The Hardest Sport Of Basketball
Basketball is one of the most talked about topics, as well as one of the most played games.
Compared to other sports like American football and baseball, basketball is known around the world
for the unique play style and rules of the game. It is a sport many people love to play, but people can
take it too seriously which makes competition very stiff. In this decade, basketball is one of the
hardest sport to be successful in, not because of the rules and playstyles; but the competition and
how many people want to play. In an actual basketball game it would be five on five on the court. In
total one team could probably only take around ten to thirteen people. In other sports like soccer,
would have eleven players on the field or sports format in total, each team could have about twenty
five to thirty people on one team, football could have up to fifty people on one team. This shows
why basketball is the hardest sport to play in todays' world; because when people want to make it as
a profession, not a lot can be chosen. Even when some make it to the pros, not everybody on the
team even gets to play in the game; sometimes people would be allowed to play for a small portion
of time. However it is something that still motivates people to play the sport of basketball, it helps
them make a better name for themselves so that they would have a bright future. Basketball overall
changed from the eighties and nineties to now; because of unfairness in competition, helping kids

National Basketbal Math
Basketball is a game that uses many different types of math. Basketball is played on a rectangular
court and made up of two five player teams. Two guards, two forwards, and one center make up the
five players on each team. All five players play offense as well as defense. In Professional
Basketball a game lasts for 48 minutes which is broken up into four quarters. 48 divided by 4 = 12,
therefore each quarter lasts 12 minutes. Whichever team has the most points at the end of the game
is the winner. When a game is tied after the rule time has ended, the teams play overtime periods
until one team ends an overtime period with more points and is therefore the winner. There are two
ways an offensive team can score points. The first way to score is to make a basket, which is worth
2 or 3 points, depending on the distance of the shot. The second way to score is a foul shot, also
called a free throw. Every foul shot is taken from what is called the "free throw" line. The free throw
line is 15 feet away from the basket which is also equal to 4.6 meters. The free throw is worth one
point. The National ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For players, statistics can be used to determine individual strengths and weaknesses. For viewers,
statistics is used to determine the value of players and analyze the performance of an individual or
the entire team. Percentages are a common way of comparing players' performances. It is used to get
values like the rebound amount, which is the percentage of missed shots a player rebounds while on
the court. Statistics is also used to rank a player based on the number of shots, steals and assists
made during a game. Averages are used to get values like the points per game average, and ratios are
used to get values like the turnover to assist ratio. So there are many ways basketball involves math,

Change In The Newhalen School
CHANGE
I'm not going to bore you with facts you probably won't recollect and I'm not going to act as if I am
supercilious to this issue, but I am one for a change. Everything is going to change eventually, the
court outside of the Newhalen School needs to change. The court is getting superannuated and
precarious, the basketball rim and backboard is getting rusty and worn down by the years of snow,
wind, and rain. We need a safe environment for our future generation. This court right now is intact,
but imagine it years from now. It would collapse. The rim looks like it's about to break off every
time I go to shoot around there, and people should fear of that happening. If the rim did fall it would
induce serious damage to the victim of that happening. The court currently is disintegrating and the
nails that are holding the boards together are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The National NBAAssociation: The Evolution Of The...
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is an ever–changing league, and teams change their
style of play and strategy to win games frequently. Furthermore, the introduction of the three–point
field goal after the NBA and ABA merger started a revolution in basketball strategy. A trend began
where teams began to attempt more threes every year. However, most NBA team's styles to win
games did not center on shooting three pointers. During the 1980s and 1990s, team strategy
revolved around centers (a position in basketball that is usually the tallest man on the team) and
isolation play, and this style of play peaked by the mid 2000s. The pace of play became very slow
and the game was inefficient. Over the last ten years, more teams began

When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up by mother, I always quickly responded by saying
something that I thought would please her like a doctor or firefighter. Secretly, I did not want to do
any of those things, although they both are respected and prestigious career choices. I, however,
dreamed of playing in the National basketball Association (NBA) and traveling the world as a
professional basketball player. I did not posses the courage to tell my mother because she wanted
my twin brother and I to be accomplished educators or doctors, but even at the age of six, I told
myself if I put my mind to it, I could do anything. Making my dream a reality was not easy and
there have been many twists and turns.
I have had a passion to play basketball since I was six years old. Surprisingly, I did not participate in
any youth basketball leagues growing up. My mother like all mothers was protective and cared more
about my academics, so my twin brother and I were reduced to playing in the front yard with other
children in the neighborhood. With the help of friends and hours of practice, I was able to make the
team my 7th and 8th grade year. Unfortunately, my mother

