Reflective Essay On English 101
Proficient writing is an essential skill in all aspects of academic and professional achievement.
English 101, Introduction to Composition and Rhetoric, provided the framework to good writing,
teaching me composition and rhetoric fundamentals, polishing up my grammar and style, and
expressing a clear message. English 102, Composition, Rhetoric, and Research, continued to build
on the skills I learned in English 101, focusing on the subject matter research process and
employing various rhetorical and literary devices to better express a clear message to the reader.
The course also improved my critical thinking capacity, allowing me to culturally evaluate my
target audience, present logically flowing arguments using appropriate language and structure, and
critically reviewing my writing projects for content and expression. Every writer inherently knows
there's always room to improve and I hold fast to this mindset in all academic, professional, and
personal writing projects. English 102 has both challenged and inspired me to grow into a much
better writer than before I began the class, providing the necessary skills to be not just a good
writer, but a great writer.
Most of my English 102 writing projects are rhetorical arguments, intended to persuade the reader in
one direction or another. Reflecting on the many skills I honed in English 102, my predetermined
use of rhetorical strategies (ethos, logos, pathos), developing a concise thesis statement, and clearly

English Composition Reflective Essay
English composition has taught me everything I know now, from how to effectively write a thesis
to grammatically fix my essay. This class fixed my writing skills to speak and write incorrect
terms. English composition gave me the edge I need to take my writing skills to next level. This
class has helped me understand the importance of documentation in a research skill. English
composition showed me that sources either make or break your essay. The true honesty of this
course was that I am glad I took it. At first, I hate this class so much, because this class required so
much extra work to be done, but over time I realized that the extra work really pushes you over the
edge to make your essay great. The extra work justifies your essay and molds

During this class, the challenge of writing and reading many essays have definitely improve my
writing. There are so many details that need to be considered when crafting a paper. The grammar,
neatness, relevance of the content, and the paper formatting are key aspects of the quality of writing.
In the essay it was fairly simple to describe my surroundings, the sound, smell and general
structure. When I started thinking of all the things I remembered from my experience in the
ocean, I was able to make a gigantic list of details that I wanted to include in my essay, and I had to
do some editing in order to fit the project guidelines. I wanted to convey how powerful and moving
that experience was for me. I also wanted it to have a lot of vivid

Reflective Essay Reflection
Writing overall has never been my strong suit during my years of education, but this year I feel
like I grew as a writer and improved. English has never been one of my easier classes, but I still
put in the same amount of work that I do for my other classes. I know that compared to most
students, I have a really strong work ethic. With essays, I never waited until the last moment to write
the whole thing. For every essay, I planned my time wisely and split up for myself parts of the
essay and when I should have them done by. Additionally, this year I tried much more to revise my
essay and reread over it to improve it. Overall, my effort for writing essays was very good, but some
of my essays could have been focused more and not drift away from the prompt. The rhetorical
analysis was definitely the essay that I am most proud of. Rhetorical analysis were basically the
only essays that I did last year in AP Lang, but I got a C on almost everyone. Although this essay
was my strongest, I think I could have tried more to fix grammatical errors and sentence structure.
In my revision, I fixed a body paragraph and in that body paragraph I got rid of grammatical
errors, passive voice, and changed my sentence structure. For this essay, I believe AP Lang gave
me an advantage at analyzing articles, but I still had to put in a lot of hard work. For these
articles, I printed out the ones I knew I was going to use in my paper so I could annotate them
better and have an easier access to

