How Organizations Have Used Industrial Organizational...
Introduction: Employees form the basis of a successful organization, and the abilities and behavior
of workers can vary the performance of an organization significantly. Certain job are unique in
nature and require specific skill sets; Therefore, selecting the right candidate is essential in the
hiring process. The selection processes is designed to seek out the most qualified candidate to
accomplish the requirements of the position. Whether it is from one simple phone interview or
multiple interviews with different managers of the company. There are an innumerable number of
selection methods that are used for recruitment, selection and training process of employees. This
essay aims to expound on two real–world examples of how organizations have used industrial–
organizational psychology to select and train employees; namely, the United States Marine Corps
(USMC) and the State Police Department. In doing so, an examination of the methods used to
measure the levels of success of each training program. Lastly, a discussion of any legal or ethical
concerns that may arise in the implementation of each training program.
An example of how organizations have used industrial–organizational psychology to select and train
employees are the Department of Defense's (DoD) use of an industrial–organizational psychologist
to assist with the hiring and training of military personnel in the United States Marine Corps. United

Intelligence Reform And Terrorism Case Study
Abstract The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 is a 235–page Act of
Congress, signed by the president affecting the United States laws of federal terrorism. The titles
and subject issues were composed to better enforce the procedures for any future terrorist's attacks.
The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act established the Director of National
Intelligence, the National Counterterrorism Center, and the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight
Board. This act also states that the Homeland Security is to take charge of flights both foreign and
domestic for all information on passengers and crew for individuals on the Federal Government

Critical Reasoning And Battle Analysis
Critical Reasoning and Battle Analysis: The Battle of Inchon
SFC Anderson, Phillip
SLC Class 15–004, 5th Platoon
ABSTRACT
Intelligence gathering and collection in the United States has significantly increased over time. This
paper examines how intelligence reporting and pre–mission planning was crucial to the success of
the United Nations involvement at The Battle of Inchon during the Korean War. By examining how
intelligence played a role in this battle, you will be able to understand why it is important to gather
and collect intelligence prior to every mission executed. Intelligence collection should be the
baseline for all military operations. Inchon Landing has an ample amount of actionable intelligence;
collected and disseminated appropriately we will discuss how it played a role in a low probability
mission accomplishment to the last great amphibious assault in history. This paper provides detailed
explanations on why The Battle of Inchon was a success and what could have been the outcome had
it gone the other way.
Keywords: Inchon, mission planning, strategic preparation, valuable intelligence
THESIS STATEMENT
The landing at Inchon during the Korean War was a strategic turning point for the securing of the
southern Korean capital of Seoul. Had it not been for mission planning, strategic preparation, and
valuable intelligence gathering by the Army, Air Force, Marines, and Navy, the Battle of Inchon
would not have been a success. If

Information Sharing Between The Intelligence Community
Introduction According to a white paper conducted by the Intelligence Committee of the Armed
Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA), both law enforcement and
intelligence organizations recognize the need to collaborate, share, and exchange information.
However, the events leading up to 9/11 document how the legal and artificial boundaries between
them created a serious impediment to protecting the country. First this paper will discuss some of
the reasoning and initiatives behind the development of information sharing between the
Intelligence Community (IC) and law enforcement agencies; and this paper will also discuss the
similarities and difference between Title 50 United States Code (U.S.C.) intelligence activities to
law enforcement information gathering/sharing. Apparently, the consensus is that, the IC and the
law enforcement agencies need to share more information, that include operational strategies and
tactics–especially those focused on transnational issues such as terrorism, drugs,
counterintelligence, and weapons of mass destruction–needed to be better integrated. In hopes of
improving information sharing between the IC and law enforcement agencies, Congress passed the
Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 (IRTPA), and also established a new
position of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI). The position of DNI replaced the Director of
the Central Intelligence (DCI) as the senior intelligence official, head of the

The Qualities Of Marine Corps Drill
According to well–respected Evangelical pastor and author, Richard Warren, "Great leaders inspire.
They maintain a hopeful attitude, even in the face of discouraging setbacks, constant criticism and
abundant opposition. People don't follow discouraged leaders. They follow those who persist with
hope." In every situation, the ultimate purpose of leadership is to influence others to accomplish a
shared goal. In order to be an effective leader, one must possess certain key traits. These traits
include: intelligence, self–confidence, determination, integrity, and sociability (trait approach). I am
of the firm belief that some of these characteristics can be learned and developed through human
interaction and experiences. This is contrary to trait theory which states that leaders are born with
inherent characteristics which facilitate leadership (Northouse). In the military, there are specific
personality leadership traits. As highlighted in "The Marines" documentary, these traits include tact,
dependability, trust, enthusiasm, courage, and loyalty. This paper will discuss the traits of Marine
Corps Drill Instructors and point out how these traits would apply in the civilian workplace. Marine
Corps Drill Instructors exemplifies team, style, authentic, servant and transformational leadership.
In the team leadership model, the leader is able to identify an issue of the team and take the
necessary steps to correct the issue. As stated by Northouse, "A team is a specific type of

Quadrennial Defense Review Paper
Introduction The Armed Forces of the United States stand at an inflection point. Fourteen years of
sustained combat forged a seasoned force capable of success across the range of military operations
from military engagement to joint and multinational major combat operations. Today, this seasoned
force is tasked to reset from a decade plus of counterinsurgency operations and evolve capability
and capacity to defend the Nation from an increasingly complex security environment. Furthermore,
this transformation must be completed in the face of a stark fiscal federal budget. Shaping the
operational environment through Security Cooperation to prevent and deter conflict is a critical
function of this transformation. SC has a long standing tradition ... Show more content on

This level of partnership is critical in building relationships, improving interoperability and
demonstrating commitment to our partners; however, the program operates at the tactical level. In
2012, I Corps was assigned to USPACOM, signifying the global importance of a region that spans
half the globe. The I Corps operational approach emphasizes the ability to serve as an operational–
level headquarters to command and control joint and multinational forces at the operational level.
For example, during Talisman Sabre 2013, I Corps was in command of "two U.S. National Guard
Divisions, the Australian 1st Division, the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, and the 4th Brigade
(Airborne) of the 25th Infantry Division." In addition to Talisman Sabre 2013, I Corps developed
and tested Pacific Pathways, which is a model similar to the Marines' UDP. I Corps will deploy a
HQs, tactical force, with an aviation detachment and enablers will deploy to the USPACOM AOR to
participate in exercises and to respond to a contingency. Therefore, the regional alignment of I

