Copy Editor is Bringing a Story to Print
What a copy editor does with a draft of a story going to print:
––looks for missing words, missing elements of the story, missing attributes. For example, if a
person named James Dodd is mentioned, that person's identity as it relates to the story must be
attached to the name when it is first cited, so that if Dodd, a manager at Hudson's Bay Company, is
quoted again, the reader knows who the person is.
––corrects the lead and adjusts the structure of the story so that, for instance, the paragraphs follow
in logical order and are properly connected to each other. Watch for "buried" leads, i.e. the sentence
that should tell the reader what the story is all about occurs after the lead sentence.
––looks for inconsistencies, eg. proper nouns spelled two different ways. (Always use spell–check
to help locate such inconsistencies.)
––corrects for the publication's style. For instance at the Globe and Mail, copy editors would follow
the Globe's style guide for font style and size, peculiarities of punctuation, upper and lower case,
etc. In most instances the CP style guide will also apply.
––corrects mathematics and geography. In other words, make sure the numbers or percentages add
up. Make sure places – towns, lakes, mountains, whatever –– are properly located according to the
latest maps.
––checks with the writer of the story for anything that is not clear: don't assume you are right and
don't guess. NB It is the writer's responsibility to make sure he/she can be located at a

Reflective Essay On Reading And Writing
It was my second grade year and I was only 7 years old when I first found my hatred for anything
that had to do with reading or writing. Every week my teacher would give us a lengthy list of
vocabulary words that we had to memorize before our spelling test the following week. I would
study for periods at a time trying to memorize these gruesome lists of words that I could never
remember. When it came down to the day of the test I would see all my classmates at ease while I
would panic trying to remember what I studied. When it finally came time to take the test I hear the
teacher call the word "island" but the only thing I could hear was noise In a room full of silence. I
was frustrated I couldn't think, the teacher would ask is everyone ready to move on and I wouldn't
say anything because I was too shy. After a couple of days I would get my score back and would not
be surprised when I found out that I had failed the test. Week after week this became a recurring
theme when I got back my spelling test. Following this experience I accepted the fact that reading
and writing was just (not my thing).
Although my second grade experience was terrible, my third grade year gave me an experience that
I never had with literacy. My teacher would give us a list of words, but instead of us just having to
memorize them. We would have to create a story using these words. This opened my eyes to a part
of literacy that I was never familiar with. I had total creative freedom, ( and I took it

Personal Narrative: My Writing Challenge
This is the 25 minute writing challenge, where I'm not allowed to use the backspace button on my
keyboard or edit what I'm typing. There are probably going to be many typos in this small paper, but
that's apart of the challenge as I can't edit anything. I honestly have no clue what to write about, but
atleast I'm 3 minutes in right now. I didn't realize that this assignment was due on monday, so I've
been accidentally procrastinating on this assignment, and I'm wanting to do this before I go to bed.
I'm still struggling figuring out what I'm going to write about, but I'm going to stall as long as
possible. Everytime that I misspell a word my finger by habit want to use the backspace. This really
makes me appreciate when people had to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I've gotten used to spell check so all I have to do is spell the word somewhat right and then it's
spelled correctly. On the ACT during the writing portion, I struggled to spell words that I used to be
able to spell perfectly. This led to me having to think of other simpler words to spell that I could put
in place of the word I couldn't spell, which took up a lot of time. This also couples with the fact that
I'm not that great at writing. I'm dreading taking more english classes in college as english has
always been my worst subject, and I know that whatever I major in will not require me to take more
english courses as I hate english as a subject. I don't know why I've never taken a liking to english.
If I had to guess it would be all the grammar rules, but I don't think that that's all I dislike about
learning english. Part of it is having to write papers that I have no interest in writing, but I still write
it just so I can get a decent grade in the class. I have no clue when my essay on Of mice and men
will ever come in handy other than to get me a grade in english 9. On top of that, I dislike being
forced to read, and I just dislike reading books in general. I've never come across a book that I've
actually wanted to read. I think this is because I'm a slow reader, and I often find myself zoning out
in the middle of the page, and just staring at the words in

Competency Self Assessment
After taking the study skills test, I feel that my scores reveal that I am proficient in one category but
then satisfactory in every other one. I find that I am proficient at using Google Drive because I got a
12/12 in that category. I always keep my Google Drive organized with every document in a folder,
and sometimes another folder in that folder. For example, I have an English folder with five folders
in it, and another folder in one out of those five. I feel that I struggle with organization which is
shown by my nine out of 12 on that specific category. I always have a document or project, but
occasionally it takes me a while to find it. I could, additionally, use a calendar to always keep track
of what I have on a particular day. Improving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I don't know any advanced technology; therefore, I need to gain experience in more advanced
technology. I feel that I have excelled at word processing. I reached level four for word processing,
which is the highest level. I can use this skill in school and for a job that I may have because I
always have to write documents for school, and probably for a job too. Technology has helped me as
a student by always have something to help me with spelling, there is always spell check and the
internet to help you. Technology has helped my life because if I ever need to talk to somebody and
they are far away, I can send them a text message or phone call. Additionally, I can always search
something up if I have a question. I struggle with spreadsheets, as seen with my level one that I got
on the spreadsheets section. Spreadsheets is very unknown to me because I have only used it once,
and didn't really know what I was doing. Using spreadsheets will help me in the future because I
know many jobs use them. I know that my older brother has to use them all the time for his job. I
could use this skill for CDL because it will be an easy way to add the cost of things up. Based on my
above analysis of the technology assessment, I would like to grow in more advanced things on the
computer. I will do this by watching tutorials and using new programs to do the

Personal Opinion Regarding Education and High Taxes
I was in fourth grade, and we used paper and pencil. Then we switched to the flip program. I liked it
but now we have to raise taxes to keep it. We don't even need it! I Think we should get rid of flip,
because if we kept flip we would have to raise the taxes, kids need to learn how to research with a
book when they need it, they need to get used to using pencil and paper more than typing, and it will
increase the chances of cyber bullying. Taxes these days are high enough, and raising the taxes even
more will not help at all. The more the taxes we have to pay the slower the economy moves and the
higher unemployment. Besides, our tax system grows too progressively already! If we raise the
taxes even more it COULD cause fights over taxes being too high.Think about the people who
barely have enough money to pay for their taxes already. Us raising it would make it worse. It could
even effect you!"A democracy is three wolves and one sheep voting on what's for dinner." Neil
Boor.
Think, you're on a computer and you are researching piranhas. It says piranhas can grow as big as a
small car! Then you go tell a parent or friend who has had piranhas before. They say that's wrong
and what you used is not trustworthy (true story). You see websites might not be trustworthy or have
what you are looking for, but on the other hand books are almost always right (unless outdated). So
I should of used a book instead of the internet, but what if my teacher only taught how to research

My Life Reflection Paper
Literature and writing have had an affect on my life starting from my early childhood and continues
to influence me as I end my 11th year of school. From children's pop–up books to 500 page novels
reading has always taken part in developing my life. From learning to write my name to using
vigorous research and planning to construct a 7 page paper over the Scarlet Letter and the
unfortunate events little Hester Prynne is forced to deal with, along with the thrilling task analyzing
two juxtaposed literary works. Throughout my life writing and literature have helped to guide me in
life and aides in my everyday life. In grades kindergarten through seventh I attended school at Piqua
Catholic and more times than not was unsatisfactory in my writing and literature skills. I always
seemed to be the kid that fell behind when reading a book or was constantly spelling words
incorrectly. It was not that I did not care or never did my work, I tried but nothing ever clicked for
me. Tutoring was brought up in chat among my parents but they hoped that it would click
eventually. My mother acted as my own personal tutor at times. In preparation for spelling tests we
would take a cookie sheet and cover it in shaving cream. After my mom gave me a word I would
spell it out in the shaving cream. This helped me to visualize the words while incorporating some
fun into studying. First grade was nightmare for me, My teacher, Mrs. Quarter had suggested to my
parents that I be held back because I was so far behind compared to the other children in my class.
At times we would read together in class, taking turns by going around the room. It was
embarrassing when the book came to me and every other word I would stumble and need help with
pronunciation. Although Mrs. Quarter suggested I be held back a year that was not what she wanted.
At times she would stay after school with me to practice reading with me which greatly benefited
me. With Mrs. Quarters help my reading and writing greatly improved and by the end of my second
grade year I was on honor roll. As I grew older and transferred to Troy City Schools I felt that my
classes had gotten easier, especially English. I excelled in English, I will credit my English teacher

Research Plan: Does Autocorrect Technology Help Us Learn?
Introduction
Is technology making us smarter or dumber? With the increase in the use of smartphones and
autocorrect technology for the past ten years, the eras of the dictionary are over. These days,
corrections are made with a mindless click of a button, which does not allow the users think
themselves. Individuals have a tendency to use spell check more often than actually knowing how to
spell a word, or how to use grammar correctly.
Technologies like word prediction can compare a typed word with a word in the dictionary list and
recognize a mismatch as a misspelled word. This helps the writers who unconsciously reorder the
letters a lot while typing. It can also assist a writer in guessing the spelling of a word.
With the widespread ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The results also illustrated that there was no proper grammar in terms of punctuation and
capitalization.
In today's world of text messaging, through short messaging system many users are using
abbreviated and non conventional language which has a negative consequence on literacy. Powell
and Dixon (2011) worked on the impact of texting abbreviations called 'textisms', misspellings and
correctly spelled words on adults spelling. An Example of textism is 'gn', correctly spelled is
'goodnight' and the misspelling is 'gudnite'. They examined a group of participants before and after
the exposure of the same words, and found that textisms have a negative impact on participants
spelling when compared to misspellings.
Research Plan
I would like to conduct this research by taking a group of 15 voluntary participants who are a
combination of frequent and infrequent texting users of different age groups, gender, major, and
student status from our University. I would like to create a survey through SurveyMonkey.com and
send this survey to all the participants. The survey contains some basic questions, asking for age,
gender, major, and student status. There will be another set of questions asking for how often do
they text, do they think it's appropriate to use texting abbreviations, how often they use spell check,
how often they use auto correction, what is the most common word they misspell, what was their
most embarrassing grammar mistake.
I would like to have a