Dr. Naismith: The Sport Of Basketball
The game of basketball has an interesting origin. Dr.Naismith , an instructor in a college in America
was thinking of a game that could be played indoors during winter months. He hit upon the novel
idea of playing a game with the ball and two baskets nailed to the opposite walls of a gymnasium. In
order to score a goal, a team had to throw the ball into the basket of the rival team. Initially,
whenever a goal was scored, the ball had to be retieved by climbing on the baskets. In the
beginning, the number of players in the team also happened to be unwidely. With the passage of
time, the game became highly popular and specific rules were laided down. These rules have since
undergone many changes. Basketball today is a high–speed ball game and it is one of the highly
popular games in America. The students of the college where the game has been originated, took it

Insert your rough draft here: The NBA is a national sport that is gaining traction rapidly. Previously,
the NBA surpassed the MLB in becoming the second most popular sport and surprisingly, catching
up to the NFL."12 years in and the one and done's have shaped the face of college basketball."
(Griffin)It started in 2006 when the NBA passed a rule saying players out of high school had to be
one year removed from high school in order to enter the draft and since then players have done a lot
of different things.
The most obvious and common option is to spend a year in college which "This typically forces
otherwise–unwilling participants to go to college for one year."(Jayarajah)The other options are to

if she would take me to go get the game, and she said she would. We got to the store, and we looked
at the price. Oh my goodness this game was a ninety dollar game. My mom strongly told me that if
she bought this game then I would be doing chores for a month straight. Chores weren 't so bad so I

floor, and many many fans were filling the seats. I was wondering still where I was. I seen many of
the NBA superstars like Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, and Lebron James on the sideline seats.
My name was finally called over from somewhere. It was the bench with all other white jerseys in a
huddle. I ran over to the huddle, and seen many of the NBA rookies like D 'angelo Russell, Karl
Anthony Towns, and Jahlil Okafor. I gathered in the huddle, and our coach was speaking about our
game plan. I was so confused on where I was still. Until D 'angelo Russell announced, "welcome to
my career!" My eyes opened so wide with a surprised face. The scoreboard went off which told us
the game was about to begin.
The jump ball went to us the Elites, and I was at point guard position, while D 'angelo was at
shooting guard. I passed the ball to him on a fast break and lead him to a nice two point slam. The
game was close the whole game, but then finally the shot clock read twenty seconds. The Stars had
the ball, and were coming down the court. All I would hear was the squeaking shoes from the sticky
floor. There best shooter took a three point shot for the lead. He missed and D 'angelo got the

Abstract (150 words)
This paper explores the history of the relationship of National Basketball Association and National
Basketball Players Association.
It's really the behind the scenes acts of the players and owners that dictate what we watch on
television. This behind the scenes activity is the act of collective bargaining, which has existed since
the begging. Collective bargaining in sports is the process by which owners in the professional
sports leagues negotiate with the players in their league on every issue that affects the sport. In this
paper we are going to focus on the NBA (NATIONAL Basketball Association) National Basketball
Association: The Game Off The Court
The game of basketball was founded by Canadian physical education instructor James Naismith in
1891. It was a game that was first played in local YMCA that helped developed the game to what it
is today. The YMCA had a major role in spreading basketball thought the world. In 1893 basketball
was now played at the collegiate level. A few years later in 1898 the first professional league was
founded. The National Basketball League consisted of six teams, but was later abandoned in 1904.
The game continued to be played in YMCA and colleges around the world. Basketball was known
as an international sport and in 1932 FIBA (International Basketball Federation) was formed. Fifty–
five years later after the game we all grew to

The Basketball Association And The Nba
The National Basketball Association, or the NBA, is a men's professional basketball league in the
USA. The National Basketball Association was born in 1949 after the Basketball Association of
America and the National Basketball League merged as one. Maurice Podoloff was elected head of
the new league that consisted of seventeen teams which came from cities and towns all across the
country. The NBA did not have a great start with its teams dwindling to only eight teams in the
1950s. At this point, the league transformed the game with the addition of the shot clock. The shot
clock in the NBA is 24 seconds, meaning the offensive team has 24 seconds from the time they
inbound the ball until the ball hits the rim on their side of the court. This addition increased the pace
of the game and made it more fun for fans to watch. Their transformation worked, and the league
returned to a financially stable one in the 1960/70s. Today, the NBA has millions of fans from all
walks of life, all over the world. The league now consists of 30 teams from various states in North
America as well as one team from Canada. The teams are divided into two conferences and then
three divisions of five teams each. To play the sport of basketball there are players; five on the court
at a time, coaches, a basketball, two hoops, high–top shoes to protect player's ankles, and a court
with specific lines painted out to represent boundaries.
As a league, the NBA makes roughly 5.18 billion dollars

Wataru Misak Racial Discrimination In The NBA
In 1947, the first Japanese basketball player, Wataru Misaka, was drafted into the NBA (National
Basketball Association) and played a total of seven games before being cut for unknown reasons.
There have been many speculations as to why Misaka was cut, such as racial tensions between
Japanese and Americans or the recent end to internment camps but I believe there is an underlying
issue as to why he was cut, racism in the NBA. Even more worrying, nowadays Asian basketball
players such as Jeremy Lin are being discriminated because of his race. In a viral video that was
recently uploaded onto YouTube in April, "Too Flagrant not to Call", it showed Jeremy Lin being
aggressively attacked and often hurt while no flagrant fouls (which is an over aggressive ... Show

