Procter & Gamble Competitive Advantage
Information technology is of great importance in this century 21, where life depends on rapid
technological development. In the business world, information technology has been a big difference
since its emergence as it helps in the development of both domestic and international sectors. Before
Information technology in companies was more hierarchical in the transmission of information
(misinformation). With the advent of information technology, the transfer of information has become
much easier than ever and it was one of the most important reasons for the emergence of competitive
advantages (SHARIRO, RG 2016). Information technology is one of the reasons why business
technology is helping to enter the new market better and more at the present ... Show more content on

One of the main reasons for this proposal was to help many organizations use technology to gain
insight into their behavior and customer base and increase their sales (Bligh, 2004).

My Science Olympiad Competition: The Myo Armband
As the world continues to advance onward to new technologies and ideas, the areas of science,
technology, engineering, and math are being utilized more and more. One example of such
interdisciplinary study that I find fascinating is a cutting edge new technology called the Myo
Armband, which utilizes nerve signals by use of electromyography technology and transfers them into
Bluetooth Signals that can be used for gesture control, or the controlling of digital devices without
touch. This device can interpret five gestures of the hand and hand rotation, which makes forth for easy
controlling. What truly defines such technology is not just its functions, but its workings and its
possibilities. This innovation intrigues me because it is a representation of what humankind can
achieve. This technology is blurring the line between technology and the human body. The Myo
Armband represents the future, and its practical uses are abundant. For instance, the Myo could form a
new generation of prosthetics, stopping the need for unnecessary surgery while still allowing for fine
motor movements. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We will be coding programs to control the arm using Myo, and after the competition, I plan on altering
the hand into a functioning and practical prosthetic arm and write a research paper about it. While Myo
may be in the early stages, it is already leaving a large impact on the world. John Hopkins University
has already incorporated the Myo Armband into its neurological studies, large gaming corporations are
utilizing Myo into more realistic playing, and in a future where technology will be more and more
wearable and connected to us, Myo takes the first step; this innovation represents potential, and with it
the world of possibility in

What Technological Innovation Strategies Are Currently...
What technological innovation strategies are currently evident?
In 2015 there are different types on Technological innovation strategies that are used within the
banking sector such as customer experience, in store or on a social level and even mobile banking.
According to the 2014 World Retail Banking Report by Capgemini about 40% of global customers
have reported to have positive experiences with their banks. The banking way of life is changing
because consumers are banking via mobile and or social media instead of having an in store
experience. (Jim Marous, 2015)

Despite these successes the banks have failed to understand and deliver innovation that is fuelled by
different technologies to their customers. (Gerbino, D., 2014)
Mobile banking has come a long way in the past couple of years, at the start users were able to transfer
money around in their different accounts and then to different people for different reasons. Barclays
Created a mobile app called Barclays Ping It where there a customer is able transfer money to another
person via the person's mobile number.
With Barclays there customers " are using the mobile banking app about 24 times a month, going
online twice a month and visiting a branch less than twice a month" that was stated by Barclays CEO
Anthony Jenkins when he was interviewed by the Independent. This shows that smart devices are
changing the way people are banking and that Barclays are determined to adapt to the changing
environment. It was revealed that Barclays is taking over 6,500 cashier and training them to become
community bankers which their sole aim is to help customers use the automated machines within the
banks. (Ben Rossi, 2014)

Effective Knowledge Sharing Process And Procedure For...
Introduction
The purpose is to identify the enablers of the effective knowledge sharing with constraints of different
work shifts. In the organization, face to face interaction was difficult to share the tacit knowledge with
people working in 2 different shifts (11:30 AM to 8:00 & 10:30 PM to 6:00 AM). This case study is
focused on knowledge sharing process and procedure to train and prepare the new work force to work
individually.
Hays Business Solutions is the subsidiary of the Hays Inc which primarily deals with the recruitment.
Hays Inc is operational in 33 countries. HBS was formed to provide the IT technical solutions and
support to the recruitment process. In November 2015, HBS commenced the US shift to provide the
online support services to the customers in US. As part of the strategic plan, 11 new members were
hired to specifically work for the night shift. These peoples were provided the training sessions to fit in
their respective roles.
Objective
The Objective of this case study is to identify and understand the enabler for the organization's
performance, and to develop the integrated Model to represent the scenario for the firm. This case study
also aims to help identify the misconduct and the inappropriate practices and to suggest the solution for
the knowledge creation and analysis of the counter measures taken by the firm after facing this
problem.

Career Goals In Healthcare
Over the past seven weeks I was giving the opportunity to learn an excessive amount of information on
the relationship between technology and society. Technology is rapidly evolving today making our
daily operations easier than before. Although technology can be the best thing ever it does come with it
drawbacks in certain situations. In today's age technology plays an important role in our career life. It is
used to help us get the job done in a more efficiently and at a faster pace. However, using technology
for data storage and businesses purposes can be at risk of being hacked or stolen. Businesses and
employees have to make sure they have the best security protection in order to keep their information

I have developed some very important skills from this course, which I will be able to transfer to my
career. These skills are my communication skills and knowledge on technology. My communication
skill has improved a lot from this course as a result of interacting with my classmate in discussion
threads and peer review. In my career as a human resource manager I will need to be able to
communicate efficiently with my coworkers and physicians to resolve issues and sharing ideas.
How do these skills support the development of communication competence, critical thinking, and
problem solving? Being able to communicate efficiently will give me the ability to be better at critical
thinking and problem solving. Communication is the key and being able to communicate efficiently
will allow me to think clearly and realistically. In cases where employees make irrational decisions may
result in harming the company and the team. Having the ability to examine difficult situations
reasonable logic will allow me to solve the issue more efficiently.
What are some of the ways you will continue to develop these skills in your career path as part of your

Insightful Reflection In ICT
Insightful Reflection in ICT
Technology through Life
ICT (Information and Communication Technology) is useful and helpful. It's an application of modern
technology to interact and share information among people all fields and develop science through
technology.
For me as a student technology can really help to make our class session in 'Empowerment technology',
as interactive and collaborative. By putting a student into a small groups or maybe pairs, quick internet
research can help us find answers and solutions to problems. I can show everyone how technology can
help with lecture portions of classes using power point presentations displayed via and overhead
projector.
Technology also provides new resources for learning the overcome distance and time. The addition of
this valuable tool, technology into our education system is a slow process, that one single idea of how
to use technology in education, that one soon becomes noted as a meaningful addition and so more

fact that there is an advantages and disadvantages in using our technology in our daily living. As a
student we should start in ourselves to make use technology in a proper way. People has a lot of idea in
using technology, just like for example is, entering in the world of social media through using other

Jean Marc Bosm Football Player For Belgian League Team
The Bosman Ruling
The ease and freedom with which clubs transfer players between one another today would not have
been possible without the Bosman Ruling.
Jean–Marc Bosman was a football player for Belgian leagues team R.F.C de Liege, where he had a
contract until June 30th, 1990. When R.F.C. de Liege offered Bosman a new contract with a 75 percent
salary reduction, Bosman declined the offer and was automatically placed on the transfer list for the
club. A second division team in France, USL Dunkerque, expressed interest in signing the player and
both teams negotiated the transfer. USL Dunkerque agreed to pay 1,200,000 Belgian Francs for the first
season and 4,800,000 Belgian Francs if they ended up acquiring the player after the end of ... Show

