Critical Analysis Of The Clash Of Civilization
In The Clash of Civilization, Samuel P. Huntington argues that globalization has united cultures that were normally very withdrawn. It has increased
contact between these cultures, which then led to an increase in misunderstanding, resentment, and eventually conflict. Huntington also hypothesizes
that the leading factor of conflict in the 21st century will be the differences between cultures. This will eventually result in the change of dominance
within civilizations to different civilizations. Lastly, he also predicts that the West, Arab nations, such as Saudi Arabia, and China will also have and an
increase in cultural conflict with one another.
Huntington then goes on to hypothesize that the ultimate source of conflict in this world will not only be ideological or economical but the division
between human kind will mostly take place because of the cultural conflict. He says that "The clash of civilizations will dominate global politics. The
fault lines between civilizations will be the battle lines of the future."(82). In order to have a better and concise understanding of Huntington's "Clash of
Civilizations?" it is necessary to understand the strengths of his argument. The strengths in his argument are well portrayed through his division of the
world in eight different civilizations and also through his explanation of why there is conflict between cultures. Also, he portrays that cultural issues
tend to be more complicated to resolve than political dilemmas. These

Comparison Of Mythical Creatures In Arabian Nights And...
Culture differences in the world are reflected in the novels from different regions of the world. Arabian Nights is a novel full of Arabian stories and
folktales gathered from the Islamic Golden Age, while The Journey to the West, also known as "XiYouJi" is a Chinese novel full of folk tales from the
Ming Dynasty. The Journey to the West is now a popular cartoon and storybook for children in China. These two novels differ slightly in characters,
and religion, and the historical context, but they both have the same underlying principles.
Mythical creatures are almost always literary creatures that generated popularity out of literary circulation and storytelling. They are legendary
creatures that at one point were believed to be real beings, while some have their origin traced from literary myths. The mythical creatures used in
Arabian Nights consists of Jinni, while The Journey to the West consists of mythical creatures such as the Scorpion Demon. When comparing these
creatures, a question begins to arise. Why are mythical creatures part of literature? Mythical creatures are archetypes that form from the collective
unconscious of people. These creatures can be found in any culture at any time. They may take a multitude of forms in both Arabian Nights and Journey

A Buddhist monk, Xuan Zang traveled to India to search for Buddhist scriptures. The Tang Dynasty era was the time period in which Buddhism
expanded and began to spread its influence across all of China. Around one hundred Chinese monks traveled to India to deepen their understanding of
the new religion. The Journey to the West, first published anonymously in 1592, fuses all these monks into one figure of Tang Sanzang. The stories in

The Characters Of Aisha And Khadija
The Prophet's pietistic norms are archetypes in which Muslims, as a piety of knowledge, are intrigued to comprehend more about the messenger's
social gestures. There have been various inquiries concerning the prophet's marriage, the traits of Muhammad as a husband and the normative of his
sexual life. Although the prophet had consummated his marriage with eleven of his thirteen wives, Khadija and Aisha were the Prophet's most
preference and beloved ones. No doubts, both Aisha and Khadija manifested the entitlement " The Mother of the Muslim Believers;"though, they both
embedded different characters and witnessed the Prophet sexually in varying views. Therefore, the community had portrait Aisha and Khadija's
embodiments relatively to their suppositions of gender and sexuality, since that Muhammad married both of his wives during discrete periods. In this
Essay, I intend to answer the exam's inquiry, thoroughly, through three factions: At first, providing both characters of Aisha and Khadija. Secondly,
representing clear differences in the way, they were told and the views they described gender and sexuality. Finally, Juxtaposing the discrepancies
between the two stories and what they present.
Both Characters of Aisha and Khadija According to Ibn Ishaq chronicle of Khadija's social status prior to her marriage to Muhammad, she was a
wealthy– respected women merchant in which many tribal elites were burgeoned to propose marriage to her, though. Throughout what Khadija

Australia The Land Of Opportunity Essay
Before the 11th of September, 2001, Australia had been a home to the Al–Jamil family. Granted, it was never the same as their home country of Iraq,
but it was a place to live and they were content. Australia, the Land of Opportunity, would bring her family success and happiness. The day that news
services across the globe began to broadcast the events of 9/11 was the day that this began to change.
***
It happened slowly at first, with strange looks in the street and the word "terrorist" constantly on the lips of strangers. But soon it became obvious to
the Fatimah, as whispers turned into harsh words, and harsh words became fists. The day that her younger brother, Farhad, came home from school
with a black eye, and tears rolling down his face, was the day that the change became physical. Mama and Papa called the school, asking for answers,
but were given none, being told that if no teacher had seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Islam is not terrorism. My Islam is a religion of peace. A belief cannot have any feelings, yet you are all so convinced that mine hates yours! Allah

classmates. "They are not Islam. You think that because we live in your country we should be grateful to you, but you don't know that we are
realising it was the biggest, most irreversible mistake we have made. We, Australian Muslims, are just as Australian as you. We deserve the same
freedoms, and the same respect. There must be 23 million ways to be Australia. Stop judging mine and focus on yours."
Fatimah sat down, to shocked stares and disagreeing words. Satisfied that she had gotten her point across, she took in a deep breath. There would
always be those who didn't understand, who would hate and judge. Her family was here for life and opportunity. But maybe Australia isn't the Land of

Martin Beam's Homeless Prevention Program
As I read through the final chapters of Beam's book, I felt both hopeful and disheartened. I feel that the original premise or goal of the child welfare
system is to ensure that children have a family. A family that is capable of appropriately caring for a child and providing them with unconditional
love. Pat O' Brien and Chester Jackson's program, You Gotta Believe! resonates with this goal. There homeless prevention program addresses a
principle issue of foster care that the system has not properly addressed, so it seems. According to Pat, an estimated 50 percent of the current homeless
population consists of individuals that were once in care. Pat and Jackson saw a need to address the damaging aspects of growing up in care, by

Once the honeymoon period of the promise of new beginnings ended, the spell of being a foster parent quickly died due to the frustration that
stemmed from a lack of support from the system. It was tragic, especially because I had high hopes of it working out and I became increasingly
happy as it seemed it would or at least could have with the proper support. Another concern, were the weekly advertisements in which the teens had to
sell themselves to prospective families. Although, the intentions behind it are noble, I feel that the youth are again being likened to merchandise for
sale, only this time they're on display which is unsettling. It almost reminded me of an escort service. Like Beam, I worry that these videos can

Alienation In The Tiger
S.Rajaratnam's Tiger is an anti–colonial narrative that advocates Malayan nationalistic messages for peaceful co–existence in a plural society that faces
further complexities from political spheres. The Tiger undeniably continues to serve as a national narrative crucial for contemporary Singapore society
because of its present complex multiracial composition and the faithful upholding of colonial power structure which are similar to societal features of
the colonial period. Through such anti–colonial narrative, Rajaratnam advocates a decolonisation process that is based on compassion and humanity, as
resonated in Jameson Bretch's thought provoking idea of alienation. Although it is ironic to use Bretch's idea of alienation derived from dialectic ...

