Advertising is an over 100 billion dollar a year industry and affects all of us throughout our lives. We are each exposed to over 2,000 ads a day,

The future is tough to predict. Parable of the Sower is a very well–written science fiction novel by Octavia Butler. The setting is California in the year
2025. The world is not prosperous anymore and has turned into a poverty stricken place. There are countless homeless people, jobs are scarce, and
there are very few communities of homes. The few communities that are still occupied have huge walls with barbed wire and laser wire
surrounding them. There are robberies, murders, and rapes just about every day. People walk the streets naked and bloody because their clothes
were stolen or they could never find any. Some people live in the hills like animals. They kill anything that comes along, human or not, for food
and to protect their territory. Some of these people are drug addicts who create fires for their own satisfaction. Everyone who has a chance to live
must carry a gun so no one can harm or try to do anything to them. In this society the police do not help because you have to pay them to come to the
scene of a crime. Most people cannot afford to pay their fees so they handle whatever they can on their own. The protagonist of this story, Lauren,

It was a brilliant idea not to put me in front because my sense of direction is about as clear as a blind bats. I'm also not the type of person to bring to a
corn maze, I was scared each time a person jumped out or I heard a rustling in the distance. The air surrounding me was musty and smoky. There
was a strange, eerie feeling as we made our way out of the maze. In the distance we could see a large trampoline and no one wanted to pass up that

Photos of youthful, skinny ladies (and teens) are seen all over TV, magazines, social media sites and even kids toys like Barbie and Ken, dolls and
puppets. These pictures portray what the perfect women should look like in American Beauty Culture. Society today has ladies (and teens) being either
skinny and starving or stout and full. I know numerous women, I included, who think they are ugly in light of the width of their clothes. According to
Fatema Mernissi in "Size 6: The Western Women's Harem," she believes that the Americanfashion industry is controlled by men and is used as a way
to dictate "...what women should wear and how they should look" (278). This does not just apply to women and teenage girls; this can be seen with