Back in 2015, He Tianju, a popular basketball player in China, most notably known for his ability to
score three–pointers, moved to America at an attempt to join the NBA. When Tianju started playing
in the NBA summer league, where teams can practice with other organizations and try out new
players, Tianju did very well in many of his games even scoring nine points in the time he played
(Martin). Although Tianju played well and New Orleans head coach Alvin Gentry even commended
him on his ability to shoot, he was not drafted into the NBA for the 2015–16 year. Similarly, Hassan
Whiteside, a black NBA player, was drafted from the D–League and even though he played poorly
in the NBA prior to being sent to the D–League, averaging 1.6 points per game, he became
successful in the NBA. Even though Hassan Whiteside was a poor performer before being sent to
the D–League, he was given a second chance and bloomed in the NBA while Tianju, an Asian
player who played well during his short time in the Summer League did not receive the same offers
as Whiteside which makes people question the NBA's view of Asian players. Tianju, like many
other potential NBA players, such as Xue YuYang were not given ample opportunity to join the
Association because of their Asian race which seems actually be the biggest barrier between
international fame and a one–time Summer League

Shoot A Basketball Research Paper
Have you ever wondered how to make make a perfect 3 pointer. Well you if you want, you must let
go of the ball at 33 degrees to the hoop.According to research if you can release the ball at 33
degrees it has a very high chance of going in.But if is not released at the perfect 33 degrees the ball
probably not go in.When you shoot a basketball you need to understand that there is different factors
that are included like potential kinetic energy,The angles, and how much force the person apply
these are very important when shooting a basketball.
When you shoot a basketball it has many different elements, then just throwing the ball. When you
shoot a basketball it involves some different elements such as potential energy, kinetic energy, and
gravity. First, potential energy is when the energy of a body or a system with respect to the position
of the body or the arrangement. Then there is kinetic energy which is the energy of body with
respect the motion of the body. Also ''Kinetic energy can be transferred between objects and
transformed into other kinds of energy.'' (Khan Academy). Then finally there is gravity, which is the
force by which a planet or other body draws objects toward its center so if there was no gravity
when you would shoot a basketball it would just start floating and would not go towards the hoop. ...

The History of Television and the NBA
The National Basketball Association, or NBA has grown up over the last few decades. Once on the
verge of collapse, and unwanted by television, the NBA has rebounded to become quite possibly the
most popular league in the nation. It was through television that the league finally established itself
as a worthy opponent to Major League Baseball and the National Football League. The NBA got its
first television exposure during the 1953–54 season on the long–since folded DuMont network. At
that time, baseball was still the national pastime, and pro football was beginning to take the spotlight
as the favorite sport. Even college basketball was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The savior for the NBA emerged in the form of Danny Biasone, who instituted the 24–second shot
clock that most agree, saved the league. The 1954–55 seasons was the first played with the shot
clock, and the results were a more wide open style of play far more attractive to television viewers.
The NBA has been selected for this study to determine how television coverage changed mass
media coverage of basketball and the way the viewers perceived the game.
Perhaps no sport was more influenced by the advent of television than professional basketball. From
the earliest days of television, NBA officials realized the power of the medium and they realized that
any chances they had for success were directly linked to their survival on television. Players and
coaches alike were concerned with the way their game was presented on television, even during the
league 's first decade on television. This made it clear that everyone in the NBA knew that league
success was directly related to television. NBA officials also knew that in order to appeal to viewers,
they would have to implement rules that would make the NBA product more viewer–friendly. In the
early 1950s, the NBA suffered from the perception that it was a slow–paced game. This was due to
the fact that in those days, if a team had the lead into the fourth quarter, it would "freeze the ball"
and turn the game into a tedious foul–shooting exhibition. This style of play threatened the NBA 's
survival

High School Basketball
Many people think Division One College basketball and high school basketball are the same, but do
people understand the differences? In the same way they use a basketball, wear uniforms, have a
student section, and have the same number of players on the court. Division One College basketball
teams, such as, Villanova, Duke, or North Carolina, offer a more professional level type of
basketball game for fans to watch. However, this would require fans to travel around to different
states. On the other hand, high schools such as Archbishop Ryan or Father Judge, provide a more
local game to make traveling less for people. Division One College basketball and high school
basketball both provide a fun environment; however, they differ in capacity, rules, and arena. Out of
both topics, Division One College basketball is more known since it is aired worldwide on television

What's The Biggest Problem In The NBA?
In the NBA they are a lot of little issues, however people like to look at the resting issue which
indeed is a problem but not the biggest problem in today's NBA. The biggest problem is the
conference unbalance (which means one conference is more elite than the other) which is true in
many aspects. Let me explain why, the western conference is more powerful than the eastern
conference and I believe the solution is too make the NBA more even is too make it where you can
have more than 2 All–Stars per team unless you have developed the players to become All–Stars
from the beginning of their career. I believe this method would make teams more even because