Considering Bretch's idea of defamiliarisation, the tiger creates a distance through its foreign nature and ambiguity. Thus, the ordinary relationship
between the tiger and Fatimah is rendered strange and unexpected due to the dehumanising and oppressive impressions created in the text through their
relationship. To view the tiger as majestic, yet an animal, it resonates the dehumanisation of Malaya. Also, from dehumanising description of Fatimah
as one of "plump, brown figure, and accentuated the full breasts and womb of a pregnant woman [with] the round, high–cheekboned face, so typical of
the Malays" (99), highlights the colonial male gaze in objectifying the Malay woman, where the nuances within racial and gendered oppression is
subtly yet strongly emphasised. This calls for the anti–colonial story by Rajaratnam, as the idea of "othering" practiced during the colonial period
serves as an acute hindrance for humanity, co–existence and creation of independent Malayan identity. Additionally, the strong parallel between the
tiger and Fatimah in their immersion in the natural world is significant in highlighting the value of compassion and humanity for peaceful co–existence.
Their motherhood, along with the motif of pregnancy, portrays the fierce instincts for survival and protection, like how the nation is driven to protect

The Abu Bakr Masjid : The Islamic Center Of San Diego
I had the privilege to conduct field research at the Abu Bakr Masjid, also known as the Islamic Center of San Diego on Friday, October 9, 2015. I
attended both salat al–Maghrib and a lecture given by Imam Sh. Taha Hassane. Salat al–Maghrib is the "West sun" prayer which takes place five
minutes after sunset. Salat al–Maghrib started around 6:37 p.m. Imam Taha Hassane's lecture started at 7:00 p.m. and ended at 8:01 p.m. before the
last prayer of the day: salat al–'Isha'a. Imam Taha Hassane was already waiting for me outside of the mosque. The first matter he explained was that
it was considered proper to enter the masjid (mosque) with my right foot first and exit with my left foot first. Furthermore, I was also explained that
in order to enter the prayer hall, I needed to be in a state of ritual purity. This purification consists of ablutions, called wudu', which involve the
washing of the feet, hands, head and face. Once I completed the ablutions, Imam Taha Hassane instructed me to take off my shoes in the designated
cabinets in the hallway. This is primarily done to ensure that no outside dirt would violate the sacred space. At Abu Bakr Masjid, like in many other
mosques around the Muslim world, genders are separated–men pray in the main prayer hall while women pray upstairs in a separate prayer room.
When I asked why, Imam Taha simply explained that it was a matter of modesty and concentration. Once inside the prayer hall, the imam explained to
me that in a mosque there

Advantages Of Apostasy
3.0 Apostasy
3.1 Whether the civil courts or the Syariah courts should have the jurisdiction to hear apostasy cases?
For Muslims, the issue of conversion out of Islam or apostasy raises significant religious and political considerations. The adoption of Islam as the
religion of the Federation under Article 3 and the compulsory subjection of Muslims to the Syariah in a number of matters are reasons why the
conversion of a Muslim out of Islam arouses revulsion and anger among the Malays or Muslim citizens. The controversy regarding the issue of
apostasy, specifically in relation to the application the constitutional provisions for the freedom of religion to Muslims, remains unresolved. However,
recently, there were some interesting decisions in both civil and Syariah courts regarding the issue of apostasy.
One of the apostasy cases is the case of Fatimah Tan Abdullah @ Tan Abdullah v. Majlis Agama Islam Pulau Pinang. The Syariah High Court allowed

jurisdiction of the Syariah Court. By virtue of Article 121(1A), the civil court has no jurisdiction over the subject–matter. Soon Singh and Lina Joy

of Sethe's most mortifying memories was having her breast milk stolen from her. Something she herself produced wasn't able to keep essentially
broke her. "After I left you, those boys came in there and took my milk. That's what they came in there for. Hold me down and took it" (Morrison

much more traumatic to her than the rape itself brings out the real consequence of her rape. For the rest of Sethe's life, she could never forget the
assault and makes it her goal to never let anyone she loves, especially her children, experience the same thing. Morrison portrays that much of her rage
originates from the stolen milk, when her true ire stems from the rape. Although her hasty decision spared her daughter from a fate alike hers they still

Problem Areas Nonnative Speakers of English Often Have...
INTRODUCTION
Pronunciation is an essential part of language. According to Fries (1945), the main problem in learning a new language is not the vocabulary but it is
instead the mastery of the sound system, which is to understand the stream of speech and to hear distinctive sound features. Pronunciation is important
to avoid misunderstandings when communicating. It is seen as a prerequisite for the development of speaking skill (Celce–Murcia & Goodwin, 1991).
Pronunciation, according to Microsoft Encarta 2007, means "the way in which a sound, word, or language is articulated, especially in conforming to
an accepted standard". According to Hinofotis and Bailey (1981, as cited by Celce–Murcia and Goodwin, 1991), one will not be able to ... Show more

Word stress is important in English since misunderstandings can occur because of mistakes in word stress. Stressing on wrong points in English
sometimes makes words in English meaningless. For example, if one is given two words "metal" and "motel" with stress on the second syllable, it will
be pronounced /mә'tæl/ and /ma:tәl/. When this pronunciation is applied in a sentence like, "I carried the metal to the motel", then the sentence
becomes confusing and meaningless.
Another feature of the English language that should be noted by nonnative speakers is that pronouncing the same word with stresses on different
syllables can alter the meaning of the word. For example, if the word "permit' is stressed on the first syllable, it will become noun, and if on the
second syllable, the word becomes a verb.
According to Mennen (2006), second language learners often have problems placing stresses at the correct syllable, especially in the beginning of the
learning process. This is because some languages do not use stress much and some, like Japanese and French, none at all (EnglishClub.com, 2007).
This means that each syllable of words is pronounced with equal emphasis. It would be difficult for the nonnative speakers to identify which syllable
should be stressed or not. This will lead to misunderstandings when speaking to native speakers as they usually listen to the stresses to understand the
real message conveyed.

