Why Liberals Are Losing The National Debt Argument
Getting to the source of reliable sources:
In today's world, with all the technology that is readily available, finding information that is credible
can pose a challenge. With social media and everything being online, it seems as if anyone from
everywhere can post whatever they want, whether it is deemed to be accurate or not. In using the
topic of national debt in the United States as a guide, I was able to analyze plausible sources and
compare them to inaccurate sources. