How Technology Can Be Accessed By Students For Assessments
In this section of the final project paper, I have made suggestions for the use of technology to be
accessed by students for assessments. The students will use laptops for the assessments because
laptops are more accessible and easy for students to manage in classrooms. The most important
thing for students to understand is navigation from websites and follow instruction on the websites,
in order to gather information. Also, students should be able to locate the subject information that
will support their assignments.
When students are able to find subject information for assignments, they are proficient in using
technology. Navigation is an essential part of using computers, because it validates the research
information location. When students spend too much time on locating information they can become
confused about the details of completing the assignments. Understanding details and knowledge are
very important elements on assignments.
Evaluation
The "Technology–based in classrooms for assessments focus on the use of technology by teachers
and students to create learning products, and promote skills. The students performed with proficient
skills compared to the students who were not included in the afterschool tutoring sessions. This
evaluation was based upon the students practice time and skills learned about comprehension with
instruction and how well they demonstrated the skills. The students were assessed about the
knowledge of the reading and writing skills

The Assessment Of An Assessment
Introduction The assessment process is one that an educator often contemplates while planning a
curriculum, implementing instruction, and after the assessment. Creating an assessment that helps
students continue their learning should be the main goal. One way to help foster an assessment
environment of continuous learning is to provide students with authentic assessments that they play
an active role in. Performance assessments that give students authentic tasks to complete help
teachers assess what students know and are thinking (Laureate Education, Inc., 2010). It is
important that students are able to demonstrate their learning in a way that suits them. In order to do
this, assessments should be aligned with the standards and should be ... Show more content on

Students are expected to write an argumentative essay (e.g., evaluative essays, proposals) to the
appropriate audience that includes: a clear thesis or position based on logical reasons with various
forms of support (e.g., hard evidence, reason, common sense, and cultural assumptions) (Texas
Education Agency, 2010). This standard suggests that students should be able to write
argumentatively by using persuasive techniques. Therefore this performance assessment will help
students understand how rhetorical appeals are used to persuade voters in elections. As a result of
the knowledge gained, students will be able to convince an audience of voters by their use of
persuasive techniques by the end of the unit. Understandings and Essential Questions A unit on
persuasive writing is meant to teach students that they can write persuasively to serve a purpose. As
a result of this assessment, students should understand that the art of writing persuasively is used in
several aspects of life, including politics. Assessments should be ongoing learning opportunities for
students (McTighe and O'Connor, 2005). Throughout the course of the unit, students will be
answering the essential question: How does the use of persuasive techniques make

Social Workers And The Social Worker Client Relationship
Today's social workers are surrounded by technology, which changes the way social workers and
clinicians practice. Technology helps social workers and clinicians work more efficiently and
effective, as it improves greater productivity, less paperwork, ultimately allowing more time for
clients. With the increase of use in technology, the current NASW Code of Ethics (2008), has
created new standards specifically related to electronic communications, such as email, fax
machines, computers, and electronic records. According to, Getz (2012), "research and experience
thus far indicates that mobile application technology has the capability to support the social worker–
client relationship". With the increase in technological advances, social workers have the ability to
utilize technological assessment tools in order to assist veterans with psychological issues.
Currently, there are many different websites that social workers or clinicians could use in order to
better serve and assess veterans. One online website that is beneficial for social workers to use is the
U.S Department of Veteran Affairs, PTSD Assessment. This website assists social workers by giving
information on a variety of measures assessing trauma and PTSD in Veterans, such as assessment
basics, training and tools, and veteran specific information (2015). This website provides facts about
PTSD, as well as a practical guide to assessing PTSD. I would use this tool as a resource for
working with a veteran with PTSD

Current Process Of Nice Technology Appraisal
Current process of NICE Technology Appraisal:
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is an executive non–departmental
public body of the Department of Health in the United Kingdom. NICE offers various services such
as development of scientific and clinical guidelines, quality standards and information services for
public health1 etc.
Among these services, NICE also carries out technology appraisals known as multi technology
appraisals (MTAs) or single technology appraisals (STA).
Technology appraisals are recommendations on the use of new and existing medicines and
treatments within the NHS. These can be1:

So QALY gained would mean same for all diseases and Incremental cost effective ratio would be
the additional money required to gain per QALY. The threshold is currently set between £20,000 –
£30,000 per QALY4,5 which means if the new medicine/product's ICER value is below this
threshold this will be recommended by NICE as cost effective and if it is higher it will not be
recommended.
Drawbacks with the current approach of QALY:
Current approach by NICE is though very useful in terms of getting a quantitative assessment
however the QALY approach does have some drawbacks. Some of these drawbacks are listed
below:
No room to assess the innovation of a new product
Subjective nature of scales to assess QALY (EQ–5D),
No assessment of burden of illness
No assessment of negative impact on society
No assessment of wider societal benefit
Proposal to Modify the current approach
A proposal for NICE to modify their current approach is vital in order to improve the process. One
key thing would be to assess the degree of innovation of the new product/device/medicine. Let's
review first what innovation means and what can be the process improvement.
Definition of Innovation
The word "innovation" has many

Pros and Cons of Assessments
Pros and Cons of Assessment Assessments are an everyday occurrence in classrooms around the
world. There are many different types of assessments, which generally fall into formal and informal.
There are advantages and disadvantages to both. The major importance is selecting the right
assessment. It is up to the teacher to decide what information is needed and how that information is
collected. Formal Assessments Formal assessments are a way of observing and recording
information in a highly structured manner. It typically requires a large amount of preparation and
training. There are many different forms of formal assessments to choose from. Two examples are
standards based test and national norm–referenced test. Standards ... Show more content on

"Informal formative assessment can take place in any student–teacher interaction" (Ruiz–Primo
& Furtak, 2004). Typically informal assessments do not involve a lot of prior preparations.
Some informal assessments that I personally use on a consistent basis are checklists, observation,
portfolios and clickers: Checklists The one that I use most frequently are checklists. I use checklists
for every subject at every point in the school day. In a special education class with numerous staff
members, it can be difficult to ensure that data is being collected thoroughly. In our classroom, we
use checklists to track behaviors, to ensure that students are meeting their IEP goals, knowledge of
their sight words, that they are completing their work, and last but not least are the students grasping
the concept that is being taught. The quickness and easiness to use the checklists are a major
advantage. Another advantage is that teachers are able to have results quickly. With these quick
results, teachers can address the issues being observed instantly. A disadvantage is that different
people may interpret the checklists in different ways. This can lead to confusion on what needs to
truly be addressed. Another disadvantage is that with certain areas to watch for, other areas might be
overlooked. Observations Observations are one of the easiest forms

Health Technology Assessment (HTA): A Summary
Mathes, Jacobs, Morfeld, and Pieper (2013) described health technology assessment (HTA) as, "...a
method of evidence synthesis" (p. 2). Mathes et al. (2013) had set out to provide a summary and
compare recommendations regarding the preparation of economic evaluations of international HTA
agencies. Mathes et al. (2013) had scoured web pages of international HTA agencies for handbooks,
manuals, and guidelines containing recommendations. Their effort resulted in 25 manuals from 14
agencies (Mathes et al., 2013). The HTA agencies were either completely or partly publicly funded
and included the Agency for Health Technology Assessment in Poland, Canadian Agency for Drugs
and Technologies in Health, Dutch Health Care Insurance Board, Danish Centre ... Show more