Basketball Essay
Since its conception in 1891, the sport of basketball has always been a catalyst for excitement that
never ceases to amuse its viewers. It not only excites those participating in the sport, but also
manages to innervate those who watch from the comfort of their couch. This surge in energy
continues to persuade even the most indolent individuals to join in a friendly game of basketball
every once in awhile. Basketball has long been praised as an elegant sport because of its focus on
accuracy, precision, and teamwork. Qualities such as these are the main reason that basketball is

The sport became so popular that the National Basketball Association (NBA) was created in order to
supply the nation with a televised center of professional basketball. A mere 8 teams were expected,
and almost obligated, to entertain a nation of excitement–craving sports fans. The creators of the
NBA saw that this would become a debilitating problem and over the next 30 years nearly tripled to
22 teams stationed throughout the country. Along with this increase in professional teams, the
founders of the NBA wanted to create a new league to increase the NBA's variety. This led to the
American Basketball Association (ABA) being created and providing even more fierce competition
between superstar caliber talent. The ABA quickly gained popularity due to the players who rebelled
against the idea of basketball fundamentals and instead opted to perform flashy moves that
bedazzled the audience. In 1976, the NBA and the ABA combined to for the NBA that we all know
and recognize today. This was a direct result of integration in major sports and was done as a
marketing technique that would help gain the less bigoted fans. From then on, the NBA continued to
dominate the sports world and has made many of its players into household names. This has quickly
allowed basketball to become America's favorite pastime with over 48% of adults admitting that
basketball was there favorite sport.

Best NBA Teams
NBA arenas have statically been found to have an overwhelmingly humongous effect on the
outcome of games than folks have actually had the keenness to observe. When over 20,000 fans
converse with players on a court, the tone in which they speak to or at a player may determine the
fluctuations of a team's chemistry, grit and composure. A formidable opponent maybe booed out of
his composure and make simultaneous wrong moves while a timid player maybe cheered into
making very daring and creative moves while playing in his home court. Some of the best home–
court advantages this season are a combination of amusing and charismatic teams teaming up with
their rowdy and overwhelmingly passionate fans to intimidate their on–road opponents. Here are a
few examples: 1. Bolton Celtics, TD Boston Gardens Boston fans are said to be fanatics and

In the 1970s the NBA was a parity it had all players to be treated equally. The 70s had a mixture of
great players that were striving to be one of the best and they did accomplish that by becoming great
in their respected teams. All decades past and present have their teams. The 1950s had the
Minneapolis Lakers dominating most of that decade. The 1960s had been dominated by the Boston
Celtics led by the great Bill Russell winning eleven championships with the Celtics. The 80s was
dominated by two dynasties the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics with the Lakers coming

immense promise, which significantly changed the game of basketball from different aspects
towards the college players, major league, and internationally. In December of 1891, James
Naismith, a physical education instructor, introduced his gymnastics class at the YMCA in
Springfield, Massachusetts his uncharted invention composed of nailed peach baskets at both ends
of the gym and a soccer ball (NBA Hoops Online). As Naismith explains, the background behind it
was: "It was developed to meet a need. Those boys simply would not play 'Drop the Handkerchief."
Indeed, due to his act, it met one ends need not by accident but as an aspiration. Furthermore,
Naismith had generated a list of 13 rules which would administer this unique game (Basketball For

BASKETBALL
The American sport of basketball has come a long way since it was invented by
James Naismith in 1891. Originally, the game was played with a soccer ball and peach
baskets instead of a backboard and rim. There were no holes in the baskets and a ladder
was used to retrieve the ball if it did stay in the basket. There were about fifty
players on opposing teams and players who committed fouls were sent to a hockey–like
penalty box. Today the game has changed tremendously and basketball has become one
of the top three sports in North America. The game of basketball has been considerably polished. It

He retired in 1999, it made the headlines in even the Japanese newspapers.
Even though he was a superstar of the game he did not do it by himself. In order to play

Players in an offensive mode, with the ball, can use tactics and forms of physics which can bring the
defence off there feet, to enable an easy path to the basket. This scenario is called breaking the
defenders ankles. Breaking the defenders ankles is a term which relates to the defender being
subjected to a large sum of momentum causing an instability in their ankles, consequently giving
way. A players momentum can be calc8lated through the use of their mass and final velocity as
followed; p=mv, p being the magnitude of the players momentum, m being the players mass, and v
being the velocity at which the object or player is travelling. Due to the velocity and momentum
being vector, the direction of each determine the final outcome. As the offensive player travels in a
particular direction at a velocity, the defender would naturally defend by moving and following in
front, guarding the offensive player. As the offensive player has a mass and a directional velocity,
the offensive player can switch direction abruptly, causing the defenders momentum to continue in
there initial same direction. The basic forms of physcis, such as momentum, can significantly
determine an succesful or unsuccefeul defencive or offencive play. Therefore minimizining the risk
of the metioned senarios, ankle bracing can be worn to increase the stubility of the defender in

