1. What have you
learnt about
technologies from
the process of
constructing this
product?
2. • Once we had filmed our project, we had to edit it but on a
program which was on an iMac. This software was called
iMovie; this helped us come up with different ideas which
will make our film better to our target audience.
• When we were filming our film, my role was the camera
operator, so I was in charge of all the shots and how the
shot is produced and how long it lasts for. I only had little
input with the editing as the characters within the film
wanted to edit it because they wanted to get involved with
the technology side of the project.
• To edit the film, we had to begin with importing our film
onto iMovie, then we needed to choose which clip we
needed and what clips would look better on our film and
we also had to cut clips to make them all fit into the
correct time our film opening has to be.
• On iMovie, we added effects like ‘cross dissolve’ and
‘cross blur’. We used these transitions in the party scene;
these are effective to our film as the shots zoom in and
out, following the storyline as the character reflect back to
the party.

Within iMovie, I have learnt how to produce a film; starting from nothing
and ending up with something I can be proud of. I have also learnt what
types of transitions would look and be effective towards our target
audience and which would be appropriate for our film genre. For
example, we used effective transitions like ‘cross dissolve’ and ‘cross
blur’ as it is relevant to our genre and would be effective to receive a
worthwhile reaction from our target audience. In iMovie, we learnt how to
change the audio effects of the dialogue that we used. We chose ‘large
room’, because this made the speech echo; the effect it had on the film
was made to reflect Abhi thinking back going into a flashback. We used
this effect in the scene where Abhi and Amelia are saying goodbye to
each other which is quite an emotional moment for both of them.
We also added titles into different parts of the opening, which consisted
of all the cast and production names and what our roles were in the film.
I thought we would add titles so we could show the audience at the
beginning of the film, so we can introduce each character, etc. We felt
this was important to include because this allows the audience
acknowledge who each character is.
An effect that we had to use at the start of the film was ‘fade to black’.
This was situated right at the start of our film so the opening of the film
doesn’t just appear suddenly. This effect gives a professional look to the
film plus it means the film doesn’t start straight away, which builds up
the tension.
4. • Not only did we learn how to edit our film on iMovie but we
also had to construct blogs about every step of our choices
that involved our project. We used a website called
Edublogs, which is a different format of presenting our
work towards the examiner.
• I had never used this website before I started Media
Studies meaning I had to learn how to produce and
construct my work. It wasn’t that hard to get used to but it
got easier every time I added a new post and then
eventually I found different features which I could use in
my work such as:
• Adding different types of media files, like photos, videos,
etc. This helps with my work because it shows evidence of
what I’ve been working on and how I completed it.
• Categorising every post. This makes sure that our posts
are in the right section for our development plan, so we
know what piece of work is accredited for each section.
• Embedding links into my posts. Doing this process, its
allows visual access to video on my blog page so instead
of inserting the website then you can watch the video on
my blog page.
5. • This is a software, which is much like iMovie but more
complex and it concentrates more on animation. We used
this software to create our main title ‘Tres Ante Meridiem’.
The difference on this software is that we don’t have to
film anything to create something. We just have to insert
images or text, which will then make it transform into a
new type of animation. Luckily, me and another 2 people
out off my group took part in an after effects workshop,
which taught us how to use this software and we created
our own project so we could get used to it. In addition, we
had this software on our iMacs at school so we were able
to make our own piece of work which we could use in our
film.
6. • Prezi is a software on the internet, which gives people the
chance to display a piece of work in different formats.
• I have used this software to present my work which gives
me the chance to present my work in a variety of formats.
• This is a very handy software as it is interactive on my
blog so people can through the Prezi by just clicking the
buttons.
• Prezi helps to format information and pieces of work
easily and in a different style. It helps with presenting
work in a variety of ways which will be effective towards
the examiner.
7. • Slide share is another software, where you can upload
a PowerPoint presentation and then insert the
PowerPoint into my blog.
• With Slide Share, you are able to view a whole
presentation on the blog page without opening a new
window and it stays on the blog page where you can
explore through the presentation quickly and it is easy
to read.
• This is a better way to present my work as it gives the
audience of my blog an interactive method to explore
my blog; instead of just reading from loads of text.