Wwe By Fatimah Asghar, A Light Is Shone On The Tendencies...
In the poem WWE by Fatimah Asghar, a light is shone on the tendencies of Americans to praise men and masculinity. More than that, Asghar provides
insight to her own experiences with American culture as a Pakistani woman trying to find her way in this country. In the poem, Asghar expresses her
pride for her country, while simultaneously discussing the assimilation of her aunt to American culture. In this way, she uses this poem as an outlet to
express her experience of becoming American. Through the use of passionate diction, realistic imagery, couplet form, Asghar is able to paint a clear
picture of the struggles of immigrants trying to assimilate to American culture, and the relationships between man and woman. Asghar starts the poem
off by describing her aunt's actions as she prepares what is most likely dinner for husband. She describes her actions using "rolls" and "pounds".
These specific words can be seen as a parallel to how one would describe the men in WWE. However, by using these specific masculine descriptors
combined with the action of making her traditional native food, Asghar is able to create a parallel to her native culture and American culture. She is
also able to show the reader that embracing a new culture does not mean you have to leave all semblances of your previous culture behind. She does
this again when she discusses her aunt watching these men on TV with "kajaled" eyes. Kajal is the application of kohl, or eyeliner. This is customary

Muslim, and Hassan, his servant and friend, a Shi'a Muslim. The two shouldn't be friends by the standards, but all they know is friendship. Everything
says that Shiite's and Sunnis shouldn't be friends. But the two boys find happiness in their relationship. This is all about the two divisions and how
they are the same and how they're different. The Sunni consider themselves the more orthodox and traditional group of the two divisions. The word
Sunni comes from "Ahl al–Sunna", the people of the tradition. The tradition in this case refers to practices based on precedent or reports of the actions
of the Prophet Muhammad and those close to him (BBC News). The Sunni division makes up roughly 80% of the Muslim population. The Sunni

What Is Kampog Glam Essay
Introduction of Kampong Glam
On 7 July 1989, the historic district of Kampong Glam was officiated as a conservation area in Singapore.
Decades ago, Kampong Glam housed people from the Malay Peninsula, Java, Sumatra, Celebes Islands, Riau and Southern Arabia which are mainly
Muslim immigrants and are positioned based largely on their prominence, social and economic status. As time passes, Indian and Chinese immigrants
began to reside in the same area, making it a multiethnic community.
The Kampong Glam trail that I embarked on includes 12 main destinations, namely the Malay Heritage Centre, Gedung Kuning, Masjid Sultan,

what's on the outside but within. Asghar wants women to love themselves for what they have and not the superficial aspects of life.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Oxide Nanoparticle
Nowadays, in adsorptive separation and purification, activated carbon, zeolites, activated alumina, and silica gels, as existing commercial sorbents,
have important roles. However, innovative technological developments are needed in the new economy and under the stringent environmental
regulations. Despite very promising features of the newly developed nanostructured sorbent materials, basically exploring and systematic investigations
are needed on both synthesis methods and adsorption characteristic studies (Deng 2006).
The goal of nanotechnology is to make nanostructures or nano arrays with special properties, which do not exist in their bulk or single particle types.
Oxide nanoparticles can present unique physical and chemical properties, because of their limited size and a high density in their corner or edge
surface sites (Fernandez–Garcia & Rodriguez 2009; Bhattacharjee et al. 2011). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Homo Erectus Essay
Homo Erectus
In the quest to explain human origins it is necessary to find a species that bridges modern man (Homo sapiens) with the apes. To fill this gap
evolutionists have set forth Homo erectus, who lived approximately 400,000 to 1.6 million years ago (Johanson and Shreeve1989). Although the
distinctions are somewhat vague, below the neck, Homo sapiens and Homo erectus are practically Identical and Homo erectus was responsible for
pioneering the use of standard tools (such as the hand axe), big–game hunting, and the use of fire (Johanson and Shreeve1989).
You may know Homo erectus as "Java man" or "Peking man"( Johanson and Shreeve 1989). Erectus was low of brow, thick of bone, endowed with a
brain larger than that of its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other than this remarkable jump, the physical features stayed relatively constant over those 1.4 million years(Washburn, McCown 1972). Some
anthropologists say that their supra–orbital ridges were slightly more pronounced than previously, cranial bones were heavier and there was still no
protruding chin but their molars had decreased in size (Washburn, McCown 1972).
Foreheads began to develop in the later members of the species, most likely as a result of an expanding frontal lobe (that part of the brain that we
believe controls many of our higher functions such as reasoning, foresight and concentration) (Johanson and Shreeve 1989). Homo erectus had a lighter
jaw than did Homo Habilis (Johanson and Shreeve 1989).
The following characteristics are generally accepted:
Skull low, broad and elongated Cranial capacity 750–1250 cc Median sagittal ridge Supraorbital ridge Postorbital constriction Receding frontal contour
Occipital bun or torus Nuchal area extended for muscle attachment Cranial wall unusually thick Brain case narrower than zygomatic arch Heavy facial
architecture Large jaw, wide ramus No chin (mentum) Teeth generally large Post
–cranial bones heavy and thick Alveolar (maxilla) prognathism
(Johanson and Shreeve 1992, 82 –83)
At least 222 fossils of Homo erectus have been found to date throughout Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe that support these statistics

Pluto Shits On The Universe
In the poem "Pluto Shits on the Universe," the speaker is rebelling against society's set of mandates, and she is asserting her independence and
autonomy. On the first and last line, Asghar uses the same sentence, "Today, I broke your solar system. Oops. My bad." Repeating the first line at the
ending shows that the statement is important; it sets the tone or theme. As I interpreted the line, I notice that Asghar is being sarcastic about feeling
bad for breaking "your solar system." Yet, she doesn't care, she's tired of society's set of rules, just as "Pluto" doesn't care about ruining the "solar
system." Having this repeated at the intro and at the ending is a way for her to make sure that we understand this rebellious tone. As we continue