The United States Code ( U.s. )
The United States Code (U.S.C.) "establishes and governs the form, function, duties, and
responsibilities of the US Government". The foundational to US National Security and foreign
relations are based on the three titles in the U.S.C, namely, Title 10, Title 22, and Title 50; which
"govern US Armed Forces, the Department of State, public diplomacy efforts, and national defense"
(American Security Project, 2012). However, the National Security Act of 1947 was the first U.S.
law on the conduct of intelligence operations. The act established the Central Intelligence Agency
"to collect, analyze, evaluate, and disseminate foreign intelligence to assist the President and senior
US government policymakers in making decisions relating to national security" (Central
Intelligence Agency (2013). This intelligence law help to define the roles of policymakers,
(Executive Branch oversight, and Congressional oversight) while making decisions relating to
national security; and also defined the scope and functions of intelligence community. For instance,
the President who is the head of the executive branch and commander in chief has the authority to
direct military operations and intelligence activities against external threats resides in his
Constitutional executive and commander–in–chief powers (Wall, 2011).
However, Congress has an oversight power over the president intelligence collection power and
activities. Article I, Section 8, paragraph 18 of the United States constitution and

The movement to the road intersection at CP Charlie was uneventful and took less than ten minutes.
The squad had manned the post before and was familiar with the routine. Pre–staged barricades
were quickly moved into place to secure the street to vehicular traffic and a triple strand of
concertina was strung in order to control pedestrian movement. Corporal Sley and his fire team
moved a hundred meters north and established an Observation Post (OP) on the roof of a two–story
building that afforded excellent fields of view. By 0700, the squad was in position. At that hour, the
city was still quiet, and except for the intel report concerning OWETA activity, there was no
evidence that this day would be any different from the previous. The Marines of 1st Squad settled in
for another long hot day of tedious duty.

questions may also not be enough to be either a SEAL or Marine. Not many people know this, but
Navy SEALs undergo the most rigorous military training known to man. SEAL training is
considered harder than any other nation's special forces training. Likewise, the United States Marine
Corps (USMC), the most revered branch of the military, also trains hard preparing future "Devil
Dog's" (motivational nickname for Marines) to defend our country starting with 12 strenuous weeks
of boot camp. Both Marines and SEALs put their lives on the line to defend our way of life, but
what makes them different? A better question might be what doesn't make them different from each
other. Many people may think that they both fight in combat, they both train for multiple months
and they both are in the military, and each is trained to be a shooter first, so they must be similar.
This is not the case. Both groups do have many similarities, but also plenty of differences in size,
training, schooling, roots/history, requirements, uses in the past and strategies.

The Intelligence Community Of The United States
The intelligence community of the United States is a large, robust and bureaucratic system. From
this community though, the national objectives of the United States are supported through their
gathering and analytical capabilities. The following paper will highlight the intelligence agencies of
the Federal government as well as state and local agencies that make up the intelligence community.
Within these entities are programs that develop intelligence for use in protecting the homeland as
well as analyzing intelligence from across the broad intelligence community spectrum. Along with
this information, an overview of the 9/11 Commissions report on intelligence sharing
recommendations will be looked at. Finally the domestic and foreign intelligence issue will be
defined and addressed. From these discussions the overall capabilities and limitations of intelligence
and the intelligence community will be seen through the aspect of supporting the efforts of securing
the homeland. The overall picture of intelligence community, in regards to departments at the
national level, can be surmised as large and robust. The intelligence community at the national level
is comprised of 16 separate agencies that all develop and support their own objectives. The Office of
the Director Of National Intelligence (ODNI) oversees the 16 agencies, which make up the national
intelligence agencies. The Director of National Intelligence (DNI) heads this. Under the DNI are

The United States Intelligence Community
Within the United States Intelligence Community (IC) there are a variety of sources and means with
which intelligence information can be collected. Jeffrey T. Richelson, the author of The U.S.
Intelligence Community states that ?Collection activity can take any of several overlapping forms:
open source collection, clandestine collection, human source collection and interrogation, and
technical collection.? 1 These areas that Richelson refers to can be broken down into the following
disciplines: open source intelligence (OSINT), Human Intelligence (HUMINT), Imagery
Intelligence (IMINT), Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) and Measurement and Signature Intelligence
(MASINT). OSINT is the collection of intelligence readily available to the public, such as
magazines, online databases, radio broadcasts and newspapers. HUMINT encompasses information
gleaned from clandestine, human source and interrogation methods. And IMINT, SIGINT, and
MASINT encapsulate the disciplines under technical collection. With each intelligence collection
method there are both positives and negatives to consider ? some come with great risks, but
potentially yield great rewards and some come with low risks, but need to be collected as part of an
overall, holistic campaign and then analyzed extensively to yield palatable results.
The collection of open source intelligence (OSINT) involves the exploitation of materials that are
readily available to the public. According to InfoSec Institute, traditional

Most of my service in the United States Marine Corps was spent overseas in Japan and in the
Republic of Korea. During this time, I was a recognised weapons expert responsible for the training

In addition, I worked in legal administration where I would assist the Japanese Government,
military police, and the Judge Advocate General's Corps in information gathering for the use of
senior officers and courts martial. This position offered a unique perspective on international law as
I had to examine the Japan Status of Forces Agreement in conjunction with the Uniform Code of