1293). Bosman also took legal action against UEFA, the European Football Association, to the
European Court of Justice in an attempt to invalidate UEFA's "gentlemen's agreement". The
gentlemen's agreement, also known as the 3–plus–2 rule, allowed domestic leagues to set their own
maximum number of foreign players that a particular club could have. The 3–plus–2 rule states that
only three foreign players and two foreign players who had been in the country for more than five years
could play on the field at the same time for a club in domestic matches. In April 1992, the Belgian
Court of Justice declared no legal consequences for the suit, so Bosman decided to drop the charges
against his club and the Belgian league in order to develop a new claim against UEFA. In his new
claim, he stated that the 3–plus–2 rule and European transfer system breached the Articles 48, 85 and
86 of the Treaty of Rome, and they should be considered null and voided. (Lee, 1995) On December
15th, 1995 the European Court of Justice finally reached a verdict and the transfer market in European
football was changed forever. According to Case C–415/93, "The European Court of Justice ruled that
it was illegal for clubs to stop players from moving clubs once their contracts have expired. The
European Court of Justice also banned the restrictions that a club could have on the number of players
that belong to the European Union." Before the rule was established, clubs had the

Potential Energy Research Paper
Energy is an objects ability to do work. It helps us live and do tasks every day, with new technology
making humanity more and more dependent on energy.
People are still trying to find ways to utilize energy to make life easier and more efficient. There are
many types of energy, like kinetic energy, potential energy and heat energy. Kinetic energy is energy in
motion, and any object in motion uses kinetic energy. Potential energy is the energy stored in an object
based on its height and position. Heat energy is the total energy an object has, and heat can be
transferred. An example of energy is a rollercoaster. When you are going up a lift hill, potential energy
builds up. As you go down the launch track, that potential energy is converted into kinetic energy, as
the rollercoaster is in motion. The heat energy is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With misread gauges, bad decisions and stuck valves, a partial meltdown of the reactor core, set free
radioactive gases into the air. There were arguments to shut down power plants, which is a major
energy source. This primary energy source, nuclear energy, provides electricity, which is a lesser energy
source. As humans progress, we have many energy sinks, so without this major energy source (nuclear
power plants) we may not have been able to sustain the amount of phone use and computer use that we
are used to. An energy sink is anything that uses energy. If nuclear power plants had been shut down, a
huge part of the energy market would be shut down, making it so energy would cost more, and we
might have to cut back on our normal energy use. This was very close to happening. The gases released
were not harmful, but it brought a big scare and a great topic for people against nuclear power plants.

Technology And World Civilization : A Thousand Year History
Technology in World Civilization: A Thousand Year History written by physicist and historian Arnold
Pacey explains his unique "global view" of the evolution of technology differing from the common
Eurocentric view of this topic dating back to Greek civilizations. The book is consisted of eleven
chapters that chronologically depict the creative inventions in technology throughout several cultures
across time in history, starting from the early days in 700 A.D. to the very recent historical events in the
1980's. Technology in World Civilization: A Thousand Year History views the adaptation of technology
from a different perspective by giving insight and excellent supporting criteria crediting the East with

For example, Indian textile technology had an immense influence on Britain during the Industrial
Revolution, but there was not any specific 'transfer of technology.' Rather, the British simply
understood that Indians could spin, weave, and dye yarn to make colorful fabrics. As a result, the
British modified this idea and adopted weaving into their culture, giving them the same results and
ultimately creating a responsive, innovative invention for their society. Without a doubt, Pacey's
creative take and supporting examples, emphasizing the transfer of knowledge in innovation rather than
the transfer of technology, depict the idea's immense benefits that shaped the crucial inventions in
history across cultures. Moreover, another crucial historical benefit to societies from Arnold Pacey's
argument in Technology in World Civilization: A Thousand Year History is the use of social interaction
to create responsive inventions. The text defines responsive inventions as the result of interactions that
lead to conversations resulting in incomplete information that fortunately sparks fresh ideas amongst
individuals in the same or differing cultures. This phenomenon is accomplished through recipients of a
new body of knowledge interrogating and then innovating the new ideas or technological inventions on
the core basis of the individual's own personal experiences and information regarding their local

Innovation Policy in Brazil
As technological globalization advances and technological change progresses more quickly than ever in
the past, one of the central dimensions to gain an understanding of how Latin American countries are
posed to answer to these new challenges concerns changes in their science and innovation policy.
Developing cohesive innovation policies is one of the key challenges Brazil faces as the country strives
to emerge in the global economy characterized by quick progresses because government decision may
either encourage or hinder the Brazilian NIS .
By looking at the recent developments in the Innovation Policy framework in Brazil, the technological
efforts are clear but emerges that the problem with innovation in Brazil is the added costs associated
with the country's weak institu¬tional framework and poor legal enforcement.
The roots of Modern Brazil Innovation policy system starts during Cold War.
In 1951 Brazil sees the creation of two national agencies, the National Research Council, CNPq (today
called National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) – and CAPES with the
responsibility to coordinate the programs of postgraduate education. The system is consolidated later
on with the inauguration of Brazil's innovation agency (FINEP) in the 80s and the creation of FUNTEC
the Brazilian national fund for science and technology.
Until the '90s, the Science and Technology (S&T) policy in Brazil focused a lot on the development of
infrastructures for research

Invention Over Time : Technology
Invention over Time Technology in World Civilization: A Thousand–year History is a book written by
Arnold Pacey in 1990. Pacey is an associate lecturer at the Open University, Britain. He attempts to
look globally at the development of technology soley in a world civilization. He focuses mainly on the
dialogue between different countries, and the developments that happen. One of the major arguments of
the book is the simultaneity of invention. Pacey's thesis is extremely sound, and provides many sources
for evidence, as well as maps and drawings to further his development. This argument is presented
well, and used throughout the entire book. I agree with it entirely because I think over time society
looks at the successes of others and mold it to fit their society. The argument of simultaneity of
invention claims that the process in which discovery happens is in a defined fashion rather than a
random one. Ideas are passed through cultures, and become more improved as the move on. Pacey
says, "that the achievements of one society stimulated people elsewhere to make different but related
inventions" (Pacey vii). Pacey explains this concept through basic guns, and gunpowder in China
(Pacey vii). These tools were invented in China, but when news of this traveled to Europe it created
new and better devices, such as the cannon. In the United States they created Transistors, while Japan
developed new products based off of this electric device. Stimulus effects create new and

Technology in Life
In the past people have difficult life because of many things and technology is one of them .As we
know, technology is very important in our life for many reasons, it makes life easy, save the time and
improve the quality . Day to day we see new technology and suitable for everyone , so no thing stay as
it is.If we aske old man or woman will know how they suffered because of having poor of technology.
In the future many types of technology will change and comes with new ideas. That is whey every
country takes care of the technology. Oman is also go ahead for this and it want to be the best. In this
project I will talk about the future of technology in Oman and how it will be effective .
when we talk about technology ,that means we human are talking about something that made the life of
easy and us do a lot of things in a short time . so my point is technology is too important in this
geuiration.
As we know, Oman has good technology and it provides the citizens with technology. But we want do
this plan improve technology and develop it by studding it here in Oman and making new inventions
by support the students. If we do this plan, we will have great strong technology in future. That what
we really want, strong future by technology. So we have to start the plan right now.
Last point, Technology has effected human to good way. Because technology has advantages more than

Finding new and innovative ways of handling existing problems has never been easier or more frequent
than today. New technological concepts seem to be coming to light on what seems a daily basis. With
this being said, sometimes it is easier to solve existing problems with existing solutions rather than
finding new ones. When is it acceptable for companies, or even governments, to innovate to find a
solution rather than replace with existing technologies? For example, if a company is increasing its
LAN infrastructure would it be best to invest in new or less expensive technologies even if they are
untested, or to replace with more expensive but reliable technologies. This is a question that could be
asked by someone deciding on a home computer, to NASA deciding the best way to launch rockets into
space.