International Perspectives on Early Childhood Education
An increased awareness of the implications of quality experiences in the early years
has resulted in a growing interest in early childhood education. Subsequently, this
has generated an interest in differing examples of early childhood curriculums.
The following essay will critique the international approach, Te Whãriki and compare
the New Zealand educational system to the Early Years Foundation Stage
Curriculum of the United Kingdom. The essay will include reflection upon the
similarities and differences of these approaches upon my settings practice.
Today's society has recognised that significant investment in early year's provision
has valuable long term effects on young children, families and the wider
community. Cited in (Papatheodorou and Moyles, p1) As a result government
intervention has increased as policy makers attempt to raise standards and improve
the quality of early years education. However these policies have prompted much
debate such as child centred versus outcome based or play versus instruction.
Headlines such as "Too much too soon" or "The nappy curriculum", (Tasker, 2011)
demonstrate societies conflicting views on what is best for children, generating an
interest in comparisons between other countries policies and programs.
Early year's provision is different from country to country depending upon that
countries beliefs and goals of provision. Countries such as Sweden originally
provided child care to enable mothers

Technology : The Advantages And Disadvantages Of...
Technology has changed how people learn over the years. It has affected how things are taught, and
how they are received and processed by the students. Teachers could post any information on a
specific website that the instructor provided and the students can view and reply to the post.
Students used to have to bring home a textbook every night, but with the modern technology, they
can log onto an online textbook. There are some instructors who believe that pencil and paper are
slowly dwindling down into nothingness. Other educators believe that technology has helped benefit
their student's education and don't worry about pencil and paper.
Technology has its advantages and disadvantages in the classroom. Compared to the positive effects,
the list of negatives are nowhere near as long. Some of the negative effects include not paying
attention in class, not being on task, or even playing a game in the middle of a lecture. Wolpert says
that "As technology has played a bigger role in our lives, our skills in critical thinking and analysis
have declined, while our visual skills have improved". This means that students are paying more
attention to technology and visual stimulants than books and worksheets. They would rather look up
the answer than do the work themselves. "In other words, kids need to be taught when to stop
clicking and start thinking more carefully. Increasingly, teachers are equipping students with means
to evaluate websites rather than taking them at face

Evaluate Interpersonal and Written Communication Skills
Role Plays I have also demonstrated my interpersonal skills well while presenting role plays in class
such as engaging with the audience while I was showing my role plays by using eye contact while I
was performing however I did not use hand gestures like I did in my presentation. In the role plays
that I performed in class I did not use all the interpersonal skills as I did in my presentation because
some were not necessary such as summarising and paraphrasing because there was nothing to
summarise and there was nothing that I had to change into my own words, however there was some
interpersonal skills that I should have demonstrated and need to improve such as intonation because
I struggle to vary the tone of my voice and this is something I need to improve on the next time I'm
presenting a presentation or performing a role play in class. General In general in everyday life I
demonstrate some interpersonal skills well such as active engagement because when people are
talking to me I show that I am listening to them by doing things such as nodding when a person says
something I agree with or to show that I have understood what they are saying, also in everyday life
I have good use of intonation which is important so that people know how you are feeling. Also in
everyday life I think I am good at engaging with the person who I am talking to because I use eye
contact. In everyday life I think that people are able to understand me because I do not speak too
fast or too slow.

Strengths And Weaknesses In English Class
Did you know that 92 percent of all English students end up passing the class, but that only 84
percent of choir students pass English class? In elementary school, I was able to write and read
efficiently. However, my comprehension of what as I read as I got older was not as good as it could
have been. I was able to read books and understand the main points, but often I would forget little
details. My past few years in English have been successful and I have been able to achieve many of
the goals I have set for myself as an English student. In this paper, I will address my strengths, my
weaknesses, what I enjoy the most, and how I learn the best. I have some strengths and weaknesses
and ways I learn the best doing hands–on learning and activities. My strengths in English are
writing papers and doing hands–on stuff. My weaknesses are comprehending things and doing
bookwork. In my previous years of English, I have done well and my grades are proof of that. I have
averaged A's and B's. One of my major strengths has been projects where I have to make a google
slide presentation and then present it in front of the class. Tests are also a strong point for me in
English. This is because I am able to make connections easily and link ideas back to main details.
However, sometimes I struggle to make connections if I did not understand or enjoy the material,
but for the most part, making connections and doing well on tests has always been a strength of
mine. My struggles in English

Speech On Funny Punctuation Mistakes
Some of the Most Funny Punctuation Mistakes People Make
Funny punctuation mistakes with the use of the apostrophe takes on a funny turn as they seem to
crop up in many public places. From being inserted in the wrong place or being left out, produces an
assortment of funny punctuation errors that are quite generic.
Avoid Funny Punctuation Mistakes with the Apostrophe
In proper English grammar, apostrophes are used to show an abbreviation or ownership. Below is an
explanation on how to avoid making funny punctuation mistakes when using the apostrophe.
Funny Punctuation Mistakes by Showing Ownership
To show ownership the apostrophe is place next to the name of the owner and before the letter s:

Finding results for a punctuation or grammar query makes the writer confident enough to correct the
misspelled word into the given suggestion or search for a better one. This also goes true when you

Use Punctuation Marks Checker for Commas
Punctuation marks checker must be constantly use to check for comma placement mistakes. Take
note that in an introductory sentence, a comma must separate the introductory phrase from the other
parts of the sentence. If a group of words is present at the beginning of a sentence that gives more
information separate them with a comma.
Example: Before going to sleep, he went out to check if the door is closed.
Use commas between all words in a series even before the coordinating conjunction
Example: During Christmas, mother cooked pot roast chicken, potato salad, and lemon cream

Deafness is NOT a Disability I don't remember much about my first two years of school; matter of
fact the only thing I do remember is what my parents have told me. I do, however remember sitting
helpless, lost in my own world as I watched the others in the classroom scream with excitement as
they recited the ABC's and sang songs while sitting on a large rug. I giggled and laughed along with
them, somewhat mimicking them. I recall my teacher, many times, redirecting my attention to the
lesson. I wasn't a bit interested in anything outside playtime; or of course lunch. First grade was no
different. I was much less amused by reading and writing; which my teacher, Mrs. Garcia felt was
the most important in her class. I hated reading. I hated writing more. I would hold my breath and sit

Emergent Literacy
EMERGENT LITERACY
Emergent literacy is used to describe how a young child interacts with books and when reading and
writing, even though they could not read or write in the usual sense of way. Emergent literacy is a
process that takes place over the timeframe from birth until a child can read and write in what we
think to be a standard sense. The key to term literacy is the consistency of all parts of language:
speaking, listening, reading, writing, and viewing. Some people believe that, up until a child starts
school he/she will first learn to read and then learn to write. The process to learning to read and
write has to start early in a child's life. Right away they have contact with different types of
communication from the start. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Dysgraphia
Dyslexia affects the way a student reads but another specific learning disability, dysgraphia, also
affects the way a student writes (Adam 1). Dysgraphia is a condition that causes people trouble with
writing due to poor handwriting (Adam 1). Students with ASDs are at an increased risk of
developing dysgraphia (Adam 1). Children with ASDs do not learn motor skills as regularly as a
normal developing student would (Versfeld 1). Because of this many students do not develop the
fine motor skills needed to hold a pencil correctly, which could result in messy, unreadable
handwriting (Adam 1). Another symptom of dysgraphia is poor grasp of spelling, grammar and
punctuation (Adam 1). There are a number of ATs to help students with all these deficiencies. ...