Shot Arc Research Paper
When someone is shooting a basketball an important thing that is mostly overlooked is their shot
arc. This may only seem like a minor detail from your shot but its impact is overwhelming. If you
are looking to get an outstanding jump shot one thing you need to have is a consistent shot arc in the
mid 40's. A 45 degree shot arc is said to be optimal because 30 degrees is too flat of a shot and it
leaves barely enough room for the ball to enter the hoop and a 50 degree shot arc is just too high and
it makes getting the shot up much harder than necessary. A 45 degree shot arc being optimal is
backed up by one of the greatest shooters ever Stephen Curry. Curry has an average shot arc of 46
degrees and has a steeper launch angle that gives him a

College basketball markets their teams after their best players, when those players decide to go pro
early, the promotion of college basketball is hurt; along with the overall talent level of the league is
lowered drastically. Games become less interesting because the players are not as talented. This in
turn hurts the television networks because people do not like watching games in which they do not
know who the players are.
And then, that in turn hurts the league and the schools again because the networks will not pay as
much to televise the games as they once did.
The schools and the league are not the only ones hurt, by leaving school early hoping to make the
big bucks the players hurt themselves. In the world that we live in today, if you do not have a
college degree, opportunities are limited. Look at the statistics, 60 players are drafted each year, and
there are only 360 roster spots in the entire NBA. The chances that each player drafted will make the
team is almost an impossibility. Some people go back to school and try to finish their degrees, but
most do not because once you give up your eligibility, you cannot get it back, with means most of
them cannot afford to go back to school. This leaves a lot of people out of work and with no degree.

Annotated Bibliography : Women 's Equality
Jessica Boldman ENGL 1102–07 16 September 2015 Women's Equality in Sports: Annotated
Bibliography Women's equality is an issue that has been around for awhile. While women have been
given many rights to increase equality, including the right to vote and go to college, the problem
hasn't completely vanished. One area that still sees this is in sports. Women's sports do not draw
nearly as many fans and are not covered in the media as much as men's sports, pay differences
between male and female athletes are large, and female athletes have to wait longer to start their
professional career than men, which risks their professional career before it even starts. In today's
world, men's sports seem to always be in the spotlight while women's sports do not draw much
attention, as if women who play sports are not taken seriously. This happens on all levels of sports,
and I have personally experienced it myself through basketball in high school. While the gym would
be full for any of the boys' games, our games had very little support with almost empty bleachers.
When it comes to the professional level, when women's sports do get covered by the media, most
people judge female athletes more on their looks rather than their athletic skill, which is negative
and unfair. Duru, N. Jeremi. "Hoop Dreams Deferred: The WNBA, The NBA, And The Long–