Fiber optic cable is not a new form of technology. It allows for larger amounts of data to be transferred
at a rate much higher than traditional copper cable. This is the main appeal to fiber optic technologies.
This being said, it is very expensive to replace current mediums with fiber optic infrastructure. In the
Bloomberg article, "Will Not–Quite–Fiber Make the Grade?", BT has realized that there is a sector of
the United Kingdom's market that wants the ability to transfer larger amounts of

Analysis Of FIFA 18
Last year, FIFA 17 was the best–selling game on the PlayStation 4 with over 10 million units sold
worldwide. Not only did it perform exceptionally well on the PlayStation, across all platforms, only
Pokemon Sun/Moon on the 3DS sold more copies.
Without doubt, the FIFA franchise is huge and while EA Sports know that they're likely to top the sales
charts each year, I'm happy to report that with FIFA 18, they are not resting on their laurels. Thanks to
subtle improvements to the gameplay, as well as new features in the 'Career Mode', this year's FIFA is
EA's most complete entry in the series to date.

This attention to detail also stretches to certain players. While it would be impossible to uniquely
program thousands of footballers individually, the bigger name, as well as some lesser known players,
have their own unique style of play. Of course, Ronaldo and Messi play like their real life counterparts
but it's refreshing to see someone like Matt Ritchie behave in a similar fashion to real life.
Although not a bad thing, the differences between FIFA's 17 and 18 regarding AI behaviour adapting
during a match is less noticeable. Games are slow and play out similarly to FIFA 17, with an emphasis
on possession being the key to unlock defences. However, one welcome change I found is how teams
react to falling a goal or two behind.
One gripe I have of FIFA games is how the AI responds to conceding early on. Teams tend to go
kamikaze, prematurely piling men forward leaving gaps in defence. This behaviour is common at the
latter stages of a real match but not early on. With FIFA 18, teams do seem less partial to keep throwing
men forward nonsensically when falling behind, now only doing so when time is running out or the
possibility of a comeback is likely.
The quick substitution feature is a welcome addition. Quite simply, as a match nears its conclusion,
pressing the R2 button brings up a small box where you can substitute a tiring player with a positional
like–for–like replacement instead of pausing

Industrial Revolution Research Paper
Throughout the course of human history, technological advances have gone hand–in–hand with societal
advances. Rather than just contributing to the development of society, one can confidently conclude
that technology is the cause for the growth of society. From the stone tools of humanity's early
ancestors to the mechanization of industry and the development of modern tools, like the internet,
technology has been the driving force for societal change.
The ability to make tools gave early humans the evolutionary advantage to rise to the top of the food
chain and displayed the advance of society through improvements in technology. Without this ability,
early humans would not have been able to hunt and domesticate packs of wild animals, most of ...

As technology has advanced, so too has communication and information transfer. From the telephone
to the recent advent of the internet, a trend in technological advancement spanning the past century has
been increasing the speed of information transfer and, in a sense, narrowing the communication gap. A
similarity between the introduction of the telephone and the advent of the internet is that both
inventions introduced dramatically faster forms of communication compared to the predominant
technology of the time, leading to more efficient communication both on a person–to–person basis and
between businesses and their employees. A key difference between the two, however, has been the
internet's influence on information accessibility. Contrary to popular belief, literacy rates have
improved with the introduction of the internet. This is because the leisure activities available on the
internet are predominantly text–based. Even if the content is mundane or otherwise trivial, like a
Facebook status, it still utilizes an individual's reading ability, and allows people to practice and
maintain their reading skills well after their education is completed. The internet has influenced
education in a much more direct way as well, with online videos and resources that can cater to a

these areas of revenue enhancement will go the way of athletics, becoming so ingrained into

Having summarized the most likely areas of commercialization on campus, Bok spends the second half
of the book explaining why and how the process leads to damaging consequences for many schools,
and suggests how to avoid them. Bok lists three main dangers of commercialization: undermining
academic values, damaging the academic community, and risks to institutional and professional
reputations. Curriculum, he says, should be shaped by faculty, and not influenced unduly by political
sentiment, powerful regents, or wealthy donors. The profit motive shifts this focus from supplying the
best learning experience toward raising prices and cutting costs without losing customers. Such
behavior sets the wrong example for students. "Helping to develop virtue and build character have been
central aims of education since the time of Plato and Aristotle. After years of neglect, universities
everywhere have rediscovered the need to prepare their students to grapple with the moral dilemmas
they will face in their personal and professional lives. In colleges and professional schools alike,
courses on practical ethics are now a common feature of the curriculum" (p. 109). He states in his
book's preface, "I worry that commercialization may be changing the nature of academic institutions in
ways we will come to regret. By trying so hard to

Essay about Syndexa and Technology Transfer at Harvard
1. Towards the end of his medical training in the early 1980s, Gokhan Hotamisligil was working on a
unique tumor case on a patient and found they were comprised primarily of fat cells. The fatty tumors
were due to a rare condition, Proteus Syndrome. Working in the field of metabolic regulation
Hotamisligil began to explore the underlying pathways for insulin resistance. In his dissertation he
discovered that the fat tissue of obese animals and humans were capable of producing inflammatory
mediators. His research helped shape the current view of fat tissue as a "discrete, active organ in its
own right, continuously exchanging messages with the rest of the body by way of the bloodstream." By

To balance these competing interests, Harvard agreed to receive an equity stake in the company, and
Syndexa would pay Harvard a small up–front fee to license the patents that Hotamisligil had
developed. For Syndexa one of the key parts of negotiations was centered on the research that the start–
up intended to fund in Hotamisligil's lab at Harvard. Harvard had major concerns with how the
Syndexa–sponsored research will be separated from the other funds (government– or foundation–
funded projects) that Hotamisligil receives. Harvard cannot funnel federally funded inventions to
companies, however at the same time Syndexa was looking for assurance that they would have first
crack at intellectual property for a technology that they funded. Another major issue extending
negotiations was the conditions under which Syndexa would make royalty payments to Harvard for
products that were not covered under Harvard patents, but discovered using Harvard technologies. To
ensure that Harvard would receive a reasonable return on the patents it was licensing, Syndexa agreed
to pay a small royalty rate if they developed a new therapeutic cure for diabetes using its Harvard
license. Both parties agreed to the concept of an 'identified product', essentially a drug discovered
through the use of patents, targets and assays being licensed from Harvard. Negotiations over what
constituted an 'identified product' continued through the rest

Transfer. In this report I will be investigating on Process safety management. Safety on work place is
one of the priority element management of the manufacture put in front, should fix the rules to follow,
monitoring. Some area where the standards have to be applied such as in chemicals sections,
transportation of materials and fabricated metal products, gas, electric services. Incident
communication is about sharing of information about incident management between the decision
makers and regulators and stakeholders. Parties can communicate at any stage of the risk management
process. The output/result of incident management process should be appropriately communicated and
documented for the future reference. Process safety management has tools available to identify the
hazardous and assess the incidents such as Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA). The process safety
management is important to employees, contractors, customers. Incidents continue to occur in various
industries that use highly hazardous chemicals which may be toxic, reactive, flammable, or explosive,
or may exhibit a combination of these properties. 2. Background In 1991 OSHA (Occupation safety

Healthcare facilities have being transformed from what they used to be 20 years ago. However, the
difference supersedes the similarities in the areas of technology. The transformation was based on

changes are enforced by both the State and Federal Government to ensure professionalism in the field

As a prerequisite before we analyse the one laptop per child (OLPC) program and then trying to
compare it with other Information and communication Technology (ICT) initiatives, it is of great
importance to understand the developmental issues all of which these programs aim to resolve. These
programs in the current world do address multiple socioeconomic problems, as they most broadly
mitigate the digital divide that currently exists. Many research papers have been written about the
issues and characteristics stemming from the digital divide over the past few years. "The term 'digital
divide' is most of the times used to describe the evident unequal ICT access patterns across various
nations". However, this phenomenon is not evidently witnessed between the rich and poor nations. It
has also been noted that the digital divide encompasses unequal ICT access patterns within countries,
this divide between the rich and poor, or the urban and the rural citizens.

education to limit the digital divide that exists, expand on the idea stating digital inequality which

Government is also providing subsidies for research joint ventures involving universities and firms

shared use of expertise and laboratory facilities (e.g., the National Science Foundation's Engineering
Research Centers and Industry– University Cooperative Research Centers), and programs to promote
management and entrepreneurship education among scientists and engineers (e.g., the Science
Enterprise Challenge in the U.K.). These and other trends discussed here have led to experimentation
and innovation in technology management pedagogy and content, which is the focus of this special
issue. For example, it is obvious that the rise in collaborative research and commercialization has
important educational implications, since it implies that team–work has become more important in
science and engineering, especially when both innovation and commercialization are involved. This has
resulted in the increasingly popular use of real–life team projects as the primary method of delivering
discovery–based learning. Our purpose in this special issue is to

FIFA 18 Essay
Last year, FIFA 17 was the best selling game on the PS4 with over a whopping 10 million units sold
worldwide. Not only did it perform exceptionally well on the PlayStation, on all platforms, it came
second to Pokemon Sun/Moon on the 3DS. Unquestionably, EA's FIFA series is huge.
It's fair to say, certainly by now at least, EA Sports know that they're going to top the sales charts each
year. While it's possible this may cause complacency, EA never seem to rest on their laurels. Although
last year saw significant refinements from FIFA 16 to 17, there certainly isn't as many wholesale
changes in FIFA 18. However, subtle improvements to the gameplay, as well as new features in the
Career Mode means FIFA 18 is EA's most complete FIFA to date. ... Show more content on

Pleasingly, although not perfectly, FIFA 18 stays true to the style of play certain teams are known for.
Though one can argue that this was true of FIFA 17 and to a degree, previous installments, the
2017/2018 season is still in its infancy and where Liverpool play a similar way to last season, Man
City's attacking style is slighly different with FIFA 18 mimicking it rather well.
The care for attention to detail is also true to that of individulal players. While it would be impossible
to uniquely program thousands of players individually, the bigger name, as well as some lesser known
players, all have their own style of play. Of course, Ronaldo and Messi play like their real life
counterparts but it's refreshing to see a player like Matt Ritchie behave in a similar fashon to real life.
While tactical set ups and individual players are sound, as far as AI behaviour goes when adapting
during a match, I haven't noticed too many differences between FIFA's 17 and 18. However, one
noticible difference involves how teams react when falling a goal or two behind.
One gripe I've always had of FIFA games is how the AI reacts to going a goal or two down early on.
Teams tend to go kamikaze and pile men forward prematurity leaving gaps in defence. This behaviour
is common at the latter stages of a real match but not so much early on. With FIFA 18, teams do seem
less partial to keep throwing men forward nonsensically when falling behind, now only doing so when

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Singapore's National...
1. Explain the strengths and weaknesses of Singapore's national innovation system.
After gaining political independence from Malaysia in 1965, Singapore experienced a phase of rapid
industrialization based on export–oriented manufacturing by foreign MNCs. The approach was to offer
MNCs favourable conditions to locate in Singapore, with a view to increase overall skills and
technological capabilities. Singapore sought to build its science and technology resources through the
transfer of manufacturing technologies embedded in MNCs and foreign direct investments (FDI). The
local skill base was also developed through "learning by using" techniques among workers and
technicians employed by these foreign MNCs. Thus Singapore followed a dependent ... Show more

One important issue is the relative underdevelopment in local technological and marketing capability.
The success of a national innovation system depends on the effectiveness of two things: (i) the
deployment of new technologies and (ii) the development or creation of new technologies. The
dependent strategy has led Singapore to focus more on the deployment and diffusion of technology by
leveraging on large foreign high–tech MNCs, rather than fostering technological development by local
enterprises. The development of new technology in the MNC headquarters and its transfer to their
subsidiaries in Singapore has only been a major source of technological upgrading in Singapore, rather
than indigenous research and development. (Wong, 2000). According to Low (2000), the innovative
capacity and culture of Singapore had to be nourished, apart from the efforts of the government in
creating a conducive business environment
Developing the national innovation system using the dependent strategy can shift the government's
focus to creating more incentives for MNCs, rather than the domestic firms. Local small and medium
enterprises (SMEs) with some amount of entrepreneurial risk–taking capabilities become
overshadowed by MNCs and Government Linked companies (GLCs). This creates a credibility gap
when obtaining financial assistance schemes. Efforts must be made to ensure that these private local
SMEs are not dwarfed by the MNCs and

World Civilization : A Thousand Year History Essay

Book Review
Arnold Pacey published Technology in World Civilization: A Thousand Year History in the year 1991.
Arnold Pacey was an associate lecturer at The Open University in Britain as well as an author to three
additional books: Meaning in Technology, The Maze of Ingenuity, The Culture of Technology. He
published all four of his books within a ten–year span. Arnold Pacey was trained as an engineer but is
well known as a historian of technology because of the conclusions he drew of society and technology
and their relationship. Society is defined as the aggregate of people living together in a more or less
ordered community. Technology is defined as the application of scientific knowledge for practical
purposes, especially in industry. Technology influences every aspect of our lives today, but we often
forget that it profoundly affected the lives of past generations dating back to the beginning of
civilization. Perhaps not to today's extent, but the impact was still dramatic. New inventions or
innovations produced more food, created new processes and tools, made life easier and made war more
devastating. This course traces the evolution of technology and its impact on civilization from the
creation of elementary tools up to today's latest devices and even looks into future technologies.