They are generally used in conjunction with another AT, such as word–prediction programs or
freeform database softwares (Stanberry 4). Word processors may be helpful to students who prefer
to use a keyboard as opposed to a pencil and paper (Stanberry 4). It also allows the user to edit and
correct their written work more efficiently than by hand (Stanberry 4). Speech–recognition
programs, which are mainly used for students whose oral language skills are better than their writing
skills, work in conjunction with word processors (Stanberry 5). A user dictates their work into a
microphone and their spoken words appear on the computer screen as text (Stanberry 5). Paper–
based computer pens records and links audio to what the person writes using the pen and special
paper (Stanberry 4). This enables the user to take notes while simultaneously recording what the
teacher is saying (Stanberry 4). The user is then able to listen to any section of the notes by touching
the pen to the corresponding handwriting or diagrams (Stanberry 4). This device can also be used
for students with listening issues (Stanberry 4). These ATs can assist students who struggle with

Essay on The Importance of Learning to Write Proficiently
You have been writing ever since you learned your first letters. From writing a sentence in first
grade to five page essays your senior year. It feels like your pen has never left the paper, and the
reality of it is, is that it will not be leaving anytime soon. Most occupations will require you to write
– whether it be an expense report or an e–mail, ergo, it would be in your best interest to be
knowledgable of how to write well and all the rules that come along with that. Writing is and always
will be important because you will always be writing, regardless of if you enjoy to or not. With that
being said, here are some key writing rules one should know about: punctuation, run on sentences,
spelling, tense, and audience. These rules will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without punctuation a sentence may say, "Do you want to eat Dad?" What you actually meant was,
"Do you want to eat, Dad?" Without the comma the subject was eating the father, but with the
comma the subject was asking the father a question. Both sentences had the same words, yet that
small mark of punctuation made all the difference. Along with punctuation comes run on sentences.
Without punctuation the reader would not know when to pause and would just keep reading.
Punctuation is key when avoiding that deep, dark path of run on sentences. Run on sentences are
extremely unprofessional and confuse the reader. If you feel that your sentence may be too long, just
add a comma where appropriate, or just turn the sentence into two sentences. Furthermore, another
significant writing rule is spelling. If you turn in a resume with something misspelled, you might as
well forget any chance you ever had getting that job. Spelling is such an easy rule to check for, yet
it's one of the most common mistakes one will make. Spelling only takes a few minutes to check,
especially with programs such as spell check on Microsoft Word. Another way to check for spelling
would be to just actually read over what you just wrote. It may seem tedious, but that extra five
minutes could save you from such a preventable mistake. To continue, tense is another valuable rule
to keep in mind when writing. It is preferred that you use present tense whenever possible and you
must not change your

My Reflection
This lesson was the first one I did during practicum week and I thought it went very well. I did this
lesson in the morning pretty much after calendar time. We had to wait a couple minutes for some of
the students to get back from extra reading practice. When I went up to the front of the room a lot of
the students got excited. Considering I was somebody new, they thought it would be fun for me to
teach them. I first asked the students what long vowel sounds they have been working on and almost
all of the students raised their hands. I was very proud of the fact that I did not have any trouble with
names when I was calling on them. I started the lesson with those questions in order to get them
ready for the lesson, it was a quick warm up in order to start thinking about what we will be doing.
Next I told the students what we would be doing and that we will be working with the white boards
and I dismissed the students by their table groups, which are North, South and West. This worked
really well and made it so there wasn't a huge cluster around the white boards. The time that I
allotted for the students getting the materials was perfect. I was still able to keep them engaged and
it made it efficient so no extra time was wasted on getting the white boards. When I started to go
through the long a sounds I just had the students shout that those out. This class has spent a lot of
time on that sound and I knew the students were very knowledgeable in that long vowel. I felt

Dyslexia Is A Learning Disability
Dyslexia is a learning disability in which people have difficulty reading, writing, and even in
subjects such a math and music. In my case, I found that subjects such as reading and writing were
harder for me compared to other kids my age. I was half way through my fourth grade year when I
was diagnosed with dyslexia. While at first this was something I hated about myself. Now being
dyslexic is something that makes me who I am today, and this is something I should never be
ashamed of.
By the time I was in 1st grade all of my friends were learning to read and write, while I tried my
hardest to just get by. Yet after every single spelling test I would receive a failing grade or a barely
passing grade, and for me this was abnormal as I was a straight "A" student in everything else.
While my grades continued to fall, my mom started to believe that I was just not trying hard enough.
For the next three years, my mother started tutoring me every day after school. Each and every day
after school my mother would make me write my spelling words ten times each, and when that did
not make any change, I began to study ever single moment of the day. Sometimes I even studied in
the shower, but sadly I was still falling behind in certain subjects. This persisted on for three more
years, when I was in 3rd grade when my mom finally gave up with the school I was at and sent me
to one that she believed had a better education system.
At my new school the teachers where very similar as they

My Impact On Student Learning Assignment On Our Weekly...
I chose to complete my impact on student learning assignment on our weekly spelling test. I choose
our spelling test because we work on our words every day. I taught my students through spelling,
phonics, and reading. First I had the students on the carpet to say their chunks. All their chunks were
in their spelling words. Then I had my students focus on their phonics lesson for the week which
was /er/, /ir/, and /ur/. I explained to the students that r is the boss and when it is standing by a vowel
it makes one sound. Phonics was a very important component because the students needed to know
about bossy r for five of their spelling words. After our phonics lesson, I gave the students a pretest.
The pre–test had divided into two sections. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think integrating technology into my lesson made it more engaging for my student. I noticed how
they would sing the new song they learned all throughout the day. I put "Words With /er/" on the
ELMO and had the students underline their chunks and double consonants. some of the words they
recognized from their spelling list. I called on students one by one and asked them to help sound out
the word. I then asked the student if the word had /er/. If the word had /er/ then the student would
trace /er/. After every student had a turn the class read the words correctly. The students then took
out their Basel books. I had the students point and read Kitten's First Full Moon together again,
twice. Their spelling homework was to write their words in ABC order.
Wednesday, I made sure that the students chanted their chunks on the carpet. Then the students went
back to their desks, they already knew what to do for spelling. I put our spelling poster up on the
board had the students play Soccer with their spelling words. The phonics lesson for the day was the
same as Tuesday except for wit /ir/ instead of /er/. I saw surprised that some of the students were
still singing the bossy r song. When prompted all of the students could sing it. When we were
reading our Basel books I would occasionally ask students to stop, point, and spell a word that was
on their spelling test. For homework,

I Feel That This Assessment Overall Went Pretty Well
I feel that this assessment overall went pretty well. Miss. S. had me work with three students
individually, and these students ranged from high performance to low performance. I thought this
was a good choice so I could experience difference between the different developmental levels of
the students. I performed the assessment on October 14th of 2016, in Miss. S's classroom during the
student's free choice time. Of the three students that participated, one of the students receives speech
therapy. The first student that I assessed was Child 1, and he doesn't receive extra services.
Johnathan did really well overall, but did struggle with some words. I feel that Johnathan could have
taken his time more and really focused on sounding the words out before saying what he thought
they were. I did noticed that the mixed up and mistaken some of the vowels. When I performed the
spelling test at the end, Johnathan had trouble with the word you. When he started to spell the word
he started with "OU," but then he corrected himself and spelt the word correctly. I still marked the
word as incorrect since he started spelling the word wrong. The second student that I assessed was
Child 2, and he receives speech therapy. I didn't complete the assessment because Derek was
struggling and wasn't close to saying the words that I was pointing to. When saying some of the
words he was either correct or very close. With some of the words he was questioning himself

Importance Of Reading And Writing
Reading and writing is very essential in one's lifetime. People always say they don't like reading and
they don't like writing because it's boring and they have no interest, but little do they know they do
it way more than they think. Everyday you're reading and writing, it might not be reading from a
book or writing an essay but you're doing it. Most of you're reading comes from you reading texts
messages, reading comments and captions on social media, reading road signs, etc. Most of your
writing comes from typing those text messages and comments and captions. Without reading and
writing you will basically have the same mental capacity of a rock. You wouldn't be able to get out
the right pronunciation of words correctly and be able to understand thigs people are trying to tell
you or write out to you. Other than oxygen and water reading and writing is the most essential part
of a human's life.
As a young kid, I was always good at reading and writing. I always had some of the best hand
writing and I could always spell out words easily. Back then my mom would put me on different
learning mechanisms like children's books and "Hooked on Phonics." Those tools it what helped me
to be the good speller, reader writer I am today. I used to showcase my talents in the annual spelling
bee's every year in elementary, I would never win but I would always come in second or third only
because I have a slight problem of just spelling words out word of mouth, but I can write out any

Negative Effects Of Texting And Driving
Texting has had an enormous impact on the way everyone talks to one another. It has caused
minimal verbal communication, spelling and grammar has gone down the drain along with driving
safety, paying attention in or at school/work, it has even impacted bullying in schools. Texting
causes people to rely on spell check/auto–correct and actual verbal communication has significantly
declined. Texting also causes people to pay less attention to the road because they stay buried in
their phones. Texting and driving is extremely dangerous and it is frequently done. Everyday almost
nine people die in car accidents due to texting and driving. Driving while distracted can be looking
away from the road, removing your hands away from the steering wheel, or even thinking about
something irrelevant while driving. Texting and driving has to do with removing hands from the
steering wheel, looking at a phone and thinking about what your doing on the phone. People who
decided not to pay attention while driving Caused around 3,477 people to die and 391,000 to be
injured in 2015. People who text while driving causes over a thousand people to get hurt everyday.
Texting and driving has been fought, but still continues to happen everyday. Safe drivers are being
punished everyday for the recklessness and carelessness of texting and driving. ("Motor Vehicle
Safety"). Texting offensive things to one another is a form of bullying. Just like any other form,

A High School Story
"I'm different because everyone else is not me." This as written by Julian Aguilar, a famous
screenwriter for Hollywood films. It was my first day at a real school, preschool doesn't count, and I
was starting first grade, since I skipped kindergarten. It wasn't always easy being the youngest in
your entire grade, and sometimes, the whole school, but I made it through and even got into GATE.
That's what this story is all about. "Are you ready for your first day of school?" my mom asked me.
"I sure am!" I said. She asks me if I'm excited and I told her how enthusiastic and anxious I was.
When she drives me to my new school, I got more and more pumped. I can hardly wait! As uneasy
as I was, though, I was also honored to be the only five year old in first grade. "We're here!" my
mom exclaimed as she pulled into a parking lot. There was a sign that said: Ladera Elementary
School. "Awesome! I'm not in preschool anymore, I'm an older girl!" I exclaimed. "That's right
pumpkin," my mom gave me a huge bear–hug. "Now, let's go meet the principal, shall we?" We
went into the office and met the principal, then, the principal , introduced me to my teacher, Mrs.
Scott, and some new friends, Cassandra, Skylar, MacKenzie, and Madison. During the time we were
in the office, my mom had signed a form that I didn't really pay attention to it, but a few weeks later,
she drove me to a place that isn't school, and I got really worried. "Mom, where are you taking me?"