The Hardest Sport Of Basketball

  • 1. The Hardest Sport Of Basketball Basketball is one of the most talked about topics, as well as one of the most played games. Compared to other sports like American football and baseball, basketball is known around the world for the unique play style and rules of the game. It is a sport many people love to play, but people can take it too seriously which makes competition very stiff. In this decade, basketball is one of the hardest sport to be successful in, not because of the rules and playstyles; but the competition and how many people want to play. In an actual basketball game it would be five on five on the court. In total one team could probably only take around ten to thirteen people. In other sports like soccer, would have eleven players on the field or sports format in total, each team could have about twenty five to thirty people on one team, football could have up to fifty people on one team. This shows why basketball is the hardest sport to play in todays' world; because when people want to make it as a profession, not a lot can be chosen. Even when some make it to the pros, not everybody on the team even gets to play in the game; sometimes people would be allowed to play for a small portion of time. However it is something that still motivates people to play the sport of basketball, it helps them make a better name for themselves so that they would have a bright future. Basketball overall changed from the eighties and nineties to now; because of unfairness in competition, helping kids stay out of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. National Basketbal Math Basketball is a game that uses many different types of math. Basketball is played on a rectangular court and made up of two five player teams. Two guards, two forwards, and one center make up the five players on each team. All five players play offense as well as defense. In Professional Basketball a game lasts for 48 minutes which is broken up into four quarters. 48 divided by 4 = 12, therefore each quarter lasts 12 minutes. Whichever team has the most points at the end of the game is the winner. When a game is tied after the rule time has ended, the teams play overtime periods until one team ends an overtime period with more points and is therefore the winner. There are two ways an offensive team can score points. The first way to score is to make a basket, which is worth 2 or 3 points, depending on the distance of the shot. The second way to score is a foul shot, also called a free throw. Every foul shot is taken from what is called the "free throw" line. The free throw line is 15 feet away from the basket which is also equal to 4.6 meters. The free throw is worth one point. The National ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For players, statistics can be used to determine individual strengths and weaknesses. For viewers, statistics is used to determine the value of players and analyze the performance of an individual or the entire team. Percentages are a common way of comparing players' performances. It is used to get values like the rebound amount, which is the percentage of missed shots a player rebounds while on the court. Statistics is also used to rank a player based on the number of shots, steals and assists made during a game. Averages are used to get values like the points per game average, and ratios are used to get values like the turnover to assist ratio. Change In The Newhalen School CHANGE I'm not going to bore you with facts you probably won't recollect and I'm not going to act as if I am supercilious to this issue, but I am one for a change. Everything is going to change eventually, the court outside of the Newhalen School needs to change. The court is getting superannuated and precarious, the basketball rim and backboard is getting rusty and worn down by the years of snow, wind, and rain. We need a safe environment for our future generation. This court right now is intact, but imagine it years from now. It would collapse. The rim looks like it's about to break off every time I go to shoot around there, and people should fear of that happening. If the rim did fall it would induce serious damage to the victim of that happening. The court currently is disintegrating and the nails that are holding the boards together are ... • 7. The National NBAAssociation: The Evolution Of The... The National Basketball Association (NBA) is an ever–changing league, and teams change their style of play and strategy to win games frequently. Furthermore, the introduction of the three–point field goal after the NBA and ABA merger started a revolution in basketball strategy. A trend began where teams began to attempt more threes every year. However, most NBA team's styles to win games did not center on shooting three pointers. During the 1980s and 1990s, team strategy revolved around centers (a position in basketball that is usually the tallest man on the team) and isolation play, and this style of play peaked by the mid 2000s. The pace of play became very slow and the game was inefficient. Over the last ten years, more teams began ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Information On Future Educational Goals And / Provide information on future educational goals and/or objectives and their relationships to pursuing graduate work at Concordia University Chicago. This essay is an essential part of the admission process. If you are applying as a guest, please indicate which courses or subject area you are interested in. When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up by mother, I always quickly responded by saying something that I thought would please her like a doctor or firefighter. Secretly, I did not want to do any of those things, although they both are respected and prestigious career choices. I, however, dreamed of playing in the National basketball Association (NBA) and traveling the world as a professional basketball player. I did not posses the courage to tell my mother because she wanted my twin brother and I to be accomplished educators or doctors, but even at the age of six, I told myself if I put my mind to it, I could do anything. Making my dream a reality was not easy and there have been many twists and turns. I have had a passion to play basketball since I was six years old. Surprisingly, I did not participate in any youth basketball leagues growing up. My mother like all mothers was protective and cared more about my academics, so my twin brother and I were reduced to playing in the front yard with other children in the neighborhood. With the help of friends and hours of practice, I was able to make the team my 7th and 8th grade year. Unfortunately, my mother ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Dr. Naismith: The Sport Of Basketball The game of basketball has an interesting origin. Dr.Naismith , an instructor in a college in America was thinking of a game that could be played indoors during winter months. He hit upon the novel idea of playing a game with the ball and two baskets nailed to the opposite walls of a gymnasium. In order to score a goal, a team had to throw the ball into the basket of the rival team. Initially, whenever a goal was scored, the ball had to be retieved by climbing on the baskets. In the beginning, the number of players in the team also happened to be unwidely. With the passage of time, the game became highly popular and specific rules were laided down. These rules have since undergone many changes. Basketball today is a high–speed ball game and it is one of the highly popular games in America. Previously, the NBA surpassed the MLB in becoming the second most popular sport and surprisingly, catching up to the NFL."12 years in and the one and done's have shaped the face of college basketball." (Griffin)It started in 2006 when the NBA passed a rule saying players out of high school had to be one year removed from high school in order to enter the draft and since then players have done a lot of different things. The most obvious and common option is to spend a year in college which "This typically forces otherwise–unwilling participants to go to college for one year."