A Reservoir Stimulation Technology for

Addressing 3 Major
Challenges of Industry
1. Traditional EOR leaves 45% to 65% of reserves unrecovered.
PPT increases oil recoveryfactor through low frequency shock waves and acoustic cavitation to enhance the
reservoir permeability and excite the hydrocarbons.
2. Initial well completion creates considerable formation damage leaving high skin “S” factors that
reduce permeability.
PPT’s high frequency shock waves disintegrate most formation damage that is clogging the near wellbore
permeability, allowing the reservoir to flow. There is no damage to the wellbore or formation.
3. Traditional EOR is expensive, risky, disruptive, and ecologically destructive.
PPT treatments are a fraction of the cost of alternatives, highly successful, minimally disruptive to operations
and environmentally friendly.
• Hydrocarbon recoveryis dictated by permeability
• There are severalmethods to enhance
permeability including:
• Hydraulic fracturing
• Re-perforation of the well bore
• Reactant treatment of wells with acid
• All of these methods result in damage to the formation
• Less than 50% of frac fluid injected is recovered
• PPT is a superior solution to address these problems because it is environmentally friendly and
doesn’t cause any damage to well infrastructure or reservoir
Existing Attempts to
Address Challenge
1. PPT tool is conveyed by e-wireline, tractor or e-coil tubing
2. Compression waves disintegrate obstructive material in the perforation area and near wellbore skin
into particles restoring the ability for the reservoir to flow undeterred
3. Compression waves then propagate deep into the reservoir up to 1500m
4. The creation of a network of microfractures resulting in improved permeability occurs
5. Lower viscosity is also created
6. The integrity of the casing/cement is left intact
7. Increases the IP rate and the recoveryfactor of the reservoir
8. The effect of the treatment generally lasts 12 months or longer before requiring another treatment

OIP, production interval parameters and geological characteristics of the deposit

• The application of PPT for the treatment of wells characterized by a reduction in production rates after
hydraulic fracturing helps prolong the life cycle of the well
• Increases the type curve substantially which drives better well economics
• Very cost effective compared to other well stimulation techniques

Increasing the Type Curve
• Well came on at 200 bopd declined to 40 bopd in 2 years – the decline curve predicted
another 7,300 barrels of oil to be produced over four years
• After the PPT treatment, the well jumped to 125 bopd and climbed for a year up to 145
bopd before slowly declining to 60 bopd over the next 4 years (=177,025 incremental
barrels of oil and still going strong)

  • 1. A Reservoir Stimulation Technology for Enhanced Hydrocarbon Recovery Plasma Pulse Technology (PPT)
  • 2. Addressing 3 Major Challenges of Industry 1. Traditional EOR leaves 45% to 65% of reserves unrecovered. PPT increases oil recoveryfactor through low frequency shock waves and acoustic cavitation to enhance the reservoir permeability and excite the hydrocarbons. 2. Initial well completion creates considerable formation damage leaving high skin “S” factors that reduce permeability. PPT’s high frequency shock waves disintegrate most formation damage that is clogging the near wellbore permeability, allowing the reservoir to flow. There is no damage to the wellbore or formation. 3. Traditional EOR is expensive, risky, disruptive, and ecologically destructive. PPT treatments are a fraction of the cost of alternatives, highly successful, minimally disruptive to operations and environmentally friendly.
  • 3. • Hydrocarbon recoveryis dictated by permeability • There are severalmethods to enhance permeability including: • Hydraulic fracturing • Re-perforation of the well bore • Reactant treatment of wells with acid • All of these methods result in damage to the formation • Less than 50% of frac fluid injected is recovered • PPT is a superior solution to address these problems because it is environmentally friendly and doesn’t cause any damage to well infrastructure or reservoir Existing Attempts to Address Challenge
  • 4. 1. PPT tool is conveyed by e-wireline, tractor or e-coil tubing 2. Compression waves disintegrate obstructive material in the perforation area and near wellbore skin into particles restoring the ability for the reservoir to flow undeterred 3. Compression waves then propagate deep into the reservoir up to 1500m 4. The creation of a network of microfractures resulting in improved permeability occurs 5. Lower viscosity is also created 6. The integrity of the casing/cement is left intact 7. Increases the IP rate and the recoveryfactor of the reservoir 8.   • 11. • Well came on at 200 bopd declined to 40 bopd in 2 years – the decline curve predicted another 7,300 barrels of oil to be produced over four years • After the PPT treatment, the well jumped to 125 bopd and climbed for a year up to 145 bopd before slowly declining to 60 bopd over the next 4 years (=177,025 incremental barrels of oil and still going strong) Decline Curve of PPT treatment from November 2007 to August 2014 PPT Effect
