- #5 Emphasize that this is “The” credential. There might be others out there, this is the only official, legitimate LinkedIn badge of approval. Having it demonstrates that you are an expert. It is also the #1 Certification for “recruiters” on LinkedIn
- #6 Call out the three types of functions of Find – Engage and Manage Three major categories of activities, and that we support all of them. Emphasize that this is a “comprehensive” exam. The features listed here are a sample and not exhaustive. The point to drive home is that someone who is certified does indeed have a lot more knowledge than someone who is not. Sure someone can do a search without knowing boolean/ alerts etc., they are just not doing it right. Same for InMails etc. The certification tells your prospective employers that you have all the skills they might need for you to be successful in your job Segue: Let us now tell you what you will gain from getting certified.

Tags – Building a pipeline of talent has helped me be more of a proactive recruiter vs. reactive which is essential because of the unique skills that we search for. They’re not always easy to find, so preparing for future needs helps me and the company be more successful. InMail Templates – I create a template within a template to make them more personal – it allows me to work quickly yet still customize based on the specific search I’m running Segue: The enhanced skill set is what leads you to the second value prop of getting recognized
- #9 Internal Recognition – Team, Manager, Hiring Manager Focus on the fact that you get a certificate and a logo but the benefits go beyond that. You can add it to your profile, your emails etc. Kelly was able to get more credibility from the Hiring Manager and her team by giving them an insight into the talent market. Kelly used advanced search features such as filters to break down the data, derive conclusions and make meaningful recommendations. I’m now seen not just as a Recruiter, but as a Talent Advisor – I have a seat at the table that informs business decision. I was able to show them the capabilities and I’ve now become the concierge for our company. Once I was able to turn the computer around and show them what I was working on I got a lot of buy-in from my managers. Kelly to elaborate on push back she used to receive from Hiring Managers which she doesn’t anymore. How they include her in the beginning of a strategy discussion versus come to her at the end, just to fill the seats with people. Segue: The credibility is not just limited to internal but also external folks.

Enhance my professional reputation Members who display certifications get 6 times more profile view. quality prospective candidates hear from multiple recruiters, having this logo helps you stand out. Cue for Kelly, how are peers in the industry responding to her. External – I’ve noticed more people reaching out to me & connecting with me to ask my advice since becoming Certified. It’s no longer just “oh I need a job”, it’s a real consultative conversation I’m having now with job seekers versus something strictly transactional. It’s helped me build rapport with thought leaders in the Talent Acquisition space. I’ve been able to connect with other known leaders which has only helped me do my job better. I’ve noticed I’m getting more responses from those types of inquiries because I’ve learned how to make my profile more professional and also because of Certification. It’s opened up a lot of personal avenues for me in the form of professional relationships I may not otherwise have developed.

Cute to ask Bryan about the two things that stood out to him and his team about areas that they could improve in. Lack of knowledge in Search esp. Boolean Using features such as pipelining Increase my team’s recruiting effectiveness Background: 32 ppl attempted, 15 passed. The folks who didn’t pass were light in areas of boolean, projects, pipelining. Segue > How has the enhanced skill set impacted the team collaboration?
- #14 Focus on the many organizational and collaboration tools that exist in the system that allow for some creative ways in which teams can work with one another. Ensure that my team is being more efficient by using LinkedIn Recruiter organization and collaboration tools Cue: Ask Bryan about the new process that has now been implemented where a couple of team members work together using tags, which they didn’t before. 1) Pilot with two people, one folder, 70 – 80 candidates at time, this strategy is the direct result of LinkedIn Certification. Had a 1 hour meeting for everyone on TA team to roll this out as an organization wide strategy in 2015. Segue > Now that the entire team is working better together, how is that helping with TA’s overall goals.
- #15 The ultimate job of the TA function is to help drive business goals by hiring the right engineer, the smart sales rep, the efficient office admin etc. That is how TA contributes to the company’s success. And in today’s times, this has to be done faster, smarter better. Your company is competing against a lot of others for quality talent. Focus on how the ultimate reason someone buys Recruiter is to “grow” their organization by making great quality hires. And by getting certified and up-leveling the skills of everyone on the team, this goal is achieved faster, smarter and better. This is the roi from the certification program. How they do it fast > by building a pipeline for future needs. Cue: Ask bryan about any increase seen in the results they have gotten from Recruiter? R&D team’s outlook towards TA org has changed significantly in the last year alone. Recruiter got recognized from VP of R&D. 30+ hires, software engineers, moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan

Bryan: Getting certified is part of the 60-90 day onboarding plan Answer: 40% increase in the # of hires we got from LinkedIn Recruiter within one year. The results are sustainable and only getting better. 70% increase in the # of hires from LIR in the second year. Bryan - Any advice to other TA leaders Segue Now that we feel you have been convinced by Kelly and Bryan, let us show you how you can get certified.

Points to mention how to get to Learning Center easily. Highlight “get certified” and “prep curriculum” Variety of learning material to suit all types of learners – tip sheets, live webinars as well as on-demand content that you can access anytime. Kelly’s recommendations to those prepping for the exam: Do spend the time to first use the product. You can’t just read stuff, using the product definitely helps. Go to the live webinars for topics that may be a bit more complex/ new to you, live instructors help you out. Video tutorials are also a great resource. One area that I used the learning content a lot was Jobs and Pipelining. As you get closer to the exam, brush up with the tip sheets – time saving and comprehensive material. I actually have a few pasted on my desk for quick reference! Bryan Please jump in and add that you saw that folks who did not prepare did not do well and vice versa.
- #20 Mention that the handbook has all the info they need on the “how” such as scheduling, paying etc. Mention that we have Global test centers, if you are in a major city in NAMER or outside, it is very likely that you have a test center that is close to you. Also, our testing partner continuously adds test centers to their system. Also, we are happy to let you know that very soon, we will be offering a convenient, state of the art remote testing option. Using this option, you will be able to test from the comfort of your home or office. Remote exams will be monitored by a trained proctor using external webcams. Look for updates on our website in a few weeks.