Reflective Essay: The Progress Of My Writing
The progress of my writing has consisted of overcoming struggles as well as enhancing my strengths.
Some in which will include style, organization, evidence, focused topic, etc. Undoubtedly, there are
numerous elements of writing to establish a clear statement regarding the topic discussed. Elements
that I have been focused on and implemented are the introductions that describe an overview of the
topic along.
Furthermore, some components that I consider while I'm beginning to write an essay or report is to
always look for evidence that the author presents throughout his argument. It's important to point
out their evidence to either support or a rebuttal and thoughts of your own. Overall, I focus on
creating a quick and simple introduction towards the text I am referring to and assemble a thesis as
well as a cliffhanger to keep the audience engaged. Likewise, I also include is transitions to form
my claims and ideas be associated with each other.
In addition, the organization is also something that I have improved on to have a concrete order to
cite a quote, the perspective of the author's claim, and show evidence or support. When using I need
to keep a reminder, that it's best if transitions are used for topic sentences and wrapping up the
evidence given previously to close out the last paragraph sentence. In...show more content...
For instance, sentence structure, using the word "I" in formal writing, and punctuation mistakes.
Ultimately, I lack of sentence structure because I have an idea of what is needed to talk about, but I
can't properly put it in a clear way for it to relate back to the text. Therefore, I don't put much
attention to the punctuation since I'm struggling to generate a clear argument. A common mistake I
tend to do is trying to implement that it's my own point of view or perspective, going off of the
quote. To which results in adding the word "I" throughout the essay without

English class has never been my strong suite. I always had to work twice as hard in English then
I did in any other class. Writing paper always had me stressed and overwhelmed, I felt
discouraged in my work. l never seemed to be able to get to the level I wanted to. I would try my
hardest and paid attention in class, but when it came to writing the paper none of that seemed to
help. I think that my experience in English Composition 1 has helped gain and grow in some areas,
but I don't think that it highlights a well–written college essay. Some elements that I worked to
improving was introduction paragraphs, tone, style, and thesis statements. Throughout my
experience in English 101, I gained information on the element...show more content...
During high school, I seemed to get marked done for the tone used in my paper. I learned in this
class that tone is a very important element in writing a paper, and can help the paper flow better.
My sentences in my high school papers didn't vary in length very well then. I always had a
problem with short choppy sentences. When writing my profile essay, research easy, and
personal essay I tried to make sure I had a variety of sentence lengths. I feel I gained some
improve on this element, I know I still have issues but I have grown from where I was before.
Some papers were stronger than others and I struggled a bit more when constructing my
paragraphs. My strongest paper in tone I would feel was my Personal essay. "She wants them to

mother, it's important to work with your kids and help them discover how they learn best. It's
important to teach your kids that there are going to be certain things that they have to be willing
to work harder at" (Profile Essay). During my essay writing process, I could fix these problems
easier in the body paragraphs and struggle a bit more with the intro paragraph. Overall I think that
the element of tone was not my best work in my

English 101 Reflective Essay
English 101 has been such an adventure. I know that sounds corny, but I just couldn't help myself.
When I decided to do a short–term English class, I thought it would be fun and challenging; My
expectations were correct. As I write this reflection, I look back on the topics and assignments that
existed in this short period of time from post 1 to the multi–modal project. I will list the challenges I
experienced which creating the creative project, what I learned from the beginning of class to the
end, and what I need to work on in the future. This English adventure started on post 1 and 2 and
ended at the multi–modal project. When I first did post 1 and 2 ,I was excited because we were
incorporating fallacies to our discussions. I previously learned more about fallacies and ethos,
pathos, and logos from a previous communications course and I appreciated the review. I found
that it was challenging to respond properly to posts created by other classmates. My initial
response was always to support each and every classmate by telling them that they did an awesome
job. I had trouble analyzing their work without agreeing with every claim. The multi model project
brought tears to my eyes and I do not mean tears of joy. At first I loved my ideas and was excited
about the outcome, but my stress and nervousness...show more content...

COMM101 Reflective Paper– My top 10 takeaways from COMM101
Coming into UBC I had no idea of what to expect from the capstone course of Sauder. On the first
day, Jeff said that everything would connect in the end; I didn't realize how true that is until now. He
meant that every bit and piece in the course was literally interconnected with not just class concepts
but to the entire business world. Throughout the term, I not only learned about business
fundamentals, but life and people skills as well. Presenting ideas, pitching, teamwork and just
making an argument in general were simple yet essential skills that I picked up and refined.
Getting a feel for all the different disciplines Sauder has to offer was a given, but processing those
soft kills were my biggest takeaway yet. Honestly speaking, coming into Sauder, I was sure about
business as a career. However, I always had an interest in political science at the back of my mind.
Leaving this course, I now know that a career in both is something definitely achievable. With the
numerous guest speakers as well as the US election that happened simultaneously throughout the
term I learned that business and politics could be blended into a diverse field of opportunities; given
that I put in more than I expect and work hard.
TOOLKIT
Building my business toolkit throughout the term was fascinating. I was initially skeptical that the
toolkit we learned in class could be applicable to businesses of all sizes, from real corporations