Benefits And Benefits Of Writing
Writing and its Benefits
The first phase in writing; invented spelling, is illustrated by Kelli, a first grader. Young children use
invented spelling as a vehicle to express their thoughts. When exposed to various types of print, or
writing; cereal boxes, signs, television, billboards, and any books that are read to them, the child
will mimic the sounds they hear of the words they wish to write. The writings may appear as
scribbles or unconventional writing to the viewer, but to the child it is meaningful, logical writing.
The concern for the parent and their child's invented style of spelling is that the child will later have
difficulty transitioning to a more standard, conventional style of spelling. The opposite is true,

As time passed, she progressed at reading and acknowledged ways of standard spellings. With
teacher encouragement, Kelli worked with her skill of invented spelling that lead her to spelling
more words correctly. Beth, a good speller who used invented spelling in the beginning of the
school year, and at the end of the school year progress had been seen in her standard writing skills;
the "g" was used instead of a "j" in "gently" and a "y" was used instead of an "e" in "merrily". To
help gauge this, teachers may implement meaningful activities such as: songs or nursery rhymes.
Less and less (as a child is encouraged and given the freedom to use invented spelling, as they learn
to pick up the sounds heard in the words), they will seek help spelling words from the teacher,
increasing their confidence level. At some point the teacher may have the child share their writings

teacher will have the child say the word or words in question and instruct the rest of the class to
listen to a particular point (beginning, middle, or end).

Writing Rediscovered
Most of us never think about the technology we use when writing, whether we are jotting down our
"To Do" lists or pulling out a pencil for an exam, we do it without much thought. Walter Ong tells us
"Although we take writing so much for granted as to forget that it is a technology, writing is in a
way the most drastic of the three technologies of the word (321). I believe that many of us would
agree that although we may not consider writing to be a drastic technology, we would say that it is
an important one.
For me there has never really been a reason to put much thought into the act of writing. I have put a
lot of thought in to what to write or how to write it, but never the physical component of ... Show

Since the piece of wood I used had not fallen from the tree itself, it is obvious that someone had to
use a saw to cut it. I did not use any tools myself but rather left the large piece of firewood as it was.
I hunted for wild berries in a wooded area near my home and found some small red ones on a wild
bush. I would like to believe that this bush grew there naturally, but I somehow cannot fully believe
that there was no technology involved in the placement of that bush. To produce the words that I
needed to write I squeezed the red berry juice onto the log and wrote, "I love my three kids Meagan,
Maddy and Emma and Eddie too my name is Amy Lynn Johnson." It proved to be very difficult to
write those eighteen words for many reasons. First, it was difficult to write small enough to fit so
many words onto my log because the juice from the berries would run. I also found that the berries
had to be extremely ripe in order to produce the dark red juice, for if they were not yet ready the
juice inside ran clear. Next, I found that without a sharp point it was difficult to even shape or form
the letters themselves, and the rounded edges of the berries were not strong enough to withstand the
pressure that my hand was placing on them.
I found out, when it rained, that this writing material would not be permanent due to the fact that my
berry ink was washed away. This invention has proved to be very unreliable in keeping text for any

Sacrifice In Margaret Atwood's 'Spelling'
The term "sacrifice" can provoke different connotations, whether it is through religion, or giving
something up for someone else, or and offering. Regardless, sacrifices have become a staple in
culture throughout history, and the meaning has shifted and grown with time. In Margaret Atwood's
poem, "Spelling" images of women and sacrifice become a prevalent part. The poem speaks to
women who have made sacrifices and the literal sacrifices that women have become through the
course of history. Atwood, through the images and tales of sacrifice, exposes the oppression of
women as authors and as mothers, and more specifically through the act of language and writing. In
the second stanza of the poem, the narrator of "Spelling" poses the question of how many women
have sacrificed having daughters, in order to pursue their careers as writers, as well as the action
needed for a women writer to accomplish this: I wonder how many women denied themselves
daughters, closed themselves in rooms, drew the curtains so that they could mainline words. (7–11)

In this case, the woman has again become the literal sacrifice for the sake of men. Witch burnings
were done when a women was said to be possessed by evil spirits or had made a deal with the devil.
The use of the word "Ancestress" (21) indicates that this witch is the predecessor for all current
women writers. When her mouth is "covered" (22), she is being blocked, unable to speak and share
her thoughts. The "leather" (22) is used to "strangle" (23) words. The use of "strangle" has a double
meaning. The first is the rope strangles her and physically crushes her vocal cords so she is
incapable of speech. It also is used to strangle her words, to stop them before she is able to vocalize,

My Writing For Health Class
I don't remember how old I was, or even what grade I was in. After all, several decades have gone
by since then. What I do recall is my utter disbelief the day my mother suddenly altered our usual
homework chatter. Typically, I'd shout out how to spell a word and then mom would holler back the
series of letters, steadily and three at a time. But not that day. "What do you mean, look it up
myself?" I hollered back, clearly confused. I could hear the water running and dishes clinking as she
washed up from lunch. Her response took a few seconds, which felt like forever.
"Look it up yourself." She finally repeated. I winced. Is this because I didn't do so well on my last
spelling quiz?
"No mom, I'm not doing spelling, I'm writing my report for health class." I tried again, pencil still
poised mid–sentence on the blue line of the paper waiting for the letters to come.
"That's ok. The dictionary's right there on your shelf." She replied with that parental hint of finality.
"But mom..." I groaned the words, "how am I supposed to look it up if I don't know how to spell it?"
Only the sounds of her motions around the kitchen came as a reply.
"I'll never get to go outside and play." I muttered to myself before moving woodenly over to wrestle
with the giant tome that was my mother's dictionary.
I didn't appreciate it (at all) at the time, as children so often don't, but occasionally mothers actually
do know best. This proved to be a significant juncture in my literacy development, not

Giving Advice For Communication Tech Users
Giving Advice to Communication Tech Users Communication is involved in both virtual setting and
face to face settings. You may not think so, but it is true. There is a lack of effective communication
in a email that people may not realize. It really depends on who you are sending that email to. If you
are talking to someone who is like a friend, boy friend or girlfriend, or relative, you may text them
with emojois and exclamation marks. Now, if you were sending an email to a doctor, a lawyer, or
for a job application, it would be completely different. You would sound more mature. Do you see
the difference? Although, it is important to have effective communication in every single email, it
does not matter who you are talking to. Here are some mistakes people make sending an email, and
also solutions to make the email better and have effective communication.
 Mistake: People are not clear with their messages: This can make the person that is reading this
very confused. They are not getting the main idea across of what the email is about. Then you two
would keep going back and forth with emails.
 Solution: How to make your email clear and specific is to look at the email as an outline for
writing a one page essay. That means make bullet points for the parts you want to say in your email.
You want to make it clear and short. Don't make your email sound like a list of things because you
may repeat the same thing. You want the person who is reading the email to have

1.1 Explain The Difficulties Of Using English Language
Transcriptional
Again using the standards of a year 6 pupil within national curriculum, it shows that in relation to
transcriptional areas it is clear that this child is quite confident with their spelling and handwriting.
There are more strengths than weaknesses. This child has the ability to spell words with a silent
letter, such as, like and would. Their ability to use homophones is clearly shown especially in words
like would, were, look and wear. However, it was noticed that this child struggled with the
homophone their and there, due to incorrectly using this in their writing e.g. 'this argument is about
if their should be' rather than using there. In their writing only one spelling mistake was noticed,
which was about, incorrectly spelt– ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parts of the child's writing, such as, the grammar used could be overcome by teaching this as a
whole class, by year 6 children should write plausible sentences that make sense. Therefore,
modelling to the whole class a sentence which isn't clear and asking them to discuss why it is
incorrect and what they could do to improve this is a way to get children actively thinking and
guiding each other's learning or even allowing the child to proof read their work again to ensure it
makes sense in their head before carrying out the previous activity. To help up level punctuation, it
would be useful to model a sentence with punctuation including question marks, semi–colons,
dashes etc. and allow the child to use one of their sentences, in order to up level that by using a
variety of punctuation that is set at a year 6 standard within the national curriculum. The child seems
to be quite confident with transcriptional areas, apart from the few areas mentioned therefore to help
with those particular issues, as a teacher it would be an idea to just mark these areas or highlight
them to make it clear that they are incorrect. After the child has looked at the marking, talk it
through with them to ensure they have a clear understanding of how they went wrong and how to fix
it. Allowing the use of a thesaurus and dictionary will enable the child to use a bigger range of
vocabulary or even allowing them to use words from the national curriculum for year 6 to see if they
could include some of these in their writing, this will be a good way to influence a higher level piece
of writing. After analysing this child's piece of work and going through how they could improve, an
idea would be to give the child another writing frame which they

