Uses of Cocoon 111 in the Industrial World.
One of the founding uses of Cocoon was to encapsulate our military hardware upon return from the
war theatre. Today, Cocoon is the safe, predictable alternative to heat applied shrink wrapping.
Construction, Shipping, Marine Industry and any other precious cargo can be safely protected and
preserved with Andek Cocoon 111. Cocoon is most importantly a non-permeable non-flammable non-
contributory PVC based spray able compound.
I am available at any time to discuss the amazing uses of this compound. As you cansurmise, I am
excited about the uses of this unique formulation.

The Cocoon Story - The Beginning, the reality, the possibilities!
At the end of World War I in November of 1918 The U.S. military complexbegan
to come home. Warships, tanks and airplanes sat in storage. While inhindsight
technological advances would have made most of the equipment obsolete, what
was startling was the abject deterioration of the hardware.
Beginning in 1931 after Japanese aggression towards China, the United States
military complex began to rebuild. Between 1931 and 1939 a small majority ofthe
military complex was manufactured. With the bombing of Pearl Harboron
December 7, 1941 the Unites States went into hyper manufacturing ofarmament.
However, a lesson was learned. We needed to preserve the immenseinvestment
in the military complex. A compound was developed that we now knowas
Cocoon.
Cocoon is an extraordinary, liquid polymer coating that sprayscobweb-like
filaments that form a tough, waterproof, flexible, monolithic membrane thatwill
conform to any surface.
Cocoon coatings form a monolithic seal highly resistant to impact andabrasion.
Cocoon will maintain its integrity despite movement at pipe andduct
penetrations or expansion and contraction between walls and ceilings.Anywhere
there is an artifact that needs preserving, any structure that needs waterproof,
weatherproof , environmental adjutant protective sealing could all be cost
effectively and easily sealed and protected using ~ Cocoon.
In summary, when War broke out along the 38th parallel bisecting Korea onJune
25, 1950. The United States was able to "unwrap" all of the hardware thathad
been preserved with Cocoon. This afforded the United States and immensehead
start on war preparation and immeasurable cost savings.
Andek Corporation obtained the rights to Cocoon in 1973 and we are proudto
bring this amazing compound to the ever expanding U.S. marketplace in needof
innovative solutions.

GREEN TECHNOLOGY PRESS RELEASE
Green Technology inConstruction Waterproofing
Better livingthrough green chemistry has been integrated into every aspect of Andek
Corporation's approach to problem-solving, material selection, product design, and distribution
operations since the 1970's. The principle of using low toxicity materials began when most
waterproof coatings manufacturers were using asbestos, lead, mercury, and many toxic chemicals
as ingredients. Andek Corporation implemented "green chemistry" guidelines in formulation
design as part of a corporate culture to integrate sustainable technology with environmental
responsibility.
Waterproof coatings in their earliest forms hadvery high volatile organic compound (V.O.C.)
contents. This often consisted of the majority of the volume of the product and wasessential
to get the coating to a viscosity low enough for application. Andek Corporation realized that
incorporating vast quantities of ingredients designed to be released into the air was notjust
unhealthy but was wasteful. The goal of formulating high solids, low emission products was
tied to the concept that, just as trees emit turpentine, isoprene, and other volatile organic
compounds into the air, a waterproof coating should emit no more V.O.C.s than a tree during
its lifetime.
Durabilityis,of course, oneof the most important ingredientsofsustainability. This iscentral
to the core of green chemistry. Andek Corporation has utilized polymeric technology that
incorporates hydrophobic moleculardesign intoa stable geometry that anchors intoa sub
strate through crosslinking. Thisisthe processthat was first discovered byaddingsulfur to
natural rubber latexto makevery effectivewaterproof clothing. Thisessential durability
prevents waste by increasing the lifespan of the product to extend the period of protection of
the substrate.