(2013) found that methods for evaluations varied widely. For example, in economic evaluations,
HTA agencies recommended using a cost–utility analysis (CUA) or cost–effectiveness analysis
(CEA); however, the CUA was the overall preferred method (Mathes et al., 2013). Almost all of the
HTA agencies had recommended one main comparator, in other words, standard of care or existing
practice (Mathes et al., 2013). In general, Mathes et al. (2013) found that some agencies placed
more value on the standardization of evaluations in terms of consistency, transparency, and
comprehensibility. Others emphasized flexibility in methods for decisions to problems (Mathes et
al., 2013). In state–funded healthcare systems, HTAs had higher standardization, which was
exhibited by their more precise recommendations in guidelines and formulations (Mathes et al.,
2013). Generalized problems often affected health outcomes and the costs of health technology
because of the lack in transferability in the guidelines of study results to real–world applications
internationally (Mathes et al., 2013). Mathes et al. (2013) recommended that harmonization, along
with systemic reviews, were needed to assist in economic evaluations across international borders as
a reliable means of benchmarking HTAs. Just as information technology (IT) lacks interoperability,
so does the ability to evaluate systems using the same standard methodology since there are
differences within each system and organization.

Computer Simulations Used as Technology-Based Assessments...
Today we live in an increasingly electronic, virtual world. Educators and their students depend upon
this world to conduct research, simulate reality, and demonstrate their achievement. Our students
never knew their environment not to have the Internet and video games. Thus, they expect their
educational experience to included these as well. Student expectations can be seized upon to engage
them in formal education. Driver Education has long recognized and seized upon this opportunity.
The very nature of the driving task necessitates structured learning and assessment experiences
beyond the traditional classroom, such as simulations. These experiences must provide opportunity
for practice and assessment without risk, a virtual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The results could then be instantly observed from the instructor console, via the use of a rotary
telephone dial, and tallied by the system enabling the instructor to assess student knowledge and
tailor instruction. Today the instructors at Chambersburg are using digital photography and
presentation software to assess students continually in the classroom. Effective assessment is
accepted universally as being associated with effective instruction. The need for technology–based
assessment in the classroom existed then and exists now. Risk encountered during the real driving is
experience is lessened for the community, the instructors, and the students. Thus, the simulation
technology used in the Driver Education program is necessary.
Computer enabled simulation tools allow amazing representations of the driving experience.
Modern gaming systems like the PlayStation three and X–box allow users to see, hear, and feel the
driving experience to an extreme degree. Most students are aware of these simulations if not directly
experienced with them. Elizabeth Simpson and Frances A. Clem state "92 percent of children ages
2–17 play video and computer games" (Simpson and Clem 2008). These students then come to the
school setting with expectations of what a simulation should be. They believe it should match or
exceed their gaming console experience. Is this

Taxonomy Is Business And Technology Assessment Essay
Though most study claims the fact that users use both taxonomy navigation and search in
combination when they are available, in content management system, an effective taxonomy helps
users to navigate to the documents in which they are interested in, rather than doing a search.
Having an effective taxonomy also helps the user to assess whether a document is relevant for what
they are trying to accomplish (Hanley, n.d). First step in designing this taxonomy is Business and
Technology assessment. A Business Assessment is constructed in a way that it can provide an
objective view of any business both financially and operationally. It mainly focuses on strength and
opportunities for the improvement of the business and ultimately to increase the overall market
value (Plethora Businesses, n.d). A business process is a brief description of the work carried out by
an organization. It describes the collection of tasks performed by an organization towards a specific
goal (product or service) for a customer or a set of customers. These individual tasks are connected
as a workflow and captured on the information systems and applications. This business process
description gives a picturized way of the organization's operations and information flow. This helps
in taking decision towards any organizational as well as operational improvements. This will also
help to evaluate the value produced by information technology in supporting business operations.
Overall it supports both

Understanding the principles and practices of assessment 1.1 Assessment measures the learner's
progress towards or the completion of, the learning aim and criteria, and can be used at any point
during the learning cycle. It can provide information to adapt the delivery to suit the learner's needs
and abilities; a learner may need more help or time on some aspects, or has progressed quicker than
planned and requires additional goals. By standardising the assessment process this creates
uniformity for all learners. 1.2 There are three main areas of assessment, which are the initial,
formative and summative assessment. Initial assessment includes work done prior or during a
learner's induction to the programme. Formative assessment includes ... Show more content on

Formative assessment can be an effective tool in building positive relationships as it gives cause for
two–way communication at any point of a learning course. It can be written or verbally delivered,
offering the opportunity to appeal to a variety of learning styles. It enables the learner to influence
their learner programme and helps them build essential life–skills such as goal setting and self
assessment. Its main disadvantage for the trainer is the amount of time the type of assessment can
consume, and a learner may become disengaged by repetitive assessment exercises that interrupt the
flow of learning. Summative assessment The assessment used at the end of a learning programme to
determine finally whether the learning programme to determine finally whether the learning aims
have been reached can be described as summative. It is often essential to fulfil contractual
obligations with external bodies, and correct execution is necessary to ensure financial recompense.
It can have real value to the learner as it offers recognition of achievement, but can cause anxiety in
more nervous learners as the finality of the exercise is realised. 3.1 When planning assessment,
several factors need to be taken into consideration. An assessor needs to take into consideration of
safeguarding and the safety of both the learner and themselves, often risk assessments are

Health Technology Assessment In Transplantation
Nov 28 – Dec 5: This week, I attended the Monday seminar on the use of health technology
assessment in transplantation hosted by Kim Castellano. It was interesting to gain some insights into
the public policy procedures behind the health care services. The seminar introduced me to the
novel field of health technology and outlined the agencies and ways established scientific methods
are used to analyze evidence and develop assessments tools for new and existing health care
services and medical devices. In particular, the seminar emphasized the important interplay between
clinical, economical, patient and public policies factors within the health care field through HTA.

It was interesting to gain some insights into the important interactions between the immune system
and organ transplantation. The seminar outlined the underlying principles of immunosuppressant
therapy and introduced different types of drugs that can be used to minimized transplant rejection.
In addition, the seminar highlighted some common types of infections within the transplanted
population and the need to strike a fine balance between suppressing the immune system and
allowing patient to fight against infections. The most interesting part of the presentation was the
major roles social and psychological factors that can play in influencing patient's drug adherence.
This reminded me of a clinical case I experienced during one of my observations regarding a patient
who almost lost his graft due to drug nonadherences. This underscores how the medical field is an
integrated field that requires the collaboration of knowledge from both social and scientific
perspectives. During the week, I worked efficiently on completing the scanning and shredding task
for the Transplant Admissions and Medical History binder. I was able to complete the task one day
after it was assigned. On Friday, I attended the research in progress meeting. It was really interesting
to see the diverse types of project people are working on within the program. I was quite impressed
and excited by the proposed video and web development projects aimed to increase the publicity of
our program. Lastly, during the week I had a meeting with Dr. Kim regarding the DCAP project.
The meeting greatly clarified the objectives of the DCAP and highlighted key components to
include. After the meeting, I scheduled a brainstorming session with my research partner Yoonsik to
set specific objectives, targets and timelines for the project. On Sunday, I

Technology Based Learning, Assessment, And Teaching
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Technology is at the core of virtually every aspect of our daily lives and work. While it provides
engaging and powerful learning experiences, technology also provides access to content, resources
and assessments that measure student achievement in a more complete and meaningful ways.
Studies show that there is a direct correlation between the use of technology and improvements in
student achievement. Research demonstrates extraordinary success with trying to reengage students
who have been struggling with learning. It shows that 98% percent of the learners improve in their
learning when exposed to technology–based content.