The Negative Effects Of Technology In Education
The popularity of technology is growing larger and faster than ever. The problem is, we may never
be able to catch up to it. The young adolescent adults seemed to be more interested in technology.
Some experts claim that it does more harm than value. In terms of education, technology is
becoming more and more popular and used among many school districts, although this can come
with complications and allows students to ease threw assignments without having to fix their own
problems. Also, technology can affect teenagers social abilities and let strangers have access to
personal information.
Education has found its way into the loop of technology. Teachers are using ipads and laptops
during class time to help conduct experiments, or share a presentation. This is allowing the students
to gain instant access to the information they are seeking. Students also receive the opportunity to
complete their homework online and print off their assignments instead of just using paper and
pencil. Another pro for Technology in Education, there are countless sources out there which help
enhance learning. In one research conducted, they compared the performance of teaching kids how
to read a clock. One group was coached by an online app, another was shown by a toy clock, and
the last group was trained by a drawing example. The results revealed that the children that were
taught by the toy and app exceeded the paper drawing group (Galetzka).
However, some would say that within education, the use of technology can influence students to
cheat or take the easy way out on their assignments. "Students today can easily access essays,
reports, class notes, tests, etc. online, making it that much more difficult for teachers to know if the
work their students hand in is original" (Ronan). This dilemma interferes with teenagers processing
new information. The Internet is a great tool; however, teens may rely too heavily on it, and worse,
believe everything they see. I believe that the internet can be a great source to gain more knowledge,
however, one needs to acknowledge how to effectively use this tool to benefit them. Next,
technology helps us complete tedious tasks. For example, you are writing an essay and you are not

My Reading Journey
My Reading Journey
Reading is everywhere, it is one basic skill that we all must learn at some point in our life. Whether
it is reading a book, text messages, posters, or a billboard. Everybody has their own success story on
who and what taught them how to read. Most have been taught by their parents as a child, others
had the help of sibling and school teachers. Between my mom, older sister, school events and my
teachers I could master the art of reading. At an early age, I discovered this deep desire for
education which helped prosper in school.
Many different events in my life lead up to my ability to read. There are words all arounds no matter
where we go, so not learning how to read was never an option for me. My mother got me interested
in reading first because as a child she would sit me on her lap and read short children stories to me.
At night time, she would tuck me in and read me a bed time story. Her voice flowed so smoothly
through each word and she even mad the sound effects to make the story come alive. It became a
point in time where I would no longer wait for my mother to read to me, I would take out a book
and attempt to read on my own. Not knowing what any of the words meant or what they were
saying I would try my best to read them still. That was only the beginning for me, when I enrolled in
kindergarten and my teacher would assign homework to us there was always some form of reading
that was required. I would sit at the kitchen table struggling to

The Vancouver Island Eco Initiatives
TThe proposal I have selected is the 'Vancouver Island Eco Initiatives – Request Proposals VIEI –
11– 02', this proposal talks about creating a support system for the students at Camosun College. It
is economically friendly in the way that the 're–use, recycle' method would be put into place at both
campuses. The proposal itself says that it will create financial support for students at both campuses,
but has very poor English and vocabulary, and the main point is not made clear. Of what I could
understand the individual who wrote this paper wants to set up a student funded flea market of sorts,
where students could buy tables from Costco that cost $20 and sell their textbooks, non–perishable
food items, etc at reasonable prices to other students. I recommend for this proposal that whoever
wrote it, go back and go through spell check, as words like 'money' were spelled incorrectly all the
way through, and that a lot of their vocabulary is very basic and hard to follow or understand. 'The
Plan' section seems more like a budget than anything else, it doesn't tell you how the student society
will be brought into the mix as it mentioned in the Introduction, or how they will garner the
attention of students to volunteer and spend the $20.00 on the table, or how the 8 000.00 a year will
be distributed among everyone involved. I recommend that the writer re–visit 'The Plan' section and
actually add in a more detailed plan, including how they plan on getting students involved,

Reflection Papers
I have been teaching writing for many years. As a result, I have a variety of papers for students to
write that I know are possible for third graders to write. In addition, each year and group of students
is different so I adjust the papers they write based on the level of the group and the needs of the
individual student.
We work together on planning our papers through a step by step scaffolding process and modeling
so that students have assistance with the planning process. The next stage is for me to walk around
to monitor the students and determine what assistance they need. I check for understanding of the
assignment and make suggestions as needed and to confirm they will be able to write this paper.
During this time, I will assist them with any spelling issues they may have. In addition, I conference
one on one with each student and will help them with spelling during this time. Since I don't teach
spelling, this process has worked the best. Finally, I do teach cursive handwriting so this is a skill
that we work on weekly. My goal is to finish each of the letters in the first semester and practice
these skills in the second.
We are departmentalized so I am only able to see their work in writing and science. We do write a

writing skills to science. In addition, we write an instruction manual for a simple machine. My goal

Comparing My Strengths And Weaknesses In My Writing
Many writers enjoy putting their voice on paper. As a writer, I have always enjoyed knowing that I
do not have to speak aloud for people to know what I want to say. Everyone who writes has his or
hers strengths and weaknesses, some different from others. I like to read other peoples' works and
know that what they're talking about is familiar to me. Also, I enjoy being able to relate to someone
else's experiences or opinions, finding something I have in common with someone else helps me get
through their paper easier.
Therefore, when I started writing I had no idea what my strengths and weaknesses were quite yet. I

American Public Education Essay
The American public educational system is filled with an assortment of problems. Most students are
graduating with less knowledge and capability than similar students in other industrialized
countries. Classroom disruptions are surprisingly common, and in some classrooms, nearly
continuous. The public education system is having difficulty adjusting to the no child left behind

Sample Essay : Victoria 's Reflection
Victoria's Reflection
Observation–
At Centennial Elementary school Mrs. Madrigal was giving a composition lesson that focused on
summarizing. During academics on Tuesday, March 15th, 2016 at 5 o'clock the lesson on
summarizing was given to first graders. The lesson was introduced by the teacher in a fun and
exciting way. The teacher asked who has played football or if the students have a favorite team.
Some students mentioned the teams their parents liked and others didn't know anything about
football. Then, the teacher handed out a worksheet that had the word "Football" in bold and larger
text in the top middle section of the page. The top half of the worksheet had two sections, to its left
it had a paragraph that consisted of nine sentences and to the right, a picture of a football player
about to throw the football and someone covering him and another person from the opposite team
trying to stop him. As the teacher read the short paragraph, the students read along with her. There
were seven students during the lesson and they all seem to enjoy reading about football. After
reading the paragraph some students wanted to discuss football teams, but the teacher mentioned
that they are going to get a chance to express their preferences about their favorite team later and to
focus on only the short story about football. The bottom half section had two questions. One asked
to write in complete sentences what was the story