(Jayarajah)The other options are to play overseas, take a year off working on your game or something that a top Syracuse commit has just done very recently that has caused a lot of drama. Some of these guys are people that needed the NBA to provide for them and their families, and "Unlike football, where not being physically ready can be a safety issue, young players like Kevin Garnett, Amare' Stoudemire and Kobe Bryant have proven some high school players are ready. On January, 5th 2016 the newest game out in stores had just came out. I am determined to get it no matter what I have to do. I had asked my mom if she would take me to go get the game, and she said she would. We got to the store, and we looked at the price. Oh my goodness this game was a ninety dollar game. My mom strongly told me that if she bought this game then I would be doing chores for a month straight. Chores weren 't so bad so I took the chance in the game, and did my chores. It was the bench with all other white jerseys in a huddle. I ran over to the huddle, and seen many of the NBA rookies like D 'angelo Russell, Karl Anthony Towns, and Jahlil Okafor. I gathered in the huddle, and our coach was speaking about our game plan. I was so confused on where I was still. Until D 'angelo Russell announced, "welcome to my career!" • 19. National Basketball Association : The Lockout Essay National Basketball Association: The Lockout Jestina N Shand Webster University Abstract (150 words) This paper explores the history of the relationship of National Basketball Association and National Basketball Players Association. It's really the behind the scenes acts of the players and owners that dictate what we watch on television. This behind the scenes activity is the act of collective bargaining, which has existed since the begging. Collective bargaining in sports is the process by which owners in the professional sports leagues negotiate with the players in their league on every issue that affects the sport. In this paper we are going to focus on the NBA (NATIONAL Basketball Association) National Basketball Association: The Game Off The Court The game of basketball was founded by Canadian physical education instructor James Naismith in 1891. It was a game that was first played in local YMCA that helped developed the game to what it is today. The YMCA had a major role in spreading basketball thought the world. In 1893 basketball was now played at the collegiate level. A few years later in 1898 the first professional league was founded. The National Basketball League consisted of six teams, but was later abandoned in 1904. The game continued to be played in YMCA and colleges around the world. Basketball was known as an international sport and in 1932 FIBA (International Basketball Federation) was formed. Fifty– five years later after the game we all grew to ... • 21. The Basketball Association And The Nba The National Basketball Association, or the NBA, is a men's professional basketball league in the USA. The National Basketball Association was born in 1949 after the Basketball Association of America and the National Basketball League merged as one. Maurice Podoloff was elected head of the new league that consisted of seventeen teams which came from cities and towns all across the country. The NBA did not have a great start with its teams dwindling to only eight teams in the 1950s. At this point, the league transformed the game with the addition of the shot clock. The shot clock in the NBA is 24 seconds, meaning the offensive team has 24 seconds from the time they inbound the ball until the ball hits the rim on their side of the court. This addition increased the pace of the game and made it more fun for fans to watch. Their transformation worked, and the league returned to a financially stable one in the 1960/70s. Today, the NBA has millions of fans from all walks of life, all over the world. The league now consists of 30 teams from various states in North America as well as one team from Canada. The teams are divided into two conferences and then three divisions of five teams each. To play the sport of basketball there are players; five on the court at a time, coaches, a basketball, two hoops, high–top shoes to protect player's ankles, and a court with specific lines painted out to represent boundaries. As a league, the NBA makes roughly 5.18 billion dollars ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Wataru Misak Racial Discrimination In The NBA In 1947, the first Japanese basketball player, Wataru Misaka, was drafted into the NBA (National Basketball Association) and played a total of seven games before being cut for unknown reasons. There have been many speculations as to why Misaka was cut, such as racial tensions between Japanese and Americans or the recent end to internment camps but I believe there is an underlying issue as to why he was cut, racism in the NBA. Even more worrying, nowadays Asian basketball players such as Jeremy Lin are being discriminated because of his race. In a viral video that was recently uploaded onto YouTube in April, "Too Flagrant not to Call", it showed Jeremy Lin being aggressively attacked and often hurt while no flagrant fouls (which is an over aggressive ... Back in 2015, He Tianju, a popular basketball player in China, most notably known for his ability to score three–pointers, moved to America at an attempt to join the NBA. When Tianju started playing in the NBA summer league, where teams can practice with other organizations and try out new players, Tianju did very well in many of his games even scoring nine points in the time he played (Martin). Although Tianju played well and New Orleans head coach Alvin Gentry even commended him on his ability to shoot, he was not drafted into the NBA for the 2015–16 year. Similarly, Hassan Whiteside, a black NBA player, was drafted from the D–League and even though he played poorly in the NBA prior to being sent to the D–League, averaging 1.6 points per game, he became successful in the NBA. Even though Hassan Whiteside was a poor performer before being sent to the D–League, he was given a second chance and bloomed in the NBA while Tianju, an Asian player who played well during his short time in the Summer League did not receive the same offers as Whiteside which makes people question the NBA's view of Asian players. Tianju, like many other potential NBA players, such as Xue YuYang were not given ample opportunity to join the Association because of their Asian race which seems actually be the biggest barrier between international fame and a one–time Summer League ... • 27. History Of Television And The Nba Zachary Scanlon Jerry Chandler 20 November 2015 COMM 201 The History of Television and the NBA The National Basketball Association, or NBA has grown up over the last few decades. Once on the verge of collapse, and unwanted by television, the NBA has rebounded to become quite possibly the most popular league in the nation. It was through television that the league finally established itself as a worthy opponent