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your
mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The
truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in
the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can
explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses.
Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before
taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and
unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I
struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to
the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class
that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the
whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for
navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I
have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in
English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

Reflective Essay On Community Activities
1. MRC Community Participation The opportunities for community building within MRC are
abundant and seem to never end. This chance to connect, build, and maintain relationships with
fellow peers interested in research and a community is a priceless experience that is very unique
to MRC. In just a few short months, I have actively aimed to attend every event that was offered,
soaking in all of the opportunities that MRC has to offer. While I haven't made it to every event,
I do try my best to find time for my community. Firstly, my favorite event that MRC hosts is MRC
tea time, for this is a great way to meet MRC alumni, converse with the wonderful staff, and share
stories with friends from the fourth and fifth floors, all while drinking warm tea! I truly love this
event and I met one of my great friends there, Milan, and a helpful mentor, Maddie! Because
picking favorite MRC events feels like picking my favorite family members, I am now just going
to list some of the amazing events I have been to. The creativity within MRC is absolutely
astonishing! This is evident by all of the fun events planned by our own members. I have been to an
event for building zen gardens, and solving a murder case, and a game night where there was a
karaoke machine. I have watched La La Land with fourth floor middle Jo and popped my stress
away with Crystal and her floor. STEPS encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone. Community

Reflection In Tourism
In this essay, the importance of self–reflection in the tourism industry will be presented, which will
explain the skills needed to develop people in various sectors related to tourism as well as explain
several factors that affect the performance of teams and the tourism industry. To conclude the essay,
a summary conclusion will be given on the identification of postgraduate attributes that require
further development in order to develop others more effectively when working in the Tourism area.
Over the years, the importance of self–reflection has grown, since it has been shown as a useful tool
to improve the qualities and abilities of each person. In this regard, self–reflection is an important
process of learning and self–awareness where we discover our strengths, weaknesses and strongest
competencies that will later help us make better decisions. According to Moon (2008) "Reflection, a
technique for aiding and reinforcing learning is a powerful tool in professional development and a
wide range of other learning situations and environments (...) Generally, we reflect for a purpose,

Humanities 101 Reflective Essay
Eh, there ain't much to say when it comes to the likes of me. Name's Todd Rexroth II, 19, and I'm
the eldest of 9. I graduated from SciTech High and soon after came to HACC. I'm here at HACC to
find out what I want to do with my life. So with that out of the way, let's begin.
To begin, I'll talk about a bit of my experience at HACC. The only writing class I've had prior to this
is English 051, in which I earned a C. Not necessarily for my skill of writing, but for not following
all the steps of the writing process. Fortunately, this is only my second semester so I can mask that
grade by getting better ones. Along the way I hope to finally find a major I want to pursue and stop
doing general studies. Which is part of the reason I decided to take Humanities 101 to see...show

I don't really have a specific genre of music I listen to and instead just listen to whatever sounds good
hittin' my ears. My music recommendation gotta be an artist that went by Nujabes. He specializes in
making beats, but sometimes teams up with other artists making some absolutely mint tunes. I, of
course, do have pictures of myself at home. Though, they're not the most recent. As for hobbies I'm
into gaming, PC building, and, when I have the time, reading. When I can afford the money and time
I plan on expanding this list.
Finally, I want to end with what my ultimate goal is when I find a career. Well, first I want to find
a career I'm content with doing. I don't need to love it, but something I won't blow my brains out
for down the line. After I choose the career and find a job, I'll make sure I budget my money
wisely as to better my chances of living relatively comfortable. Then, finally, do what I love as a
hobby. At least, that's the initial plan so far.
In the end, I'm a simple guy just trying to find a career I can stomach for 40+ years. I do hope this

