NORTH AMERICA
Project CityCentre in Las Vegas, Nevada is a
$7.8 billion project that is a mixed-use 76-
acre (1,560,500 m²) complex, currently under
construction by MGM Mirage. Its modern
urban design by Ehrenkrantz Eckstut and Kuhn
Architects will feature multiple high-rise buildings
as well as its own retail and entertainment district
and convention centre, scheduled to open in late
2009.

MIDDLE EAST included an educational seminar on “Improving Concrete Durability
through the use of Crystalline Waterproofing admixtures”. The increasing
popularity of concrete waterproofing using crystalline admixtures
attracted the attention of several Gulf industry publications, such as Arab
Construction World, Gulf Construction, the Gulf Times Newspaper and
Construction World Gulf to feature Krystol® products and projects.
An example illustrating the importance of below-grade waterproofing
can be seen in the recent completion of the Al Mashfa Private Hospital in
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. By using Kryton’s integral crystalline waterproofing,
the developer was able to overcome unexpected challenges, such as the
underground lake encountered during excavation. (full story on page 18)

certified by the Dubai Municipality. The certificate states that Kryton’s KIM®-HS
admixture may be used without the requirement for additional membranes or other
waterproofing systems. It certifies that KIM®-HS is suitable for use in potable water
and is effective for waterproofing concrete.

7. RegionalReport
The Marina Bay Sands is Singapore’s first casino, being
ASIA PACIFIC developed by Las Vegas Sands. In addition to the casino, other
key components include three hotel towers consisting of 2,500
rooms and a rooftop parking lot, a science museum, retail and
entertainment plazas. Kryton’s KIM® admixture will be used in
the hotel blocks to waterproof the below-grade foundation and
provide a permanent, application-free solution.
This past summer, Kryton held its first annual Asia Pacific
Distributor Retreat in sunny Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. The
exotic getaway created an opportunity for the Kryton team and
partners to share their experiences and expertise in the crystalline
waterproofing market, as well as training and team-building
exercises to further encourage “By Your Side” service and support.
