 Cancer drives form Greek words carcinos and carcinoma
 Carcinos and carcinoma describe the tumors
 Cancer called "karkinos.
 Cancer refers to the uncontrolled growth of
abnormal cells in the body.
 Complex group of diseases
 It begin from any part of body.
 Made up of trillions of cells.
Cancer Cells Normal Cells

 In ancient Egypt in 1500 BC world's oldest recorded case of
cancer .
 At that time eight cases of tumors brought
 Treated with cauterization (destroyed tissue with a hot
instrument called "the fire drill." )
 At that time considered that there was no treatment for the
disease only palliative treatment.
 It is a genetic disease
 Caused by changes to genes because
 Error occur in cell division
 Damage DNA
 Inherited from parents.
 It spread such ways
1. Spread from the place where it first formed to another place
in the body is called metastatic cancer.
2. The process by which cancer cells spread to other parts of
the body is called metastasis.
 These are most common causes of cancer such as
1) Smoking and tobacco
2) Diet
3) Physical activity
4) Sun and other types of radiation
5) Viruses and other infections
 These are more common symptoms such s
 Fatigue
 Indigestion
 Pain
 Weight loss without trying
 Fever
 Pain with intercourse
 Constipation
 Changes in your skin
 Bloating
 Sores that don’t heal
 Pelvic or abdominal pain
 Cough
 Difficulty eating or feeling full quickly
 Unusual bleeding
 Urinary symptoms (urgency or frequency)
 Anemia
 Trouble
 These are most considerable preventable of cancers such as
1) Environmental factors
2) Hereditary
3) Poor diet,
4) Lack of physical activity,
5) Alcohol consumption,
6) Smoking
7) Obesity
 There are more than 100 types of cancer. These are most common
types of cancer
 Carcinoma ( formed by epithelial. Any malignant tumor derived
from epithelial tissue; one of the four major types of cancer.
 Sarcoma
 Sarcoma occur in bone and soft tissues, muscle, fat, blood
vessels, lymph vessels, and fibrous tissue .
 Leukemia
 It begin in the blood-forming tissue of the bone marrow . it do not
form solid tumors.
 Lymphoma
 It begins in lymphocytes (t cells or b cells).
 Multiple myeloma
 It begins in plasma cells, another type of immune cell.
 Melanoma
 It begins in cells that become melanocytes.
 These are more common treatment of cancer such as
a) Surgery,
b) Chemotherapy
c) radiation therapy
d) interventional radiology
e) Immunotherapy