This is a short report on my progress in your course based on my stated goals from the week 1
introductory assignment. I stated in my introductory to the class that I wanted to gain knowledge
and skills in business writing.
My progress in the first 4 weeks of the course was very good. I scored really well on quizzes and
completed two major writing assignments. I did very well on the email assignment; I only had a
few errors; my use of upper and lower case letters. I learned about the 4 keys to effective writing.
The 4 keys being: Who (identifying your audience), why (your purpose for writing), what
(formulating your message) and how (choosing your style and tone). I gained a better understanding
to what writing is and is not. Writing takes

Reflective Essay On Reading And Writing
It was my second grade year and I was only 7 years old when I first found my hatred for anything
that had to do with reading or writing. Every week my teacher would give us a lengthy list of
vocabulary words that we had to memorize before our spelling test the following week. I would
study for periods at a time trying to memorize these gruesome lists of words that I could never
remember. When it came down to the day of the test I would see all my classmates at ease while I
would panic trying to remember what I studied. When it finally came time to take the test I hear
the teacher call the word "island" but the only thing I could hear was noise In a room full of
silence. I was frustrated I couldn't think, the teacher would ask is everyone ready to move on and
I wouldn't say anything because I was too shy. After a couple of days I would get my score back
and would not be surprised when I found out that I had failed the test. Week after week this became
a recurring theme when I got back my spelling test. Following this experience I accepted the fact that
reading and writing was just (not my thing).
Although my second grade experience was terrible, my third grade year gave me an experience
that I never had with literacy. My teacher would give us a list of words, but instead of us just
having to memorize them. We would have to create a story using these words. This opened my
eyes to a part of literacy that I was never familiar with. I had total creative freedom, ( and I took it

Example Of Reflection In Literature
In the span of this course, I have learned a great deal about myself in terms of literature. This
course has enabled me to make many great strides in my writing by exemplifying the works of
authors and their literary devices. English 1102 has broadened my literary horizon by showing me
more elegant ways to express my opinion. I am remorseful towards the fact that I did not take the
class in person. Inversely, I have learned better ways to communicate towards the audience, through
the use of various literary elements in lieu of going on tangents. In regards to taking English 1102,
I feel as though I am on the precipitous of progress through the use of parallel structure and diction
as a way of getting my point across, as well as using poetic styles from famous authors such as
Charlotte Gilman to better express my thoughts and ideas. On the other hand, not being able to take
the class in person has disabled me in a sense of not being able to garner a better sense of grammar
and punctuation. Furthermore, through the assignments that I have completed, I have mastered the
use of consistency which spurred on a more fluid line of communication with the readers through the
use of efficiently utilizing parallel structure and diction, instead of jumping from topic to topic. The
need to spew all perspectives originates from my predisposition of compacting conflicting opinions
on one paper. Notably, employing parallel structure has brightened up my writing tremendously. For

Reflection On Ethics And Ethics
"Great individuals have great ethics and great values." Ethics and morality can be used
interchangeably as they sound as if they mean the same although there is a wide distinction between
them. "Strictly speaking, morality is used to refer to what we would call moral standards and moral
conduct while ethics is used to refer to the formal study of those standards and conduct. For this
reason, the study of ethics is also often called moral philosophy." (Gordana D 2007)
Morality comes first which constitutes of our beliefs and practices on what is right and wrong
while ethics comes next which is a reflection on the moral principles by our conscience. Morality is

As rebellious as youngsters are, such fights could get out of hand. After studying about the
normative theories I realised that while making decisions about who should be removed, which
show to perform in etc. the main thing that I think of is what is going to benefit more number of
people the most. If I chose to remove a particular person, it brought them grief and guilt on my
behalf in the short term but in the long term, the level of performance rose leaving the crew,
judges and the audience happy. Also, sometimes we had to choose on which show to perform and
which not to. In this case we would select the show which gave us more exposure because it offers
us greater benefit opposed to a show at a smaller level. Thus, in this way the theory of utilitarianism

