2. 1. Know how to act during the โscreeningโ interview
A screening interview is the first interview in the hiring process. It gives you
a chance to show that you are hard-working, easy to talk to, and well-
mannered.
Be prepared to answer the traditional questions:
- why did you go to law school, what practice area are you interested in?
- why do you want to work in OUR law firm?
- why did you decide to interview for this position?

4. Take a piece of paper and write down the questions that will make you look
good during the interview. Come up with deep and meaningful questions
(culture or vision-related), or ask what you want to know in relation to training,
mentorship, or pro bono work.
Example:
- How would you describe your firm's culture in three words?
- What training opportunity you think is the most beneficial for a junior
associate?
Attention: donโt ask a question if an answer to this question is available online.

to Forbes.
Situation: โAt the law firm B, I realized that most lawyers could not complete
their reading by the deadline, therefore, they spent more time reading than
thinking about difficult cases.โ
Obstacle(s): โNo one knew how to change this until I presented a new schedule
to everyoneโs attention.โ
Actions: โI implemented the new schedule with success, and it was easy for
everyone to adjust to the new way of working.โ
Results: โAs a result, missed deadlines were decreased by 87%.โ
