadrian s own point of view when he is an old man looking back on his life
and is written as a letter to Marcus Aurelious who he had chosen to be his successor as emperor.
This book sheds light on the achievements that Hadrianmade during his reign while also providing
an interesting perspective since the novel is written from a first person point of view. Overall I
feel that the author Marguerite Yourcenar did a wonderful job of bringing such an interesting
character to life while still remaining factual in regards to the important historical aspects of
Hadrian s reign. The book begins with Hadrian as an old man nearing his deathbed and wanting
to give his adopted successor Marcus Aurelious a personal account of his life and reign in order
to help prepare him for the role he is going to undertake soon. Hadrian tells Marcus that he was
born in Italica and his family was Spanish. His father was a Senator but Hadrian s family was not
one of wealth. His father passes away when Hadrian is only twelve years old and his mother never
remarries, remaining a widow the rest of her life. Hadrian goes to Spain to receive his education
where he becomes fascinated with the more philosophical subjects, especially anything relating to
Greek culture. In the book Hadrian feels that

In taste tests, Canadian Club has surpassed competitors like Crown Royal and Jack Daniels and
its price should reflect this. By Marking up its price from $23.40 for a 26 oz bottle to
approximately $30.00, consumers will observe Canadian Club to be of higher quality and value.
It is highly recommended that nothing be changed about the product itself. In order to maintain its
classic status, the bottle, labeling, flavour, and production process should remain true to its original
state. Changing the bottle and labeling of Canadian Club may also result in being poorly received
by current customers and Canadian Club may lose sales.
As a result of strict Canadian liquor distribution laws, there is very little that can be done or can
be recommended in terms of determining the placement of Canadian Club. Canadian Club is
available in any licensed store and most bars across Canada (LCBO, 2011).
To establish a future customer base, creating and promoting a unique new cocktail menu featuring
Canadian Club as the cocktail base would be effective. There have been many Boardwalk Empire
inspired cocktails created with Canadian Club Whisky, that can be made up into a small booklet,
sold with a 26 oz bottle of Canadian Club. Some of these drinks include the Boardwalk Manhattan,
the Tea Totaller Teaser, and the Top Hat (Loughlin, C, 2010).
Teaming up Canadian Club and HBO s Boardwalk Empire with a new contest promotion would
work beneficially for both parties.

Non Aboriginal Community Research Paper
Introduction
This paper will define what a community is and discuss some of the strengths and the differences
between Australian Aboriginal Communities and Australian Non Aboriginal Communities.
What is Community?
A community is described by many as a group of people who have the same ideologies on their
cohabitation. They share the same interests and more often know how to work together.
The first meaning of community as a locality refers to the territorial or geographic notion of
community the neighbourhood, town or city. The Second meaning of community, the relational
community, refers to qualities of human interaction and social ties that draw people together
(Heller 1989, pp.3 cited in Taylor, Wilkinson and Cheers, 2008). Whereas... Show more content on

In Non Aboriginal communities, the commonality of ethnicity forms the basis of community life
whereas in Aboriginal communities, kinship is an important factor holding community life together
(Taylor, Wilkinson and Cheers, 2008).
As the times and generations change communities of the future will be very different from the ones
we live in today. Geis, D Kutzmark, T. (1995) noted that communities will need to be different
because, as we move through the end of the twentieth century and into the twenty first, we face a
whole new set of socioeconomic, technological, and global forces that are unlike those that brought
us to where we are today.
Conclusion
Communities must have a base structure however there are fundamental differences when looking
at different communities as each community is different in many ways. For example a rural
community may be strengthened by local initiatives to diversify its economy while some
Aboriginal Communities may be strengthened through improving the quality of relationships with
members of its community such as the Djinda Falcons Program.
While all communities need social interaction to foster trust, reciprocity, tolerance and leadership
the ways in which these qualities are developed within Aboriginal and Non Aboriginal Communities
will vary to other non Aboriginal

