 The climate of a place is affected by its location and
distance from the Sea.
 Jaisalmer in the desert of Rajasthan is very hot
while Drass and Kargil in Jammu are Freezing cold.
 Mumbai and Kolkata faces Moderate climate.
 Mawsynram in Meghalaya receives the worlds
highest rainfall at the same time in Jaisalmer it
might not rain
 The grasses, shrubs and trees, which grow on their
own without interference from human beings are
called NATURAL VEGETATION
 Due to varied climatic conditions, India has a vide
range of Natural vegetation such as Tropical,
Mountain vegetation, Thorny and Mangrove
forest.
 1:- Tropical Evergreen forest or Rainforest.
 2:- Tropical Deciduous forest.
 3:- Thorny Bushes.
 4:- Mountain Vegetation and
 5:- Mangrove forests.
 FIRST OF ALL LET US SEE What is Tropical forest
and why are they called so ?
 Almost all Tropical Forests lie between two
imaginary lines North and South of the Equator
called the Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn
 That is why they are called Tropical forest or
Tropical rainforest
 That area can be seen in the WORLD MAP.
Trees which are found are ,Mahogany, Ebony and Rosewood. Andaman and
Nicobar,North-eastern states and narrow strip of Western Ghats are home of these
forests.
Rosewood is used for costly show pieces and for shade. Ebony’s
seed is an alternative of coffee and of ornaments also.

 THESE FORESTS ARE ALSO
CALLED MONSOON FORESTS
THEY SHED THEIR LEAVES
TIMELY, THEY ARE LESS
DENSE. THE IMPORTANT
TREES ARE S AL, TEAK,
PEEPAL, AND NEEM.
NORMALLY FOUND IN
M.P. U.P. & BIHAR.
NOW we will see the trees of SAL, PEEPAL and NEEM

THORNY BUSHES
This type of vegetation is found in dry areas of the country.
The leaves are in the form of spines to reduce the loss of
water. For Example :- Cactus, Babul and Khair and
Jujuba. These trees are found in Haryana, Punjab and Gujarat.

MOUNTAIN VEGETATION
Most of the trees are conical in shape thus
they are called coniferous trees, they are,
Chir Pine and Deodar
MANGROVE OR TIDEL FOREST
Mangrove forest are found on
the swampy, marshy coastal
areas of West Bengal and in
the Andaman and Nicobar
Islands. It is named after the
Sundari tree that grows here.
Normally trees have special
roots that come out of the
water for breathing.
Let us see the Marshy, Swampy and coastal land
Here is Sundari Trees of Sunder ban

WHY ARE FOREST NECESSARY?
Trees provide us Oxygen, Fuel wood,
fodder, medicinal plants and herbs, lac,
honey, gum, honey, Sports Goods,
Furniture, Fruits, Gum and Lac, Habitat for
Wildlife, Timber, Rubber etc. As we know
that forest are home to a variety of wild
life so we will see The Asiatic
lions,Elephants, Leopard, Birds such as our
National Bird etc.