Countering Global Threats On U.s. National Interests Essay
Countering emerging threats to U.S. national interests requires a rebalancing of the current U.S.
Joint Force strategic capabilities. This rebalancing requires a widening of our current engineering
and technological capabilities as relates to our adversaries capabilities while simultaneously
enhancing our land force deterrent capability in order to project U.S. power worldwide. This paper
will discuss pressing future challenges, and how Joint Force 2025 must prepare for them. Based on
our current strategic direction and today's global security environment, discussion will revolve
around the general capability requirements for Joint Force 2025 to re–balance the force. It will also
explain, by service, the capability requirements while considering the associated advantages and
disadvantages of these requirements. This essay also articulates the risks involved in rebalancing
Joint Force 2025 within the context of a fiscally constrained budget environment. Currently, the
Joint Force is facing multi–faceted challenges at varying levels. Joint Force is facing adversaries
that are appropriating and adopting U.S. technologies. As a result, space and cyberspace are no
longer Joint Force advantages. The implementation of anti–access/area denial (A2/AD) capabilities
in response to this appropriation creates huge cost burdens associated with reducing or diminishing
the desired results. Globalization has intensified the need for U.S. global security leadership to

During this type of warfare, the enemy may have already infiltrated, destroyed, or damaged a

These activities achieve the overarching effects of building trust and confidence within the local
populace to foster support for our efforts. Additionally, air assets bring tremendous combat power to
the irregular warfare fight. An assortment of ordnance i.e.; precision guided munitions, rapid
insertion and extraction methods, and troop and equipment transport enable our forces to quickly

Intelligence and Homeland Security: Capabilities and Limitations in Mission Support 1
Introduction
To understand the relationship between Intelligence and Homeland Security it is imperative to
understand the histories, unique mission differences, and agencies and departments that align under
the primary umbrella of both Intelligence and Homeland Security.
From an historical perspective, protecting the United States from invasive action from hostile
enemies and gathering the intelligence to successfully complete that mission began during the
formative years of our Country.
The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) defines three key cornerstones that define the intelligence
discipline. These are: Collection of Foreign Intelligence, Counterintelligence, and Covert Action.
The Central Intelligence agency published a document referencing three key individuals of the
Revolutionary War Period that have been identified as the "Founding Fathers of American
Intelligence." (Rose, 2017). George Washington is considered the Father of Acquisition of Foreign
Intelligence. Washington was exceptionally skillful in intelligence gathering, beginning in 1753
when as a 21–year–old he was sent to evaluate the French Military gathered there, and determine
what imminent plans the French military had in response the British efforts to colonize the area they
had commandeered. In 1776 Washington established Knowlton's Rangers, the first special

Why Do Women Belonf In Combat
Jocelyne Young Sime Dimou
Alice Royer
English 015
May 5, 2014
Why women belong in combat. Women in combat are female soldiers assigned to combat positions.
History suggests that the combat positions were initially assigned to male individuals. Over time,
however, individual women serving in combat were usually disguised as men or in leadership
positions as queens e.g. queen Boudicca. She led the Britons against Rome. Also, Joan of arc is a
famous example. In the WWII (Second World War), hundreds of thousands of German and British
women soldiers served in combat roles but only in anti–aircraft units. It is in these positions that
they shot down hundreds of enemy fliers.
These positions were accepted because the women were safe ... Show more content on

Recent studies from Harvard Business School and MIT show that group intelligence of the group
rises when women are on teams. Women contribute a unique level of 'social sensitivity,' the ability
to read the emotions of other people. Social sensitivity is an important skill for military professions
in today's battlefields. Women can be so important in battle. One woman soldier that went to fight in
Iraq said that, "most Iraq men were reluctant to speak to us in fear of the Al–Qaida. So we used Iraq
women, as they were fed up with the violence and chaos in their neighborhoods. We persuaded them
to provide information, though we had to first bridge the gender gap, build/make rapport and earn
their individual trust, all of which took a lot of valuable time" (Denn 34–70).
Having women in military platoons dramatically increases a military's ability to elicit critical
intelligence, which means a mission's failure or success, with lives in the balance. Military forces
should embed an all–female cultural support teams in their units, because all armies need the same
skill set that women are adept at providing. Also, including women in the front–line units would be
seen as more than an exercise in social equality. This would be a valuable enhancement of military
effectiveness and national security. Women serving in close–combat roles

Dispute Between Japan And China Essay

Dispute in the East China Seas Mr. President it's been an ongoing territorial dispute between Japan
and China over isolated islands and has been going on for decades but lately tensions have
escalated. The problems that had manifested are the control for the maritime resources, the military
balance of power in Asia. Also, we know the distrust between Japan and China because of activism,
and the need for power. We should get involved because these are our allies and we don't want china
to take advance of japan because their military is more strong and advance. Rightful these islands
belong to Japan because we took it from them as post during world war 2. China's leaders are
hoping to increase their military more in the east china seas. Because we are the united states of
America will have to do something I think we should let these countries share these islands and to
make sure one country don't try to take control one the islands we send more navy sailors to sail the
water to make sure these countries are comprosiming. We can't let them work it out because we did
that for years and the situation is getting worse, china military is advance rapidly and because japan
changed their constitution, them spend more money on their self–defense force. We can't sit back
and do nothing so we should do something before their military forces get stronger. We already have

Intelligence During The Cold War
Many regard, the function of the U.S. intelligence activity today is the product of the Cold War. It is
true in a way. Historically, intelligence played a key role to provide military supports to the U.S.
forces and helped shape U.S. foreign policies of the past and present. In fact, intelligence has been
the function of the U.S. government "since the founding of the Republic." (Fas.org n.d., Para 1) If
we go back to the history records, we can see George Washington, after he took the command of the
Continental Army in 1775, paid one of his agents to live in Boston and spy on the British troops'
movements. (Ibid, Para 2)
Over time, intelligence took various shapes and changed its incarnations. For example, during the
Cold War, both the United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, during the Cold War and the time before that, human intelligence (HUMINT) played a
significant role in intelligence collections. After the Cold War, in the intelligence world, TECHINT
gained more popularity over HUMINT. For example, in the 1990s, U.S. government cut budget on
HUMINT. After this, human intelligence went through a major period of retraction and
reconstruction. Lack of funding in human authority in the intelligence community put HUMINT in a
dark phase after the Cold War. Thus, the size of HUMINT shrank in the U.S. intelligence
community. With the starting of the Desert Storm in 1990, this changed many things in the U.S.
intelligence community. Many important operations took place after that, such as military operations
in Somalia and Kosovo. In all those operations, technology became vital and played key roles over
human intelligence. With the introduction of the internet in the 1990s, technology changed the
landscape of the intelligence world. After 9/11, more than HUMINT, intelligence analysts and
operators brought GEOINT and SIGINT to their laptops to collect intelligence in remote areas and
far away from home. Nowadays, more than HUMINT, we can see UAVs (Unmanned Aerial
vehicles) loitering over targets for hours and them sending intelligence signals and full motion
videos to the U.S. Intelligence communities. Intelligence analysts, more than HUMINT (nowadays),
use numerous sophisticated database systems and GEOINT to build all source fusion products. With
America taking part in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan (largely pushed by the U.S. intelligence
communities), in the modern day intelligence world, this thing pushed technology/TECHINT in a
completely new level in gathering enemy intelligence and carrying out espionage against them.