Energy conservation is an important function of any construction material. Every effort has
been made by Andek Corporation to formulate products that control energy transmission
through the building envelope. Some of these products reflect heat by either reflection or
reduce thermal shock by endothermic reaction. Also important is the use of low energy
demand manufacturing processes to reduce the carbon footprint of production.
Efficient distribution of material using local sources of supply is essential to maintain the
sustainability of any operation. Knowledge of local building styles and codes, together with
climatic and environmental considerations, is extremely important. Andek Corporation has
built a network of technica l field representatives that can offer specialized advice through their
extensive knowledge of both their area of expertise and familiarity with specifications for the
use of Andek products. Many people rely on the insight and innovation of this team to provide
durable, long-lasting waterproofing products using sensible green technology. Andek
Corporation is fully committed to incorporatinggreen chemistry into allresearch and
development, creating breakthrough products of the future for construction waterproofing and
building preservation.

The amazing sprayable
polymer coating that protects,
seals and waterproofs
Cocoon coatings have their origin immediately following the
Second World War. Millions of square meters of United States
Naval warships and airplanes were successfully coated and
“mothballed” with Cocoon for future use.
Through continuous research & development, Cocoon’s
permanent waterproofing, gas seal and protective qualities
have been enhanced and refined.
COCOON is a revolutionary, high-quality, sprayable liquid
polymer coating. No other product has Cocoon’s unique
qualities. It sprays a cobweb-like filament that forms a
permanent, tough, seamless, waterproof, very durable coating
that can be applied to almost all materials. Cocoon creates a
waterproof and vapor-proof barrier that is able to stretch 2.5
times the original size, and return to its original form.
Cocoon Protects
• Tough, very durable, weatherproof, seamless coating that is highly
resistant to impact and abrasion.
• Sunlight, rain, wind and marine atmospheres have minimal effect on
Cocoon. Provides a very high UV-resistance barrier.
• Resists all forms of corrosion and prevents surface deterioration
caused by acids, fats, salt solutions, alcohol, greases and fungi, and
most industrial chemicals.
• Resistant at ambient temperatures to most strengths of common
alkalies or mineral acids.
• Cocoon can stretch to 2.5 times its original size, and return to its
original form. The extreme elasticity of Cocoon permits the coating to
stretch and shrink with changing temperatures, and assures that the
coating is not damaged or torn.
• Will not support combustion. When exposed to a flame, Cocoon will not
ignite and will protect combustible substrates from the spread of flames.
Cocoon Seals and Waterproofs
• Cocoon has the unique ability to bridge openingsaround
penetrations of any size or shape.
• Forms a waterproof and vapor-proof barrier in both low and high
temperature environments. Water vapor transmission isvirtually
zero.
• Can be applied to interior and exterior structures to protect
against the penetration of water, dust, gas and oil.
• The tough, flexible web structure ensures the efficient and
effective sealing of walls, including wall penetrations, regardless of
changes in substrate.
• Perfect for sealing against incoming and outgoing moisture, air
and gases.
Oklahoma City Zoo
Oklahoma City , OK USA
Aesthetic and Maintenance Features:
• Beautiful, high quality coating available in virtually any color.
• Long lasting color durability.
• Ease of modification or repair: Cocoon readily accepts top-
coating since the new coat softens the old and “bites” in.
• Ease of maintenance: Cocoon is extremely washable and will
withstand repeated scrubbing with strong detergents, sterilizing
solutions or high pressure washers.

Cocoon’s Web-like strands
• Unique web-like strands allows the applicator to form a
seamless, durable, flexible, permanent membrane over gaps,
ensuring a perfect bridging and seal between various building
materials.
• Permits the sealing of machinery and equipment, pipe and duct
penetrations, and the gas and airtight sealing of any room or
structure.
• Maintains integrity of seals at pipe penetrations, where expansion
and contraction along dissimilar planes causes stress.
Cocoon’s web-like strands during
application
Cocoon uses: Mothballing
• Objects are protected with a weather-proof, tough and
seamless Cocoon ‘skin’, which is hermetically sealed against
moisture and dust. Within this “cocoon”, the relative humidity is
kept at approximately 40%, which prevents the formation of
mold and corrosion.