to Major League Baseball and the National Football League. The NBA got its first television exposure during the 1953–54 season on the long–since folded DuMont network. At that time, baseball was still the national pastime, and pro football was beginning to take the spotlight as the favorite sport. Even college basketball was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The savior for the NBA emerged in the form of Danny Biasone, who instituted the 24–second shot clock that most agree, saved the league. The 1954–55 seasons was the first played with the shot clock, and the results were a more wide open style of play far more attractive to television viewers. The NBA has been selected for this study to determine how television coverage changed mass media coverage of basketball and the way the viewers perceived the game. Perhaps no sport was more influenced by the advent of television than professional basketball. From the earliest days of television, NBA officials realized the power of the medium and they realized that any chances they had for success were directly linked to their survival on television. Players and coaches alike were concerned with the way their game was presented on television, even during the league 's first decade on television. This made it clear that everyone in the NBA knew that league success was directly related to television. NBA officials also knew that in order to appeal to viewers, they would have to implement rules that would make the NBA product more viewer–friendly. In the early 1950s, the NBA suffered from the perception that it was a slow–paced game. This was due to the fact that in those days, if a team had the lead into the fourth quarter, it would "freeze the ball" and turn the game into a tedious foul–shooting exhibition. This style of play threatened the NBA 's survival ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A players momentum can be calc8lated through the use of their mass and final velocity as followed; p=mv, p being the magnitude of the players momentum, m being the players mass, and v being the velocity at which the object or player is travelling. • 68. Essay on Basketball Needs To Be Fixed Basketball Needs to Be Fixed Professional and college basketball have become very popular in the hearts and minds of many Americans. Millions of dollars a year are spent on apparel, tickets, and television all generated by people's love for basketball. But in the last couple of years, both the National Basketball Association (NBA) and college basketball have lost a substantial amount of their competition and have caught much criticizim for it. At the heart of this problem is a single cause, greed. The game of basketball has become all about money instead of the game and its fans. This problem needs to be addressed, and the best place to start is with the college players, or more specifically, the NBA draft. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... College basketball markets their teams after their best players, when those players decide to go pro early, the promotion of college basketball is hurt; along with the overall talent level of the league is lowered drastically. Games become less interesting because the players are not as talented. This in turn hurts the television networks because people do not like watching games in which they do not know who the players are. And then, that in turn hurts the league and the schools again because the networks will not pay as much to televise the games as they once did. The schools and the league are not the only ones hurt, by leaving school early hoping to make the big bucks the players hurt themselves. In the world that we live in today, if you do not have a college degree, opportunities are limited. Look at the statistics, 60 players are drafted each year, and there are only 360 roster spots in the entire NBA. The chances that each player drafted will make the team is almost an impossibility. Some people go back to school and try to finish their degrees, but most do not because once you give up your eligibility, you cannot get it back, with means most of them cannot afford to go back to school. This leaves a lot of people out of work and with no degree. By keeping the college players in school, most will achieve ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Annotated Bibliography : Women 's Equality Jessica Boldman ENGL 1102–07 16 September 2015 Women's Equality in Sports: Annotated Bibliography Women's equality is an issue that has been around for awhile. While women have been given many rights to increase equality, including the right to vote and go to college, the problem hasn't completely vanished. One area that still sees this is in sports. Women's sports do not draw nearly as many fans and are not covered in the media as much as men's sports, pay differences between male and female athletes are large, and female athletes have to wait longer to start their professional career than men, which risks their professional career before it even starts. In today's world, men's sports seem to always be in the spotlight while women's sports do not draw much attention, as if women who play sports are not taken seriously. This happens on all levels of sports, and I have personally experienced it myself through basketball in high school. While the gym would be full for any of the boys' games, our games had very little support with almost empty bleachers. When it comes to the professional level, when women's sports do get covered by the media, most people judge female athletes more on their looks rather than their athletic skill, which is negative and unfair. • 76. It Like Art Vandelay Case Analysis The idea of expanding the NBA league internationally had long been in the plans of the former commissioner David Stern. As mentioned in the reading "Its like Art Vandelay", David Stern understood the "need for new revenue streams... and calculated that the NBA needed to go global to find new markets and revenue streams outside of the US." (Ballouli, Khalid 2014, pg. 99) Currently, Stern's vision of seeing the NBA market expand internationally has become a reality. The NBA has now expanded into China, South Africa, Spain, Mexico, India, South Asia, England, Turkey, Taiwan, Canada, and very recently opened an office in Brazil. This expansion has brought high revenues to the NBA business and has allowed their product to become more attractive to worldwide fans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This desire has grown so strong within young American athletes that some choose to play for international leagues instead of playing and attending a University. Emmanuel Mudiay represents one of the many athletes who have made that exact decision. Emmanuel Mudiay, an outstanding number 2 High School point guard recruit, made the final decision in July 2014 to play one year for China and get paid $1.2 million. Before he decided to get paid and play for China, Mudiay had committed to play for Southern Methodist University. Making this decision offers athletes such as Mudiay, the opportunity to focus on improving their basketball skills against other highly skilled foreign athletes. However, it has been noted that many players, who commit to playing in foreign countries, do not "stick because the culture change is so dramatic." (Hellin, Kurt). Nevertheless, athletes still choose to get paid and play for foreign leagues. These decisions have brought more concerns as commissioner Adam Silver makes it a priority to increase the NBA age limit from 19 to 20 years ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
