Unlocking Exploration: Self-Motivated Agents Thrive on Memory-Driven Curiosity
Q1
1. In what ways does your media project use, develop or challenge forms
and conventions of real media products ?
2. I have learnt a little from conventions and media products as I had to
research similar genre films that could influence the genre we chose
and what ideas we could and couldn’t use for our film. Our group
originally looked into horror films like saw and Texas Chainsaw, but our
ideas changed so we looked at films like Taken which is a thriller/horror
this influenced our film as our film was based on a girl being stalked.
3. Horror
• Dark
• Scary music
• Scary location- isolated areas
• Unknown characters
• POV shot from the villain
• Victim
• Insanity
4. • We created our film to use most of the horror conventions, for example we
decided to use dark effects to create a scary atmosphere. A way we could
improve this is to film at a later time so that it is darker at nigh so we didn’t
need to use any affects. Also we added creepy music to add tension and
spooky vibes. I think we achieved the aim of having a scary atmosphere
because we cut and moved the music so that the audience could tell that
something is going to happen. We filmed in an isolated area- the field; this
showed the audience that she was alone and vulnerable. Also we filmed a
POV shot from the villain to show what's happening and what he sees. In
most horror films there is a female victim; the horror conventions
influenced our decision on having a female victim to show vulnerability and
weakness; also it makes the audience feel sorry for her as well as intrigued
as she has no background story. I think that we have achieved our goal of
using horror conventions as we tried to involve the villains POV, a pan shot
to show her insanity. A way we could have improved was to film more of
the victims POV so it shows her concern.