The power of technology provides different approaches to learning and enables lifelong learning in
students. Many students have access to internet information and other resources on a daily basis.
This enables them to share information and ideas with people from all over the world. It promotes
collaboration and allows students to learn new things.
The challenge is for our education system to leverage modern technology to create meaningful
connections between students' lives to real world problems. The world we live is highly
technological that young American students will have more jobs and opportunities in their lifetime
than their parents. "Learning can no longer be confined to the years we spend in school or the hours
we spend in the classroom: It must be lifelong, life–wide, and available on demand" (Bransford et
al. 2006).
Technology must be incorporated into learning to prepare students to learn throughout their lives
and in settings far beyond classrooms. The way students learn and how teachers teach must be
changed to meet all students' needs. According to Bransford, there must be 21st. Century technology
integrated into learning in meaningful ways to keep students engaged, motivated and inspired to
achieve their highest potential. Technology makes it possible for instructors to design effective
lessons; therefore attracting students'

Sustainable construction When it comes to building assessment methods, this theme led to many
and different forms of studies on the relationship between the project team integration and the
sustainable construction. Comparing dominant construction strategies with sustainable construction,
Lutzkendorf & Lorenz (2011) argue that, on one hand, sustainable construction requires greater
disciplinary specialization and greater functional dependence between components. On the other
hand, traditional construction, which in turn depends on greater integration between project team
members (Robichaud & Anantatmula, 2011; Rohracher, 2001). There are also research based on
empirically point of view, a number of scholars have tried to test such claims by developing
quantitative indices for different dimensions of project team integration and sustainable construction
and by examining the statistical relation between them. For example, Mollaoglu–Korkmaz, Swarup,
& James Whitcomb Riley (2013) examined the relation between project delivery methods, project
team integration and LEED building scores in 12 case studies in the United States. They
operationalized 'integration' by the 'early collaboration of the project's participants, the chemistry
among participants and the timing and method of communication' (Mollaoglu–Korkmaz, Swarup, &
Riley, 2013). The research found the expected relation between project team integration and

Healthcare Technology Assessment
Healthcare Technology Assessment Analyze the basic technology underlying health care
information systems and determine the most pressing need for innovation. The underlying basic
technology that provides the foundation of healthcare information systems is predicated on Master
Data Management (MDM) and the creation of a single System of Record for capturing a 360–
degree view of the patient. Ancillary to the MDM foundation that anchors healthcare information
systems are the many transaction systems that healthcare information systems rely on for ensuring
healthcare providers, insurers, and government healthcare insurance agencies all have workflows
defined to covering expenses and costs (Snyder, Paulson, 2002). Healthcare information systems
have often lost this focus on the patient as customer, often confusing the insurance provider or the
government services provider as the most important entity involved in transactions. As a result of
this confusion, healthcare information systems are designed with the insurance provider as the
primary customer, not the patient (Towill, 2009). This fundamental difference in the design
attributes of these systems often also leads to confusion over just which analytics to use in
measuring their effectiveness. With the best–performing healthcare information systems being
designed for the patient and a myriad of others designed to support just the insurance claims process
and insurance providers, there is a very wide gap in healthcare

There are endless ideas and discussions on what is required of government to insure efficiency both
in the long run and short run in terms of protecting the public good on various topics such as

consider is what portion of the public is being protected, and whom do these externalities affect? It
is obvious that America is made up of a diverse group of socio–economic levels, beliefs, and
political desires. Here, will discuss a few of the possibilities the government must choose from and
what externalities, whether positive or negative, are encountered. Research and Development

Integrating Technology Into The Classroom Instruction
Technology Integration Integrating technology into the classroom instruction means more than just
teaching basic computer skills in a computer class. Technology integration must happen throughout
the curriculum to enhance the learning process. Throughout my Black History/Civil Rights lesson, I
integrated technology by using PowerPoint presentations, pictures, maps, and allowing the students
to use laptops for research and for extended learning. The technology that I used to enhance the
lessons encouraged active engagement and participation individually as well as in groups.
Technology was helpful with the group projects and the students enjoyed the opportunities.
Learning through group projects with the use of technology allowed the students to be challenged
while providing them with experience. Assessments After each lesson, the students were assessed on
what they learned and their understanding of the lesson. The assessment also gave me an idea of if I

Canadian Agency Of Drugs And Technologies
Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to introduce a health–related organization that we were not familiar
with and to investigate the organization. For this paper, the organization that will be investigated
will be the Canadian Agency of Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH). The following
sections will discuss what the organization is about, its mission and mandate, how the organization
is structured, how are they funded, and why does the organization exist and do the work that they
accomplish.
What is the organization?
The Canadian Agency of Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) is an independent, not–for–
profit organization that is based in Ottawa but has liaison officers across Canada. The pan–Canadian
organization is responsible in providing Canada's health care decision–makers with objective
evidence to help them make informed decisions about the optimal use of drugs and medical devices
within our healthcare system. They are considered to be an organization that is a trusted source of
credible health care evidence across the nation (CADTH, 2015).
The organization's purpose states that it harmonizes the scientific approach of its products and
services. They have also increased the production of its health technology assessments (HTAs) and
rapid reviews. On the customer side, the organization has invited patient engagement, and
welcomed the pan–Canadian Oncology Drug Review – one of their major key initiatives – to the
organization. Their work is one of

How Student Engagement And Comprehension Throughout This...
This unit plan will implement a variety of methods to assess student engagement and
comprehension throughout this entire unit. Begin the unit by gauging to see what students already
know about the 1920s by having students complete a Pre–Assessment. Many students are already
familiar with some of the themes and content connected with the 1920s and teacher can use pre–
assessment to figure out what students are already familiar with. First brainstorm with the students
to see what they already know and then provide students with a pre–assessment to evaluate
individual knowledge. The brainstorming is very general and presents an overview whereas the
assessment provides the teacher with actual data. The Unit Outline explains how the unit ... Show

