Breaking the Biography
What exactly is a biography? According to Dictionary.com it is "a written account of another person's life". However, that is a very broad definition,
so I have decided add on to this definition to make my own definition of what I believe a biography to be. A biography is a written account of another
person's life told by an individual outside of the story. In Art Spiegelman's Maus, although pushing the boundaries, certain sections of the book could
best be described as a "biography" through the way they are written. One aspect that sets this biography apart from others is the medium used. While
most biographies are purely written and tell the story of the subject's life, Maus is (or could be considered) a graphic biography, if there is such a
thing. It is both written and illustrated by Art Spiegelman, who happens to be the subject's son. By using a mixture of drawings, dialogue and
commentary, Spiegelman is able to tell the story of his father's experiences during World War II. This is another factor that sets it apart from other
biographies; it doesn't follow Spiegelman's father, Vladek Spiegelman's life in its entirety, but instead focuses primarily on his life during World War

Then, as the essay continues, Woolf begins to be more interested and starts to feel a sense of pity or sympathy for the moth. As described here,
"Watching him, it seemed as if a fibre, very thin and pure, of the enormous energy of the world had been thrust into his frail and diminutive body"

bring about changes in their behaviors that impact quality of care and quality of life. This chapter assembles the major findings of the study, considers

The term "nonfiction" is a very broad classifier of literature. Alongside fiction, the two genres account for all the literature in existence. A quick internet
search will present a number of genres that are considered nonfiction. From historical eyewitness accounts, to creative nonfiction, to biographies, there

Obviously, morality gets drawn from both Flush and the Nun's Priest's Tale, however, little significance is placed on the ethical preaching's of the
texts. The "purpose" (Mitchell, 17) not restricted to moral lessons, in fact purpose is not required at all. When Virginia Woolffirst began Flush, she
intended the biography merely for the amusement of one of the Bloomsbury group (Smith, 356). While the text clearly grew in meaning during its

1.For my biography, I choose Dorothy Day, who was a journalist and social activist born on November 8, 1897, in Brooklyn, NY. Dorothy Day was

When I listen to this music I feel as though the artist is speaking to me personally and telling me their story. When you listening to them you hear
their tone (positive or negative) and it impacts how the story is interpreted. I do not feel the same way if I were reading a story. After listening to
the albums we discussed earlier I can appreciate the inspirational message each one conveys. My personal favorite of the three artists is Kendrick
Lamar. I find him to be a more relatable artist and I enjoy his music. In good kid, m.A.A.d. city, he talks about how his parents were always telling

man he has become. My parents are similar to his. They have opinions about everything I do. And, up to now I have not done everything the way
they would have liked. I have made my own mistakes. But, my parents have taught me to be a good person and I know that they will always be

behind what they think is the 'benefactor.' In all, the only thing the chief ended up doing was 'spoiling the proud feelings with wrong headed remarks,'

In 1903, when Woolf was in her very early twenties, her other half–brother George began to sexually abuse her, sliding into bed with her against her
will, and almost never leaving her alone. Shortly after, she tried to commit suicide by jumping out a window, but it was too low to kill her (Whitworth,
9–10). Virginia met Leonard Woolf briefly in 1904, and after a long and tumultuous courtship plagued by doubt and Virginia's mental illness, they were
