A Journey Back Home At Home
A Journey Back Home There is no place like home. These are familiar words I often hear from people especially from those who are far away from
home. They move or migrate to a different place because of many reasons; it can be a new job, work abroad, or simply to find better opportunity.
Canada has been my home for the last 25 years. Living here gave me independence and the ability to improve myself. I'm lucky to be given the
chance to stay and live in this beautiful country. All my four children were born and raised here. Growing up, I want them to learn about their roots
and family heritage. I and my husband are both Filipinos. At home, they are already exposed to some of the values and traits of our culture. One
summer, we planned a vacation, and I thought what better way to learn, understand and embrace the Filipino culture? Go visit the country. All of us
were excited and looked forward to this memorable trip back home to my native land, Philippines. Philippines This country was discovered in 1543 by
Villalobos, a Spanish explorer. He then named the country in honor of King Philip of Spain, thus; the name Philippines. It is located in Southeast Asia.
It is an archipelago between the Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea. This country consists of 7,100 island; of which three of them are the largest.
1.Luzon – the largest and most populous island. This is the economic and political center of the nation. This is the National Capital Region in which

Personal Narrative: My Vacation To America
It all started in the beginning 2010. My mom had planned a vacation to the Philippines to see our relatives and go on adventures with them. I was
five at the time, and I had only ridden on a plane once, so I was very excited. By the time I knew it, It was September. Our bags were packed, and we
were on our way to the airport to go on a journey we would never forget. Then, I was flying.
I remember the long ride on the airplane. To go to the Philippines from America byplane, it takes almost 24 hours to travel. All I remember doing was
looking out the window, sleeping, eating the little packs of pretzels, nuts, and meals they served, and sleeping again. Around 18 hours into the flight,
we took a quick stop in Japan. I remember buying many snacks from being starved on the plane ride. Soon after, we were back on the plane. I knew we
would be there soon, so I couldn't sleep. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
sister, and I were finished saying our goodbyes to the family, we packed our bags and headed to our final destination: Boracay. We stayed for there for
three nights. Boracay is a beautiful island in the Philippines. This where we spent our final days in the Philippines. The place where we stayed was
full of sand, which I hated, so when I walked outside, it felt very strange. The pools around the area were beautiful, and since all the guests liked to
swim in the ocean, my family had it all to ourselves. The nighttime was full of extravagant surprises. There were fire jugglers, special performances,
and an abundance of complimentary food. I remember having to stay with my sister at our room, since we weren't old enough to go to the bars and
clubs, so every night we would watch Caspar The Friendly Ghost. Although, if I was on the beach, I loved staring at the beautiful ocean. It was filled
with sailboats, fish, and an array of colors. On the last day, I had gotten used to the sand surrounding my feet, and the burning sun shining. We then
finally drove to the airport, and flew back

Investors
Safety, peace and order are among the requisities for a country or a place to be attractive for investors, foreign and local. The proclamation of military
law in Mindanao will have an effect on the feeling of foreign financial specialists with respect to the Philippines, as indicated by the European Chamber
of Commerce of the Philippines, particularly on the off chance that it takes long to settle the 4 month–long conflict in Marawi City. (Cordero, 2017)
Vicente Lao, Chairman of Mindanao Business Council said on an interview that the ongoing conflict between the government forces and the Maute

Foreign and local tourism in Mindanao had already an impact to the tourism in Mindanao because of the foreign travel warnings and advisories
that were issued by countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada and United States of America. Domestic travel going to some places in
Mindanao were partially reduced. Carriers as of now have scratched off and lessened flights to flights in Mindanao. Travel and Tourism represents
20 percent of our Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Mindanao takes 5 percent or P150 billion of the P3 trillion commitment of Travel and Tourism.
The entire of Mindanao likewise represents 10 percent of our economy, with horticultural generation and fares of agri items taking noticeable quality.
This is a P1.4 trillion part to our yearly GDP which might be in danger if the war in Marawi is not contained and settled soon enough. (Almendras,
2017) In fact, the former chairman of the Mindanao Business Council (MBC), Joji Ilagan–Bian, admitted the fact that the war on Marawi City will
have an effect on business sector and tourism of Mindanao. (Cigaral, 2017) Davao will surely be affected as it is one of the places in the Philippines
which is promoted by the Department of Tourism. Amidst the ongoing conflict in Marawi, the Department of Tourism would double