This assessment will consist of a project that will reflect what the students have learned over that
section of the unit. Students will be given a rubric for each of these projects.
Formative Assessments:
Students will be assessed by a teacher centered informal questioning period prior to each day's
lesson to observe their grasp of the content materials of the prior lesson. Teacher will also use
journal entries and exit slips as formative assessments as well.
Reading Assignments:
There is no text for this unit; however students will be required to participate in
Popcorn reading activities and discussion during class time on handouts and varied types of reading
materials. Participation in activities and discussions is mandatory and will be graded on an informal
basis.
Group Projects/Presentation:
Students will be required to discuss and create one type of newspaper article that reflects what has
been discussed in the required unit. Students will work creatively together arranging pictures and
designing descriptive text and articles. Groups will then present their newspaper page to aid their
classmates in understanding issues and topics of the period.
Individual Assignments: Poem – Students will be required to demonstrate their understanding of the
cultural and social influences on the art and culture of the period. Students will hand in their poems
for grading and editing. Class discussion of materials will aid all students in learning more

Designing A Stronger Behavior Management System
Self–Assessment
Creating and implementing this unit on division for this diverse fifth grade class was able to help me
grow as an educator. While there were many strengths from this unit, there was also some areas of
growth that could have been made in order to make the unit even more successful. One major
strength from this unit was the differentiation of instruction and assessments. An area of growth for
this unit would be to create a stronger behavior management system in order to make the time
dedicated to math each day more valuable.
This inclusion classroom has a wide range of learners with varying ability levels. In math, there are
four tiered groups with some students who are above grade level, some on grade level, and some
who are two or three grade levels behind. This unit has rather abstract concepts that the students
needed to build an understanding of, and in order to do that I needed to make sure to differentiate
the delivery of instruction as well as the assessment types. This was a strength for this unit, because
each lesson was differentiated for the tiered groups in the form of pacing, guides, graphic
organizers, assessments, manipulatives, rubrics, and difficulty of problems. One specific way that I
differentiated during this unit was by providing students with guided notes, graphic organizers, and
manipulative to increase their understanding of abstract division strategies for solving multi–digit
division problems. Long division was a particularly

Effective Instruction For English Learners
Summary one: Effective Instruction for English Learners
Calderon, Slavin and Sanchez (2011) in their article "Effective Instruction for English Learners"
consider the problem of students who are non English speakers and come to live in the USA for
several reasons such as immigrants. The U.S government requires every school that has more than 5
percent non–English speakers to provide these with specialized programs. The authors go to explain
useful instructions for teaching students English Language. They also review the most successful
models for teaching non native speakers. The authors indicate that the most important approach to
enhance and improve the outcomes for English learners is to reform the "entire" school, and use an

Also, the author points out how the improving in technology plays an important role in acquiring the
English language. There are many "techniques applicable" for teaching English, teachers must
decide what is the best. in addition, Shyamlee goes on analyzing the importance and the goals of
using "Multimedia Technology" to English teaching in promoting the students' desire to learn
English, supports the communication skills among students and between students and their teachers,
gain a knowledge about the western culture, improve the teaching effect, produce a context for
teaching the language and to create a flexible environment for students. In addition, the author states
some problems that could be arising from using technology. At the end of the article, the author
states some suggestions and strategies to ensure the appropriate and the effective use of technology
(Shyamlee 2012).

Technology In Assessment
There is great scope for the use of technology in the assessment process. Ease of access to
appropriate technology can enhance and enable the learner experience and facilitate the work of the
assessor, centre and awarding body.
The assessor could feasibly carry out the initial assessment using online technology by asking
candidates to complete diagnostic questionnaires via a series of online tests to help determine ICT,
literacy, and numeracy levels. The assessor and candidates can use electronic storage such as
OneDrive, Google Docs, Drop Box or the centre's own VLE to save data including documents,
video, photographs, scans and audio. This in turn is automatically saved and securely shared with
others involved in the assessment process. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Peer to peer assessment is useful and helps diminish the risk of becoming demotivated or feeling
isolated when carrying out a programme of study. Web–based learning like this can stretch learners
providing opportunities for distance or blended learning. The Awarding Body's online provision
allows candidates, assessors and verifiers to access to the criteria easily whilst also providing
exemplars to see and guide them in their own work. Others based in the assessment process can
benefit from this peer to peer relationship. If assessors are home based or working peripatetically

Effects Of Remote Home Safety Assessments
Effects of On–site/Remote Home Safety Assessments in Elderly Populations Fall–Related Injuries
Falls and fall–related injuries have a significant impact on the elderly population. One out of three
older community–living adults fall each year causing a deteriorated quality of life, suffering, need
for care, increased health care expenses, and decreased productivity (Quigley, Palacios & Spehar,
2006). According to Al–Faisal (2006), one half to two thirds of these falls happen in the older adult's
home, and are usually a result of unsafe home environments. Many experiments have studied factors
that influence the risk of falls, and recent hospital discharges seems to be associated with this risk.
Mahoney and colleagues (2000) conducted a study that concluded the rate of falls was significantly
increased in the first month after being discharged from the hospital. Their findings also showed that
15% of all re–hospitalizations within the first month after discharge were contributable to fall–
related injuries. Nonetheless, the elderly population who is at risk for falls is constantly growing.
Adults 85 and older are estimated to be the fastest growing population group and this longevity is
altering the connections between home, quality of life, and short and long term care (Horowitz,
Nochajski, & Schweitzer, 2013). Need for Home Safety Assessments Specifically, older Veterans
are at a high risk for anticipated physiological falls (Quigley et al., 2006). Many Veterans and older

Conduct Assessments
Ways to conduct assessments Assessment in counseling should be viewed not as a one–time
prediction activity but rather as continuous throughout the counseling process (Juhnke, 1995). In the
future I would conduct assessments for each of my clients before service is conducted to gather
information about them and when there have been any types of disruption with the client while
receiving services. Conducting assessments would help to determine what goals to set and other
resources that the client may need to assist with their problem. With the increase problem with
people being killed by law enforcement or being a member of someone that had been killed. It is a
major concern to me so, I would assess the people involve to evaluate their mental status and

been through as a victim so, as counselor assesses them more in detail with the necessary tools

Risk Assessment in Information Technology
This paper will address risk assessment in Information Technology and discuss factors used to
identify all kinds of risks in company network diagram. It will also assess the risk factors that are
inclusive for the Company and give the assumptions related to the security data as well as regulatory
issues surrounding risk assessment. In addressing the global implications, the paper will propose
network security vulnerabilities and recommend the mitigation measures for the vulnerabilities.
Cryptography recommendations based on data driven decision–making will be assessed, and
develop risk assessment methodologies.
Risk assessment in Information Technology
Risk assessment is one of the mitigation methods for the Networks design. The scanners or
vulnerability tools are used to identify the risks or vulnerabilities within the network design. The
risks can be identified by these tools as they extend beyond software detects to incorporate other
easily vulnerabilities including mis–configurations (Rouse, 2010). The shareware assessment tools
are accessible online and can be used to supplement commercial scanners.

by the assessor or module tutor, for example, questions, projects or assignments Externally set –
usually by an Awarding/Examining body, for example, an examination at the end of the programme.
These will be marked either by module tutor, or the Awarding/Examining body. The assessment
strategy should state how the subject should be assessed, and subsequent results recorded. It should
also state the experience, professional development and qualifications that assessors should hold.
Quality assurance requirements, for example internal and external verification or moderation, will

