LOOKING BACK AT YOUR PRELIMINARY
TASK, WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE
LEARNT IN THE PROGRESSION FROM IT
TO THE FULL PRODUCT?
2. • I have learned a lot about how to make a short film fro
m my preliminary task. I have learned to edit better by
making sure I make each cut seamless and unnoticeabl
e. I learned how to have better camera work and a vari
ety of different camera movements and angles like han
dheld shots, panning and crabbing shots to give each s
hot a different connotation through each movement an
d angle. I have also learned how to plan a better narrati
ve and make a good storyboard. through my preliminar
y, I have been able to implement match on action, shot
/reverse shot and the 180-
degree rule in my final product.
3. • From my preliminary task, i learned how and when to use different
types of shots. for example, i know when to use a fixed shot and
when to use a handheld shot. I also learned how to select a
soundtrack that matches the tone of the film. in the preliminary I
chose random music that felt like it could fit the tone of the shot
but it didn't fit it as well as I thought. I also learned how to write a
better script that gives the audience more information about the
narrative. From my preliminary, i have learnt how to frame shots
better, and how to select music that will give the audience a better
idea of what the theme of the films is. I have also learned how the
setting effects the tone of the product from my preliminary. My
preliminary was set in a classroom whereas my final product was
set in the urban streets of London.
