1. CHALLENGES IN TEACHING WORK
Since long time ago the education have had a variety of problems that delay the learning in
some students, at the same time this kind of problems are the challenges that the teacher has
to face in the education. Large class sizes, high poverty rates, low family literacy, weak
school-family relationships, high student mobility, many schools face these challenges to
student achievement
First of all, adolescence is the central topic in secondary education, this stage of the life; as
we know, is the most changeable and important step of our lives just because is in this phase
when each one discovers his/her identity. But is also true that is here when the people are in
the higher risk, because is the stage when we know new things. Is here when we as teachers
have the first challenge, to know our students, understand them and try to help them based in
their needs.
Another challenge in the teacher´s job is to organize the time of the class, is very difficult to
do a lot of activities in just one hour of class, here we have a big decision between finish a
topic or understand the topic. The education system tell us that is important to follow the
program and finish it but it is almost impossible to do it because lots of factors like each
students is different, therefore, no one learn in the same way; another is the amount of the
students that we have in public schools, and finally if everybody understand the topic. What
we should do as teachers? I think that the response is in each one of us is depending in what
we want leave in our students, surface information or knowledge.
During my practices teaching in a secondary school. I wondered myself many times how I
could imply another language in students that are accustomed just to talk Spanish, there were
many doubts like if they could understand me if I talk in English, because based in the

2. program the English teacher we should teach just in English in order to take students to the
context of the language, but how we can do it if they are exposed just three hours per week to
the new language and the rest to the Spanish? Now the new challenge as English teacher is
use all the sources like the body, the eyes, the stuff, etc to help us in the teaching of English. I
think this dare is so difficult and is with the experience that we will achieve it.