Rc-12 Guardrail Essay
The need for accurate and timely intelligence is essential to intelligence collection. The military
continues research to improve near real–time intelligence platform. The end state is to minimize the
amount of time between collection and analysis. After the Vietnam War, the National Security
Agency found the need for a mobile communications intelligence (COMINT) platform . A platform
that could communicate with ground stations. RC–12 Guardrail (GR) would forever change how the
military collected COMINT.
GR was first employed in 1971 to monitor troop movements in East Germany and Czechoslovakia.
Before 1971, the military used COMINT ground stations to collect signals intelligence and conduct
direction finding. Ground stations operated in hostile areas often putting Soldiers in harm's way.
Although airborne COMINT assets were available, they required a low altitude fly over target areas
to collect intelligence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the near term, GR will continue to monitor the DMZ and provide collection in Operation
Resolute Support. As collection assets withdraw from Afghanistan, the Army will rely heavily on
GR to maintain situational awareness of the threats surrounding coalition forces. In the next 10
years, GR will remain the premier multi–INT airborne platform for the Army. Northrupp will most
likely continue to develop GR to close the gap between near–real time collection and analysis. GR
provides data to the Operational Ground System (OGS) along with 8 other airborne ISR platforms.
Because of the OGS capability, analyst now have access to the data faster than before. As the
complexities of the operational environment rise, the demand for real–time intelligence will
continue to increase. Platforms such as GR will continue to make it possible for intelligence
professionals to provide commanders with an accurate picture of the

Gen Mattis Leadership Traits
Leadership: General James "Mad Dog" Mattis
Leaders and leadership are what an organization or group needs in order to be successful and
effective. The definition of leadership according to the text is "the use of power and influence to
direct the activities of followers toward goal achievement" (Colquitt, LePine, & Wesson, 2017, p.
467). Within an organization or group a leader can exhibit many different styles of leadership or a
combination of styles in order to be an effective leader. While there is no true recipe on how to
become an effective leader, there are some key characteristics and traits that all leaders exhibit. The
emergent leader is linked to numerous traits, which are conscientiousness, agreeableness, openness,

Mattis is seen as a successful leader, he like all human beings has his weaknesses. As Gen. Mattis
was promoted through the ranks, he tried to stay out of the public eye and media because he felt that
his main concern was the mission and training Marines. However, as general in it is inevitable to
stay out of the media because many questions arise when it comes to military tactics and rules of
engagement. At times Gen. Mattis has been verbally aggressive and hostile, which is consider
neuroticism or negative affectivity. Neuroticism as negative affectivity is a "dispositional tendency
to experience unpleasant moods such as hostility, nervousness, and annoyance"(Colquitt, et al.,
2017, p.277). As a leader having low neuroticism is essential; however, when situations get tense
this trait can be disregarded. For instance, Gen. Mattis has been ridiculed as a leader for saying
violent and non–sympathetic words. In a interview Gen. Mattis said "Be polite, be professional, but
have a plan to kill everybody you meet" (Fisher, 2010). While he is a combat veteran that has been
to war multiple times Gen. Mattis has been rebuke a number of times for his aggressive and hostile
nature. While these events have been displayed in media, Gen. Mattis stands by words and is not

American History Retells World War II
American history retells World War II (WWII) stories about heroes, and their contribution to the
success in ending the conflict between Japan and the United States (U.S.). The U.S. Military's
attempt to seize key islands in the South Pacific seem futile as Japanese Imperial Intelligence Teams
(JIIT) monitored U.S. communications systems. Messages intercepted by the JITT compromised
U.S. Military synchronization activities, putting their efforts and the lives of American Soldier's at
risk. The Navajo Code Talker program is the U.S. Marine Corps' solution to secure communications.
World War I (WWI) introduced the concept of securing lines of communication with a foreign
language not used by both sides during the war. Innovative combat Commanders utilized Native
Americans and their language within their ranks to send secure message. These Native
transmissions had flaws. The messages transmitted in the native language did not have a coded
format. Military terms for rank, weapons, and vehicles also did not exist in the Native vocabulary.
At the conclusion of WWI, the Germans identified the Native American tribes by their language
used during the war, exploiting and deterring any further similar attempts to secure messages. The
U.S. Military ceased further improvements into the augmentation of native languages and radio
communication.
The U.S. Military, struggling with a communication disadvantage in the early stages of WWII
proposed to employ Native Americans and their language

Conclusion
Introduction
Analysis is important. The statement assessed impresses that fact upon the reader. Without it, the
speaker implies, Intelligence is inefficient. It is merely 'information'. For the intelligence
community, it seems that information alone is not enough to be presented as a finished product to a
policy maker. Information alone is also not enough to represent the 'reality' of the world. Especially,

The words intelligence, information, and analysis may be considered to mean generally the same
thing. They are all words we often associate with cognitive functions and thought processes. The
phrase needs to be taken apart and examined as small portions before being put back together as a
whole sentence. In this manner, understanding may be gained from looking at the meanings of the
words themselves. This will help justify the meaning and importance of analysis as a defined term
as well as a process in the intelligence cycle.
Setting the context of Military or Governmental Intelligence aside, it is important to grasp that the
word Intelligence is a word commonly used to define a mental process. Intelligence is a term, when
used on a person, that is complimentary and often implies that the person has a substantial amount
of knowledge and knows how to express it in a productive manner. This having been said, it is
perhaps simpler to take the words 'information' and 'analysis' and see how they are associated with
the term 'intelligence'.