ranges to the twentieth century. It

Business Analysis: Multiple Business Pressures On Xerox
Multiple business pressures on Xerox Xerox Corporation operates in the technology industry which is
essentially dynamic. Technological advances in the technology industry occur so often that companies
need to innovate newer and better technological products in order for them to both compete and
survive. Xerox has faced this pressure in the period of 2000 to 2010. The competitors including HP and
Accenture among others are the main competitors who produce technological products that rival those
of Xerox Corporation (Xerox, 2010). A significant proportion of the company's revenue is generated
from overseas operations in countries other than the United States. This means that the company has

Information technology is a major source of pressure for Xerox Corporation because competitors who
introduce new and better technologies threaten the market share of existing Xerox Products.
Information technology is globalised such that an innovation in one country takes a very short time
before it reaches and impacts on other countries as well. Thus there is foreign currency translation
involved as resources and people move from one country to another in the process of technology
transfer (Blalock and Gertler, 2008). Therefore, the operations of large technology companies are
global so that they can tap into new technology that created in a particular country in order to gain a
competitive advantage. However this process of technology transfer is under the risk of currency
exposure. Information technology also introduced hindrances to the renewal of service contracts by
Xerox's clients. This is mainly because the introduction of new technology by other companies may
give them a price advantage over Xerox thus making thus posing a challenge to Xerox's anticipated

How did the Space race improve society with their advanced technology? We know they had advanced
in technology that wasn't here 50 years ago, but, how did technology built for space go in our everyday
lives? One of the most obvious technologies that we created was Satellite Tv, this is one of the tech
breakthroughs that we couldn't think of a life without to keep us entertained. The same goes for
computers and laptops. The Space Race made satellites a possibility when they were used to
communicate with astronauts before soon they made satellite dishes. NASA invented many pieces of
technology that both benefited them in space and people at home watching TV, playing on their video
games and even where I'm typing this on... the computer.
Nasa created many things including, Smoke–Carbon dioxide detectors, developed to test out two space
stations in the 1900's to detect any high–level toxins and fire on board the stations. Since the smoke
particles are larger in space than the ones on Earth, they MUST put them out before they turn into fire
otherwise it'll be too late. (Smoke–Carbon Dioxide, Nasa) Despite that, they had 3D graphics to check

Introduction
Player transfers assume a focal part in professional football. Each season clubs attempt to build their
squads by keeping their best players, exchanging and/or signing others with a definitive point of
building a superior team and improving performances on the pitch. Since the Bosman ruling in 1996,
the significance of transfers has expanded and has turned into a key part of each club 's core business.
Today, it is exceptionally hard to envision the modern form of the sport without them.
A football player is a person who is an athlete and a laborer. The footballer is essentially a sports athlete
or an expert employee, somebody who professionally hones football as a profession. The "player

Technology And Technology : Today 's Youth 's Lives
Technology appears more and more in today's youth's lives. Add this to the advent of the smartphone as
a staple in households with 91% of adolescents using modern technology (computers, phones, etc.)
regularly, it is easy to see why teachers and parents feel their students know more about technology
then they do (). This mentality, however, leads adults to the critical error of assuming children do not
need to be taught technology if anything adults should be using technology to teach. As the article
"Even Digital Natives' Need Digital Training" elaborates students today lack important skills in online
etiquette, safety, and productivity that must be addressed by the educational system. If it is not,
adolescents can harm themselves (McNeill). With this in mind, the described digital problem, the actual
student risk, and the simple teacher solution shows that students are more than technology fools but
still technology learners. Today, technology fools or technology geniuses seem to be the divided in
opinion. As the article, "Even 'Digital Natives' need Digital Training" says most adults are allowing
children access to media devices at sooner and sooner (McNeill). This is turn, leads children to become
better and better at technology at older ages because they have more years of experience. Leading
adults to the belief that children know more and more about technology then they do so they see

In my own opinion the transfer price that Kamp should insist on for the Type 2A engine now is €3450
per unit. This is using the principle of the minimum transfer price which is the variable cost plus the
profit if it sells its engines externally then adds the cost of €200 of developing the Type 2A engine.
However in the future the price may increase because fixed cost will be added as capacity may become
a problem with the expected rise of demand for cars and engines, and also if Kamp is allowed to sell
externally the type 2, 3, and 4 engines, so the price in the future should be €4750.
The proposed transfer price now is also lower than the expected prices from Black and FER so it
should not be a problem with Guy Mercier who is pressuring Kamp to sell the engine at a reasonable
price so that he can raise profit and bonus for his division.
Problem No. 2
Please discuss the possibilities of increasing Kamp's profit by using the formula for basic cost per unit
and by reorganizing. Please use a concrete example to indicate how the board of Kamp can manipulate
the unit costs for the types 2, 3, and 4 by reorganizing its cost information system. How, do you think,
can the boards of the Vecu concern and the MB division determine whether Kamp manipulates data on
unit costs?

Technology Transfers: Putting Theory into Practice
Climate change is an increasingly demanding issue as global population continues to grow, energy
sources are being depleted and cooperation between actors to take action is often difficult to enforce.
Renewable energy is a growing technology. With the depletion of fossil fuels as well as increased
greenhouse gases in the atmosphere due to fossil fuel burning, energy dependency will have to shift to
renewable technologies such as solar photovoltaic, wind, hydroelectric and geothermal. Unfortunately,
these technologies are expensive and building new or altering old plants to allow for their use is costly.

These projects must transfer cleaner technology as well as foster sustainable development in Non
Annex I countries. In Joint Implementation, both countries participating are committed to reductions
under the Protocol (Cullet, 175).
Flexible mechanisms lessen the financial burden of lowering emissions for Annex I countries and also
involve developing nations in the international effort to reduce greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
Non– Annex I countries must be begin to adhere to the emission regulations of the Kyoto Protocol. In
theory, technology transfers through Cleaner Development Mechanisms and Joint Implementations are
an effective way to introduce cleaner technology, aiding both developing and developed countries;
developing countries gain new knowledge and different techniques to shift their dependency away from
nonrenewable energy sources and developed countries adhere to Kyoto provisions.
This exchange is necessary and appears to be flawless, yet such transfers must be closely regulated to
ensure the livelihoods of the people in developing nations rather than the economic benefits such
actions will have for private corporations. Economic and social security must be granted to the
developing countries in order for this mechanism to be followed and agreed upon. Technology transfers

So, people have been creating digital art unknowingly for a rather long time. Other computer programs
have been developed over the years, the main provider being Adobe Creative Cloud which contains
both desktop and mobile applications. Although, Adobe Creative Cloud and Autodesk are more popular
tools for digital art there are other applications unrelated to them just as exceptional. In addition, to the
ever–changing world of technology, notebooks and sketchbooks have been made so someone can
sketch in them, and then transfer the drawing into a digital art application with minimal effort. Prior to
this, one would have to draw the picture straight on the device or go through a long grueling and
exasperating process to transfer one drawing. For this reason, a company by the name of Moleskin
created these sketchbooks and notebooks that are so incredibly, wonderful to use. Thus, broadening the
horizon of possible ways to create digital art with the use of a smart phone, laptop, tablet, and now