Tales From The Thousand And One Nights Storytelling Analysis
Storytelling in Tales from the Thousand and One Nights Storytelling is a major theme in Tales from the Thousand and One Nights that encompasses
every story in the book. Compiled over centuries by numerous authors, it explores a variety of themes throughout the stories. Each story in the book is
one told by Shahrazad to King Shahriyar, and the characters in the stories told by her also tell tales. Shahrazad successfully keeps herself alive by
sharing stories that complement her intentions. Various characters in her stories use storytelling as a way to survive, to teach a lesson, or simply to
entertain. Regardless of the storyteller's intentions, the stories told typically complement each other. In the "Prologue," the frame story is... Show more

King Sinbad cuts his falcon's wings off hastily without considering the effects of his actions. King Yunan illustrates the idea that one should not
act irrationally out of emotion. This inner story complements Shahrazad's intentions. King Sinbad "was stricken with sorrow and remorse for
having so rashly killed the bird which had saved his life" (89). Shahrazad tells this story so that King Shahriyar does not act rashly and kill the one
who is to save his royal bloodline. Shahrazad again illustrates her own virtue by showing how different she is from Fatimah in "The Tale of
Ma'aruf the Cobbler." Fatimah is identified by her "heartless cruelty" (372). By distinguishing Fatimah as a cruel and wicked woman, Shahrazad's
own kindness is emphasized. Shahrazad explores the idea that women do not always lie for no reason at all. The Princess that Ma'aruf marries lies
to the King and the Vizier because she truly loves Ma'aruf. Shahrazad displayed a gentler side of women as compared to the other stories she told.
Jennings 3 Shahrazad employs the embedded narrative device in "The Tale of the Hunchback," as this tale includes many other stories inside. She
does this to add depth to her stories. The characters in the stories tell stories to stall their death or prevent an innocent person from dying. Shahrazad
does the same thing. By stalling her own death she not only keeps herself alive, but also breaks the cycle of other innocent women being

Hazrat Ali Ibn Abi Talib
Hazrat Ali Ibn Abi Talib
Birth of Ali:
Hadrat Ali was the son of Abu Talib, a prominent Quraish chief and custodian of the Holy Ka'bah. The mother of Hadrat Ali was Fatima. Fatima was a
cousin of Abu Talib. Thus, both the father and mother of Hadrat Ali were Hashimites, and that was a great honour. HadratAli was born in unusual
circumstances. On the 13th day of the holy month of Rajab, Fatima, the mother of Hadrat Ali, visited the Ka'bah to perform the pilgrimage. During the
course of the pilgrimage and while circumambulating the Ka'bah, Fatima felt the pangs of childbirth. She retired to a secluded place in the precincts of

Life after Muhammad (during the reign og the 3 caliphs)
Another part of Ali's life started in 632 after death of Muhammad and lasted until assassination of Uthman Ibn Affan, the third caliph in 656.
During these years, Ali neither took part in any battle or conquest.[4] nor did he assume any executive position. He withdrew from political affairs,
especially after the death of his wife, Fatima Zahra. He used his time to serve his family and worked as a farmer. Ali dug a lot of wells and gardens
near Medina and endowed them for public use. These wells are known today as Abar Ali ("Ali's wells").[60] He also made gardens for his family and

Ali did not give his oath of allegiance to Abu Bakr until some time after the death of his wife, Fatimah.[4] Ali participated in the funeral of Abu Bakr

The Roles Of Women Of Andalusia
The Roles of Extraordinary Women of Andalusia Muslim women have the same rights as men and they have to fulfill and attain the same duties of
worship such as prayer, zikr, give money to the poor, fasting, and make pilgrimage to Mecca the holy place. In the pre–Islamic era, the Jahiliya era,
women were not allowed to do anything, they had no rights. Women from the Bedioun tribes had no legal status whatsoever. The fathers forced their
daughters to get married for money and also, many fathers infanticide their daughters because they were seeing as nothing important in the society. The
tribes were all male–controlled. The heritage was passed on to the following generations through male lines. Women had no legal right in inheriting
property. The head of the tribes limited the rights of women and took away their freedom. Prior toIslam, women were seen as property to be seized in
tribal or ethnic battles and conflicts. Women had no possessions or succession rights. Their very essential role was to produce children, especially
male offspring. Women had to cook, milk animals, and wash clothes; they also had to spun wool and wave fabric for the tribal tens. However, when
Islam was found, it gave full rights and freedom to women.
Islam developed the position of women from the Arab cultures. The Sharia Law drew attention to the proper way of marriage for women. Islam
forbids the dowry of a female to be given to her family rather than to the female who is getting married. Islam

Muhammad did not leave clear instructions on who should be next caliph and everyone wanted their family to be the next caliph. A schism happened
between the Shiites and the Sunni because they couldn't decide who should be the next caliph. "Caliph is a religious and political leader of the Muslim
community" This is important because it means whoever is caliph has the most power in the Islamic culture. "Muslims lived by Charity Destiny,

to an argument between the Sunni and Shiites that caused a split between the the Sunni and Shiite. The Sunni believed that the leadership role should

eventually led to the Sunni and Shiite schism. The Sunni prevailed and were able to choose the first caliph after the prophet Muhammad. When this

Summary Of ' A Rose For Emily '
Fatimah Alzauri
ENGL 1010
Re
15 November 2015
Brief Analyzing for "A Rose for Emily"
"A Rose for Emily" is a short horror, tragedy story which contains an interesting connection between its point of view and its plot, moreover,
characters, and setting where the story takes a place, have a portion of making it a noteworthy story. William Faulkner, who wrote "A Rose for Emily"
set it to present a picture of a lonely woman from Mississippi who expires to mental illness. The tragedy in this story is how the main character is
manipulated by her father; this leaves her incapable of having a role in the modern world. After she went insane from living as a recluse, she kept the
corpse of a man that she murdered in an upper room of her house. The horror part of it symbolizes that she was not ready to lose him and cannot accept
the fact that everything does change.
There is not much to say about plot in "A Rose for Emily" . Usually, plot in a story starts with the initial situation, conflict, complication, climax,
suspense, denouement, and conclusion. However, it is not the case here. A great writer such as Faulkner could easily play with the events arrangement
to add some excitement to the story. The plot in the story is not a sequence of events instead its much about telling the life story of Miss Grierson in a
camera record way; that means it only shows what the narrator sees and hears, but nothing about what Miss Emily feels or thoughts. The story begins
with Emily's funeral,