The Second Battle Of Fallujah
The Second Battle of Fallujah was fought during November and December of
2004. The U.S. Marine Corps against insurgents that had taken over the city of
Fallujah led the battle. The Second Battle of Fallujah was a joint offensive operation
that included the American, British, and Iraqi forces. The Second Battle of Fallujah
was also known as Operation Phantom Fury and code–named Operation Al–Fajr,
which is Arabic for "the dawn". Operation Phantom Fury was the second major
operation in the city of Fallujah, following the First Battle of Fallujah, which took
place in April of 2004. During the first battle, the coalition forces fought into the city
and the Iraqi government requested that the control of the city be transferred to an

The Genesis Of The Business Model Canvas
The genesis of the Business Model Canvas (BMC) consists of nine building blocks that describe a
business model. They are: Customer Segments, Value Propositions, Customer Relationships,
Channels, Revenue Streams, Key Partners, Key Activities, Key Resources and Cost Structure.
(Osterwalder, A., Pigneur, Y, 2010) One of the unique features of the approach of the Business
Model Canvas is that this tool allows for easy, visual representation for decision makers to think
about. The tool provides a dissection of the major concerns impacting the business and also
represents the direction the organization is taking through its business model. As author Dan Roam
states, "visual thinking to solve complex problems" is what the BMC is all about. The Business
Model Generation does have it strengths and weaknesses. Perhaps the main asset of the BMC is the
visual illustration. One main drawback is the limited aim of an organization; that is, it targets profit
generation and for non–profit purposes of an organization. The benefits will be touched on below,
but the Osterwalder/Pigneu business model leaves out one key ingredient. Omitting the basic fact
that competition is not mentioned in this theory seems to be a glaring omission. Advancement
springs from competition and so does better customer service. In our reading, the business model
canvas is a great tool that fosters "understanding, discussions, creativity and analysis." The nine
basic blocks demonstrate

Traits Of Military Leaders Vs Corporate Leaders
Traits of Military Leaders vs Corporate Leaders According to well–respected Evangelical pastor and
author, Richard Warren, "Great leaders inspire. They maintain a hopeful attitude, even in the face of
discouraging setbacks, constant criticism and abundant opposition. People don't follow discouraged
leaders. They follow those who persist with hope." In every setting, the ultimate purpose of
leadership is to influence others to accomplish a shared goal. In order to be an effective leader, one
must possess certain key traits. These traits include: intelligence, self–confidence, determination,
integrity, and sociability (trait approach). I am of the firm belief that some of these characteristics
can be learned and developed through human interaction and experiences. This is contrary to trait
theory which states that leaders are born with inherent characteristics which facilitate leadership
(Northouse). In the military, there are specific personality leadership traits. As highlighted in "The
Marines" documentary, these traits include tact, dependability, trust, enthusiasm, courage, and
loyalty. This paper will discuss the leadership styles displayed by Marine Corps Drill Instructors and
point out how the different characteristics of these styles would apply in the civilian workplace.
Marine Corps Drill Instructors exemplify team, style, authentic, transformational, and servant
leadership. In the team leadership model, the leader is able to identify an issue of the team and take

The New World
When the Europeans first arrived in the North American continents, they found hundreds of tribes
occupying a vast and rich land that was now called the new world. To what they had found in
amazement that such a land filled of resources and native people they found to be amazing. They
quickly started to recognized the wealth of the natural resources. What for they came her to find
gold soon turned out to be riches in another form of way. Which now they had an opportunity to
start a new life. However, they did not, so quick or willing to recognize the culture and the spiritual
way of the people and intellectual riches of the people they called Indians.
In the early nineteenth century, Navajos lived in what is now New Mexico in an area that was under
Spanish colonial rule. Navajos lived too far from the colonists, who were concentrated in the upper
Rio Grande Valley, to be subjected to the disruption of their lives that the Pueblos suffered at the
hands of the Spanish. At times the Navajos were allied with the Spanish against other Indians,
principally the Utes; other times the Spanish joined forces with the Utes and fought the Navajos. For
the Navajos, the most important by–product of Spanish colonization in New Mexico was the
introduction of horses and sheep; the smooth, long–staple, non–oily wool of the Spanish churro
sheep would prove ideal for weaving. When the United States claimed that it had acquired an