Band Achievement Essay
Achievement in band is often judged by the band's performance at concerts. Concerts are typically
considered the culminating event of the class. Students, parents, and teachers alike judge the quality
of learning by the quality of performance. The spring concert is compared to the winter concert to
show how much the ensemble has improved throughout the school year and therefore how much
learning has taken place (Barden, 2009). Douglas Orzolek, a music education expert in the state of
Minnesota, attended a state school board conference and asked a group of volunteers how they
assessed their school music programs. The answers he received included, "No complaints or letters
from parents or students, 'good' concerts, 'good' trips, a strong pep band for games, trophies and
awards, and good numbers" (Orzolek, 2006 para. 6). Although music has been taught in public
schools as a curricular subject since the 1930s, music education has struggled to be considered an
academically legitimate class. In the 1970s a greater emphasis was placed on competition between
music groups in an attempt to substantiate the importance of music. As a result, music is often
compared to athletics and other extracurricular activities despite the fact that it is a curricular course
of study. This also led to the idea that a first place award in a competition indicates a high level of
education. A trophy from a marching band invitation or concert band festival was meant to prove the
importance of music to

Risk Assessment: The Technology Industry
Part I The technology industry is one predicated on constant innovation. Products within the field
must provide a compelling value proposition for consumers in order to properly maintain both
margins and revenue. Technology companies, particularly those who manufacture products are
realizing decreasing margins as the competitive environment matures (Bodie, 2004). Competition
for foreign competitors has reduced margins and subsequently profit margins. Cost conscious
consumers are now purchasing product based primarily on price rather than specifications. Combine
this fact with the macroeconomic factors prevailing in the market and the industry has significant
headwinds going forward one year from now. This is particularly true of Dell who has seen an
erosion of market share due to the influx and demand of tablet computers. Less demand for
traditional laptops has also decreased the profit and operating margins of the firm. Even within its
own market, Dell has encountered significant competition for rivals such as HP, IBM, and Microsoft
who recently announced its own tablet (Scheck, 2008). Below is a chart indicating markets share
within the PC market over the last decade. Notice that market share gains after the housing market
collapse have deteriorated. This reflects changing consumer sentiments regarding the overall
purchase of PCs and heightened demand for alternative products such as tablets and notebooks. 02

Health Information Technology And Assessment
Health Information Technology Stephanie Simmons HA: 565 Health Information Technology and

industry relied on a paper–based system to organize, store, interpret, and integrate patient records
and medical information. However, with the informatics industry booming and allowing for new
electronic technology and information systems, clinicians now find this data stored in convenient
coded computer systems. According to AHIMA, Health information is the data related to a person's

Each entity may have different purposes for collecting and using the data. Focus could range from
the clinical, administrative, or financial aspects of data. This paper will discuss the importance of
health information along with how individuals, professionals, and organizations use health
information. How can health information improve the provision of quality? Finally, discuss the
possible future of information technology in healthcare. II. The Importance of Health Information
Health IT helps health care providers with accurate, complete and timely information about a
patient's health. This ensures providers can get the best possible care, whether it be during a routine
visit or a medical emergency. Second, there is better coordination of care that is being given
especially to patients who has a serious medical condition. Third, Health IT allows providers a way
to securely share information with patients and their family caregivers over the Internet through a
portal. This is convenient ways for patients to view their test results without having to wait days or
until the next follow–up appointment. Last, Health IT give physicians the opportunity to diagnose
patient's health problems sooner, reduce medical errors, and lower unnecessary health care costs.
Health information must collected in a way that is meaningful to the provider viewing the

This essay reports on a research study on online and paper based assessment. The context for the
study was set within the vocational area of hair and beauty. The particular interest was the Level 3
Media and Make–up course. It was therefore important to establish what factors such as, attitudes
and perspectives influence the learner's references. The paper will begin with an overview of the
area of concern and establish the research question. A critical review of literature was examined and
will be discussed and its relationship to the research question will also be explained. The
methodology used will be justified with the awareness of its limitations. The findings from the study

This implementation of technology is widely used in other contexts. For example, the use of
computers in assessment include initial diagnostic tests in colleges and higher education, theory
driving tests, employment application tests, and qualification exams by awarding bodies (Russo,
2000, no pagination, Trotter, 2001:6) cited in Hoisseini (2014:661).
Sustainability, green initiatives and the move towards paperless administration have had major
influence on the change. However, computers are very useful apparatus and many industries would
disappear if they don't implement the latest technology. However, there are still concerns relating to
its effectiveness in specific areas. Many institutions have implemented online assessment as it seems
to be more fast, efficient and productive than traditional paper based assessment.
According to Fleming and Hipple (2004:13) cited in Hosseini et al. (2014:660) "online assessment
is the most accurate and accessible method through the use of computers..." The vocational online
assessment rules for the Level 3 Media and Make up course and hair and beauty courses only allow
the learners to undertake the online exams three times, if they are not yet able to achieve a pass they
are able to go on to sit the paper based exam. Learners and I have had informal discussions about
the online exams and they have said that their online scores are not a true level of their current

Physical Testing Should Be Accomplished Using Technology
There was a time when students had to write several pages of homework. One would have written
all through the night in an English composition notebook with a use of a black pen. Some students

Now in days we have advanced in our technology abilities. We can do our personal or professional
assignments in computers, tablets, or smartphones. The use of white out or even physical writing
papers are not required anymore due to the increase of technology accessibility. Even different types

Psychological testing has been around for years. 2,000 years ago, the Chinese empire administered
civil service examinations to potential candidates entailing a wide range of knowledge and skills
(Bowman, 1989; DuBois, 1970). But the launching of the testing movement is largely due to
biologist Francis Galton for believing that the index of a person's intelligence could be found by
testing sensory discrimination and also his development of statistical methods (Anastasi, 1993).
Intelligence testing became explored by Alfred Binet and Theodore Simon, believing that
intelligence could be measured through multifaceted logical functions, as a result the Binet–Simon
scale was developed. Another important step in this testing movement was the effects of World War
I. During this stressful time, two major developments happened, a psychometric instrument was
developed for group testing service members which paved the way for organizations to use group
testing and personality tests emerged due to studying mental health patients from the war. Today the
use of tests and of test–development practice has been steadily rising and is spreading to new areas
of application (Anastasi, 1993). The use of modern technology has made psychological testing for
personnel selection more effective, some examples are virtual reality and popular devices such as
smartphones. Virtual reality refers the use of computerized technology that enables participants to

researcher, "The examination was designed to probe all the dimensions that are central to basic
college physics. It serves as the most reliable single index of students ' understanding of basic
college physics" (Zhou, 2012). The researcher also talks about how since the FCI was created it has
been validated multiple times. The consistent validity makes this measure great for measuring
achievement but only for the content in the first half of a college physics course. While this is
extremely useful it is not useful for my study. The Physics Achievement Test (PAT) may be a more

Technology-Supported Assessment
The foundations of instruction and theories were implemented in earlier times, and the efforts of
educational psychologists were used to develop a connection between psychology and to make
applications of learning theories in classrooms. Two of the theorists from this time were John
Dewey (1910), who developed a connection between learning theory and educational practice, and
Edward Thorndike (1913), who explored the principles of learning that were used directly with the
teaching process (Tennyson, R. D. (2010, p. 1). Thorndike (1913) developed the body of
instructional design principles with task analysis and teaching methods as a result of his research

How Technology Can Be Accessed By Students For Assessments

  • 1. How Technology Can Be Accessed By Students For Assessments In this section of the final project paper, I have made suggestions for the use of technology to be accessed by students for assessments. The students will use laptops for the assessments because laptops are more accessible and easy for students to manage in classrooms. The most important thing for students to understand is navigation from websites and follow instruction on the websites, in order to gather information. Also, students should be able to locate the subject information that will support their assignments. When students are able to find subject information for assignments, they are proficient in using technology. Navigation is an essential part of using computers, because it validates the research information location. When students spend too much time on locating information they can become confused about the details of completing the assignments. Understanding details and knowledge are very important elements on assignments. Evaluation The "Technology–based in classrooms for assessments focus on the use of technology by teachers and students to create learning products, and promote skills. The students performed with proficient skills compared to the students who were not included in the afterschool tutoring sessions. This evaluation was based upon the students practice time and skills learned about comprehension with instruction and how well they demonstrated the skills. The students were assessed about the knowledge of the reading and writing skills ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. The Assessment Of An Assessment Introduction The assessment process is one that an educator often contemplates while planning a curriculum, implementing instruction, and after the assessment. Creating an assessment that helps students continue their learning should be the main goal. One way to help foster an assessment environment of continuous learning is to provide students with authentic assessments that they play an active role in. Performance assessments that give students authentic tasks to complete help teachers assess what students know and are thinking (Laureate Education, Inc., 2010). It is important that students are able to demonstrate their learning in a way that suits them. In order to do this, assessments should be aligned with the standards and should be ... Students are expected to write an argumentative essay (e.g., evaluative essays, proposals) to the appropriate audience that includes: a clear thesis or position based on logical reasons with various forms of support (e.g., hard evidence, reason, common sense, and cultural assumptions) (Texas Education Agency, 2010). This standard suggests that students should be able to write argumentatively by using persuasive techniques. Therefore this performance assessment will help students understand how rhetorical appeals are used to persuade voters in elections. As a result of the knowledge gained, students will be able to convince an audience of voters by their use of persuasive techniques by the end of the unit. Understandings and Essential Questions A unit on persuasive writing is meant to teach students that they can write persuasively to serve a purpose. As a result of this assessment, students should understand that the art of writing persuasively is used in several aspects of life, including politics. Assessments should be ongoing learning opportunities for students (McTighe and O'Connor, 2005). Throughout the course of the unit, students will be answering the essential question: How does the use of persuasive techniques make ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Social Workers And The Social Worker Client Relationship Today's social workers are surrounded by technology, which changes the way social workers and clinicians practice. Technology helps social workers and clinicians work more efficiently and effective, as it improves greater productivity, less paperwork, ultimately allowing more time for clients. With the increase of use in technology, the current NASW Code of Ethics (2008), has created new standards specifically related to electronic communications, such as email, fax machines, computers, and electronic records. According to, Getz (2012), "research and experience thus far indicates that mobile application technology has the capability to support the social worker– client relationship". With the increase in technological advances, social workers have the ability to utilize technological assessment tools in order to assist veterans with psychological issues. Currently, there are many different websites that social workers or clinicians could use in order to better serve and assess veterans. One online website that is beneficial for social workers to use is the U.S Department of Veteran Affairs, PTSD Assessment. This website assists social workers by giving information on a variety of measures assessing trauma and PTSD in Veterans, such as assessment basics, training and tools, and veteran specific information (2015). This website provides facts about PTSD, as well as a practical guide to assessing PTSD. I would use this tool as a resource for working with a veteran with PTSD ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Current Process Of Nice Technology Appraisal Current process of NICE Technology Appraisal: The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is an executive non–departmental public body of the Department of Health in the United Kingdom. NICE offers various services such as development of scientific and clinical guidelines, quality standards and information services for public health1 etc. Among these services, NICE also carries out technology appraisals known as multi technology appraisals (MTAs) or single technology appraisals (STA). The threshold is currently set between £20,000 – £30,000 per QALY4,5 which means if the new medicine/product's ICER value is below this threshold this will be recommended by NICE as cost effective and if it is higher it will not be recommended. Drawbacks with the current approach of QALY: Current approach by NICE is though very useful in terms of getting a quantitative assessment however the QALY approach does have some drawbacks. Some of these drawbacks are listed below: No room to assess the innovation of a new product Subjective nature of scales to assess QALY (EQ–5D), No assessment of burden of illness No assessment of negative impact on society No assessment of wider societal benefit Proposal to Modify the current approach A proposal for NICE to modify their current approach is vital in order to improve the process. One key thing would be to assess the degree of innovation of the new product/device/medicine. Let's review first what innovation means and what can be the process improvement. It is up to the teacher to decide what information is needed and how that information is collected. "Informal formative assessment can take place in any student–teacher interaction" (Ruiz–Primo & Furtak, 2004). Typically informal assessments do not involve a lot of prior preparations. Some informal assessments that I personally use on a consistent basis are checklists, observation, portfolios and clickers: Checklists The one that I use most frequently are checklists. I use checklists for every subject at every point in the school day. In a special education class with numerous staff members, it can be difficult to ensure that data is being collected thoroughly. In our classroom, we use checklists to track behaviors, to ensure that students are meeting their IEP goals, knowledge of their sight words, that they are completing their work, and last but not least are the students grasping the concept that is being taught. The quickness and easiness to use the checklists are a major advantage. Another advantage is that teachers are able to have results quickly. With these quick results, teachers can address the issues being observed instantly. A disadvantage is that different people may interpret the checklists in different ways. This can lead to confusion on what needs to truly be addressed. Another disadvantage is that with certain areas to watch for, other areas might be overlooked. • 7. Health Technology Assessment (HTA): A Summary Mathes, Jacobs, Morfeld, and Pieper (2013) described health technology assessment (HTA) as, "...a method of evidence synthesis" (p. 2). Mathes et al. (2013) had set out to provide a summary and compare recommendations regarding the preparation of economic evaluations of international HTA agencies. Mathes et al. (2013) had scoured web pages of international HTA agencies for handbooks, manuals, and guidelines containing recommendations. Their effort resulted in 25 manuals from 14 agencies (Mathes et al., 2013). The HTA agencies were either completely or partly publicly funded and included the Agency for Health Technology Assessment in Poland, Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health, Dutch Health Care Insurance Board, Danish Centre ... For example, in economic evaluations, HTA agencies recommended using a cost–utility analysis (CUA) or cost–effectiveness analysis (CEA); however, the CUA was the overall preferred method (Mathes et al., 2013). Almost all of the HTA agencies had recommended one main comparator, in other words, standard of care or existing practice (Mathes et al., 2013). In general, Mathes et al. (2013) found that some agencies placed more value on the standardization of evaluations