Essay On Cruise Ship
CRUISE SHIP
A cruise ship or cruise liner is a (usually very large) passenger ship used for pleasure voyages, where the voyage itself and the ship 's amenities are
part of the experience, as well as the different destinations along the way. Transportation is not the prime purpose, as cruise ships operate mostly on
routes that return passengers to their originating port, so the ports of call are usually in a specified region of a continent.
In contrast, dedicated transport oriented ocean liners do "line voyages" and typically transport passengers from one point to another, rather than on
round trips. Traditionally, anocean liner for the transoceanic trade will be built to a higher standard than a typical cruise ship, including high ... Show

Ocean liner services aimed at passengers ceased in 1986, with the notable exception of transatlantic crossings operated by the Cunard Line, catering to
the niche market who appreciated the several days at sea away from civilization.
In comparison to liner crossings, cruising voyages gained popularity; slowly at first but at an increased rate from the 1980s onwards. Initially the
fledgling industry was serviced primarily by small redundant liners, and even the first purpose built cruise ships were small. This changed after the
success of the SS Norway (originally the ocean liner SS France, which was converted to cruising duties) as the Caribbean 's first "super–ship".
Contemporary cruise ships built in the late 1980s and beyond, such as Sovereign–class which broke the size record held for decades by Norway, show
characteristics of size and strength once reserved for ocean liners–some have undertaken regular scheduled transatlantic crossings. The Sovereigns were
the first modern "megaships" to be built, they also were the first series of cruise ships to include a multi–story atrium with glass elevators. They also
had a single deck devoted entirely to cabins with private balconies instead of oceanview cabins. Other cruise lines soon launched ships with similar
attributes, such as the Fantasy class and Crown Princess. As the veranda suites were

The Pros And Cons Of Tourism In Thailand
Tourism is a beneficial industry to many countries, but has the potential to be one of its biggest threats. Tourism is a multimillion dollar industry for
some countries but sometimes the money that is made from it is not worth the harm it is doing. From environmental scars on the country itself through
pollution or physically changing the environment through deforestation and landscaping for building hotels and spas to help make tourist feel
comfortable. All of these things are sometimes done with the benefit of the country in mind but ends up doing the opposite. Tourism has an array of
benefits to a country in which are exploited to hide how it is destroying the countries environment, culture, and making it more and more dependent on
the money ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tourism leakage is an example of how money expected to stimulate an economy ends up stimulating another. An example of tourism leakage in
Thailand is that "70% of all money spent by tourists ended up leaving Thailand (via foreign–owned tour operators, airlines, hotels, imported drinks and
food, etc)" (Mustafa 2011). This negatively affects Thailand because 70% of the money made by local employees, and businesses and spent in other
places but Thailand in order to keep tourists coming back which will eventually increase the amount of money leaked. Countries that have a diverse
economy is a sign that their economy is healthy and may grow, but some countries depend on Tourism as a main source of income which could
cripple the country if anything tampers with the desire to visit said country. "Malta has only 380,000 residents, but received 1.2 million tourists in
1999. As 25% of GDP (and indirectly 40% ), tourism generated more than $650 million in foreign exchange earnings" (Negative Economic Impacts of
Tourism). With 65% of Malta's GDP coming from tourism, direct and indirectly if something were to affect Malta, for instance a diseases or natural
disaster the country may experience an economic crash. Countries that are economically dependent on tourism are talking steps toward economic
growth but at the same time a step back as the industry is not sustainable and are susceptible to external

What Is The Most Beautiful Beach Essay
To say that I like beaches, would be a lie. Nothing in the world can aptly describe my love for rolling waves, that wash up onto the beautiful beach
sand and then recedes back like a graceful ballerina. Maybe it's the surreal beauty or maybe it is the rhythmic flow of seawater that is so calming and
upsetting at the same time, that it attracts me like a moth to a night lamp. They are indeed beautiful. One can not disagree with this at all! Here's the
list of one of the most beautiful beaches of the world. In truth, there are hundreds of them, and to name just a few is an abomination, but nevertheless,
let's dive in!