• Peel off “version”: Temporarily protects or conserves various
installations. Ability to be sprayed on and easily peeled off
without damaging the materials underneath.
Before and after images
of US Navy Missile Battery.
Image on right shows the Missile
Battery totally encapsulated with
Cocoon.
Cocoon use: Operating Theatres, Clean
Rooms and Laboratories
• Cocoon creates a tough, flexible seal and is able to maintain
both positive and negative pressures to prevent cross
contamination.
• By using the unique Cocoon system the applicator can create
a hermetically sealed hygienic environment.
• Cocoon is perfect for sealing against other incoming and
outgoing moisture, air and gasses.
• Eliminates surface porosity, joints and cracks where bacteria
or spores can lodge and develop and is extremely resistant to
fungi or bacteria.
Other Cocoon uses:
• Gas seal coating in hospital hyperbaric suites and tobacco
fumigation warehouses.
• Hermitically sealing of ammunition crates, components used
for oil and gas drilling.
• Used on all exterior masonry surfaces, including roofing, to
effectively waterproof and seal against moisture penetration.
• Used for interior applications such as dust free areas, shower
rooms, brewery fermentation rooms and bottling plants,
hospital scrub rooms, swimming pools, and other areas where
abrasion resistance, washability, moisture protection, chemical
protection, fungi and bacteria resistance is important.
Other Cocoon uses:
• Used in environmental control systems to seal plenum
chambers and ducts against air loss.
• Has been used extensively on promenade decks, traffic
bearing roof decks and mechanical room floors where its
excellent abrasion, waterproofing and durability features are
important.

  • 6. April23, 2009 GREEN TECHNOLOGY PRESS RELEASE Green Technology inConstruction Waterproofing Better livingthrough green chemistry has been integrated into every aspect of Andek Corporation's approach to problem-solving, material selection, product design, and distribution operations since the 1970's. The principle of using low toxicity materials began when most waterproof coatings manufacturers were using asbestos, lead, mercury, and many toxic chemicals as ingredients. Andek Corporation implemented "green chemistry" guidelines in formulation design as part of a corporate culture to integrate sustainable technology with environmental responsibility. Waterproof coatings in their earliest forms hadvery high volatile organic compound (V.O.C.) contents. This often consisted of the majority of the volume of the product and wasessential to get the coating to a viscosity low enough for application. Andek Corporation realized that incorporating vast quantities of ingredients designed to be released into the air was notjust unhealthy but was wasteful. The goal of formulating high solids, low emission products was tied to the concept that, just as trees emit turpentine, isoprene, and other volatile organic compounds into the air, a waterproof coating should emit no more V.O.C.s than a tree during its lifetime. Durabilityis,of course, oneof the most important ingredientsofsustainability. This iscentral to the core of green chemistry. Andek Corporation has utilized polymeric technology that incorporates hydrophobic moleculardesign intoa stable geometry that anchors intoa sub strate through crosslinking. Every effort has been made by Andek Corporation to formulate products that control energy transmission through the building envelope. Some of these products reflect heat by either reflection or reduce thermal shock by endothermic reaction. Also important is the use of low energy demand manufacturing processes to reduce the carbon footprint of production. Efficient distribution of material using local sources of supply is essential to maintain the sustainability of any operation. Knowledge of local building styles and codes, together with climatic and environmental considerations, is extremely important. Andek Corporation has built a network of technica l field representatives that can offer specialized advice through their extensive knowledge of both their area of expertise and familiarity with specifications for the use of Andek products. Many people rely on the insight and innovation of this team to provide durable, long-lasting waterproofing products using sensible green technology. Andek Corporation is fully committed to incorporatinggreen chemistry into allresearch and development, creating breakthrough products of the future for construction waterproofing and building preservation. • 9. Cocoon coatings have their origin immediately following the Second World War. Millions of square meters of United States Naval warships and airplanes were successfully coated and “mothballed” with Cocoon for future use. Through continuous research & development, Cocoon’s permanent waterproofing, gas seal and protective qualities have been enhanced and refined.