Composing poetry is an artistic expression; subsequently it's a way of conveying everything that
needs to be conveyed and finding importance in expressions. Through poetry words are illuminated
to form a picture, express feeling and share a thought in so few words. Putting down on paper all
the emotions going through ones head is a way of re–living and remembering the overwhelming
emotions they grapple with throughout their lives. Poet Michelle Williams states that: ".... humans

This stanza returns to the solitude of the lonely wondering cloud. However, the poet has been
changed by his imaginative experience involving the daffodils and the accompanying bay waters.
Loneliness is now a peaceful solitude. William Wordsworth describes himself as alone and lonely,
detached even from nature. Wordsworth feeling of sadness emerges from this poem.
In Conclusion, poets William Wordsworth, Percy Shelley and William Blake show how poetry
displays the importance of human ability to convey emotions and say what they feel. Therefore the
quote by poet Michelle Williams is true. In poets William Wordsworth "Preface" to Lyrical ballads,
he describes poetic process as follow:
"Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feeling: it takes its origin from emotion recollected
in tranquility.
Thus through poetry the opportunity to recreate and relive the previously experienced emotion is

articles and pieces to get the meaning of the topic. With that improved skill I was more able to

be. Even with the revisions Mr. Heldenfels made in the draft, I still made mistakes with mechanics
and tense shits. I had written comma splice and has several spelling mistakes. I looked to improve
my mechanics after writing this essay.

I used provided different information, some provided more than others, but all sources were
needed to complete the essay. In collecting all the information for the essay, I had to research who