Copy Editor Is Bringing A Story To Print

  • 1. Copy Editor is Bringing a Story to Print What a copy editor does with a draft of a story going to print: ––looks for missing words, missing elements of the story, missing attributes. For example, if a person named James Dodd is mentioned, that person's identity as it relates to the story must be attached to the name when it is first cited, so that if Dodd, a manager at Hudson's Bay Company, is quoted again, the reader knows who the person is. ––corrects the lead and adjusts the structure of the story so that, for instance, the paragraphs follow in logical order and are properly connected to each other. Watch for "buried" leads, i.e. the sentence that should tell the reader what the story is all about occurs after the lead sentence. ––looks for inconsistencies, eg. proper nouns spelled two different ways. (Always use spell–check to help locate such inconsistencies.) ––corrects for the publication's style. For instance at the Globe and Mail, copy editors would follow the Globe's style guide for font style and size, peculiarities of punctuation, upper and lower case, etc. In most instances the CP style guide will also apply. ––corrects mathematics and geography. In other words, make sure the numbers or percentages add up. Make sure places – towns, lakes, mountains, whatever –– are properly located according to the latest maps. ––checks with the writer of the story for anything that is not clear: don't assume you are right and don't guess. NB It is the writer's responsibility to make sure he/she can be located at a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Reflective Essay On Reading And Writing It was my second grade year and I was only 7 years old when I first found my hatred for anything that had to do with reading or writing. Every week my teacher would give us a lengthy list of vocabulary words that we had to memorize before our spelling test the following week. I would study for periods at a time trying to memorize these gruesome lists of words that I could never remember. When it came down to the day of the test I would see all my classmates at ease while I would panic trying to remember what I studied. When it finally came time to take the test I hear the teacher call the word "island" but the only thing I could hear was noise In a room full of silence. I was frustrated I couldn't think, the teacher would ask is everyone ready to move on and I wouldn't say anything because I was too shy. After a couple of days I would get my score back and would not be surprised when I found out that I had failed the test. Week after week this became a recurring theme when I got back my spelling test. Following this experience I accepted the fact that reading and writing was just (not my thing). Although my second grade experience was terrible, my third grade year gave me an experience that I never had with literacy. My teacher would give us a list of words, but instead of us just having to memorize them. We would have to create a story using these words. This opened my eyes to a part of literacy that I was never familiar with. I had total creative freedom, ( and I took it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Personal Narrative: My Writing Challenge This is the 25 minute writing challenge, where I'm not allowed to use the backspace button on my keyboard or edit what I'm typing. There are probably going to be many typos in this small paper, but that's apart of the challenge as I can't edit anything. I honestly have no clue what to write about, but atleast I'm 3 minutes in right now. I didn't realize that this assignment was due on monday, so I've been accidentally procrastinating on this assignment, and I'm wanting to do this before I go to bed. I'm still struggling figuring out what I'm going to write about, but I'm going to stall as long as possible. Everytime that I misspell a word my finger by habit want to use the backspace. This really makes me appreciate when people had to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I've gotten used to spell check so all I have to do is spell the word somewhat right and then it's spelled correctly. On the ACT during the writing portion, I struggled to spell words that I used to be able to spell perfectly. This led to me having to think of other simpler words to spell that I could put in place of the word I couldn't spell, which took up a lot of time. This also couples with the fact that I'm not that great at writing. I'm dreading taking more english classes in college as english has always been my worst subject, and I know that whatever I major in will not require me to take more english courses as I hate english as a subject. I don't know why I've never taken a liking to english. If I had to guess it would be all the grammar rules, but I don't think that that's all I dislike about learning english. Part of it is having to write papers that I have no interest in writing, but I still write it just so I can get a decent grade in the class. I have no clue when my essay on Of mice and men will ever come in handy other than to get me a grade in english 9. On top of that, I dislike being forced to read, and I just dislike reading books in general. I've never come across a book that I've actually wanted to read. I think this is because I'm a slow reader, and I often find myself zoning out in the middle of the page, and just staring at the words in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Competency Self Assessment After taking the study skills test, I feel that my scores reveal that I am proficient in one category but then satisfactory in every other one. I find that I am proficient at using Google Drive because I got a 12/12 in that category. I always keep my Google Drive organized with every document in a folder, and sometimes another folder in that folder. For example, I have an English folder with five folders in it, and another folder in one out of those five. I feel that I struggle with organization which is shown by my nine out of 12 on that specific category. I always have a document or project, but occasionally it takes me a while to find it. I could, additionally, use a calendar to always keep track of what I have on a particular day. Improving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But I don't know any advanced technology; therefore, I need to gain experience in more advanced technology. I feel that I have excelled at word processing. I reached level four for word processing, which is the highest level. I can use this skill in school and for a job that I may have because I always have to write documents for school, and probably for a job too. Technology has helped me as a student by always have something to help me with spelling, there is always spell check and the internet to help you. Technology has helped my life because if I ever need to talk to somebody and they are far away, I can send them a text message or phone call. Additionally, I can always search something up if I have a question. I struggle with spreadsheets, as seen with my level one that I got on the spreadsheets section. Spreadsheets is very unknown to me because I have only used it once, and didn't really know what I was doing. Using spreadsheets will help me in the future because I know many jobs use them. I know that my older brother has to use them all the time for his job. I could use this skill for CDL because it will be an easy way to add the cost of things up. Based on my above analysis of the technology assessment, I would like to grow in more advanced things on the computer. I will do this by watching tutorials and using new programs to do the ... • 5. Personal Opinion Regarding Education and High Taxes I was in fourth grade, and we used paper and pencil. Then we switched to the flip program. I liked it but now we have to raise taxes to keep it. We don't even need it! I Think we should get rid of flip, because if we kept flip we would have to raise the taxes, kids need to learn how to research with a book when they need it, they need to get used to using pencil and paper more than typing, and it will increase the chances of cyber bullying. Taxes these days are high enough, and raising the taxes even more will not help at all. The more the taxes we have to pay the slower the economy moves and the higher unemployment. Besides, our tax system grows too progressively already! If we raise the taxes even more it COULD cause fights over taxes being too high.Think about the people who barely have enough money to pay for their taxes already. Us raising it would make it worse. It could even effect you!"A democracy is three wolves and one sheep voting on what's for dinner." Neil Boor. Think, you're on a computer and you are researching piranhas. It says piranhas can grow as big as a small car! Then you go tell a parent or friend who has had piranhas before. They say that's wrong and what you used is not trustworthy (true story). You see websites might not be trustworthy or have what you are looking for, but on the other hand books are almost always right (unless outdated). • 6. My Life Reflection Paper Literature and writing have had an affect on my life starting from my early childhood and continues to influence me as I end my 11th year of school. From children's pop–up books to 500 page novels reading has always taken part in developing my life. From learning to write my name to using vigorous research and planning to construct a 7 page paper over the Scarlet Letter and the unfortunate events little Hester Prynne is forced to deal with, along with the thrilling task analyzing two juxtaposed literary works. Throughout my life writing and literature have helped to guide me in life and aides in my everyday life. In grades kindergarten through seventh I attended school at Piqua Catholic and more times than not was unsatisfactory in my writing and literature skills. I always seemed to be the kid that fell behind when reading a book or was constantly spelling words incorrectly. It was not that I did not care or never did my work, I tried but nothing ever clicked for me. Tutoring was brought up in chat among my parents but they hoped that it would click eventually. My mother acted as my own personal tutor at times. In preparation for spelling tests we would take a cookie sheet and cover it in shaving cream. After my mom gave me a word I would spell it out in the shaving cream. This helped me to visualize the words while incorporating some fun into studying. First grade was nightmare for me, My teacher, Mrs. Quarter had suggested to my parents that I be held back because I was so far behind compared to the other children in my class. At times we would read together in class, taking turns by going around the room. It was embarrassing when the book came to me and every other word I would stumble and need help with pronunciation. Although Mrs. Quarter suggested I be held back a year that was not what she wanted. At times she would stay after school with me to practice reading with me which greatly benefited me. With Mrs. Quarters help my reading and writing greatly improved and by the end of my second grade year I was on honor roll. As I grew older and transferred to Troy City Schools I felt that my classes had gotten easier, especially English. I excelled in English, I will credit my English teacher Mrs. ... • 7. Research Plan: Does Autocorrect Technology Help Us Learn? Introduction Is technology making us smarter or dumber? With the increase in the use of smartphones and autocorrect technology for the past ten years, the eras of the dictionary are over. These days, corrections are made with a mindless click of a button, which does not allow the users think themselves. Individuals have a tendency to use spell check more often than actually knowing how to spell a word, or how to use grammar correctly. Technologies like word prediction can compare a typed word with a word in the dictionary list and recognize a mismatch as a misspelled word. This helps the writers who unconsciously reorder the letters a lot while typing. It can also assist a writer in guessing the spelling of a word. With the widespread ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The results also illustrated that there was no proper grammar in terms of punctuation and capitalization. In today's world of text messaging, through short messaging system many users are using abbreviated and non conventional language which has a negative consequence on literacy. Powell and Dixon (2011) worked on the impact of texting abbreviations called 'textisms', misspellings and correctly spelled words on adults spelling. An Example of textism is 'gn', correctly spelled is 'goodnight' and the misspelling is 'gudnite'. They examined a group of participants before and after the exposure of the same words, and found that textisms have a negative impact on participants spelling when compared to misspellings. Research Plan I would like to conduct this research by taking a group of 15 voluntary participants who are a combination of frequent and infrequent texting users of different age groups, gender, major, and student status from our University. I would like to create a survey through SurveyMonkey.com and send this survey to all the participants. The survey contains some basic questions, asking for age, gender, major, and student status. There will be another set of questions asking for how often do they text, do they think it's appropriate to use texting abbreviations, how often they use spell check, how often they use auto correction, what is the most common word they misspell, what was their most embarrassing grammar mistake. I would like to have a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. International Perspectives on Early Childhood Education An increased awareness of the implications of quality experiences in the early years has resulted in a growing interest in early childhood education. Subsequently, this has generated an interest in differing examples of early childhood curriculums. The following essay will critique the international approach, Te Whãriki and compare the New Zealand educational system to the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum of the United Kingdom. The essay will include reflection upon the similarities and differences of these approaches upon my settings practice. Today's society has recognised that significant investment in early year's provision has valuable long term effects on young children, families and the wider community. Cited in (Papatheodorou and Moyles, p1) As a result government intervention has increased as policy makers attempt to raise standards and improve the quality of early years education. However these policies have prompted much debate such as child centred versus outcome based or play versus instruction. Headlines such as "Too much too soon" or "The nappy curriculum", (Tasker, 2011) demonstrate societies conflicting views on what is best for children, generating an interest in comparisons between other countries policies and programs. Early year's provision is different from country to country depending upon that countries beliefs and goals of provision. Countries such as Sweden originally