Edward T. Hall: A Cultural Analysis
It was about 1:55 PM and I was a bit nervous to go to Fatimah's place for lunch. I was standing around the area where she lives, which consisted of
townhouse grouped together. Finally around 2:00, I knocked on her door. A couple of seconds later, the door opened, but no one had greeted me
immediately. I peeked inside and saw a very cozy living room with a wide–screen TV playing Chicka–Chicka Boom Boom short clips and toys stacked
in the corner. Fatimah immediately came around and welcomed me inside. I asked her where I should take off my shoes and she told me to put
them off to the side inside the house. I looked over to my right and her two children were sitting next to each other on the right side of the couch
and were staring at me with big, round eyes. Fatimah had told me to sit down on the couch and told me the food was almost ready. I took off my

Edward T. Hall has described two separate cultures involving time: monochronic and polychronic culture. People living in a monochronic culture
view time as limited and very valuable. The term "time is money" is often used to express a monochronic culture where people are more bound to
the clock. Often, monochronic cultures are embraced in urban environments, such as New York City or Chicago. On the other hand, people in a
polychronic culture view time as an unlimited resource so they are more focused on working on tasks "at your own pace". The primary concern
would be the relationship because time is not a scarce resource but it is a source that is always there. Usually, rural environments adapt to polychronic
cultures but popular places such as Hawaii or Sao Paulo also are expressed as a polychronic

What Are The Theme Of The Poem I Too
Poetry plays an important role of changing helpless people's situation. Poets are required figures in the modern and contemporary poetries because
they explore, express and discuss almost everything about the lives of almost all people who are under threat in America including African Americans
and other nationalities and religions like Indians and Muslims . Although each poet has his or her own voice, style, poetic form, life perspective and

Themes that are related to African Americans such as American's identity, dream and equality. This poem not only shows Langston's dream, but also
shows the dream of all African American's dream for a better life. A life that is empty of discrimination and segregation. Hughes and other African
American poets seek for a new America that all Americans, Blacks, Whites and others can sit together in one table. Also, they are looking for having
the same chance of achieving the American dream. This poem consists of five connected stanzas that are spoken by a black American who could be a
servant for a White American. The speaker speaks with calm and quiet tone to show that he is sure of his words. Obviously, he is speaking to all
people, and especially to Americans. In the beginning of the poem, "I, too, sing America" is just one line that forms a stanza. The speaker from the
beginning stats that also African Americans have the right of celebrating and singing their belonging to America and being American. Moreover, the
poem offers more information about the speaker. The speaker introduces himself as "the darker brother" to indicate that although he is black, he still
a brother. Obviously, the speaker here is using the image of two brothers, one is black and the other is white. However, the darker brother here is not
treated as a brother. He is hidden from other White people, sent to sit aside, separated from his White brother when others visit them. The speaker
shows how White Americans discriminate against Black Americans. In general, the speaker is calling for brotherhood and equality. Moreover, being
sent to places that are supposed to be places of working hard shows the intended meaning of not giving the African Americans the chance of achieving
their dreams and goals. Hughes shows that African Americans are victims of White Americans just because they are born with

The reason for this was because of the clothes she wore, and the way she ate. She wore "a veil, long skirt, [she was] totally covered" (Kosof 20)
and Fatimah mentioned that she would eat with her hands. Fatimah soon realized that just by her following her beliefs she would be picked on
because it was something different than what the Americans did. A main reason that the immigrants did not want to continue to be in America
was because of the teasing that took placed. Many of the Immigrants stated that they were grateful however it was nothing like home in America.
They received this feeling, because many Americans were stuck up and have the belief that they are superior to other. Not only was not fitting in

Essay about Land Without Bread
Land Without Bread by Luis Bunuel There are numerous ethnographic surrealist films that have an intriguing relationship to aesthetics and politics. A
film that exemplifies this relationship is "Las Hurdes: Tierra Sin Pan" (Land Without Bread). This film is only 27–minutes and is directed by the
infamous Luis Bunuel in 1933. Bunuel was a Spanish filmmaker of the 1920's to the 1970's. He is often attributed to being one of the major
contributors to the surrealist movement of the 1920's. "Ethnographic surrealism is a utopian construct, a statement at once about past and future

numerous young girls eat bread dipped in the water of a small stream. At the local school, "starving" children study geometry and educational moral
lessons. Arriving in another village, the expedition meets a "choir of idiots" and then finds a young girl ill in the street. Land Without Bread then
surveys the Hurdanos' diet of potatoes, beans, pork, and honey. The scene where a goat falls off a mountain and a donkey is covered and killed by
bees is staged unbeknownst to the viewer. A short–lived essay on mosquitoes and malaria leads into a portion on illness and dwarfism, caused "by
hunger, by lack of hygiene, and by incest.". As the camera pans across some graves marked with crosses, we hear that, "despite the great misery of
the Hurdanos, their moral and religious ideas are the same as in other parts of the world." We tour a "luxurious" church before visiting the inside of a
Hurdano home. As the family prepares for bed, an elderly woman walks the darkened streets, chanting of death. The expedition abruptly ends. It is

Michael's Story: "I get into so much trouble just by walking": Narrative Knowing and Life at the Intersections of Learning Disability, Race, and Class
Introduction
The purpose of the article's introduction is to highlight the challenges that students from minority go through in special education schools. Linking his
personal experiences as a former special educator, Connor strives to explore the intersection of learning disability, race, and class. The author collected
data by conducting interviews with a participant researcher to get his side of the story. Connor planned to compare his LDs experiences with his own.
Valuing Narrative
Connor opted to use a narrative as a means of expression since most people understand issues better when they are conveyed as a narrated story.
Michael, the participant researcher, narrates the discrimination he went through during his time in school. Being a student with a learning disability, he
was segregated from the other "normal" students, and they always taunted him because of his condition. The fact that he is black, physically
challenged and comes from a working class background makes him feel less entitled to receiving a decent college education (Connor, 2006). His
situation that even in the education sector, the playing field is not fair as far as minority groups are concerned.
Choosing poetry
Connor elects to present his findings in the form