Reflective Essay on Improving Writing Skills

  • 1. Reflective Essay On English 101 Proficient writing is an essential skill in all aspects of academic and professional achievement. English 101, Introduction to Composition and Rhetoric, provided the framework to good writing, teaching me composition and rhetoric fundamentals, polishing up my grammar and style, and expressing a clear message. English 102, Composition, Rhetoric, and Research, continued to build on the skills I learned in English 101, focusing on the subject matter research process and employing various rhetorical and literary devices to better express a clear message to the reader. The course also improved my critical thinking capacity, allowing me to culturally evaluate my target audience, present logically flowing arguments using appropriate language and structure, and critically reviewing my writing projects for content and expression. Every writer inherently knows there's always room to improve and I hold fast to this mindset in all academic, professional, and personal writing projects. English 102 has both challenged and inspired me to grow into a much better writer than before I began the class, providing the necessary skills to be not just a good writer, but a great writer. Most of my English 102 writing projects are rhetorical arguments, intended to persuade the reader in one direction or another. Reflecting on the many skills I honed in English 102, my predetermined use of rhetorical strategies (ethos, logos, pathos), developing a concise thesis statement, and clearly defining Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. English Composition Reflective Essay English composition has taught me everything I know now, from how to effectively write a thesis to grammatically fix my essay. This class fixed my writing skills to speak and write incorrect terms. English composition gave me the edge I need to take my writing skills to next level. This class has helped me understand the importance of documentation in a research skill. English composition showed me that sources either make or break your essay. The true honesty of this course was that I am glad I took it. At first, I hate this class so much, because this class required so much extra work to be done, but over time I realized that the extra work really pushes you over the edge to make your essay great. The extra work justifies your essay and molds Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. During this class, the challenge of writing and reading many essays have definitely improve my writing. There are so many details that need to be considered when crafting a paper. The grammar, neatness, relevance of the content, and the paper formatting are key aspects of the quality of writing. In the essay it was fairly simple to describe my surroundings, the sound, smell and general structure. When I started thinking of all the things I remembered from my experience in the ocean, I was able to make a gigantic list of details that I wanted to include in my essay, and I had to do some editing in order to fit the project guidelines. I wanted to convey how powerful and moving that experience was for me. I also wanted it to have a lot of vivid Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Reflective Essay Reflection Writing overall has never been my strong suit during my years of education, but this year I feel like I grew as a writer and improved. English has never been one of my easier classes, but I still put in the same amount of work that I do for my other classes. I know that compared to most students, I have a really strong work ethic. With essays, I never waited until the last moment to write the whole thing. For every essay, I planned my time wisely and split up for myself parts of the essay and when I should have them done by. Additionally, this year I tried much more to revise my essay and reread over it to improve it. Overall, my effort for writing essays was very good, but some of my essays could have been focused more and not drift away from the prompt. The rhetorical analysis was definitely the essay that I am most proud of. Rhetorical analysis were basically the only essays that I did last year in AP Lang, but I got a C on almost everyone. Although this essay was my strongest, I think I could have tried more to fix grammatical errors and sentence structure. In my revision, I fixed a body paragraph and in that body paragraph I got rid of grammatical errors, passive voice, and changed my sentence structure. For this essay, I believe AP Lang gave me an advantage at analyzing articles, but I still had to put in a lot of hard work. For these articles, I printed out the ones I knew I was going to use in my paper so I could annotate them better and have an easier access to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Reflective Essay: The Progress Of My Writing The progress of my writing has consisted of overcoming struggles as well as enhancing my strengths. Some in which will include style, organization, evidence, focused topic, etc. Undoubtedly, there are numerous elements of writing to establish a clear statement regarding the topic discussed. Elements that I have been focused on and implemented are the introductions that describe an overview of the topic along. Furthermore, some components that I consider while I'm beginning to write an essay or report is to always look for evidence that the author presents throughout his argument. It's important to point out their evidence to either support or a rebuttal and thoughts of your own. Overall, I focus on creating a quick and simple introduction towards the text I am referring to and assemble a thesis as well as a cliffhanger to keep the audience engaged. Likewise, I also include is transitions to form my claims and ideas be associated with each other. In addition, the organization is also something that I have improved on to have a concrete order to cite a quote, the perspective of the author's claim, and show evidence or support. When using I need to keep a reminder, that it's best if transitions are used for topic sentences and wrapping up the evidence given previously to close out the last paragraph sentence. Ultimately, I lack of sentence structure because I have an idea of what is needed to talk about, but I can't properly put it in a clear way for it to relate back to the text. Therefore, I don't put much attention to the punctuation since I'm struggling to generate a clear argument. A common mistake I tend to do is trying to implement that it's my own point of view or perspective, going off of the quote. To which results