Students used to have to bring home a textbook every night, but with the modern technology, they can log onto an online textbook. There are some instructors who believe that pencil and paper are slowly dwindling down into nothingness. Other educators believe that technology has helped benefit their student's education and don't worry about pencil and paper. Technology has its advantages and disadvantages in the classroom. Compared to the positive effects, the list of negatives are nowhere near as long. Some of the negative effects include not paying attention in class, not being on task, or even playing a game in the middle of a lecture. Wolpert says that "As technology has played a bigger role in our lives, our skills in critical thinking and analysis have declined, while our visual skills have improved". This means that students are paying more attention to technology and visual stimulants than books and worksheets. They would rather look up the answer than do the work themselves. In the role plays that I performed in class I did not use all the interpersonal skills as I did in my presentation because some were not necessary such as summarising and paraphrasing because there was nothing to summarise and there was nothing that I had to change into my own words, however there was some interpersonal skills that I should have demonstrated and need to improve such as intonation because I struggle to vary the tone of my voice and this is something I need to improve on the next time I'm presenting a presentation or performing a role play in class. General In general in everyday life I demonstrate some interpersonal skills well such as active engagement because when people are talking to me I show that I am listening to them by doing things such as nodding when a person says something I agree with or to show that I have understood what they are saying, also in everyday life I have good use of intonation which is important so that people know how you are feeling. • 13. Strengths And Weaknesses In English Class Did you know that 92 percent of all English students end up passing the class, but that only 84 percent of choir students pass English class? In elementary school, I was able to write and read efficiently. However, my comprehension of what as I read as I got older was not as good as it could have been. I was able to read books and understand the main points, but often I would forget little details. My past few years in English have been successful and I have been able to achieve many of the goals I have set for myself as an English student. In this paper, I will address my strengths, my weaknesses, what I enjoy the most, and how I learn the best. I have some strengths and weaknesses and ways I learn the best doing hands–on learning and activities. My strengths in English are writing papers and doing hands–on stuff. My weaknesses are comprehending things and doing bookwork. In my previous years of English, I have done well and my grades are proof of that. I have averaged A's and B's. One of my major strengths has been projects where I have to make a google slide presentation and then present it in front of the class. Tests are also a strong point for me in English. This is because I am able to make connections easily and link ideas back to main details. However, sometimes I struggle to make connections if I did not understand or enjoy the material, but for the most part, making connections and doing well on tests has always been a strength of mine. • 14. Reflection About Reading And Writing It was my second grade year, I was only 7 years old, when I first found my hatred of anything that had to do with reading or writing. Every week my teacher would give us a lengthy list of vocabulary words that we had to memorize before our spelling test the following week. I would study for periods at a time trying to memorize this gruesome lists of words, that I could never commemorate. When it came down to the day of the test I would see all my classmates at ease, while I would panic trying to remember what I studied. When it finally became time to take the test, I heard the teacher call the word "island", but I couldn't concentrate. I was frustrated, I couldn't think, the teacher would ask "is everyone ready to move on", but I wouldn't say anything, because I was too shy. After a couple of days I would get my score back, and wasn't surprised when I found out that I had failed the test. Weekley this was recurring theme when I got my spelling test returned. Eventually, I accepted the fact that reading and writing was not for me. Although my second grade experience was terrible, my third grade year gave me an experience that I never had with literacy. My teacher Mrs. Quinn, would give us a list of vocabulary words, but instead of us memorizing them, we would have to create a story using these words. This opened my eyes to a component of literacy that I never explored. I had total creative freedom, something that I wasn't familiar with. The first set of words, was over ... I do, however remember sitting helpless, lost in my own world as I watched the others in the classroom scream with excitement as they recited the ABC's and sang songs while sitting on a large rug. I giggled and laughed along with them, somewhat mimicking them. I recall my teacher, many times, redirecting my attention to the lesson. I was much less amused by reading and writing; which my teacher, Mrs. Garcia felt was the most important in her class. I hated reading. I hated writing more. • 19. Dysgraphia Dyslexia affects the way a student reads but another specific learning disability, dysgraphia, also affects the way a student writes (Adam 1). Dysgraphia is a condition that causes people trouble with writing due to poor handwriting (Adam 1). Students with ASDs are at an increased risk of developing dysgraphia (Adam 1). Children with ASDs do not learn motor skills as regularly as a normal developing student would (Versfeld 1). Because of this many students do not develop the fine motor skills needed to hold a pencil correctly, which could result in messy, unreadable handwriting (Adam 1). Another symptom of dysgraphia is poor grasp of spelling, grammar and punctuation (Adam 1). There are a number of ATs to help students with all these deficiencies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are generally used in conjunction with another AT, such as word–prediction programs or freeform database softwares (Stanberry 4). Word processors may be helpful to students who prefer to use a keyboard as opposed to a pencil and paper (Stanberry 4). It also allows the user to edit and correct their written work more efficiently than by hand (Stanberry 4). Speech–recognition programs, which are mainly used for students whose oral language skills are better than their writing skills, work in conjunction with word processors (Stanberry 5). A user dictates their work into a microphone and their spoken words appear on the computer screen as text (Stanberry 5). Paper– based computer pens records and links audio to what the person writes using the pen and special paper (Stanberry 4). This enables the user to take notes while simultaneously recording what the teacher is saying (Stanberry 4). The user is then able to listen to any section of the notes by touching the pen to the corresponding handwriting or diagrams (Stanberry 4). This device can also be used for students with listening issues (Stanberry 4). These ATs can assist students who struggle with various areas of language ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From writing a sentence in first grade to five page essays your senior year. It feels like your pen has never left the paper, and the reality of it is, is that it will not be leaving anytime soon. Most occupations will require you to write – whether it be an expense report or an e–mail, ergo, it would be in your best interest to be knowledgable of how to write well and all the rules that come along with that. Writing is and always will be important because you will always be writing, regardless of if you enjoy to or not. With that being said, here are some key writing rules one should know about: punctuation, run on sentences, spelling, tense, and audience. These rules will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without punctuation a sentence may say, "Do you want to eat Dad?" What you actually meant was, "Do you want to eat, Dad?" Without the comma the subject was eating the father, but with the comma the subject was asking the father a question. Both sentences had the same words, yet that small mark of punctuation made all the difference. Along with punctuation comes run on sentences. Without punctuation the reader would not know when to pause and would just keep reading. Punctuation is key when avoiding that deep, dark path of run on sentences. Run on sentences are extremely unprofessional and confuse the reader. If you feel that your sentence may be too long, just add a comma where appropriate, or just turn the sentence into two sentences. Furthermore, another significant writing rule is spelling. If you turn in a resume with something misspelled, you might as well forget any chance you ever had getting that job. Spelling is such an easy rule to check for, yet it's one of the most common mistakes one will make. Spelling only takes a few minutes to check, especially with programs such as spell check on Microsoft Word. Another way to check for spelling would be to just actually read over what you just wrote. We had to wait a couple minutes for some of the students to get back from extra reading practice. When I went up to the front of the room a lot of the students got excited. Considering I was somebody new, they thought it would be fun for me to teach them. I first asked the students what long vowel sounds they have been working on and almost all of the students raised their hands. I was very proud of the fact that I did not have any trouble with names when I was calling on them. I started the lesson with those questions in order to get them ready for the lesson, it was a quick warm up in order to start thinking about what we will be doing. Next I told the students what we would be doing and that we will be working with the white boards and I dismissed the students by their table groups, which are North, South and West. This worked really well and made it so there wasn't a huge cluster around the white boards. The time that I allotted for the students getting the materials was perfect. All their chunks were in their spelling words. Then I had my students focus on their phonics lesson for the week which was /er/, /ir/, and /ur/. I explained to the students that r is the boss and when it is standing by a vowel it makes one sound. To produce the words that I needed to write I squeezed the red berry juice onto the log and wrote, "I love my three kids Meagan, Maddy and Emma and Eddie too my name is Amy Lynn Johnson." It proved to be very difficult to write those eighteen words for many reasons. First, it was difficult to write small enough to fit so many words onto my log because the juice from the berries would run. I also found that the berries had to be extremely ripe in order to produce the dark red juice, for if they were not yet ready the juice inside ran clear. Next, I found that without a sharp point it was difficult to even shape or form the letters themselves, and the rounded edges of the berries were not strong enough to withstand the pressure that my hand was placing on them. • 30. Sacrifice In Margaret Atwood's 'Spelling' The term "sacrifice" can provoke different connotations, whether it is through religion, or giving something up for someone else, or and offering. Regardless, sacrifices have become a staple in culture throughout history, and the meaning has shifted and grown with time. In Margaret Atwood's poem, "Spelling" images of women and sacrifice become a prevalent part. The poem speaks to women who have made sacrifices and the literal sacrifices that women have become through the course of history. Atwood, through the images and tales of sacrifice, exposes the oppression of women as authors and as mothers, and more specifically through the act of language and writing. In the second stanza of the poem, the narrator of "Spelling" poses the question of how many women have sacrificed having daughters, in order to pursue their careers as writers, as well as the action needed for a women writer to accomplish this: I wonder how many women denied themselves daughters, closed themselves in rooms, drew the curtains so that they could mainline words. Witch burnings were done when a women was said to be possessed by evil spirits or had made a deal with the devil. The use of the word "Ancestress" (21) indicates that this witch is the predecessor for all current women writers. When her mouth is "covered" (22), she is being blocked, unable to speak and share her thoughts. The "leather" (22) is used to "strangle" (23) words. The use of "strangle" has a double meaning. The first is the rope strangles her and physically crushes her vocal cords so she is incapable of speech. • 31. My Writing For Health Class I don't remember how old I was, or even what grade I was in. After all, several decades have gone by since then. What I do recall is my utter disbelief the day my mother suddenly altered our usual homework chatter. Typically, I'd shout out how to spell a word and then mom would holler back the series of letters, steadily and three at a time. But not that day. "What do you mean, look it up myself?" I hollered back, clearly confused. I could hear the water running and dishes clinking as she washed up from lunch. Her response took a few seconds, which felt like forever. "Look it up yourself." She finally repeated. I winced. Is this because I didn't do so well on my last spelling quiz? "No mom, I'm not doing spelling, I'm writing my report for health class." I tried again, pencil still poised mid–sentence on the blue line of the paper waiting for the letters to come. "That's ok. The dictionary's right there on your shelf." She replied with that parental hint of finality. "But mom..." I groaned the words, "how am I supposed to look it up if I don't know how to spell it?" Only the sounds of her motions around the kitchen came as a reply. "I'll never get to go outside and play." I muttered to myself before moving woodenly over to wrestle with the giant tome that was my mother's dictionary. I didn't appreciate it (at all) at the time, as children so often don't, but occasionally mothers actually do know best. This proved to be a significant juncture in my literacy development, not ... • 32. Giving Advice For Communication Tech Users Giving Advice to Communication Tech Users Communication is involved in both virtual setting and face to face settings. You may not think so, but it is true. There is a lack of effective communication in a email that people may not realize. It really depends on who you are sending that email to. If you are talking to someone who is like a friend, boy friend or girlfriend, or relative, you may text them with emojois and exclamation marks. Now, if you were sending an email to a doctor, a lawyer, or for a job application, it would be completely different. You would sound more mature. Do you see the difference? Although, it is important to have effective communication in every single email, it does not matter who you are talking to. Here are some mistakes people make sending an email, and also solutions to make the email better and have effective communication.  