2. What is multiplexer?
• Multiplexer is a device that has multiple inputs and a single output.
• The select lines determine which input is connected to output and also to
increase the amount of data that can be sent over a network with certain
time.
• It is called selector
5. Applications of Multiplexer
• Communication System:
1. A communication system has a great impact by multiplexer.
2. By using a multiplexer, the efficiency can be increased.
• Computer Memory:
1. Multiplexer are used in computer memory.
2. Reduces copper lines to connect the memory to other parts of the computer.
6. Applications of Multiplexer
• Telephone Network:
1. In telephone networks, multiple audio signals are integrated.
• Transmission from the computer of a satellite:
1. Multiplexer is used to transmit the data signals.
2. From satellite is ground
3. By using GSM satellite.
7. What is demultiplexer?
• A demultiplexer (also known as a demux or data distributor) is defined as a
circuit that can distribute or deliver multiple outputs from a single input.
• A demultiplexer can perform as a single input with many output switches.
10. Applications of Demultiplexer
• Communication System:
1. DE multiplexer receives signal outputs from the multiplexer.
2. At the receiver end it converts them back to the original form.
• Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU):
1. The output of the ALU is fed as an input to the DE multiplexer.
2. And the output of the DE multiplexer is connected to multiple resgister.
11. Applications of Demultiplexer
• Series to parallel converter:
1. This converter is used to reconstruct parallel data
2. Serial data is given as an input to the DE multiplexer at a regular interval.
3. A counter is attached to detect the data signal.