in adding the word "I" throughout the essay without Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. English 101 Reflective Essay English class has never been my strong suite. I always had to work twice as hard in English then I did in any other class. Writing paper always had me stressed and overwhelmed, I felt discouraged in my work. l never seemed to be able to get to the level I wanted to. I would try my hardest and paid attention in class, but when it came to writing the paper none of that seemed to help. I think that my experience in English Composition 1 has helped gain and grow in some areas, but I don't think that it highlights a well–written college essay. Some elements that I worked to improving was introduction paragraphs, tone, style, and thesis statements. Throughout my experience in English 101, I gained information on the element...show more content... During high school, I seemed to get marked done for the tone used in my paper. I learned in this class that tone is a very important element in writing a paper, and can help the paper flow better. My sentences in my high school papers didn't vary in length very well then. I always had a problem with short choppy sentences. When writing my profile essay, research easy, and personal essay I tried to make sure I had a variety of sentence lengths. I feel I gained some improve on this element, I know I still have issues but I have grown from where I was before. Some papers were stronger than others and I struggled a bit more when constructing my paragraphs. My strongest paper in tone I would feel was my Personal essay. "She wants them to believe they can do whatever their hearts desire but they have to be willing to work for it. As a mother, it's important to work with your kids and help them discover how they learn best. It's important to teach your kids that there are going to be certain things that they have to be willing to work harder at" (Profile Essay). During my essay writing process, I could fix these problems easier in the body paragraphs and struggle a bit more with the intro paragraph. • 7. English 101 Reflective Essay English 101 has been such an adventure. I know that sounds corny, but I just couldn't help myself. When I decided to do a short–term English class, I thought it would be fun and challenging; My expectations were correct. As I write this reflection, I look back on the topics and assignments that existed in this short period of time from post 1 to the multi–modal project. I will list the challenges I experienced which creating the creative project, what I learned from the beginning of class to the end, and what I need to work on in the future. This English adventure started on post 1 and 2 and ended at the multi–modal project. When I first did post 1 and 2 ,I was excited because we were incorporating fallacies to our discussions. I previously learned more about fallacies and ethos, pathos, and logos from a previous communications course and I appreciated the review. I found that it was challenging to respond properly to posts created by other classmates. My initial response was always to support each and every classmate by telling them that they did an awesome job. I had trouble analyzing their work without agreeing with every claim. The multi model project brought tears to my eyes and I do not mean tears of joy. At first I loved my ideas and was excited about the outcome, but my stress and nervousness...show more content... • 8. COMM101 Reflective Paper– My top 10 takeaways from COMM101 Coming into UBC I had no idea of what to expect from the capstone course of Sauder. On the first day, Jeff said that everything would connect in the end; I didn't realize how true that is until now. He meant that every bit and piece in the course was literally interconnected with not just class concepts but to the entire business world. Throughout the term, I not only learned about business fundamentals, but life and people skills as well. Presenting ideas, pitching, teamwork and just making an argument in general were simple yet essential skills that I picked up and refined. Getting a feel for all the different disciplines Sauder has to offer was a given, but processing those soft kills were my biggest takeaway yet. Honestly speaking, coming into Sauder, I was sure about business as a career. However, I always had an interest in political science at the back of my mind. Leaving this course, I now know that a career in both is something definitely achievable. With the numerous guest speakers as well as the US election that happened simultaneously throughout the term I learned that business and politics could be blended into a diverse field of opportunities; given that I put in more than I expect and work hard. TOOLKIT Building my business toolkit throughout the term was fascinating. I was initially skeptical that the toolkit we learned in class could be applicable to businesses of all sizes, from real corporations Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Reflective Essay On Community Activities 1. MRC Community Participation The opportunities for community building within MRC are abundant and seem to never end. This chance to connect, build, and maintain relationships with fellow peers interested in research and a community is a priceless experience that is very unique to MRC. In just a few short months, I have actively aimed to attend every event that was offered, soaking in all of the opportunities that MRC has to offer. While I haven't made it to every event, I do try my best to find time for my community. Firstly, my favorite event that MRC hosts is MRC tea time, for this is a great way to meet MRC alumni, converse with the wonderful staff, and share stories with friends from the fourth and fifth floors, all while drinking warm tea! I truly love this event and I met one of my great friends there, Milan, and a helpful mentor, Maddie! Because picking favorite MRC events feels like picking my favorite family members, I am now just going to list some of the amazing events I have been to. The creativity within MRC is absolutely astonishing! This is evident by all of the fun events planned by our own members. I have been to an event for building zen gardens, and solving a murder case, and a game night where there was a karaoke machine. I have watched La La Land with fourth floor middle Jo and popped my stress away with Crystal and her floor. STEPS encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone. • 11. Reflection In Tourism In this essay, the importance of self–reflection in the tourism industry will be presented, which will explain