in terms of consistency, transparency, and comprehensibility. Others emphasized flexibility in methods for decisions to problems (Mathes et al., 2013). In state–funded healthcare systems, HTAs had higher standardization, which was exhibited by their more precise recommendations in guidelines and formulations (Mathes et al., 2013). Generalized problems often affected health outcomes and the costs of health technology because of the lack in transferability in the guidelines of study results to real–world applications internationally (Mathes et al., 2013). Mathes et al. (2013) recommended that harmonization, along with systemic reviews, were needed to assist in economic evaluations across international borders as a reliable means of benchmarking HTAs. Just as information technology (IT) lacks interoperability, so does the ability to evaluate systems using the same standard methodology since there are differences within each system and organization. ... Educators and their students depend upon this world to conduct research, simulate reality, and demonstrate their achievement. Our students never knew their environment not to have the Internet and video games. Thus, they expect their educational experience to included these as well. Student expectations can be seized upon to engage them in formal education. Driver Education has long recognized and seized upon this opportunity. Effective assessment is accepted universally as being associated with effective instruction. The need for technology–based assessment in the classroom existed then and exists now. Risk encountered during the real driving is experience is lessened for the community, the instructors, and the students. Thus, the simulation technology used in the Driver Education program is necessary. Computer enabled simulation tools allow amazing representations of the driving experience. Modern gaming systems like the PlayStation three and X–box allow users to see, hear, and feel the driving experience to an extreme degree. Most students are aware of these simulations if not directly experienced with them. Elizabeth Simpson and Frances A. • 9. Taxonomy Is Business And Technology Assessment Essay Though most study claims the fact that users use both taxonomy navigation and search in combination when they are available, in content management system, an effective taxonomy helps users to navigate to the documents in which they are interested in, rather than doing a search. Having an effective taxonomy also helps the user to assess whether a document is relevant for what they are trying to accomplish (Hanley, n.d). First step in designing this taxonomy is Business and Technology assessment. A Business Assessment is constructed in a way that it can provide an objective view of any business both financially and operationally. It mainly focuses on strength and opportunities for the improvement of the business and ultimately to increase the overall market value (Plethora Businesses, n.d). A business process is a brief description of the work carried out by an organization. It describes the collection of tasks performed by an organization towards a specific goal (product or service) for a customer or a set of customers. These individual tasks are connected as a workflow and captured on the information systems and applications. This business process description gives a picturized way of the organization's operations and information flow. This helps in taking decision towards any organizational as well as operational improvements. Formative assessment can be an effective tool in building positive relationships as it gives cause for two–way communication at any point of a learning course. It can be written or verbally delivered, offering the opportunity to appeal to a variety of learning styles. Its main disadvantage for the trainer is the amount of time the type of assessment can consume, and a learner may become disengaged by repetitive assessment exercises that interrupt the flow of learning. Summative assessment The assessment used at the end of a learning programme to determine finally whether the learning programme to determine finally whether the learning aims have been reached can be described as summative. It was interesting to gain some insights into the important interactions between the immune system and organ transplantation. The seminar outlined the underlying principles of immunosuppressant therapy and introduced different types of drugs that can be used to minimized transplant rejection. In addition, the seminar highlighted some common types of infections within the transplanted population and the need to strike a fine balance between suppressing the immune system and allowing patient to fight against infections. The most interesting part of the presentation was the major roles social and psychological factors that can play in influencing patient's drug adherence. This reminded me of a clinical case I experienced during one of my observations regarding a patient who almost lost his graft due to drug nonadherences. This underscores how the medical field is an integrated field that requires the collaboration of knowledge from both social and scientific perspectives. During the week, I worked efficiently on completing the scanning and shredding task for the Transplant Admissions and Medical History binder. I was able to complete the task one day after it was assigned. On Friday, I attended the research in progress meeting. Comparing dominant construction strategies with sustainable construction, Lutzkendorf & Lorenz (2011) argue that, on one hand, sustainable construction requires greater disciplinary specialization and greater functional dependence between components. On the other hand, traditional construction, which in turn depends on greater integration between project team members (Robichaud & Anantatmula, 2011; Rohracher, 2001). There are also research based on empirically point of view, a number of scholars have tried to test such claims by developing quantitative indices for different dimensions of project team integration and sustainable construction and by examining the statistical relation between them. For example, Mollaoglu–Korkmaz, Swarup, & James Whitcomb Riley (2013) examined the relation between project delivery methods, project team integration and LEED building scores in 12 case studies in the United States. They operationalized 'integration' by the 'early collaboration of the project's participants, the chemistry among participants and the timing and method of communication' (Mollaoglu–Korkmaz, Swarup, & Riley, 2013). The research found the expected relation between project team integration and procurement method (with American Construction Management at Risk ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Healthcare Technology Assessment Healthcare Technology Assessment Analyze the basic technology underlying health care information systems and determine the most pressing need for innovation. The underlying basic technology that provides the foundation of healthcare information systems is predicated on Master Data Management (MDM) and the creation of a single System of Record for capturing a 360– degree view of the patient. Ancillary to the MDM foundation that anchors healthcare information systems are the many transaction systems that healthcare information systems rely on for ensuring healthcare providers, insurers, and government healthcare insurance agencies all have workflows defined to covering expenses and costs (Snyder, Paulson, 2002). Healthcare information systems have often lost this focus on the patient as customer, often confusing the insurance provider or the government services provider as the most important entity involved in transactions. As a result of this confusion, healthcare information systems are designed with the insurance provider as the primary customer, not the patient (Towill, 2009). This fundamental difference in the design attributes of these systems often also leads to confusion over just which analytics to use in measuring their effectiveness. With the best–performing healthcare information systems being designed for the patient and a myriad of others designed to support just the insurance claims process and insurance providers, there is a very wide gap in healthcare ... There are endless ideas and discussions on what is required of government to insure efficiency both in the long run and short run in terms of protecting the public good on various topics such as research and development, education, pipelines, and climate change. What one must immediately consider is what portion of the public is being protected, and whom do these externalities affect? It is obvious that America is made up of a diverse group of socio–economic levels, beliefs, and political desires. Here, will discuss a few of the possibilities the government must choose from and what externalities, whether positive or negative, are encountered. Research and Development (R&D) is necessary to the creation, development, and commercialization of new technologies and practices. "The assessment of emerging energy–efficient industrial technologies can be useful for identifying research and development projects; identifying potential technologies for market transformation activities; providing common information on technologies to a broad audience of policy–makers; and offering new insights into technology development and energy efficiency potentials" (Research & Development). Technology integration must happen throughout the curriculum to enhance the learning process. Throughout my Black History/Civil Rights lesson, I integrated technology by using PowerPoint presentations, pictures, maps, and allowing the students to use laptops for research and for extended learning. The technology that I used to enhance the lessons encouraged active engagement and participation individually as well as in groups. Technology was helpful with the group projects and the students enjoyed the opportunities. Learning through group projects with the use of technology allowed the students to be challenged while providing them with experience. Assessments After each lesson, the students were assessed on what they learned and their understanding of the