Technology Development Life Cycle ( Tdlc )
Introduction When explaining the technology development life cycle (TDLC), it is necessary to include
the technology transfer process (TTP) and the funding sources that are out there. Without discussing all
three of these areas it would be difficult to understand how an idea for an invention makes it to being a
household item. The role of the TDLC is to show how a technology develops during each of the five
stages. The TTP shows how the technology transitions between these stages when ownerships of the
project changes. Lastly, where the funding comes from and why investors stop investing. Technology
Development Life Cycle The TDLC consists of five steps: basic research, proof–of–concept, early–
stage technology development (ESTD), product development, and production (Branscomb, 2002).
These five steps help illustrate what is required for a technology to go from its basic research stage to
being put on the market. In its early stages, the technology is used to develop an idea and prove that it
can be done. Take Graphene for example, the basic research of this technology would have included
identifying its properties to determine if it is a flexible material (Chaochen, Tao, Jiangang, Qinghua,
Sen, Haibin, & Haimei, 2015). Then the proof of concept would be showing that graphene is a flexible
substance that can potentially be incorporated into devices to increase their durability (Chaochen, et.
al., 2015). The third step, ESTD, is where a business case would be made that

How Useful Should The Government Monitor The Internet?
"In today’s society, many advances in technology have taken into effect, affecting almost every
person in the world. One popular advance in technology is the invention and mass use of the Internet.
Currently, more than three billion people are using the Internet on a daily basis for either personal and
business usages. The Internet, today, allows users to transfer large amounts of information across great
distances in a fraction of a second. The information that they transfer into the Internet can range from
educational, businesses, political, entertainment, social networking, to world security purposes.
Because the Internet has become the primary source of communication in our society, the government
feels obligated to control the contents of information distributed throughout the interweb. The question
is to what extent in the U.S. should the government be able to monitor internet content. To begin with,

to regulate explicit content, such as horrid violence and pornography. Because many of the users, today,

Over the past several years, many, if not all, academic research institutions have felt the pinch of
declining federal dollars towards basic science research. The primary federal U.S. funder of biomedical
research is the National Institutes of Health (NIH). However, the NIH budget is not what it used to be;
the budget has decreased by more than 20 percent since 2004 immediately preceding an upward boom
from 1998 to 2003 (NPR, 2014; graph in Appendix A). In 2012, approximately 16 percent of scientists
with large NIH grants lost them the following year which left about 3,500 U.S. scientists, including
researchers at Johns Hopkins University, in need of alternative sources of funding (NPR, 2014).

Procter &Amp; Gamble Competitive Advantage

  • 1. Procter & Gamble Competitive Advantage Information technology is of great importance in this century 21, where life depends on rapid technological development. In the business world, information technology has been a big difference since its emergence as it helps in the development of both domestic and international sectors. Before Information technology in companies was more hierarchical in the transmission of information (misinformation). With the advent of information technology, the transfer of information has become much easier than ever and it was one of the most important reasons for the emergence of competitive advantages (SHARIRO, RG 2016). • 2. My Science Olympiad Competition: The Myo Armband As the world continues to advance onward to new technologies and ideas, the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math are being utilized more and more. One example of such interdisciplinary study that I find fascinating is a cutting edge new technology called the Myo Armband, which utilizes nerve signals by use of electromyography technology and transfers them into Bluetooth Signals that can be used for gesture control, or the controlling of digital devices without touch. This device can interpret five gestures of the hand and hand rotation, which makes forth for easy controlling. What truly defines such technology is not just its functions, but its workings and its possibilities. This innovation intrigues me because it is a representation of what humankind can achieve. This technology is blurring the line between technology and the human body. The Myo Armband represents the future, and its practical uses are abundant. For instance, the Myo could form a new generation of prosthetics, stopping the need for unnecessary surgery while still allowing for fine motor movements. This ... We will be coding programs to control the arm using Myo, and after the competition, I plan on altering the hand into a functioning and practical prosthetic arm and write a research paper about it. While Myo may be in the early stages, it is already leaving a large impact on the world. John Hopkins University has already incorporated the Myo Armband into its neurological studies, large gaming corporations are utilizing Myo into more realistic playing, and in a future where technology will be more and more wearable and connected to us, Myo takes the first step; this innovation represents potential, and with it the world of possibility in ... With Barclays there customers " are using the mobile banking app about 24 times a month, going online twice a month and visiting a branch less than twice a month" that was stated by Barclays CEO Anthony Jenkins when he was interviewed by the Independent. This shows that smart devices are changing the way people are banking and that Barclays are determined to adapt to the changing environment. Jean Marc Bosm Football Player For Belgian League Team The Bosman Ruling The ease and freedom with which clubs transfer players between one another today would not have been possible without the Bosman Ruling. Jean–Marc Bosman was a football player for Belgian leagues team R.F.C de Liege, where he had a contract until June 30th, 1990. When R.F.C. de Liege offered Bosman a new contract with a 75 percent salary reduction, Bosman declined the offer and was automatically placed on the transfer list for the club. A second division team in France, USL Dunkerque, expressed interest in signing the player and both teams negotiated the transfer. Bosman also took legal action against UEFA, the European Football Association, to the European Court of Justice in an attempt to invalidate UEFA's "gentlemen's agreement". The gentlemen's agreement, also known as the 3–plus–2 rule, allowed domestic leagues to set their own maximum number of foreign players that a particular club could have. The 3–plus–2 rule states that only three foreign players and two foreign players who had been in the country for more than five years could play on the field at the same time for a club in domestic matches. In April 1992, the Belgian Court of Justice declared no legal consequences for the suit, so Bosman decided to drop the charges against his club and the Belgian league in order to develop a new claim against UEFA. In his new claim, he stated that the 3–plus–2 rule and European transfer system breached the Articles 48, 85 and 86 of the Treaty of Rome, and they should be considered null and voided. (Lee, 1995) On December 15th, 1995 the European Court of Justice finally reached a verdict and the transfer market in European football was changed forever. With misread gauges, bad decisions and stuck valves, a partial meltdown of the reactor core, set free radioactive gases into the air. As humans progress, we have many energy sinks, so without this major energy source (nuclear power plants) we may not have been able to sustain the amount of phone use and computer use that we are used to. An energy sink is anything that uses energy. If nuclear power plants had been shut down, a huge part of the energy market would be shut down, making it so energy would cost more, and we might have to cut back on our normal energy use. Technology And World Civilization : A Thousand Year History Technology in World Civilization: A Thousand Year History written by physicist and historian Arnold Pacey explains his unique "global view" of the evolution of technology differing from the common Eurocentric view of this topic dating back to Greek civilizations. The book is consisted of eleven chapters that chronologically depict the creative inventions in technology throughout several cultures across time in history, starting from the early days in 700 A.D. to the very recent historical events in the 1980's. Technology in World Civilization: A Thousand Year History views the adaptation of technology from a different perspective by giving insight and excellent supporting criteria crediting the East with the innovative technology ... For example, Indian textile technology had an immense influence on Britain during the Industrial Revolution, but there was not any specific 'transfer of technology.' Rather, the British simply understood that Indians could spin, weave, and dye yarn to make colorful fabrics. As a result, the British modified this idea and adopted weaving into their culture, giving them the same results and ultimately creating a responsive, innovative invention for their society. Without a doubt, Pacey's creative take and supporting examples, emphasizing the transfer of knowledge in innovation rather than the transfer of technology, depict the idea's immense benefits that shaped the crucial inventions in history across cultures. Moreover, another crucial historical benefit to societies from Arnold Pacey's argument in Technology in World Civilization: A Thousand Year History is the use of social interaction to create responsive inventions. The text defines responsive inventions as the result of interactions that lead to conversations resulting in incomplete information that fortunately sparks fresh ideas amongst individuals in the same or differing cultures. This phenomenon is accomplished through recipients of a new body of knowledge interrogating and then innovating the new ideas or technological inventions on the core basis of the individual's own personal experiences and information regarding their local ... Innovation Policy in Brazil As technological globalization advances and technological change progresses more quickly than ever in the past, one of the central dimensions to gain an understanding of how Latin American countries are posed to answer to these new challenges concerns changes in their science and innovation policy. Developing cohesive innovation policies is one of the key challenges Brazil faces as the country strives to emerge in the global economy characterized by quick progresses because government decision may either encourage or hinder the Brazilian NIS . By looking at the recent developments in the Innovation Policy framework in Brazil, the technological efforts are clear but emerges that the problem with innovation in Brazil is the added costs associated with the country's weak institu¬tional framework and poor legal enforcement. The roots of Modern Brazil Innovation policy system starts during Cold War. In 1951 Brazil sees the creation of two national agencies, the National Research Council, CNPq (today called National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) – and CAPES with the responsibility to coordinate the programs of postgraduate education. The system is consolidated later on with the inauguration of Brazil's innovation agency (FINEP) in the 80s and the creation of FUNTEC the Brazilian national fund for science and technology. • 11. Invention Over Time : Technology Invention over Time Technology in World Civilization: A Thousand–year History is a book written by Arnold Pacey in 1990. Pacey is an associate lecturer at the Open University, Britain. He attempts to look globally at the development of technology soley in a world civilization. He focuses mainly on the dialogue between different countries, and the developments that happen. One of the major arguments of the book is the simultaneity of invention. Pacey's thesis is extremely sound, and provides many sources for evidence, as well as maps and drawings to further his development. This argument is presented well, and used throughout the entire book. I agree with it entirely because I think over time society looks at the successes of others and mold it to fit their society. The argument of simultaneity of invention claims that the process in which discovery happens is in a defined fashion rather than a random one. Ideas are passed through cultures, and become more improved as the move on. Pacey says, "that the achievements of one society stimulated people elsewhere to make different but related inventions" (Pacey vii). Pacey explains this concept through basic guns, and gunpowder in China (Pacey vii). These tools were invented in China, but when news of this traveled to Europe it created new and better devices, such as the cannon. In the United States they created Transistors, while Japan developed new products based off of this electric device. Stimulus effects create new and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