Critical Analysis Of The Clash Of Civilization

  • 1. Critical Analysis Of The Clash Of Civilization In The Clash of Civilization, Samuel P. Huntington argues that globalization has united cultures that were normally very withdrawn. It has increased contact between these cultures, which then led to an increase in misunderstanding, resentment, and eventually conflict. Huntington also hypothesizes that the leading factor of conflict in the 21st century will be the differences between cultures. This will eventually result in the change of dominance within civilizations to different civilizations. Lastly, he also predicts that the West, Arab nations, such as Saudi Arabia, and China will also have and an increase in cultural conflict with one another. Huntington then goes on to hypothesize that the ultimate source of conflict in this world will not only be ideological or economical but the division between human kind will mostly take place because of the cultural conflict. He says that "The clash of civilizations will dominate global politics. The fault lines between civilizations will be the battle lines of the future."(82). In order to have a better and concise understanding of Huntington's "Clash of Civilizations?" it is necessary to understand the strengths of his argument. The strengths in his argument are well portrayed through his division of the world in eight different civilizations and also through his explanation of why there is conflict between cultures. Also, he portrays that cultural issues tend to be more complicated to resolve than political dilemmas. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Comparison Of Mythical Creatures In Arabian Nights And... Culture differences in the world are reflected in the novels from different regions of the world. Arabian Nights is a novel full of Arabian stories and folktales gathered from the Islamic Golden Age, while The Journey to the West, also known as "XiYouJi" is a Chinese novel full of folk tales from the Ming Dynasty. The Journey to the West is now a popular cartoon and storybook for children in China. These two novels differ slightly in characters, and religion, and the historical context, but they both have the same underlying principles. Mythical creatures are almost always literary creatures that generated popularity out of literary circulation and storytelling. They are legendary creatures that at one point were believed to be real beings, while some have their origin traced from literary myths. The mythical creatures used in Arabian Nights consists of Jinni, while The Journey to the West consists of mythical creatures such as the Scorpion Demon. When comparing these creatures, a question begins to arise. Why are mythical creatures part of literature? Mythical creatures are archetypes that form from the collective unconscious of people. These creatures can be found in any culture at any time. They may take a multitude of forms in both Arabian Nights and Journey to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. The Characters Of Aisha And Khadija The Prophet's pietistic norms are archetypes in which Muslims, as a piety of knowledge, are intrigued to comprehend more about the messenger's social gestures. There have been various inquiries concerning the prophet's marriage, the traits of Muhammad as a husband and the normative of his sexual life. Although the prophet had consummated his marriage with eleven of his thirteen wives, Khadija and Aisha were the Prophet's most preference and beloved ones. No doubts, both Aisha and Khadija manifested the entitlement " The Mother of the Muslim Believers;"though, they both embedded different characters and witnessed the Prophet sexually in varying views. Therefore, the community had portrait Aisha and Khadija's embodiments relatively to their suppositions of gender and sexuality, since that Muhammad married both of his wives during discrete periods. In this Essay, I intend to answer the exam's inquiry, thoroughly, through three factions: At first, providing both characters of Aisha and Khadija. Secondly, representing clear differences in the way, they were told and the views they described gender and sexuality. Finally, Juxtaposing the discrepancies between the two stories and what they present. Both Characters of Aisha and Khadija According to Ibn Ishaq chronicle of Khadija's social status prior to her marriage to Muhammad, she was a wealthy– respected women merchant in which many tribal elites were burgeoned to propose marriage to her, though. • 4. Australia The Land Of Opportunity Essay Before the 11th of September, 2001, Australia had been a home to the Al–Jamil family. Granted, it was never the same as their home country of Iraq, but it was a place to live and they were content. Australia, the Land of Opportunity, would bring her family success and happiness. The day that news services across the globe began to broadcast the events of 9/11 was the day that this began to change. *** It happened slowly at first, with strange looks in the street and the word "terrorist" constantly on the lips of strangers. But soon it became obvious to the Fatimah, as whispers turned into harsh words, and harsh words became fists. The day that her younger brother, Farhad, came home from school with a black eye, and tears rolling down his face, was the day that the change became physical. Fatimah sat down, to shocked stares and disagreeing words. Satisfied that she had gotten her point across, she took in a deep breath. • 5. Martin Beam's Homeless Prevention Program As I read through the final chapters of Beam's book, I felt both hopeful and disheartened. I feel that the original premise or goal of the child welfare system is to ensure that children have a family. A family that is capable of appropriately caring for a child and providing them with unconditional love. Pat O' Brien and Chester Jackson's program, You Gotta Believe! resonates with this goal. There homeless prevention program addresses a principle issue of foster care that the system has not properly addressed, so it seems. According to Pat, an estimated 50 percent of the current homeless population consists of individuals that were once in care. Once the honeymoon period of the promise of new beginnings ended, the spell of being a foster parent quickly died due to the frustration that stemmed from a lack of support from the system. Another concern, were the weekly advertisements in which the teens had to sell themselves to prospective families. Although, the intentions behind it are noble, I feel that the youth are again being likened to merchandise for sale, only this time they're on display which is unsettling. • 9. Alienation In The Tiger S.Rajaratnam's Tiger is an anti–colonial narrative that advocates Malayan nationalistic messages for peaceful co–existence in a plural society that faces further complexities from political spheres. The Tiger undeniably continues to serve as a national narrative crucial for contemporary Singapore society because of its present complex multiracial composition and the faithful upholding of colonial power structure which are similar to societal features of the colonial period. Through such anti–colonial narrative, Rajaratnam advocates a decolonisation process that is based on compassion and humanity, as resonated in Jameson Bretch's thought provoking idea of alienation. Although it is ironic to use Bretch's idea of alienation derived from dialectic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Considering Bretch's idea of defamiliarisation, the tiger creates a distance through its foreign nature and ambiguity. Thus, the ordinary relationship between the tiger and Fatimah is rendered strange and unexpected due to the dehumanising and oppressive impressions created in the text through their relationship. To view the tiger as majestic, yet an animal, it resonates the dehumanisation of Malaya. Also, from dehumanising description of Fatimah as one of "plump, brown figure, and accentuated the full breasts and womb of a pregnant woman [with] the round, high–cheekboned face, so typical of the Malays" (99), highlights the colonial male gaze in objectifying the Malay woman, where the nuances within racial and gendered oppression is subtly yet strongly emphasised. This calls for the anti–colonial story by Rajaratnam, as the idea of "othering" practiced during