lesson. In math, there are four tiered groups with some students who are above grade level, some on grade level, and some who are two or three grade levels behind. This unit has rather abstract concepts that the students needed to build an understanding of, and in order to do that I needed to make sure to differentiate the delivery of instruction as well as the assessment types. This was a strength for this unit, because each lesson was differentiated for the tiered groups in the form of pacing, guides, graphic organizers, assessments, manipulatives, rubrics, and difficulty of problems. One specific way that I differentiated during this unit was by providing students with guided notes, graphic organizers, and manipulative to increase their understanding of abstract division strategies for solving multi–digit division problems. Effects Of Remote Home Safety Assessments Effects of On–site/Remote Home Safety Assessments in Elderly Populations Fall–Related Injuries Falls and fall–related injuries have a significant impact on the elderly population. One out of three older community–living adults fall each year causing a deteriorated quality of life, suffering, need for care, increased health care expenses, and decreased productivity (Quigley, Palacios & Spehar, 2006). According to Al–Faisal (2006), one half to two thirds of these falls happen in the older adult's home, and are usually a result of unsafe home environments. Many experiments have studied factors that influence the risk of falls, and recent hospital discharges seems to be associated with this risk. Mahoney and colleagues (2000) conducted a study that concluded the rate of falls was significantly increased in the first month after being discharged from the hospital. Their findings also showed that 15% of all re–hospitalizations within the first month after discharge were contributable to fall– related injuries. Nonetheless, the elderly population who is at risk for falls is constantly growing. Adults 85 and older are estimated to be the fastest growing population group and this longevity is altering the connections between home, quality of life, and short and long term care (Horowitz, Nochajski, & Schweitzer, 2013). • 34. Band Achievement Essay Achievement in band is often judged by the band's performance at concerts. Concerts are typically considered the culminating event of the class. Students, parents, and teachers alike judge the quality of learning by the quality of performance. The spring concert is compared to the winter concert to show how much the ensemble has improved throughout the school year and therefore how much learning has taken place (Barden, 2009). Douglas Orzolek, a music education expert in the state of Minnesota, attended a state school board conference and asked a group of volunteers how they assessed their school music programs. The answers he received included, "No complaints or letters from parents or students, 'good' concerts, 'good' trips, a strong pep band for games, trophies and awards, and good numbers" (Orzolek, 2006 para. 6). Although music has been taught in public schools as a curricular subject since the 1930s, music education has struggled to be considered an academically legitimate class. In the 1970s a greater emphasis was placed on competition between music groups in an attempt to substantiate the importance of music. As a result, music is often compared to athletics and other extracurricular activities despite the fact that it is a curricular course of study. This also led to the idea that a first place award in a competition indicates a high level of education. • 35. Risk Assessment: The Technology Industry Part I The technology industry is one predicated on constant innovation. Products within the field must provide a compelling value proposition for consumers in order to properly maintain both margins and revenue. Technology companies, particularly those who manufacture products are realizing decreasing margins as the competitive environment matures (Bodie, 2004). Competition for foreign competitors has reduced margins and subsequently profit margins. Cost conscious consumers are now purchasing product based primarily on price rather than specifications. Combine this fact with the macroeconomic factors prevailing in the market and the industry has significant headwinds going forward one year from now. This is particularly true of Dell who has seen an erosion of market share due to the influx and demand of tablet computers. Less demand for traditional laptops has also decreased the profit and operating margins of the firm. Even within its own market, Dell has encountered significant competition for rivals such as HP, IBM, and Microsoft who recently announced its own tablet (Scheck, 2008). According to Fleming and Hipple (2004:13) cited in Hosseini et al. (2014:660) "online assessment is the most accurate and accessible method through the use of computers..." The vocational online assessment rules for the Level 3 Media and Make up course and hair and beauty courses only allow the learners to undertake the online exams three times, if they are not yet able to achieve a pass they are able to go on to sit the paper based exam. Learners and I have had informal discussions about the online exams and they have said that their online scores are not a true level of their current achievement ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Physical Testing Should Be Accomplished Using Technology There was a time when students had to write several pages of homework. One would have written all through the night in an English composition notebook with a use of a black pen. Some students would even rewrite the whole page or used white out to omit a mistake made during the assignment. Now in days we have advanced in our technology abilities. We can do our personal or professional assignments in computers, tablets, or smartphones. The use of white out or even physical writing papers are not required anymore due to the increase of technology accessibility. Even different types of testing whether education placement to psychological testing can be accomplished using technology such as smartphones. Smartphones can be effective and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Psychological testing has been around for years. 2,000 years ago, the Chinese empire administered civil service examinations to potential candidates entailing a wide range of knowledge and skills (Bowman, 1989; DuBois, 1970). But the launching of the testing movement is largely due to biologist Francis Galton for believing that the index of a person's intelligence could be found by testing sensory discrimination and also his development of statistical methods (Anastasi, 1993). Intelligence testing became explored by Alfred Binet and Theodore Simon, believing that intelligence could be measured through multifaceted logical functions, as a result the Binet–Simon scale was developed. Another important step in this testing movement was the effects of World War I. During this stressful time, two major developments happened, a psychometric instrument was developed for group testing service members which paved the way for organizations to use group testing and personality tests emerged due to studying mental health patients from the war. Today the use of tests and of test–development practice has been steadily rising and is spreading to new areas of application (Anastasi, 1993). The use of modern technology has made psychological testing for personnel selection more effective, some examples are virtual reality and popular devices such as smartphones. Virtual reality refers the use of computerized technology that enables participants to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Computer Related Technology Use The Force Concept Inventory In Computer–related technology use in the high school physics classroom: A case study, the study was done with a focus on qualitative data, but the Force Concept Inventory (FCI) was administered to students and analyzed to add a quantitative component to the study (McClure, 1996). The copy of the Force Concept Inventory in the study shows that it focuses on material from the first half of a physics curriculum, such as Newton's laws, kinematics, and uniform circular motion. The study Assessing the Effectiveness of E–learning Integration in College Physics in the Alamo Community Colleges District, also used the Force Concept Inventory to assess achievement. According to the researcher, "The examination was designed to probe all the dimensions that are central to basic college physics. It serves as the most reliable single index of students ' understanding of basic college physics" (Zhou, 2012). The researcher also talks about how since the FCI was created it has been validated multiple times. The consistent validity makes this measure great for measuring achievement but only for the content in the first half of a college physics course. While this is extremely useful it is not useful for my study. The Physics Achievement Test (PAT) may be a more useful measure for my study. "This is a researcher developed multiple choice objective test, made up of forty items. Each item has one correct option and four distractors. The instrument tested the pre– service teachers' intellectual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Technology-Supported Assessment The foundations of instruction and theories were implemented in earlier times, and the efforts of educational psychologists were used to develop a connection between psychology and to make applications of learning theories in classrooms. Two of the theorists from this time were John Dewey (1910), who developed a connection between learning theory and educational practice, and Edward Thorndike (1913), who explored the principles of learning that were used directly with the teaching process (Tennyson, R. D. (2010, p. 1). Thorndike (1913) developed the body of instructional design principles with task analysis and teaching methods as a result of his research outcomes and evaluation methods. The foundations of instructional theory can be based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Technology enables many of High Tech Innovation practices.
