Personal Development
● I taught this course, along with English, at my last long term sub
job.
● Career Development was one of our units.
● Students really liked lts unit because they got to learn things that
would help them in the real world
Project: My Personal Brand
Three Major Creative Outcomes:
1. Develop a personal brand for business
1. Website, Facebook or LinkedIn to promote YOU!
1. 15 Second Elevator Pitch
Project Goals
● Help students figure out their strengths and passions
● Students will have a profession social media site to
market themselves
● Students will be able to state in 15 seconds who they
are (brand) why someone should hire them
Prep for Project
● First we will have a class lesson and discussion about branding in general
including, but not limited to, the use of these tools:
● Slogan quiz to demonstrate the power of a strong brand

skills
● Work in small groups with those who know you and share perceptions about
each other
● If you have a quality that needs to improve, write it down and think about what
you can do to change it
● Document you six strongest qualities and begin to internalize them as your
personal brand
● You will use your personal brand on your social media site and your 15 second
elevator pitch

career.
● Suggestions: Your own website (google), Facebook, LinkedIn
● Add professional photos, and your personal branding
● You can add resume items like previous job experience or any special
experience if you have it
● Otherwise list your goals
● Do not worry if you don’t have a lot of content. You are young, this is a
building block for your branding and career.