6. Flamenco Beach, Puerto Rico
Known for sports fishing, diving spots and beautiful swimming locations, the Flamenco Beach on the island of Puerto Rico is a wonderful place to
be in. It is a widely agreed upon notion that Flamenco is the best beach of the Puerto Rico and even the Caribbean. The seafloor is covered with
beautiful reefs and the sand is white in color. The entire beach is in the shape of a horseshoe.
5. Platja Ses Illetes, Balearic Islands
Located about five kilometres from la Savina, the Platja Ses illetes is immensely popular for its crystal clear water. It has been named as a Human

Importance Of Culture In The Philippines
The Philippines is a vibrant nation full of life and color but what makes the Philippines stand out above the rest is the culture that defines it. In
Kim Zimmerman's article "What is Culture," she defines culture as "characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, encompassing
language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music, and arts." (Zimmerman, 2017) Although the Philippines has a large variety of cultural norms and
values, the most prominent aspects of their culture are the country's spoken language, religious beliefs, foods, social habits, and the arts. The
multiple languages and dialects spoken in the country is the clear form of communication and the best way to be involved into a country's culture.
Religion is a strong characteristic to be a part of in any country. Religious views use faith and beliefs to create a spiritually, strong bond within
people. The type of cuisine made and eaten in a country is significant because it represents the traditions of the culture by maintaining the
authenticity of the foods they eat. Social habits create a standard for the way norms and issues are taken care of in everyday life. The arts bring out
the creativity and imagination a country's culture has to offer. A country's culture is much more the distinctions between other nations. It is a
gateway to the heart and soul of the people and the Philippines demonstrates just how powerful culture can be for their nation as well as the rest of
the world. The Republic of the Philippines is one of the most popular countries in the Pacific Asia. The Philippines is a country made of many
beautiful islands and vacation hot spots that attract many tourists. Filipinos are known for their positive attitudes and hospitable characteristics. They
are known for a huge variety of food in which many people travel the globe to visit. They have many popular attractions like the perfect cone shaped
Mayon Volcano, the underground reef of Palawan and the amazing beaches of Boracay and El Nido. The Philippines has about 70 to 80 different
dialects with Tagalog, Cebuano, and Ilocano being the most popular dialects (Culture of the Philippines, 2017). English is also spoken in the

Edgar Sia II: The Man Behind Mang Inasal Sia 's first taste of running a business was when he was 20 years old. It was at the Four–Season Hotel,
followed by Mister Labada, a Laundromat, then Injap Color Express, a photo developing shop. All these are based in Iloilo. Then he cooked up the
idea of operating Mang Inasal, the specialty of which is grilled chicken. It started in 2003 when small town lad Edgar Sia II, then a 26–year–old college
dropout, grabbed a tiny spot in the parking lot of a mall, the site of an upcoming food hall. As a frequent customer of McDonald 's and KFC, Sia knew

community members including suppliers of kalamansi, charcoal, banana leaves, vegetables, bamboo sticks, and other ingredients. It also indirectly
gives income – generating activities to many. Mang Inasal 's 2006 debut in Manila was awkwardly timed as it was in the midst of a rice shortage in
the country. Sia 's response was to offer a value meal of grilled chicken and unlimited rice for the equivalent of $2. This had already become an instant
hit in Iloilo and Manila 's budget–conscious crowd took to it, too. The all–you–can–eat campaign, which was supposed to last two months, became a
permanent item on the menu. Today, Sia says, it 's their most popular product. Manila alone has over 100 Mang Inasal outlets; 200,000 customers
are served daily nationwide. Aiming to make his chain a national brand, Sia hit the road. He spent a year visiting over 70 cities in all. "Today if we

Hawkbill Turtle Research Paper
Can an animal's beauty be the cause of its extinction? This is the case for the Hawksbill turtle. Nahill clarifies, "people use the turtles' unique shells
for jewelry and other beauty accessories. The Hawksbill turtle is an endangered species, with human impact being the leading cause of its
endangerment. Since humans are the cause of their endangerment, it is our duty to raise awareness of such harm before it is too late" (Nahill, 2008).
The Hawksbill turtles are commonly known for their beautiful shell. The turtles are captured and killed so their shells could be sold. The shells sell
for around $220 per kilogram (Weisler, 2005). As these turtles are being captured and killed leading them to nearextinction, we need to understand the

The turtles are the only species in the ecosystem that can eat the poisonous sponges that suffocate and poison coral reefs. These turtles are one of
the rare animals that can eat the poisonous sponges without being harmed; the unique structure of their mouth and flexible neck allows them to
eat the sponges out of every crack on the coral reef (Edelman, 2004). "Since 1970, researchers from the National Marine Fisheries Service have
claimed that the Hawksbill turtles population have declined. The turtles were officially classified as endangered in 1970" ( NOAA Fisheries,
2014). Toxic sponges reproduce quickly and take up any empty space on the coral reefs. Brandis states, "if the Hawksbill turtle were not around to
consume the sponges, the coral reef would not be able to survive" (Brandis, 2010 a). By constantly picking off and consuming the sponges, the
turtle also makes space for other sea creatures to live on the reefs. If the coral reefs die, the poisonous sponges will have no place for shelter; they
too will be impacted by the loss of the Hawksbill turtles. This underwater habitat as a whole will be disrupted by the decline in the Hawksbill turtles