the skills needed to develop people in various sectors related to tourism as well as explain several factors that affect the performance of teams and the tourism industry. To conclude the essay, a summary conclusion will be given on the identification of postgraduate attributes that require further development in order to develop others more effectively when working in the Tourism area. Over the years, the importance of self–reflection has grown, since it has been shown as a useful tool to improve the qualities and abilities of each person. In this regard, self–reflection is an important process of learning and self–awareness where we discover our strengths, weaknesses and strongest competencies that will later help us make better decisions. According to Moon (2008) "Reflection, a technique for aiding and reinforcing learning is a powerful tool in professional development and a wide range of other learning situations and environments (...) • 12. Humanities 101 Reflective Essay Eh, there ain't much to say when it comes to the likes of me. Name's Todd Rexroth II, 19, and I'm the eldest of 9. I graduated from SciTech High and soon after came to HACC. I'm here at HACC to find out what I want to do with my life. So with that out of the way, let's begin. To begin, I'll talk about a bit of my experience at HACC. The only writing class I've had prior to this is English 051, in which I earned a C. Not necessarily for my skill of writing, but for not following all the steps of the writing process. Fortunately, this is only my second semester so I can mask that grade by getting better ones. Along the way I hope to finally find a major I want to pursue and stop doing general studies. Which is part of the reason I decided to take Humanities 101 to see...show more content... I don't really have a specific genre of music I listen to and instead just listen to whatever sounds good hittin' my ears. My music recommendation gotta be an artist that went by Nujabes. He specializes in making beats, but sometimes teams up with other artists making some absolutely mint tunes. I, of course, do have pictures of myself at home. Though, they're not the most recent. As for hobbies I'm into gaming, PC building, and, when I have the time, reading. When I can afford the money and time I plan on expanding this list. Finally, I want to end with what my ultimate goal is when I find a career. Well, first I want to find a career I'm content with doing. I don't need to love it, but something I won't blow my brains out for down the line. After I choose the career and find a job, I'll make sure I budget my money wisely as to better my chances of living relatively comfortable. Then, finally, do what I love as a hobby. At least, that's the initial plan so far. In the end, I'm a simple guy just trying to find a career I can stomach for 40+ years. I stated in my introductory to the class that I wanted to gain knowledge and skills in business writing. My progress in the first 4 weeks of the course was very good. I scored really well on quizzes and completed two major writing assignments. I did very well on the email assignment; I only had a few errors; my use of upper and lower case letters. I learned about the 4 keys to effective writing. The 4 keys being: Who (identifying your audience), why (your purpose for writing), what (formulating your message) and how (choosing your style and tone). I gained a better understanding to what writing is and is not. Writing takes Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Reflective Essay On Reading And Writing It was my second grade year and I was only 7 years old when I first found my hatred for anything that had to do with reading or writing. Every week my teacher would give us a lengthy list of vocabulary words that we had to memorize before our spelling test the following week. I would study for periods at a time trying to memorize these gruesome lists of words that I could never remember. When it came down to the day of the test I would see all my classmates at ease while I would panic trying to remember what I studied. When it finally came time to take the test I hear the teacher call the word "island" but the only thing I could hear was noise In a room full of silence. I was frustrated I couldn't think, the teacher would ask is everyone ready to move on and I wouldn't say anything because I was too shy. After a couple of days I would get my score back and would not be surprised when I found out that I had failed the test. Week after week this became a recurring theme when I got back my spelling test. Following this experience I accepted the fact that reading and writing was just (not my thing). Although my second grade experience was terrible, my third grade year gave me an experience that I never had with literacy. My teacher would give us a list of words, but instead of us just having to memorize them. We would have to create a story using these words. This opened my eyes to a part of literacy that I was never familiar with. I had total creative freedom, ( and I took it Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 16. Example Of Reflection In Literature In the span of this course, I have learned a great deal about myself in terms of literature. This course has enabled me to make many great strides in my writing by exemplifying the works of authors and their literary devices. English 1102 has broadened my literary horizon by showing me more elegant ways to express my opinion. I am remorseful towards the fact that I did not take the class in person. Inversely, I have learned better ways to communicate towards the audience, through the use of various literary elements in lieu of going on tangents. In regards to taking English 1102, I feel as though I am on the precipitous of progress through the use of parallel structure and diction as a way of getting my point across, as well as using poetic styles from famous authors such as Charlotte Gilman to better express my thoughts and ideas. On the other hand, not being able to take the class in person has disabled me in a sense of not being able to garner a better sense of grammar and punctuation. Furthermore, through the assignments that I have completed, I have mastered the use of consistency which spurred on a more fluid line of communication with the readers through the use of efficiently utilizing parallel structure and diction, instead of jumping from topic to topic. The need to spew all perspectives originates from my predisposition of compacting conflicting opinions on one paper. Notably, employing parallel structure has brightened up my writing tremendously.