  • 3. Critical Reasoning And Battle Analysis Critical Reasoning and Battle Analysis: The Battle of Inchon SFC Anderson, Phillip SLC Class 15–004, 5th Platoon ABSTRACT Intelligence gathering and collection in the United States has significantly increased over time. This paper examines how intelligence reporting and pre–mission planning was crucial to the success of the United Nations involvement at The Battle of Inchon during the Korean War. By examining how intelligence played a role in this battle, you will be able to understand why it is important to gather and collect intelligence prior to every mission executed. Intelligence collection should be the baseline for all military operations. Inchon Landing has an ample amount of actionable intelligence; collected and disseminated appropriately we will discuss how it played a role in a low probability mission accomplishment to the last great amphibious assault in history. This paper provides detailed explanations on why The Battle of Inchon was a success and what could have been the outcome had it gone the other way. Keywords: Inchon, mission planning, strategic preparation, valuable intelligence THESIS STATEMENT The landing at Inchon during the Korean War was a strategic turning point for the securing of the southern Korean capital of Seoul. Had it not been for mission planning, strategic preparation, and valuable intelligence gathering by the Army, Air Force, Marines, and Navy, the Battle of Inchon would not have been a success. If ... • 4. Information Sharing Between The Intelligence Community Introduction According to a white paper conducted by the Intelligence Committee of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA), both law enforcement and intelligence organizations recognize the need to collaborate, share, and exchange information. However, the events leading up to 9/11 document how the legal and artificial boundaries between them created a serious impediment to protecting the country. First this paper will discuss some of the reasoning and initiatives behind the development of information sharing between the Intelligence Community (IC) and law enforcement agencies; and this paper will also discuss the similarities and difference between Title 50 United States Code (U.S.C.) intelligence activities to law enforcement information gathering/sharing. Apparently, the consensus is that, the IC and the law enforcement agencies need to share more information, that include operational strategies and tactics–especially those focused on transnational issues such as terrorism, drugs, counterintelligence, and weapons of mass destruction–needed to be better integrated. In hopes of improving information sharing between the IC and law enforcement agencies, Congress passed the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 (IRTPA), and also established a new position of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI). The position of DNI replaced the Director of the Central Intelligence (DCI) as the senior intelligence official, head of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Qualities Of Marine Corps Drill According to well–respected Evangelical pastor and author, Richard Warren, "Great leaders inspire. They maintain a hopeful attitude, even in the face of discouraging setbacks, constant criticism and abundant opposition. People don't follow discouraged leaders. They follow those who persist with hope." In every situation, the ultimate purpose of leadership is to influence others to accomplish a shared goal. In order to be an effective leader, one must possess certain key traits. These traits include: intelligence, self–confidence, determination, integrity, and sociability (trait approach). I am of the firm belief that some of these characteristics can be learned and developed through human interaction and experiences. This is contrary to trait theory which states that leaders are born with inherent characteristics which facilitate leadership (Northouse). In the military, there are specific personality leadership traits. As highlighted in "The Marines" documentary, these traits include tact, dependability, trust, enthusiasm, courage, and loyalty. This paper will discuss the traits of Marine Corps Drill Instructors and point out how these traits would apply in the civilian workplace. Marine Corps Drill Instructors exemplifies team, style, authentic, servant and transformational leadership. In the team leadership model, the leader is able to identify an issue of the team and take the necessary steps to correct the issue. As stated by Northouse, "A team is a specific type of ... Fourteen years of sustained combat forged a seasoned force capable of success across the range of military operations from military engagement to joint and multinational major combat operations. Today, this seasoned force is tasked to reset from a decade plus of counterinsurgency operations and evolve capability and capacity to defend the Nation from an increasingly complex security environment. The I Corps operational approach emphasizes the ability to serve as an operational– level headquarters to command and control joint and multinational forces at the operational level. For example, during Talisman Sabre 2013, I Corps was in command of "two U.S. National Guard Divisions, the Australian 1st Division, the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, and the 4th Brigade (Airborne) of the 25th Infantry Division." • 8. The United States Code ( U.s. ) The United States Code (U.S.C.) "establishes and governs the form, function, duties, and responsibilities of the US Government". The foundational to US National Security and foreign relations are based on the three titles in the U.S.C, namely, Title 10, Title 22, and Title 50; which "govern US Armed Forces, the Department of State, public diplomacy efforts, and national defense" (American Security Project, 2012). However, the National Security Act of 1947 was the first U.S. law on the conduct of intelligence operations. The act established the Central Intelligence Agency "to collect, analyze, evaluate, and disseminate foreign intelligence to assist the President and senior US government policymakers in making decisions relating to national security" (Central Intelligence Agency (2013). This intelligence law help to define the roles of policymakers, (Executive Branch oversight, and Congressional oversight) while making decisions relating to national security; and also defined the scope and functions of intelligence community. For instance, the President who is the head of the executive branch and commander in chief has the authority to direct military operations and intelligence activities against external threats resides in his Constitutional executive and commander–in–chief powers (Wall, 2011). Charles C. Krulak Operation Absolute Agility 0611: The African sun had just risen above the hills surrounding the sprawling city and sent its already dazzling rays streaming into the dusty alleyway. Corporal Hernandez felt the sun on his face and knew that today would, again, be sweltering. Corporal Sley and his fire team moved a hundred meters north and established an Observation Post (OP) on the roof of a two–story building that afforded excellent fields of view. By 0700, the squad was in position. • 12. Marine Corps ( Usmc ) Would you quit working to obtain something you want if it was just "too hard"? If someone truly believes in a cause then they would give everything to achieve it right? Would you just like to blend in with the crowd or do you want to stick out? If one answered yes to any of the previous questions, then one wouldn't have the characteristics of either a Navy SEAL or Marine. Answering no to all the questions may also not be enough to be either a SEAL or Marine. Not many people know this, but Navy SEALs undergo the most rigorous military training known to man. SEAL training is considered harder than any other nation's special forces training. Likewise, the United States Marine Corps (USMC), the most revered branch of the military, also trains hard preparing future "Devil Dog's" (motivational nickname for Marines) to defend our country starting with 12 strenuous weeks of boot camp. Both Marines and SEALs put their lives on the line to defend our way of life, but what makes them different? A better question might be what doesn't make them different from each other. Many people may think that they both fight in combat, they both train for multiple months and they both are in the military, and each is trained to be a shooter first, so they must be similar. This is not the case. Both groups do have many similarities, but also plenty of differences in size, training, schooling, roots/history, requirements, uses in the past and strategies. HUMINT encompasses information gleaned from clandestine, human source and interrogation