2. Historical Background
of Brickfields
A community art project has been
initiated by (GSKL).
The location was chosen due to
its diminishing historical value
and high traffic.
The mural project, known as
"Better Streets", was carried out
with the support of the local
community, artists and students
from SMK La Salle.
3. Bulls of the Roads
As bullock carts were popular in the 1950s, Brickfields used to be
known as “kandang kerbau” (buffalo shed) because buffaloes were
kept there at night.
4. Origin Of Brickfields
The colourful wall features paintings of shrines, mosques, Chinese
temples, and even coconut trees.
5. Government Quarters in Brickfields
The third wall shows
the hundred
government quarters
in Brickfields, which
are to be demolished
soon, that will turn a
century old this year.

books, globes,
blackboards
and stationery
in an array of
colours

artwork painted or
applied directly on a wall,
ceiling or other large
permanent surface. A
distinguishing
characteristic of mural
painting is that the
architectural elements of
the given space are
harmoniously
incorporated into the
picture.