  • 10. COCOON is a revolutionary, high-quality, sprayable liquid polymer coating. No other product has Cocoon’s unique qualities. It sprays a cobweb-like filament that forms a permanent, tough, seamless, waterproof, very durable coating that can be applied to almost all materials. Cocoon creates a waterproof and vapor-proof barrier that is able to stretch 2.5 times the original size, and return to its original form.
  • 11. Cocoon Protects • Tough, very durable, weatherproof, seamless coating that is highly resistant to impact and abrasion. • Sunlight, rain, wind and marine atmospheres have minimal effect on Cocoon. Provides a very high UV-resistance barrier. • Resists all forms of corrosion and prevents surface deterioration caused by acids, fats, salt solutions, alcohol, greases and fungi, and most industrial chemicals. • Resistant at ambient temperatures to most strengths of common alkalies or mineral acids. • Cocoon can stretch to 2.5 times its original size, and return to its original form. The extreme elasticity of Cocoon permits the coating to stretch and shrink with changing temperatures, and assures that the coating is not damaged or torn. • Will not support combustion. When exposed to a flame, Cocoon will not ignite and will protect combustible substrates from the spread of flames.
  • 12. Cocoon Seals and Waterproofs • Cocoon has the unique ability to bridge openingsaround penetrations of any size or shape. • Forms a waterproof and vapor-proof barrier in both low and high temperature environments. Water vapor transmission isvirtually zero. • Can be applied to interior and exterior structures to protect against the penetration of water, dust, gas and oil. • The tough, flexible web structure ensures the efficient and effective sealing of walls, including wall penetrations, regardless of changes in substrate. • Perfect for sealing against incoming and outgoing moisture, air and gases. • 14. Cocoon’s Web-like strands • Unique web-like strands allows the applicator to form a seamless, durable, flexible, permanent membrane over gaps, ensuring a perfect bridging and seal between various building materials. • Permits the sealing of machinery and equipment, pipe and duct penetrations, and the gas and airtight sealing of any room or structure. • Maintains integrity of seals at pipe penetrations, where expansion and contraction along dissimilar planes causes stress. Cocoon’s web-like strands during application
  • 15. Cocoon uses: Mothballing • Objects are protected with a weather-proof, tough and seamless Cocoon ‘skin’, which is hermetically sealed against moisture and dust. Within this “cocoon”, the relative humidity is kept at approximately 40%, which prevents the formation of mold and corrosion. • Peel off “version”: Temporarily protects or conserves various installations. Ability to be sprayed on and easily peeled off without damaging the materials underneath. Before and after images of US Navy Missile Battery. Image on right shows the Missile Battery totally encapsulated with Cocoon.
  • 16. Cocoon use: Operating Theatres, Clean Rooms and Laboratories • Cocoon creates a tough, flexible seal and is able to maintain both positive and negative pressures to prevent cross contamination. • By using the unique Cocoon system the applicator can create a hermetically sealed hygienic environment. • Cocoon is perfect for sealing against other incoming and outgoing moisture, air and gasses. • Eliminates surface porosity, joints and cracks where bacteria or spores can lodge and develop and is extremely resistant to fungi or bacteria.
  • 17. Other Cocoon uses: • Gas seal coating in hospital hyperbaric suites and tobacco fumigation warehouses. • Hermitically sealing of ammunition crates, components used for oil and gas drilling. • Used on all exterior masonry surfaces, including roofing, to effectively waterproof and seal against moisture penetration. • Used for interior applications such as dust free areas, shower rooms, brewery fermentation rooms and bottling plants, hospital scrub rooms, swimming pools, and other areas where abrasion resistance, washability, moisture protection, chemical protection, fungi and bacteria resistance is important.