methods. And IMINT, SIGINT, and MASINT encapsulate the disciplines under technical collection. With each intelligence collection method there are both positives and negatives to consider ? some come with great risks, but potentially yield great rewards and some come with low risks, but need to be collected as part of an overall, holistic campaign and then analyzed extensively to yield palatable results. From an historical perspective, protecting the United States from invasive action from hostile enemies and gathering the intelligence to successfully complete that mission began during the formative years of our Country. The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) defines three key cornerstones that define the intelligence discipline. These are: Collection of Foreign Intelligence, Counterintelligence, and Covert Action. The Central Intelligence agency published a document referencing three key individuals of the Revolutionary War Period that have been identified as the "Founding Fathers of American Intelligence." History suggests that the combat positions were initially assigned to male individuals. Over time, however, individual women serving in combat were usually disguised as men or in leadership positions as queens e.g. queen Boudicca. She led the Britons against Rome. Also, Joan of arc is a famous example. In the WWII (Second World War), hundreds of thousands of German and British women soldiers served in combat roles but only in anti–aircraft units. Recent studies from Harvard Business School and MIT show that group intelligence of the group rises when women are on teams. Women contribute a unique level of 'social sensitivity,' the ability to read the emotions of other people. Social sensitivity is an important skill for military professions in today's battlefields. Women can be so important in battle. One woman soldier that went to fight in Iraq said that, "most Iraq men were reluctant to speak to us in fear of the Al–Qaida. So we used Iraq women, as they were fed up with the violence and chaos in their neighborhoods. We persuaded them to provide information, though we had to first bridge the gender gap, build/make rapport and earn their individual trust, all of which took a lot of valuable time" (Denn 34–70). Having women in military platoons dramatically increases a military's ability to elicit critical intelligence, which means a mission's failure or success, with lives in the balance. Military forces should embed an all–female cultural support teams in their units, because all armies need the same skill set that women are adept at providing. Also, including women in the front–line units would be seen as more than an exercise in social equality. This would be a valuable enhancement of military effectiveness and national security. Historically, intelligence played a key role to provide military supports to the U.S. forces and helped shape U.S. foreign policies of the past and present. In fact, intelligence has been the function of the U.S. government "since the founding of the Republic." (Fas.org n.d., Para 1) If we go back to the history records, we can see George Washington, after he took the command of the Continental Army in 1775, paid one of his agents to live in Boston and spy on the British troops' movements. For example, during the Cold War and the time before that, human intelligence (HUMINT) played a significant role in intelligence collections. After the Cold War, in the intelligence world, TECHINT gained more popularity over HUMINT. For example, in the 1990s, U.S. government cut budget on HUMINT. After this, human intelligence went through a major period of retraction and reconstruction. Lack of funding in human authority in the intelligence community put HUMINT in a dark phase after the Cold War. Thus, the size of HUMINT shrank in the U.S. intelligence community. With the starting of the Desert Storm in 1990, this changed many things in the U.S. intelligence community. Many important operations took place after that, such as military operations in Somalia and Kosovo. In all those operations, technology became vital and played key roles over human intelligence. With the introduction of the internet in the 1990s, technology changed the landscape of the intelligence world. After 9/11, more than HUMINT, intelligence analysts and operators brought GEOINT and SIGINT to their laptops to collect intelligence in remote areas and far away from home. Nowadays, more than HUMINT, we can see UAVs (Unmanned Aerial vehicles) loitering over targets for hours and them sending intelligence signals and full motion videos to the U.S. Intelligence communities. Intelligence analysts, more than HUMINT (nowadays), use numerous sophisticated database systems and GEOINT to build all source fusion products. With America taking part in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan (largely pushed by the U.S. intelligence communities), in the modern day intelligence world, this thing pushed technology/TECHINT in a completely new level in gathering enemy intelligence and carrying out espionage against them. American History Retells World War II American history retells World War II (WWII) stories about heroes, and their contribution to the success in ending the conflict between Japan and the United States (U.S.). The U.S. Military's attempt to seize key islands in the South Pacific seem futile as Japanese Imperial Intelligence Teams (JIIT) monitored U.S. communications systems. Messages intercepted by the JITT compromised U.S. Military synchronization activities, putting their efforts and the lives of American Soldier's at risk. The Navajo Code Talker program is the U.S. Marine Corps' solution to secure communications. World War I (WWI) introduced the concept of securing lines of communication with a foreign language not used by both sides during the war. Innovative combat Commanders utilized Native Americans and their language within their ranks to send secure message. These Native transmissions had flaws. The messages transmitted in the native language did not have a coded format. Military terms for rank, weapons, and vehicles also did not exist in the Native vocabulary. At the conclusion of WWI, the Germans identified the Native American tribes by their language used during the war, exploiting and deterring any further similar attempts to secure messages. The U.S. Military ceased further improvements into the augmentation of native languages and radio communication. The U.S. Military, struggling with a communication disadvantage in the early stages of WWII proposed to employ Native Americans and their language ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Intelligence Without Analysis is Only Information Essay 'Intelligence without analysis is only information'. Critically assess this claim. Introduction Part 1 – Understanding Semantics Part 2 – Part of the system Part 4 – Analysis as part of the Organisation, a member the community Conclusion Introduction Analysis is important. The statement assessed impresses that fact upon the reader. Without it, the speaker implies, Intelligence is inefficient. It is merely 'information'. For the intelligence community, it seems that information alone is not enough to be presented as a finished product to a policy maker. Information alone is also not enough to represent the 'reality' of the world. Especially, in terms of finding possible threats to national security. The statement implies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The words intelligence, information, and analysis may be considered to mean generally the same thing. They are all words we often associate with cognitive functions and thought processes. The phrase needs to be taken apart and examined as small portions before being put back together as a whole sentence. In this manner, understanding may be gained from looking at the meanings of the words themselves. This will help justify the meaning and importance of analysis as a defined term as well as a process in the intelligence cycle. Setting the context of Military or Governmental Intelligence aside, it is important to grasp that the word Intelligence is a word commonly used to define a mental process. Intelligence is a term, when used on a person, that is complimentary and often implies that the person has a substantial amount of knowledge and knows how to express it in a productive manner. This having been said, it is perhaps simpler to take the words 'information' and 'analysis' and see how they are associated with the term 'intelligence'. Information – Noun 1. A message received and understood that reduces the recipient's uncertainty. 2. A collection of facts from which conclusions may be drawn; "statistical data". 3. Knowledge acquired through study or experience or instruction. 4. (communication theory) a numerical measure of the