CIS–486 Instructor: Dr. Barry Cumbie 12/10/16 University of North Alabama INTRODUCTION Finding new and innovative ways of handling existing problems has never been easier or more frequent than today. New technological concepts seem to be coming to light on what seems a daily basis. With this being said, sometimes it is easier to solve existing problems with existing solutions rather than finding new ones. When is it acceptable for companies, or even governments, to innovate to find a solution rather than replace with existing technologies? For example, if a company is increasing its LAN infrastructure would it be best to invest in new or less expensive technologies even if they are untested, or to replace with more expensive but reliable technologies. This is a question that could be asked by someone deciding on a home computer, to NASA deciding the best way to launch rockets into space. Research Background 1 Fiber optic cable is not a new form of technology. It allows for larger amounts of data to be transferred at a rate much higher than traditional copper cable. This is the main appeal to fiber optic technologies. This being said, it is very expensive to replace current mediums with fiber optic infrastructure. In the Bloomberg article, "Will Not–Quite–Fiber Make the Grade?", BT has realized that there is a sector of the United Kingdom's market that wants the ability to transfer larger amounts of ... Without doubt, the FIFA franchise is huge and while EA Sports know that they're likely to top the sales charts each year, I'm happy to report that with FIFA 18, they are not resting on their laurels. Thanks to subtle improvements to the gameplay, as well as new features in the 'Career Mode', this year's FIFA is EA's most complete entry in the series to date. Although not a bad thing, the differences between FIFA's 17 and 18 regarding AI behaviour adapting during a match is less noticeable. Games are slow and play out similarly to FIFA 17, with an emphasis on possession being the key to unlock defences. However, one welcome change I found is how teams react to falling a goal or two behind. One gripe I have of FIFA games is how the AI responds to conceding early on. Teams tend to go kamikaze, prematurely piling men forward leaving gaps in defence. This behaviour is common at the latter stages of a real match but not early on. With FIFA 18, teams do seem less partial to keep throwing men forward nonsensically when falling behind, now only doing so when time is running out or the possibility of a comeback is likely. Quite simply, as a match nears its conclusion, pressing the R2 button brings up a small box where you can substitute a tiring player with a positional like–for–like replacement instead of pausing ... Rather than just contributing to the development of society, one can confidently conclude that technology is the cause for the growth of society. From the stone tools of humanity's early ancestors to the mechanization of industry and the development of modern tools, like the internet, technology has been the driving force for societal change. The ability to make tools gave early humans the evolutionary advantage to rise to the top of the food chain and displayed the advance of society through improvements in technology. From the telephone to the recent advent of the internet, a trend in technological advancement spanning the past century has been increasing the speed of information transfer and, in a sense, narrowing the communication gap. A similarity between the introduction of the telephone and the advent of the internet is that both inventions introduced dramatically faster forms of communication compared to the predominant technology of the time, leading to more efficient communication both on a person–to–person basis and between businesses and their employees. A key difference between the two, however, has been the internet's influence on information accessibility. Contrary to popular belief, literacy rates have improved with the introduction of the internet. This is because the leisure activities available on the internet are predominantly text–based. Even if the content is mundane or otherwise trivial, like a Facebook status, it still utilizes an individual's reading ability, and allows people to practice and maintain their reading skills well after their education is completed. After gaining political independence from Malaysia in 1965, Singapore experienced a phase of rapid industrialization based on export–oriented manufacturing by foreign MNCs. The approach was to offer MNCs favourable conditions to locate in Singapore, with a view to increase overall skills and technological capabilities. • 30. Technology And Technology : Today 's Youth 's Lives Technology appears more and more in today's youth's lives. Add this to the advent of the smartphone as a staple in households with 91% of adolescents using modern technology (computers, phones, etc.) regularly, it is easy to see why teachers and parents feel their students know more about technology then they do (). This mentality, however, leads adults to the critical error of assuming children do not need to be taught technology if anything adults should be using technology to teach. As the article "Even Digital Natives' Need Digital Training" elaborates students today lack important skills in online etiquette, safety, and productivity that must be addressed by the educational system. If it is not, adolescents can harm themselves (McNeill). With this in mind, the described digital problem, the actual student risk, and the simple teacher solution shows that students are more than technology fools but still technology learners. Today, technology fools or technology geniuses seem to be the divided in opinion. As the article, "Even 'Digital Natives' need Digital Training" says most adults are allowing children access to media devices at sooner and sooner (McNeill). This is turn, leads children to become better and better at technology at older ages because they have more years of experience. Leading adults to the belief that children know more and more about technology then they do so they see students as technology geniuses that need these devices in the classroom, this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my own opinion the transfer price that Kamp should insist on for the Type 2A engine now is €3450 per unit. This is using the principle of the minimum transfer price which is the variable cost plus the profit if it sells its engines externally then adds the cost of €200 of developing the Type 2A engine. However in the future the price may increase because fixed cost will be added as capacity may become a problem with the expected rise of demand for cars and engines, and also if Kamp is allowed to sell externally the type 2, 3, and 4 engines, so the price in the future should be €4750. The proposed transfer price now is also lower than the expected prices from Black and FER so it should not be a problem with Guy Mercier who is pressuring Kamp to sell the engine at a reasonable price so that he can raise profit and bonus for his division. Problem No. 2 Please discuss the possibilities of increasing Kamp's profit by using the formula for basic cost per unit