the colonial period serves as an acute hindrance for humanity, co–existence and creation of independent Malayan identity. Additionally, the strong parallel between the tiger and Fatimah in their immersion in the natural world is significant in highlighting the value of compassion and humanity for peaceful co–existence. Their motherhood, along with the motif of pregnancy, portrays the fierce instincts for survival and protection, like how the nation is driven to protect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Abu Bakr Masjid : The Islamic Center Of San Diego I had the privilege to conduct field research at the Abu Bakr Masjid, also known as the Islamic Center of San Diego on Friday, October 9, 2015. I attended both salat al–Maghrib and a lecture given by Imam Sh. Taha Hassane. Salat al–Maghrib is the "West sun" prayer which takes place five minutes after sunset. Salat al–Maghrib started around 6:37 p.m. Imam Taha Hassane's lecture started at 7:00 p.m. and ended at 8:01 p.m. before the last prayer of the day: salat al–'Isha'a. Imam Taha Hassane was already waiting for me outside of the mosque. The first matter he explained was that it was considered proper to enter the masjid (mosque) with my right foot first and exit with my left foot first. Furthermore, I was also explained that in order to enter the prayer hall, I needed to be in a state of ritual purity. This purification consists of ablutions, called wudu', which involve the washing of the feet, hands, head and face. Once I completed the ablutions, Imam Taha Hassane instructed me to take off my shoes in the designated cabinets in the hallway. This is primarily done to ensure that no outside dirt would violate the sacred space. At Abu Bakr Masjid, like in many other mosques around the Muslim world, genders are separated–men pray in the main prayer hall while women pray upstairs in a separate prayer room. When I asked why, Imam Taha simply explained that it was a matter of modesty and concentration. Once inside the prayer hall, the imam explained to me that in a mosque there ... For Muslims, the issue of conversion out of Islam or apostasy raises significant religious and political considerations. The adoption of Islam as the religion of the Federation under Article 3 and the compulsory subjection of Muslims to the Syariah in a number of matters are reasons why the conversion of a Muslim out of Islam arouses revulsion and anger among the Malays or Muslim citizens. The controversy regarding the issue of apostasy, specifically in relation to the application the constitutional provisions for the freedom of religion to Muslims, remains unresolved. However, recently, there were some interesting decisions in both civil and Syariah courts regarding the issue of apostasy. Whether or not they want to, many of their repressed memories always seem to influence their future decisions. Morrison focuses the most brutal on rape as one of the worst forms of abuse but presents it in fragments to focus on the psychological effects. One of Sethe's most mortifying memories was having her breast milk stolen from her. Something she herself produced wasn't able to keep essentially broke her. "After I left you, those boys came in there and took my milk. That's what they came in there for. Hold me down and took it" (Morrison 19) Plundering her most prized possession for her child caused her to lose part of herself in the process. To Sethe, the actual stealing of the milk is much more traumatic to her than the rape itself brings out the real consequence of her rape. For the rest of Sethe's life, she could never forget the assault and makes it her goal to never let anyone she loves, especially her children, experience the same thing. Morrison portrays that much of her rage originates from the stolen milk, when her true ire stems from the rape. • 13. Problem Areas Nonnative Speakers of English Often Have... INTRODUCTION Pronunciation is an essential part of language. According to Fries (1945), the main problem in learning a new language is not the vocabulary but it is instead the mastery of the sound system, which is to understand the stream of speech and to hear distinctive sound features. Pronunciation is important to avoid misunderstandings when communicating. It is seen as a prerequisite for the development of speaking skill (Celce–Murcia & Goodwin, 1991). Pronunciation, according to Microsoft Encarta 2007, means "the way in which a sound, word, or language is articulated, especially in conforming to an accepted standard". According to Hinofotis and Bailey (1981, as cited by Celce–Murcia and Goodwin, 1991), one will not be able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Word stress is important in English since misunderstandings can occur because of mistakes in word stress. Stressing on wrong points in English sometimes makes words in English meaningless. For example, if one is given two words "metal" and "motel" with stress on the second syllable, it will be pronounced /mУ™'tГ¦l/ and /ma:tУ™l/. When this pronunciation is applied in a sentence like, "I carried the metal to the motel", then the sentence becomes confusing and meaningless. Another feature of the English language that should be noted by nonnative speakers is that pronouncing the same word with stresses on different syllables can alter the meaning of the word. For example, if the word "permit' is stressed on the first syllable, it will become noun, and if on the second syllable, the word becomes a verb. According to Mennen (2006), second language learners often have problems placing stresses at the correct syllable, especially in the beginning of the learning process. This is because some languages do not use stress much and some, like Japanese and French, none at all (EnglishClub.com, 2007). This means that each syllable of words is pronounced with equal emphasis. It would be difficult for the nonnative speakers to identify which syllable should be stressed or not. This will lead to misunderstandings when speaking to native speakers as they usually listen to the stresses to understand the real message conveyed. INTONATION The final problem that has been ... • 14. Wwe By Fatimah Asghar, A Light Is Shone On The Tendencies... In the poem WWE by Fatimah Asghar, a light is shone on the tendencies of Americans to praise men and masculinity. More than that, Asghar provides insight to her own experiences with American culture as a Pakistani woman trying to find her way in this country. In the poem, Asghar expresses her pride for her country, while simultaneously discussing the assimilation of her aunt to American culture. In this way, she uses this poem as an outlet to express her experience of becoming American. Through the use of passionate diction, realistic imagery, couplet form, Asghar is able to paint a clear picture of the struggles of immigrants trying to assimilate to American culture, and the relationships between man and woman. Asghar starts the poem off by describing her aunt's actions as she prepares what is most likely dinner for husband. She describes her actions using "rolls" and "pounds". These specific words can be seen as a parallel to how one would describe the men in WWE. However, by using these specific masculine descriptors combined with the action of making her traditional native food, Asghar is able to create a parallel to her native culture and American culture. She is also able to show the reader that embracing a new culture does not mean you have to leave all semblances of your previous culture behind. She does this again when she discusses her aunt watching these men on TV with "kajaled" eyes. Kajal is the application of kohl, or eyeliner. This is customary in many ... The Kite Runner is a novel about two friends, inseparable by friendship and blood but divided by religion class. In the novel, "The Kite Runner" there is a young man named Amir, a Sunni Muslim, and Hassan, his servant and friend, a Shi'a Muslim. The two shouldn't be friends by the standards, but all they know is friendship. Everything says that Shiite's and Sunnis shouldn't be friends. But the two boys find happiness in their relationship. Shahrazad tells this story so that King Shahriyar does not act rashly and kill the one who is to save his royal bloodline. He withdrew from political affairs, especially after the death of his wife, Fatima Zahra. He used his time to serve his family and worked as a farmer. Ali dug a lot of wells and gardens near Medina and endowed them for public use. These wells are known today as Abar Ali ("Ali's wells").