A Journey Back Home At Home

  • 1. A Journey Back Home At Home A Journey Back Home There is no place like home. These are familiar words I often hear from people especially from those who are far away from home. They move or migrate to a different place because of many reasons; it can be a new job, work abroad, or simply to find better opportunity. Canada has been my home for the last 25 years. Living here gave me independence and the ability to improve myself. I'm lucky to be given the chance to stay and live in this beautiful country. All my four children were born and raised here. Growing up, I want them to learn about their roots and family heritage. I and my husband are both Filipinos. At home, they are already exposed to some of the values and traits of our culture. One summer, we planned a vacation, and I thought what better way to learn, understand and embrace the Filipino culture? Go visit the country. All of us were excited and looked forward to this memorable trip back home to my native land, Philippines. Philippines This country was discovered in 1543 by Villalobos, a Spanish explorer. I was five at the time, and I had only ridden on a plane once, so I was very excited. By the time I knew it, It was September. Our bags were packed, and we were on our way to the airport to go on a journey we would never forget. Then, I was flying. I remember the long ride on the airplane. To go to the Philippines from America byplane, it takes almost 24 hours to travel. All I remember doing was looking out the window, sleeping, eating the little packs of pretzels, nuts, and meals they served, and sleeping again. Around 18 hours into the flight, we took a quick stop in Japan. I remember buying many snacks from being starved on the plane ride. Soon after, we were back on the plane. We stayed for there for three nights. Boracay is a beautiful island in the Philippines. This where we spent our final days in the Philippines. The place where we stayed was full of sand, which I hated, so when I walked outside, it felt very strange. The pools around the area were beautiful, and since all the guests liked to swim in the ocean, my family had it all to ourselves. The nighttime was full of extravagant surprises. There were fire jugglers, special performances, and an abundance of complimentary food. I remember having to stay with my sister at our room, since we weren't old enough to go to the bars and clubs, so every night we would watch Caspar The Friendly Ghost. Although, if I was on the beach, I loved staring at the beautiful ocean. It was filled with sailboats, fish, and an array of colors. Essay On Cruise Ship CRUISE SHIP A cruise ship or cruise liner is a (usually very large) passenger ship used for pleasure voyages, where the voyage itself and the ship 's amenities are part of the experience, as well as the different destinations along the way. Transportation is not the prime purpose, as cruise ships operate mostly on routes that return passengers to their originating port, so the ports of call are usually in a specified region of a continent. In contrast, dedicated transport oriented ocean liners do "line voyages" and typically transport passengers from one point to another, rather than on round trips. Ocean liner services aimed at passengers ceased in 1986, with the notable exception of transatlantic crossings operated by the Cunard Line, catering to the niche market who appreciated the several days at sea away from civilization. In comparison to liner crossings, cruising voyages gained popularity; slowly at first but at an increased rate from the 1980s onwards. Initially the fledgling industry was serviced primarily by small redundant liners, and even the first purpose built cruise ships were small. This changed after the success of the SS Norway (originally the ocean liner SS France, which was converted to cruising duties) as the Caribbean 's first "super–ship". Contemporary cruise ships built in the late 1980s and beyond, such as Sovereign–class which broke the size record held for decades by Norway, show characteristics of size and strength once reserved for ocean liners–some have undertaken regular scheduled transatlantic crossings. The Sovereigns were the first modern "megaships" to be built, they also were the first series of cruise ships to include a multi–story atrium with glass elevators. They also had a single deck devoted entirely to cabins with private balconies instead of oceanview cabins. Other cruise lines soon launched ships with similar attributes, such as the Fantasy class and Crown Princess. As the veranda suites were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From environmental scars on the country itself through pollution or physically changing the environment through deforestation and landscaping for building hotels and spas to help make tourist feel comfortable. All of these things are sometimes done with the benefit of the country in mind but ends up doing the opposite. Tourism has an array of benefits to a country in which are exploited to hide how it is destroying the countries environment, culture, and making it more and more dependent on the money ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tourism leakage is an example of how money expected to stimulate an economy ends up stimulating another. An example of tourism leakage in Thailand is that "70% of all money spent by tourists ended up leaving Thailand (via foreign–owned tour operators, airlines, hotels, imported drinks and food, etc)" (Mustafa 2011). This negatively affects Thailand because 70% of