2. What is Mind Mapping?
• It is a creative and logical means of note-taking and
note-making that literally "maps out" your ideas.
• It has a natural organizational structure that radiates
from the center and uses lines, symbols, words, color
and images according to simple, brain-friendly concepts
• It is a graphical way to represent ideas and concepts. It is
a visual thinking tool that helps structuring information,
helping you to better analyze, comprehend, synthesize,
recall and generate new ideas.
• Graphically represented data(flow chart, tree diagram,
pie charts etc.) is easy & quick to comprehend as
compared to conventional notes or paragraphs.
3. Uses of Mind Mapping
• Brainstorming (individually or in groups)
• Summarizing information, and note taking.
• Thinking through complex problems.
• Presenting information in a format that shows the
overall structure of your subject.

• Researching and consolidating information from
multiple sources

4. Using Mind Maps Effectively
• Use Single Words or Simple Phrases
• Use Color to Separate Different Ideas
• Use Symbols and Images: they act as mnemonics
• Print words & ensure that various chunks of
information are placed neatly.
• A good Mind Map shows the "shape" of the subject,
the relative importance of individual points, and the