  • 33. Technology Transfers: Developing Renewable Energy Sources... Technology Transfers: Putting Theory into Practice Climate change is an increasingly demanding issue as global population continues to grow, energy sources are being depleted and cooperation between actors to take action is often difficult to enforce. Renewable energy is a growing technology. With the depletion of fossil fuels as well as increased greenhouse gases in the atmosphere due to fossil fuel burning, energy dependency will have to shift to renewable technologies such as solar photovoltaic, wind, hydroelectric and geothermal. Unfortunately, these technologies are expensive and building new or altering old plants to allow for their use is costly. Because developing countries are in transition and have a growing energy demand, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These projects must transfer cleaner technology as well as foster sustainable development in Non Annex I countries. In Joint Implementation, both countries participating are committed to reductions under the Protocol (Cullet, 175). Flexible mechanisms lessen the financial burden of lowering emissions for Annex I countries and also involve developing nations in the international effort to reduce greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Non– Annex I countries must be begin to adhere to the emission regulations of the Kyoto Protocol. In theory, technology transfers through Cleaner Development Mechanisms and Joint Implementations are an effective way to introduce cleaner technology, aiding both developing and developed countries; developing countries gain new knowledge and different techniques to shift their dependency away from nonrenewable energy sources and developed countries adhere to Kyoto provisions. This exchange is necessary and appears to be flawless, yet such transfers must be closely regulated to ensure the livelihoods of the people in developing nations rather than the economic benefits such actions will have for private corporations. Economic and social security must be granted to the developing countries in order for this mechanism to be followed and agreed upon. • 34. The Exciting Program For The Creation Of Digital Art There is a wide variety of exciting programs available for the creation of digital art. From desktop applications to mobile apps, Creative Cloud carries an assortment of digital art applications. Some programs focus on more specific mediums such as unique drawings, picture improvements, or website designs. Adobe Illustrator (Ai) is a digital drawing program, in Creative Cloud, that allows users to create drawings for personal or industrial use. For example, the Enterprise High School art class once used Adobe Illustrator to create t–shirt designs for a local competition. Other computer programs have been developed over the years, the main provider being Adobe Creative Cloud which contains both desktop and mobile applications. Although, Adobe Creative Cloud and Autodesk are more popular tools for digital art there are other applications unrelated to them just as exceptional. In addition, to the ever–changing world of technology, notebooks and sketchbooks have been made so someone can sketch in them, and then transfer the drawing into a digital art application with minimal effort. Prior to this, one would have to draw the picture straight on the device or go through a long grueling and exasperating process to transfer one drawing. For this reason, a company by the name of Moleskin created these sketchbooks and notebooks that are so incredibly, wonderful to use. Thus, broadening the horizon of possible ways to create digital art with the use of a smart phone, laptop, tablet, and now sketchbooks it can be created anywhere at any time. The simplicity of digital art programs excites anyone with an imagination to create art endlessly. It has become the art of the future because it is a way to create art in a non–chaotic way. Eubanks' lecture emphasized how new data systems regulate and disciple the poor in the United States. She conducted research in the YWCA community which is a home to many poor and working class women. In addition, her lecture began by discussing the history of the Poorhouse and then further discussed how technology disadvantages the homeless/poor. Notably, "the Federal government may receive title to any subject invention" when either the university does not elect to retain rights or fails to comply with any of these obligations. This right secures the federal government a "nonexclusive, nontransferable, irrevocable, paid–up license to practice or have practiced for on behalf of the United States . . . throughout the world." This was particularly important for any military and energy research grants. Second, to ensure a maximum benefit to the public, drafters included a federal "March–in Right". If a university "has not taken, or is not expected to take within a reasonable time, effective steps to achieve practical application of the subject invention[,]" the government may invoke its march–in right. • 38. Technology Development Life Cycle ( Tdlc ) Introduction When explaining the technology development life cycle (TDLC), it is necessary to include the technology transfer process (TTP) and the funding sources that are out there. Without discussing all three of these areas it would be difficult to understand how an idea for an invention makes it to being a household item. The role of the TDLC is to show how a technology develops during each of the five stages. The TTP shows how the technology transitions between these stages when ownerships of the project changes. Lastly, where the funding comes from and why investors stop investing. Technology Development Life Cycle The TDLC consists of five steps: basic research, proof–of–concept, early– stage technology development (ESTD), product development, and production (Branscomb, 2002). These five steps help illustrate what is required for a technology to go from its basic research stage to being put on the market. In its early stages, the technology is used to develop an idea and prove that it can be done. Take Graphene for example, the basic research of this technology would have included identifying its properties to determine if it is a flexible material (Chaochen, Tao, Jiangang, Qinghua, Sen, Haibin, & Haimei, 2015). Then the proof of concept would be showing that graphene is a flexible substance that can potentially be incorporated into devices to increase their durability (Chaochen, et. al., 2015). The third step, ESTD, is where a business case would be made that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. How Useful Should The Government Monitor The Internet? "In today’s society, many advances in technology have taken into effect, affecting almost every person in the world. One popular advance in technology is the invention and mass use of the Internet. Currently, more than three billion people are using the Internet on a daily basis for either personal and business usages. The Internet, today, allows users to transfer large amounts of information across great distances in a fraction of a second. The information that they transfer into the Internet can range from educational, businesses, political, entertainment, social networking, to world security purposes. Because the Internet has become the primary source of communication in our society, the government feels obligated to control the contents of information distributed throughout the interweb. The question is to what extent in the U.S. should the government be able to monitor internet content. To begin with, the Internet is a great embodiment of the First Amendment, which is the freedom of speech. It is a place where people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another reason for the government to intervene is to regulate explicit content, such as horrid violence and pornography. Because many of the users, today, are in a younger age group, they can become mentally affected by this type of explicit content, as they continue to grow and develop. Background & Research Over the past several years, many, if not all, academic research institutions have felt the pinch of declining federal dollars towards basic science research. The primary federal U.S. funder of biomedical research is the National Institutes of Health (NIH). However, the NIH budget is not what it used to be; the budget has decreased by more than 20 percent since 2004 immediately preceding an upward boom from 1998 to 2003 (NPR, 2014; graph in Appendix A). In 2012, approximately 16 percent of scientists with large NIH grants lost them the following year which left about 3,500 U.S. scientists, including researchers at Johns Hopkins University, in need of alternative sources of funding (NPR, 2014). In 1980, a congressional act, the Bayh–Dole or Patent and Trademark Law Amendments Act, granted academic research institutions the right to patent protect novel discoveries and ...