The United States And Saudi Arabia
It s a particularly noteworthy development when oil prices are down by 50%. During the past
decade, the price of oil has traveled from $60 per barrel to its peak of $146 during 2009, then in
2015 it fell into a steep decline again to below $50. Since oil is sold in a global market, the
increase or decrease of its price has a tremendous impact on all economies throughout the world.
This research goes in depth on how the shift in oil prices has affected Saudi Arabiaand the US s
economies, the world s biggest oil producers. The issue will be broken down to three
components; a brief summary of the laws and regulations that possibly affected the change in oil
prices, how it is currently affecting the US and Saudi Arabia s economies, and their quest for
alternative solutions. The purpose of this research is to analyze how both the United States and
Saudi Arabia have been affected and what progressive measures they are willing to take in
response to the steep decline of oil prices.
Origin of recent decline in oil prices Aside from the 2008 crisis, prices of oil have never been cut
in half in a matter of months since 1900 until just recently in 2014. What might ve caused this
steep decrease in prices? Well, it appears as though the surge in US oil production had a primary
role in breaking the market. Meanwhile, demand had remained fairly stagnant. Extensive federal
intervention into the United States oil and gas markets began back in 1930s and continued well
through the

when he actually left. I remember all of my emotions. It was a nice sunny day and my parents

Personally, I would recommend Dr. Frank Cantrell, who is a well known physician in Fresno in
the field of neurology. I have seen many EMG/NCV studies from his office. I also confirmed Dr.
Cantrell is within our MPN. Therefore, it is my recommendation we send an authorization to Dr.
Cantrell for the sole purpose of obtaining an EMG of the right upper extremity as requested by Dr.

A Baseball Proposal Essay
A Baseball Proposal Ever since the creation of America s favorite pastime, baseball, cheating has
been an integral part of the game. Each era of baseballhas offered new and improved techniques
for cheating the game of baseball. Cheating has become a common occurrence in baseball, from
the 1919 Chicago Black Sox, who were paid to throw the World Series, to Ty Cobb sharpening
the spikes on his shoe to scare off fielders from tagging him out. Other famous cheating acts

There are some facts concerning steroid use in recent years: Ken Caminiti, the Most Valuable
Player (MVP) in 1996, admitted to steroid use which В‘coincidentally began the same year he
won the MVP. Mark McGwire, who in 1998 broke the homerun record by hitting seventy in one
year, has testified to Congress that he had used steroids while playing. Testifying with McGwire
were fellow superstars Jason Giambi and Rafael Palmero. Giambi admitted to abuse of steroids
while Palmero, who denied ever using steroids, acknowledged that he knew of people who did use
steroids. (He was later caught).
Following an investigation by Congress, Major League Baseball (MLB) was forced to establish a
testing policy with severe punishments for all those testing positive to performance enhancing
drugs. In 2004, MLB replaced a lax policy with a rule that would give players a 10 game
suspension for a first time offense, 30 games for a second offense, 60 games for a third offense,
and an entire year for the fourth. After continuous harassment by Congress, MLB decided to
insert a new policy where the first steroid use would be penalized with a 50 game suspension, the
second time a 100 game suspension, and the third time an expulsion from baseball. Since 2004,
thirteen major league baseball players have been suspended for steroids, and over fifty minor
leaguers have been caught as well. One of the major league players who was caught is Rafael
Palmero, who a

Effect Of Amylase On Bread
THE EFFECT OF AMYLASE ON BREAD
What is bread? Bread is a food made of flour, water, and yeast mixed together and baked. In bread
making, our main focus will be on the enzyme amylase. In wheat, there is naturally appearing
amylase. Amylase in the shape of malted barley can be mixed with flour in minor amounts to
achieve a proper balance of enzymes. The key purpose of amylase in wheat flour is to break down
complex starches into simple sugars. Without this key process happening in the dough,
fermentation would not occur because yeast needs simple sugars in order to make carbon dioxide.
A proper balance of natural amylase in wheat flour is needed in order to make bread that is
accurately fermented with a good colored crust and well developed flavor. ... Show more content on

Numerous enzymes are needed in dough to break down starch into simple sugars that yeast can
digest. The process is a very complex one, and includes the enzymes alpha amylase and beta
amylase. Starch occurs in two different forms, a branched form called amylopectin and an
unbranched chain called amylose.
The dough must contain some alpha amylase to be able to digest the portion of starch that is
amylopectin. If the alpha amylase is too much in the dough the starch will completely liquify. Alpha
amylase attacks starch virtually wherever along its chains, producing smaller chains of different
lengths. These chains can hold smaller units called dextrin s that contain numerous units of glucose.
Beta amylase can then digest these dextrin s into maltose.
Flour always has a suitable supply of beta amylase that can digest amylose totally into sugars.
Beta amylase attacks amylose the chains and breaks them into molecules of maltose. Maltose is a
disaccharide (A disaccharide is the sugar formed when two simple sugars are joined by glyosidic
linkage) containing two glucose

Socio Cultural Impacts of Tourism
Tourism is an activity done by an individual or a group of individuals, which leads to a motion
from a place to another. From a country to another for performing a specific task or it is a visit to
a place or several places in the purpose of entertaining which leads to an awareness of other
civilizations and cultures, also increasing the knowledge of countries, cultures, and history (Central
Department of TourismSummer Resorts 2006). Tourism is an important industry that depends on
culture and science. According to the Miriam s Webster s dictionary environment is defined as: the
aggregate of social and cultural conditions that influence the life of an individual or community.