Mistake: People are not clear with their messages: This can make the person that is reading this very confused. They are not getting the main idea across of what the email is about. Then you two would keep going back and forth with emails.  Solution: How to make your email clear and specific is to look at the email as an outline for writing a one page essay. That means make bullet points for the parts you want to say in your email. You want to make it clear and short. Don't make your email sound like a list of things because you may repeat the same thing. You want the person who is reading the email to have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. 1.1 Explain The Difficulties Of Using English Language Transcriptional Again using the standards of a year 6 pupil within national curriculum, it shows that in relation to transcriptional areas it is clear that this child is quite confident with their spelling and handwriting. There are more strengths than weaknesses. This child has the ability to spell words with a silent letter, such as, like and would. Their ability to use homophones is clearly shown especially in words like would, were, look and wear. However, it was noticed that this child struggled with the homophone their and there, due to incorrectly using this in their writing e.g. 'this argument is about if their should be' rather than using there. In their writing only one spelling mistake was noticed, which was about, incorrectly spelt– ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parts of the child's writing, such as, the grammar used could be overcome by teaching this as a whole class, by year 6 children should write plausible sentences that make sense. Therefore, modelling to the whole class a sentence which isn't clear and asking them to discuss why it is incorrect and what they could do to improve this is a way to get children actively thinking and guiding each other's learning or even allowing the child to proof read their work again to ensure it makes sense in their head before carrying out the previous activity. To help up level punctuation, it would be useful to model a sentence with punctuation including question marks, semi–colons, dashes etc. and allow the child to use one of their sentences, in order to up level that by using a variety of punctuation that is set at a year 6 standard within the national curriculum. The child seems to be quite confident with transcriptional areas, apart from the few areas mentioned therefore to help with those particular issues, as a teacher it would be an idea to just mark these areas or highlight them to make it clear that they are incorrect. After the child has looked at the marking, talk it through with them to ensure they have a clear understanding of how they went wrong and how to fix it. Allowing the use of a thesaurus and dictionary will enable the child to use a bigger range of vocabulary or even allowing them to use words from the national curriculum for year 6 to see if they could include some of these in their writing, this will be a good way to influence a higher level piece of writing. After analysing this child's piece of work and going through how they could improve, an idea would be to give the child another writing frame which they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Negative Effects Of Technology In Education The popularity of technology is growing larger and faster than ever. The problem is, we may never be able to catch up to it. The young adolescent adults seemed to be more interested in technology. Some experts claim that it does more harm than value. In terms of education, technology is becoming more and more popular and used among many school districts, although this can come with complications and allows students to ease threw assignments without having to fix their own problems. Also, technology can affect teenagers social abilities and let strangers have access to personal information. Education has found its way into the loop of technology. Teachers are using ipads and laptops during class time to help conduct experiments, or share a presentation. This is allowing the students to gain instant access to the information they are seeking. Students also receive the opportunity to complete their homework online and print off their assignments instead of just using paper and pencil. Another pro for Technology in Education, there are countless sources out there which help enhance learning. In one research conducted, they compared the performance of teaching kids how to read a clock. One group was coached by an online app, another was shown by a toy clock, and the last group was trained by a drawing example. The results revealed that the children that were taught by the toy and app exceeded the paper drawing group (Galetzka). However, some would say that within education, the use of technology can influence students to cheat or take the easy way out on their assignments. "Students today can easily access essays, reports, class notes, tests, etc. online, making it that much more difficult for teachers to know if the work their students hand in is original" (Ronan). This dilemma interferes with teenagers processing new information. The Internet is a great tool; however, teens may rely too heavily on it, and worse, believe everything they see. I believe that the internet can be a great source to gain more knowledge, however, one needs to acknowledge how to effectively use this tool to benefit them. Next, technology helps us complete tedious tasks. For example, you are writing an essay and you are not an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. My Reading Journey My Reading Journey Reading is everywhere, it is one basic skill that we all must learn at some point in our life. Whether it is reading a book, text messages, posters, or a billboard. Everybody has their own success story on who and what taught them how to read. Most have been taught by their parents as a child, others had the help of sibling and school teachers. Between my mom, older sister, school events and my teachers I could master the art of reading. At an early age, I discovered this deep desire for education which helped prosper in school. Many different events in my life lead up to my ability to read. There are words all arounds no matter where we go, so not learning how to read was never an option for me. My mother got me interested in reading first because as a child she would sit me on her lap and read short children stories to me. At night time, she would tuck me in and read me a bed time story. Her voice flowed so smoothly through each word and she even mad the sound effects to make the story come alive. It became a point in time where I would no longer wait for my mother to read to me, I would take out a book and attempt to read on my own. Not knowing what any of the words meant or what they were saying I would try my best to read them still. That was only the beginning for me, when I enrolled in kindergarten and my teacher would assign homework to us there was always some form of reading that was required. • 36. The Vancouver Island Eco Initiatives TThe proposal I have selected is the 'Vancouver Island Eco Initiatives – Request Proposals VIEI – 11– 02', this proposal talks about creating a support system for the students at Camosun College. It is economically friendly in the way that the 're–use, recycle' method would be put into place at both campuses. The proposal itself says that it will create financial support for students at both campuses, but has very poor English and vocabulary, and the main point is not made clear. Of what I could understand the individual who wrote this paper wants to set up a student funded flea market of sorts, where students could buy tables from Costco that cost $20 and sell their textbooks, non–perishable food items, etc at reasonable prices to other students. I recommend for this proposal that whoever wrote it, go back and go through spell check, as words like 'money' were spelled incorrectly all the way through, and that a lot of their vocabulary is very basic and hard to follow or understand. 'The Plan' section seems more like a budget than anything else, it doesn't tell you how the student society will be brought into the mix as it mentioned in the Introduction, or how they will garner the attention of students to volunteer and spend the $20.00 on the table, or how the 8 000.00 a year will be distributed among everyone involved. I recommend that the writer re–visit 'The Plan' section and actually add in a more detailed plan, including how they plan on getting students involved, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Reflection Papers I have been teaching writing for many years. As a result, I have a variety of papers for students to write that I know are possible for third graders to write. In addition, each year and group of students is different so I adjust the papers they write based on the level of the group and the needs of the individual student. We work together on planning our papers through a step by step scaffolding process and modeling so that students have assistance with the planning process. The next stage is for me to walk around to monitor the students and determine what assistance they need. I check for understanding of the assignment and make suggestions as needed and to confirm they will be able to write this paper. During this time, I will assist them with any spelling issues they may have. In addition, I conference one on one with each student and will help them with spelling during this time. Since I don't teach spelling, this process has worked the best. Finally, I do teach cursive handwriting so this is a skill that we work on weekly. My goal is to finish each of the letters in the first semester and practice these skills in the second. We are departmentalized so I am only able to see their work in writing and science. We do write a science research paper on the animal of their choice which gives them the opportunity to apply their writing skills to science. In addition, we write an instruction manual for a simple machine. My goal is to integrate writing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a writer, I have always enjoyed knowing that I do not have to speak aloud for people to know what I want to say. Everyone who writes has his or hers strengths and weaknesses, some different from others. I like to read other peoples' works and know that what they're talking about is familiar to me. Also, I enjoy being able to relate to someone else's experiences or opinions, finding something I have in common with someone else helps me get through their paper easier. Most students are graduating with less knowledge and capability than similar students in other industrialized countries. Classroom disruptions are surprisingly common, and in some classrooms, nearly continuous. The public education system is having difficulty adjusting to the no child left behind act. The No Child Left Behind(NCLB) is a landmark in education reform designed to improve student achievement and change the culture of American's schools. During academics on Tuesday, March 15th, 2016 at 5 o'clock the lesson on summarizing was given to first graders. The lesson was introduced by the teacher in a fun and exciting way. The teacher asked who has played football or if the students have a favorite team. Some students mentioned the teams their parents liked and others didn't know anything about football. Then, the teacher handed out a worksheet that had the word "Football" in bold and larger text in the top middle section of the page. The top half of the worksheet had two sections, to its left it had a paragraph that consisted of nine sentences and to the right, a picture of a football player about to throw the football and someone covering him and another person from the opposite team trying to stop him. As the teacher read the short paragraph, the students read along with her. There were seven students during the lesson and they all seem to enjoy reading about football. After reading the paragraph some students wanted to discuss football teams, but the teacher mentioned that they are going to get a chance to express their preferences about their favorite team later and to focus on only the short story about football.
