states that celebrities are willing to reveal their personal lives so that they can gain more followers.

Thackeray got the idea for his title from chapter twelve of John Bunyan's book titled Pilgrim's
Progress, published in 1678. In his book, Bunyan describes the journey of a boy, Christian, from the

our libraries hold majority of these works of literature. This is a book review of the book "War"
which is authored by Sebastian Junger and published by Hatchett Book Group in May of 2010.
Sebastian Junger was an "embedded" reporter with the 2nd Platoon, Battle Company of the 173rd
Airborne Brigade for Vanity Fair magazine, and was entirely dependent on the U.S. military for
food, shelter, security, and transportation.1
This book is the result of five trips taken to Korengal Valley in eastern Afghanistan that were taken
between June 2007 and June 2008. Junger states that he was never asked–directly or indirectly– to
alter his reporting in any way or to show the contents of his camera. Junger is an American citizen
and has recollections of the terrorist's attacks that took place on September 11, 2001. With this in
mind, it could be cause for some bias reporting that may be presented and talked about through this
book review.
This memoir was written for the main reason of Junger being interested in Americans in
Afghanistan. He was interested in what it was like to serve in a platoon of combat infantry in the

billion dollars. It was a decision that was monetarily advantageous because it was clear that with the
amount of users that made their way to Facebook a need to satisfy visual competition between

Examples Of Irony In The Convergence Of The Twain
In Thomas Hardy's poem, "The Convergence of the Twain", the speaker displays a peaceful and
nonviolent interpretation towards the tragedy of the sinking of the grand ship known as the Titanic.
By using immense amounts of irony, personification, and irony, Hardy is able to strengthen his
claim that sinking of the Titanic was destined to occur due to both vanity of humans and mother
nature. The first section of "The Convergence of the Twain" illustrates how humans are the cause of
the sinking of the ship. The section also describes how the ship is free from human vanity and how it
finally gets to be at peace. Instead of viewing this event as a tragedy, it is viewed in a positive way
with a more peaceful and tranquil ending. In lines 2 and 3, "Deep from human vanity, And the Pride
of Life that planned her, stilly couches she", it explains how as a result of the ship being at the ocean
floor, she is away from human corruption. Due to humans believing that they could create such a
ship that could defy the laws of nature, becoming unsinkable, they didn't take any precautions into

Cock–a–doodle–dooo! Is what the rooster said when I had first stepped inside of the poultry barn at
the Wisconsin Valley Fair. For as long as I can remember, I had always wanted to show something at
the fair, and my mind was set, after firmly debating about pigs, I would be showing chickens. It all
really started when I was about six or seven, when my family and I went to the fair. It didn't matter
that showing wasn't going on, I just wanted to see all of the animals. I was the most fascinated by
the pigs. The way they look, sleep, and eat. The whole ride home, I was talking about how much I
wanted to show pigs, but then, out of nowhere, my dad came in with the whole "we can't keep pigs,
we don't have a place for them."
Then I replied to him, "we have the barn, how come we can't put pigs in there."
Of course, he had an immediate counter answer, "the barn is; damp, somewhat moldy, and falling
down. We can't hold animals in there! Plus with pigs, they'll rub up on everything, and knock
everything over, and eat everything!"
"Well, I guess if we have chickens, and know how to take care of them, I guess I could show them at
the fair," I grumbled. Besides, I knew that eventually I was going to lose the fight, so why keep it
going when I could just show something at the fair like I've always wanted to.

In this 21st century where representation and visibility of all groups is valued, it is not surprising to
see photos or videos in the media promoting or even advertising "unique" lifestyle that just a few
decades ago would unearthed a feeling of disgust or repulsion. While on one hand some uses media
in a positive way, introducing us to new fresher ideas which would've been unthinkable before.
Suchlike families aside from the traditional nuclear family (e.g. single–parent household, lesbian
and gay couples, or eccentric families in general), people of colour taking bolder or positions of
leadership, or even simple individuals breaking the barrier of norms. On the other hand, there are
those who simply see the media as a lucrative business aimed to spread consumer commodification
and vain lifestyle. As I want to focus on the latter, I chose the top left picture of the Vanity Fair (VF)
March 2014 issue. This month's issue's cover is Jen Selter, fitness model and supposedly an
inspiration for many young girls to go to the gym. I can be put in the basket of haters but frankly,
I've never heard of her and seeing just the magazine with her on the cover, in that position wearing
that "dress" doesn't appeal to me. She's wearing a black "dress" that covers parts that should be, but