The positive impacts of tourism include the economic and socio culture impact on the Jamaican
society. Tourism increases employment opportunities. Additional jobs, ranging from low wage
entry level to high paying professional positions in management and technical fields, generate
income and raise standards of living. Particularly in rural areas, the diversification created by
tourism helps communities that are possibly dependent on only one industry. As tourism grows,
additional opportunities are created for investment, development, and infrastructure spending.
Tourism often induces improvements in public utilities such as water, sewer, sidewalks, lighting,
parking, public restrooms, litter control, and landscaping. Such improvements benefit tourists and
residents alike. Likewise, tourism encourages improvements in transport infrastructure resulting in
upgraded roads, airports, public transportation, and non traditional transportation (e.g., trails).
Tourism encourages new elements to join the retail mix, increasing opportunities for shopping and
adding healthy competitiveness. It often increases a community s tax revenues. Lodging and sales
taxes most notably increase but additional tax revenues include air travel and other transportation
taxes, business taxes, and fuel taxes. New jobs generate

Aspects Of Mood Presented Into The Love Song Of J. Alfred...
Aspects of Mood Presented Through Setting in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock and
Something Whispered in the Shakuhachi
The element of setting plays an important part in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T. S.
Eliot and Something Whispered in the Shakuhachi by Garrett Hongo as they give readers a sense of
the narrators emotions and perspectives. Although the settings of both poems are presented in
similar ways, they reflect on different aspects of the narrators mood.
First of all, the settings in both poems are presented explicitly. In The Love Song of J. Alfred
Prufrock , details and features of the period and occasion are stated in each stanza. Phrases such
as half deserted streets (Eliot 4), one night cheap hotels (6), the yellow fog (15) and soft October
night (21) give readers a general idea of the surroundings of the narrator, which is a gloomy,
foggy city like London. The poem Something Whispered in the Shakuhachi takes place in three
periods: Before the war, during the war and after the war. The text shows the narrator grows
bamboo in ditches next to the fields ( Hongo 9), lines like all through relocation (55) and in the
desert where they put us (56) indicate he is ordered to be in relocation camp in the deserts when
World War Two takes place, and he lives on a land next to the swamp (65) after the war. Similar to
The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock , this poem also has the description of its setting provided, yet
not as