[60] He also made gardens for his family and descendants Ali did not give his oath of allegiance to Abu Bakr until some time after the death of his wife, Fatimah.[4] Ali participated in the funeral of Abu Bakr but did not participate in the Ridda Wars.[63] He pledged allegiance to the second caliph Umar ibn Khattab and helped him as ... The Roles Of Women Of Andalusia The Roles of Extraordinary Women of Andalusia Muslim women have the same rights as men and they have to fulfill and attain the same duties of worship such as prayer, zikr, give money to the poor, fasting, and make pilgrimage to Mecca the holy place. In the pre–Islamic era, the Jahiliya era, women were not allowed to do anything, they had no rights. Women from the Bedioun tribes had no legal status whatsoever. The fathers forced their daughters to get married for money and also, many fathers infanticide their daughters because they were seeing as nothing important in the society. The tribes were all male–controlled. The heritage was passed on to the following generations through male lines. Women had no legal right in inheriting property. The head of the tribes limited the rights of women and took away their freedom. Prior toIslam, women were seen as property to be seized in tribal or ethnic battles and conflicts. Women had no possessions or succession rights. Their very essential role was to produce children, especially male offspring. Women had to cook, milk animals, and wash clothes; they also had to spun wool and wave fabric for the tribal tens. However, when Islam was found, it gave full rights and freedom to women. Islam developed the position of women from the Arab cultures. The Sharia Law drew attention to the proper way of marriage for women. • 40. Summary Of ' A Rose For Emily ' Fatimah Alzauri ENGL 1010 Re 15 November 2015 Brief Analyzing for "A Rose for Emily" "A Rose for Emily" is a short horror, tragedy story which contains an interesting connection between its point of view and its plot, moreover, characters, and setting where the story takes a place, have a portion of making it a noteworthy story. William Faulkner, who wrote "A Rose for Emily" set it to present a picture of a lonely woman from Mississippi who expires to mental illness. The tragedy in this story is how the main character is manipulated by her father; this leaves her incapable of having a role in the modern world. After she went insane from living as a recluse, she kept the corpse of a man that she murdered in an upper room of her house. The horror part of it symbolizes that she was not ready to lose him and cannot accept the fact that everything does change. There is not much to say about plot in "A Rose for Emily" . Usually, plot in a story starts with the initial situation, conflict, complication, climax, suspense, denouement, and conclusion. However, it is not the case here. A great writer such as Faulkner could easily play with the events arrangement to add some excitement to the story. The plot in the story is not a sequence of events instead its much about telling the life story of Miss Grierson in a camera record way; that means it only shows what the narrator sees and hears, but nothing about what Miss Emily feels or thoughts. The story begins with Emily's funeral, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I was standing around the area where she lives, which consisted of townhouse grouped together. Finally around 2:00, I knocked on her door. A couple of seconds later, the door opened, but no one had greeted me immediately. I peeked inside and saw a very cozy living room with a wide–screen TV playing Chicka–Chicka Boom Boom short clips and toys stacked in the corner. Fatimah immediately came around and welcomed me inside. I asked her where I should take off my shoes and she told me to put them off to the side inside the house. I looked over to my right and her two children were sitting next to each other on the right side of the couch and were staring at me with big, round eyes. Fatimah had told me to sit down on the couch and told me the food was almost ready. I took off my jacket and I offered to help, but she said her husband was almost done cooking. Edward T. Hall has described two separate cultures involving time: monochronic and polychronic culture. People living in a monochronic culture view time as limited and very valuable. The term "time is money" is often used to express a monochronic culture where people are more bound to the clock. Often, monochronic cultures are embraced in urban environments, such as New York City or Chicago. On the other hand, people in a polychronic culture view time as an unlimited resource so they are more focused on working on tasks "at your own pace". The primary concern would be the relationship because time is not a scarce resource but it is a source that is always there. Hughes and other African American poets seek for a new America that all Americans, Blacks, Whites and others can sit together in one table. Also, they are looking for having the same chance of achieving the American dream. This poem consists of five connected stanzas that are spoken by a black American who could be a servant for a White American. The speaker speaks with calm and quiet tone to show that he is sure of his words. Obviously, he is speaking to all people, and especially to Americans. In the beginning of the poem, "I, too, sing America" is just one line that forms a stanza. The speaker from the beginning stats that also African Americans have the right of celebrating and singing their belonging to America and being American. Moreover, the poem offers more information about the speaker. The speaker introduces himself as "the darker brother" to indicate that although he is black, he still a brother. Obviously, the speaker here is using the image of two brothers, one is black and the other is white. However, the darker brother here is not treated as a brother. He is hidden from other White people, sent to sit aside, separated from his White brother when others visit them. The speaker shows how White Americans discriminate against Black Americans. In general, the speaker is calling for brotherhood and equality. Moreover, being sent to places that are supposed to be places of working hard shows the intended meaning of not giving the African Americans the chance of achieving their dreams and goals. Fatimah soon realized that just by her following her beliefs she would be picked on because it was something different than what the Americans did. A main reason that the immigrants did not want to continue to be in America was because of the teasing that took placed. Many of the Immigrants stated that they were grateful however it was nothing like home in America. They received this feeling, because many Americans were stuck up and have the belief that they are superior to other. I Get Into So Much Trouble Just By Walking Qualitative Researchers In Introduction Fatimah Almahdi Amy Petersen Michael's Story: "I get into so much trouble just by walking": Narrative Knowing and Life at the Intersections of Learning Disability, Race, and Class Introduction The purpose of the article's introduction is to highlight the challenges that students from minority go through in special education schools. Linking his personal experiences as a former special educator, Connor strives to explore the intersection of learning disability, race, and class. The author collected data by conducting interviews with a participant researcher to get his side of the story. Connor planned to compare his LDs experiences with his own. Valuing Narrative Connor opted to use a narrative as a means of expression since most people understand issues better when they are conveyed as a narrated story. Michael, the participant researcher, narrates the discrimination he went through during his time in school. Being a student with a learning disability, he was segregated from the other "normal" students, and they always taunted him because of his condition. The fact that he is black, physically challenged and comes from a working class background makes him feel less entitled to receiving a decent college education (Connor, 2006).