the money made by local employees, and businesses and spent in other places but Thailand in order to keep tourists coming back which will eventually increase the amount of money leaked. Countries that have a diverse economy is a sign that their economy is healthy and may grow, but some countries depend on Tourism as a main source of income which could cripple the country if anything tampers with the desire to visit said country. "Malta has only 380,000 residents, but received 1.2 million tourists in 1999. As 25% of GDP (and indirectly 40% ), tourism generated more than $650 million in foreign exchange earnings" (Negative Economic Impacts of Tourism). With 65% of Malta's GDP coming from tourism, direct and indirectly if something were to affect Malta, for instance a diseases or natural disaster the country may experience an economic crash. Countries that are economically dependent on tourism are talking steps toward economic growth but at the same time a step back as the industry is not sustainable and are susceptible to external ... • 12. Importance Of Culture In The Philippines The Philippines is a vibrant nation full of life and color but what makes the Philippines stand out above the rest is the culture that defines it. In Kim Zimmerman's article "What is Culture," she defines culture as "characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, encompassing language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music, and arts." (Zimmerman, 2017) Although the Philippines has a large variety of cultural norms and values, the most prominent aspects of their culture are the country's spoken language, religious beliefs, foods, social habits, and the arts. The multiple languages and dialects spoken in the country is the clear form of communication and the best way to be involved into a country's culture. Religion is a strong characteristic to be a part of in any country. Religious views use faith and beliefs to create a spiritually, strong bond within people. The type of cuisine made and eaten in a country is significant because it represents the traditions of the culture by maintaining the authenticity of the foods they eat. Social habits create a standard for the way norms and issues are taken care of in everyday life. The arts bring out the creativity and imagination a country's culture has to offer. A country's culture is much more the distinctions between other nations. It is a gateway to the heart and soul of the people and the Philippines demonstrates just how powerful culture can be for their nation as well as the rest of the world. The Republic of the Philippines is one of the most popular countries in the Pacific Asia. It was at the Four–Season Hotel, followed by Mister Labada, a Laundromat, then Injap Color Express, a photo developing shop. All these are based in Iloilo. Then he cooked up the idea of operating Mang Inasal, the specialty of which is grilled chicken. It started in 2003 when small town lad Edgar Sia II, then a 26–year–old college dropout, grabbed a tiny spot in the parking lot of a mall, the site of an upcoming food hall. It also indirectly gives income – generating activities to many. Mang Inasal 's 2006 debut in Manila was awkwardly timed as it was in the midst of a rice shortage in the country. Sia 's response was to offer a value meal of grilled chicken and unlimited rice for the equivalent of $2. This had already become an instant hit in Iloilo and Manila 's budget–conscious crowd took to it, too. The all–you–can–eat campaign, which was supposed to last two months, became a permanent item on the menu. Today, Sia says, it 's their most popular product. Manila alone has over 100 Mang Inasal outlets; 200,000 customers are served daily nationwide. Aiming to make his chain a national brand, Sia hit the road. Nahill clarifies, "people use the turtles' unique shells for jewelry and other beauty accessories. The Hawksbill turtle is an endangered species, with human impact being the leading cause of its endangerment. Since humans are the cause of their endangerment, it is our duty to raise awareness of such harm before it is too late" (Nahill, 2008). The Hawksbill turtles are commonly known for their beautiful shell. The turtles are captured and killed so their shells could be sold. The shells sell for around $220 per kilogram (Weisler, 2005). The turtles are the only species in the ecosystem that can eat the poisonous sponges that suffocate and poison coral reefs. These turtles are one of the rare animals that can eat the poisonous sponges without being harmed; the unique structure of their mouth and flexible neck allows them to eat the sponges out of every crack on the coral reef (Edelman, 2004). "Since 1970, researchers from the National Marine Fisheries Service have claimed that the Hawksbill turtles population have declined. The turtles were officially classified as endangered in 1970" ( NOAA Fisheries, 2014). Toxic sponges reproduce quickly and take up any empty space on the coral reefs. Brandis states, "if the Hawksbill turtle were not around to consume the sponges, the coral reef would not be able to survive" (Brandis, 2010 a). By constantly picking off and consuming the sponges, the turtle also makes space for other sea creatures to live on the reefs. If the coral reefs die, the poisonous sponges will have no place for shelter; they too will be impacted by the loss of the Hawksbill turtles. This underwater habitat as a whole will be disrupted by the decline in the Hawksbill turtles (Brandis, 2010 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