Comparing The Yellow Wallpaper And A Pair Of Silk Stockings The stories A Pair of Silk Stockings , The Story of an Hour and The Yellow Wallpaper are similar in multiple ways although they also contrast from each other. All three stories were published in the 1890 s and all shared a similar theme which was related to the time period. Comparing and contrasting the stories maintain and vary from each other on components such as the theme, setting, and main characters which will be scrutinized in the following. The story A Pair of Silk Stockings consists of the Mrs. Sommers, the main character, receives fifteen dollars and decides to go spend the money on clothing for her children. Before beginning to shop , Mrs. Sommers sees some silk stockings and is intrigued by them. She buys the stockings instead of buying the clothes for her children. The research put into the lonely topic consists of psychologist s opinions and real events. For example, the books Sherry Turkle wrote like Life on the screen and Alone together can see how serious the impact is. Another effect is loneliness is not a matter of external conditions but rather more of a psychological state, which can cause neuroticism, or anxiety with due time. • 4. What Is Teenage Curfew Persuasive Essay Many young teenagers enjoy living life on the edge; they often think or see themselves as fully grown adults, capable of making their own decisions, and having the freedom that comes with it. But more often than not, teenagers are not fully able to grasp the sense of maturity and consequence in every day life, much less out in the real world. In order to keep them safe and away from harm, a curfew is a perfect wall for teens to stay behind. Everyone remembers that, at least once as a child, they have dreamt of having the freedom, will, and maturity that their parent or guardian possesses. Even today, children often pretend to be a business man or president; someone that they hope to be when they get older. True, teenagers are closer to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teenagers are often seen as reckless and immature, rather than having the calm and collected composure that an adult is seen with. This immaturity can sometimes be so high, they simply refuse to take the fall for the decisions they made; some fail to realize that, in real life, everyone must take the good with the bad, not solely claim the benefits. This fragile flaw can very much prove fatal, so a curfew can very much save young citizens from themselves. Many television shows and movies are known to give a young character an episode or scene about him or her, and it often runs down the same road; the child or teen does something reckless or idiotic, they try extremely hard to fix it (but it often makes things worse), and when they fail, they must face the consequences. A well known example is from the hit Cartoon Network show The Amazing world or Gumball, where the main character Gumball causes trouble with little or no intention. In one specific episode, Gumball accidentally damages a rented DVD, and when he tries to fix it, he ends up breaking it. This may seem like a silly show, but there is one big comparison between his actions and real life: In every episode, such as the DVD episode, he is forced to face the ... • 5. The Pros and Cons of Homework Essay Homework: Does it Help, or Harm Us? When a class is almost over and a teacher starts assigning homework, every student s heart drops. When students have an excess of homework, they do not do as well. Even though homework is a good tool to help teachers teach students subjects, teachers should give less homeworkbecause too much homework causes mental health issues in students and less homework helps improve test scores. The first reason teachers should give students less homework is that it takes away their childhood. When a student goes to school for seven hours a day, and then goes home to three hours of homework, they do not get to be a kid. It is suggested that student adopt an eight eight eight schedule. The next reason too much homework is harmful to students is that studies show more homework to cause lower test scores. One to two hours of homework a week does not cause a major change in test scores (Wolchover). There is no evidence of homework having any academic benefit in elementary or middle school, and the academic benefit found in high school is very weak (Kohn). Homework is not shown to help students academically until grades ten through twelve (Wolchover). There is also no proof that homework increases good study habits in students (Kohn). On top of too much homework making standardized test scores lower, much of this homework is just busy work (Wolchover). Many teachers ask their student to re write pages in a textbook. This just causes the student to spend time on something that has no real purpose. Remedial work has no positive effect on students. It just takes up more time ( Too Much Homework Can Cause Stress, Depression and Lower Grades, Studies Suggest ). Even homework that is useful in some way should be limited. Each narratives conflict with one another that is presented. It seems that the contentions of the narratives are false. So, the question is why are there three accounts for the conversion of Paul? To my comprehension of the first narrative, Acts 9 seems to be coming from Luke s point of view. I think that Luke is only giving out just the basic detail of Saul s conversion to Christ. I think Like s primary function was to only sketch out the basic details of the narratives. In Acts 22, it shows how Paul is now defending his change from being an enemy to supporter of Christianity, to his Hebrew fellow men . In this chapter it shows how there is a connection between Paul s Jewish background and his present religious bearing. Paul wanted to show his Israelite brothers that there is no conflict between Judaismand Christianity. Acts chapter 26, tells us another one of Paul s defense. Each party is also allowed to cross examine the other parties evidence, to confirm the accuracy of the evidence. Accused persons are judged solely on the evidence presented at the trial. This determines that evidence such as a past conviction, is inadmissible. This advantage preserves the principle of treating a person as being innocent until proven guilty. Equally, this protects the civil rights of the individual, as the adversary system is structured to permit ten guilty men go free rather than convict one innocent man. Another advantage that the adversary system has is that the accused has the right to be tried by their peers. The doctrine of precedent ensures people are treated consistently, and justly. The first question to be considered in this paper is the problem of similarity of firearms legislation across the states and its correspondence with the federal legislation. The hypothesis is that, no matter how many acts were enacted by the local governments in addition to the federal legislation, the general idea of the basic federal legislation on this matter has been preserved, and there are no dramatic changes in the main approaches. The second question arises whether the diversity of firearms legislation across the states is a consequence of different rates of gunviolence, the variations in demographics and