The Cloud Gate Public Art.
My first day to the millennium park, Chicago, Illinois was such a beautiful and
memorable adventure. The Cloud Gate in the middle of the park is a masterpiece of public art.
The art is the product of hard work, professionalism, and boundless creativity. The bean, as it is
nicknamed from its bean-shaped design brings back the knowledge I had about the properties of
mercury. The sculpture achieves its shiny nature from the over one hundred and fifty stainless
steel plates that have been fitted together. Unlike in the museums which have limited spaces
while others prohibit photography and other everyday habits, the cloud gate is an open attraction
scenery that has received traffic from around the world.
The cloud gate features a 12-feet high under-arch that allows people to pass through
making it a magnificent experience. As opposed to the museum which is mostly an indoor
facility, the Cloud gate surface distorts and reflects the city’s skyline making it an incredible
phenomenon to watch (Quadri). The cloud gate public art, unlike the museum is a combination
of knowledge, experience, and creativity. Kapoor, the mastermind behind the being of the bean
combined the inspiration he acquired from the properties of mercury with his skills to set up a
structure building on his numerous themes.

From my experience from the cloud gate, I am convinced that public arts are a significant
investment and joints for socializing as well as gathering a rich cross-cultural experience. Just
like the museums, public arts can be educational resources to offer a practical achieved example
for the knowledge the students are getting at school. Also, unlike in the museums with most old
and obsolete resources, many public arts are modern and relevant to the current world dynamics.