The U.S. Marine Corps against insurgents that had taken over the city of Fallujah led the battle. The Second Battle of Fallujah was a joint offensive operation that included the American, British, and Iraqi forces. The Second Battle of Fallujah was also known as Operation Phantom Fury and code–named Operation Al–Fajr, which is Arabic for "the dawn". Operation Phantom Fury was the second major operation in the city of Fallujah, following the First Battle of Fallujah, which took place in April of 2004. During the first battle, the coalition forces fought into the city and the Iraqi government requested that the control of the city be transferred to an Iraqi local security force. Operation Phantom Fury was the deadliest battle of the Iraq War, and was fought mainly against insurgents. Both battles in Fallujah forced the military as a whole to improve on its military operations on urbanized terrain (MOUT). The Second Battle of Fallujah was fought during OIF 2 (Operation Iraqi Freedom). Operation Iraqi Freedom 2 began at about March–April 2004 and lasted until February–March 2005. The Second Battle of Fallujah began 7 November 2004 and ended 23 December 2004. The objective of the operation was to capture or kill those responsible for murders and, corrupt activities, and end the rise of the insurgency in the city. Marine Expeditionary Unit (MAGTF) Present day threats and challenges on a global scale demand a rapid response in support of the National Military Strategy's objectives of "protect the U.S. against external attacks and aggression, prevent conflict and surprise attack, and prevail against adversaries" (National Military Strategy of the United States. Washington, DC: Joint Chiefs of Staff, 2015. Print). (ARG) and Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Team, has been our Nation's force in readiness, capable to deploy within six hours and self–sustain for 15 days in response to global crisis. Unfortunately, at any given time there are usually only two MEUs deployed across the globe. These MAGTFs differ in several ways from a traditional MAGTF. In a traditional MAGTF the GCE is usually the Main Effort or the commander's bid for success. Under a conventional war construct this would also be the case. In irregular warfare or security cooperation, the tasks or missions required, will likely be the capabilities of the LCE. The LCE may be the Main Effort with the ACE and GCE in supporting roles. SPMAGTF–CR–AF and SPMAGTF–CR–CC are forward deployed and conducting Theater Security Cooperation (TSC), when not engaged in Crisis Response. "With the high demand for Marine crisis response capabilities and the shortage of amphibious platforms from which to forward deploy forces, SPMAGTF–CRs were developed. While they don't provide the flexibility and responsiveness of an ARG/MEU, they mitigate a capability gap for the combatant commanders" (MAGTF Expeditionary Operations 8906 Coursebook, Command and Staff College Distance Education Program). Granted a tradition MAGTF could be organized, trained and equipped for crisis response or security cooperation capabilities. However, it is not just the unique capabilities that differentiate these MAGTFs, it is their method of employment by providing limited redundant capability for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Genesis Of The Business Model Canvas The genesis of the Business Model Canvas (BMC) consists of nine building blocks that describe a business model. They are: Customer Segments, Value Propositions, Customer Relationships, Channels, Revenue Streams, Key Partners, Key Activities, Key Resources and Cost Structure. (Osterwalder, A., Pigneur, Y, 2010) One of the unique features of the approach of the Business Model Canvas is that this tool allows for easy, visual representation for decision makers to think about. The tool provides a dissection of the major concerns impacting the business and also represents the direction the organization is taking through its business model. As author Dan Roam states, "visual thinking to solve complex problems" is what the BMC is all about. The Business Model Generation does have it strengths and weaknesses. Perhaps the main asset of the BMC is the visual illustration. One main drawback is the limited aim of an organization; that is, it targets profit generation and for non–profit purposes of an organization. The benefits will be touched on below, but the Osterwalder/Pigneu business model leaves out one key ingredient. Omitting the basic fact that competition is not mentioned in this theory seems to be a glaring omission. Advancement springs from competition and so does better customer service. In our reading, the business model canvas is a great tool that fosters "understanding, discussions, creativity and analysis." The nine basic blocks demonstrate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Traits Of Military Leaders Vs Corporate Leaders Traits of Military Leaders vs Corporate Leaders According to well–respected Evangelical pastor and author, Richard Warren, "Great leaders inspire. They maintain a hopeful attitude, even in the face of discouraging setbacks, constant criticism and abundant opposition. People don't follow discouraged leaders. They follow those who persist with hope." In every setting, the ultimate purpose of leadership is to influence others to accomplish a shared goal. This paper will discuss the leadership styles displayed by Marine Corps Drill Instructors and point out how the different characteristics of these styles would apply in the civilian workplace. Marine Corps Drill Instructors exemplify team, style, authentic, transformational, and servant leadership. In the team leadership model, the leader is able to identify an issue of the team and take ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This film provides many examples of differing cultures as well as illustrating examples of leadership, management, and followership. Many lessons can be learned; standing up for what is right and standing up for what you believe in are apparent, as well as leaders not always making the best decisions. At the end of the day, one must be at peace with the direction of their own moral compass and actions. Culture There were several cultures present in this film, the ones selected for discussion are the culture of the Marines stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and the officers representing the accused as ... Espoused values as illustrated by Schein (2009) are: "strategies, goals, philosophies" (p.21). For the Marines at Guantanamo Bay, their purpose was to provide security for the Unites States of America under the guidance of the commanding officer (Col. Nathan R. Jessep). During the trial, Capt. Jack Ross provided two manuals that Marines are to follow: The Marine Guide and General Information Handbook for New Recruits and The Marine Corps Guide for Sentry Duty at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba which provided the basic outline for Marine actions, responsibilities and duties. As for the lawyers involved, they shared a pre–requisite fundamental knowledge of the law. They all had law degrees as well as being members of the Armed Services. These two cultures, attorney and military produces a unique culture, having its own terminologies and decorum practices. They had specific responsibilities and guidelines that had to be followed, as both council and officers. As for underlying assumptions or shared tacit assumptions, Schein (2009) provides the following description about them: "unconscious, taken for granted belief, perceptions, thought and fillings (ultimate source of values and action)" (p. 21). • 42. The New World When the Europeans first arrived in the North American continents, they found hundreds of tribes occupying a vast and rich land that was now called the new world. To what they had found in amazement that such a land filled of resources and native people they found to be amazing. They quickly started to recognized the wealth of the natural resources. What for they came her to find gold soon turned out to be riches in another form of way. Which now they had an opportunity to start a new life. However, they did not, so quick or willing to recognize the culture and the spiritual way of the people and intellectual riches of the people they called Indians. In the early nineteenth century, Navajos lived in what is now New Mexico in an area that was under Spanish colonial rule. Navajos lived too far from the colonists, who were concentrated in the upper Rio Grande Valley, to be subjected to the disruption of their lives that the Pueblos suffered at the hands of the Spanish. At times the Navajos were allied with the Spanish against other Indians, principally the Utes; other times the Spanish joined forces with the Utes and fought the Navajos. For the Navajos, the most important by–product of Spanish colonization in New Mexico was the introduction of horses and sheep; the smooth, long–staple, non–oily wool of the Spanish churro sheep would prove ideal for weaving. When the United States claimed that it had acquired an interest in Navajo land by having won a war with Mexico in 1848, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