cultural backgrounds, or the political influences and conventional approaches to this problem. The hypothesis of the study is that no increase in gun violence within separate states with stricter or laxer firearms legislation has been even observed, so there is no direct correlation between gun violence rates and the adoption of new laws regulating the gun ownership and sale. The third research question relates to the most important reasons of such diversity in the firearms legislation amid the states and localities. It relates to the historical, cultural, and political backgrounds of different states. The most important effect on this diversity is produced by the political views supported in separate states, and it is unlikely that cultural and social backgrounds, demographic factors, or the racial content of the population have sufficient influences. ... There are philosophers who argue the fact that what we see and conceive should be taken as absolute fact and there are philosophers who debate that what we actually see is not to be taken as the truth. In my view, the human thought process is designed in such a way that it focuses on certain aspects and ignores others. There are things going on in our day to day lives that we can take in one way, but the reality might actually be very different. Hence, I support the argument that we, as humans, do not know our minds very well. One such person who defends such a claim is an American philosopher known as Daniel Dennett. He argues that every single person on this world considers themselves a pioneer of the term consciousness. This is because consciousness is not a subject that is limited to only pioneers. Every single person experiences consciousness and there fore, they all have a view on their version of consciousness and hence, they consider themselves experts regarding the topic. It can be claimed that there are two opinions on this subject. On the one hand Benjamin never became lawful holder of the shipment under s.19(3) of SOGA 1979 and as a result he had no right on the goods property. This fact and in combination with s.21(1) gives no property to Ronaldo. On the other hand Ronaldo can rely on s.25(1), as Benjamin did not notice him regarding his previous transaction with Maurice. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, if we take the view that property had not passed to Benjamin, then s.39(2) also gives Maurice the right of stoppage of the goods as s.41(c) s.44 confirm that the unpaid seller Maurice has exercisable rights on the goods. However, what confuses the case is that Benjamin had already sold the cargo to Ronaldo. If Maurice had taken action against Benjamin prior to the re sale, then no such issue would have arisen, as the property would be an issue between these two parties which means that Maurice could exercise his aforementioned rights against him , but now a third person has the title of the goods and has nothing to do with the conflict between Benjamin and Maurice since he acted in good faith. Representation of Indigenous Cultures Since the European settlement of Australia, the Indigenous people have been represented in a myriad of ways. The Rabbits (1998), an allegorical picture book by John Marsden (writer) and Shaun Tan (illustrator) and Rabbit Proof Fence (2002), a film directed by Phillip Noyce, are just two examples of this. Techniques such as music, changing camera angles and symbolism are utilised in Rabbit Proof Fence to represent the Aboriginal people as strong willed and spiritual and in The Rabbits, exaggeration, different colour themes and perspective are used to portray the Aborigines as technologically inferior and overwhelmed against the Europeans. In both texts, the Indigenous people are represented as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the girls do collapse onto the ground, Molly sees an eagle soaring in the sky above them. This eagle, as explained by Molly s mother in opening scene, was a symbol of protection and safety in Aboriginal culture. The appearance of this eagle in their time of need emphasises how the Aboriginals are truly bonded, psychologically and physically, to their land and culture. In this scene, the camera shifts back and forth between their elders back at Jigalong and the girls in the desert. This constant transition conveys the relationship between the girls (protected by the eagle) and the elders praying in an Aboriginal dialect for the girl s safety. With these few examples, we can see how the Indigenous people have a special bond with their land through their cultural religion, which, in return, assists them when it is needed. Powerlessness of the Numbats (Aboriginals) against the Rabbits (Europeans) in The Rabbits is shown through the use of words within the mise en scene. Within this picture book, Marsden contributes to the meaning of the story to the readers through very short, but powerful sentences such as: Sometimes we had fights/But there were too many rabbits/We lost the fights. Since oil is sold in a global market, the increase or decrease of its price has a tremendous impact on all economies throughout the world. This research goes in depth on how the shift in oil prices has affected Saudi Arabiaand the US s economies, the world s biggest oil producers. The issue will be broken down to three components; a brief summary of the laws and regulations that possibly affected the change in oil prices, how it is currently affecting the US and Saudi Arabia s economies, and their quest for alternative solutions. In bread making, our main focus will be on the enzyme amylase. In wheat, there is naturally appearing amylase. Amylase in the shape of malted barley can be mixed with flour in minor amounts to achieve a proper balance of enzymes. The key purpose of amylase in wheat flour is to break down complex starches into simple sugars. A proper balance of natural amylase in wheat flour is needed in order to make bread that is accurately fermented with a good colored crust and well developed flavor. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Numerous enzymes are needed in dough to break down starch into simple sugars that yeast can digest. The process is a very complex one, and includes the enzymes alpha amylase and beta amylase. Starch occurs in two different forms, a branched form called amylopectin and an unbranched chain called amylose. The dough must contain some alpha amylase to be able to digest the portion of starch that is amylopectin. If the alpha amylase is too much in the dough the starch will completely liquify. Alpha amylase attacks starch virtually wherever along its chains, producing smaller chains of different lengths. Alfred Prufrock and Something Whispered in the Shakuhachi The element of setting plays an important part in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T. S. Eliot and Something Whispered in the Shakuhachi by Garrett Hongo as they give readers a sense of the narrators emotions and perspectives. Although the settings of both poems are presented in similar ways, they reflect on different aspects of the narrators mood. First of all, the settings in both poems are presented explicitly. In The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock , details and features of the period and occasion are stated in each stanza.
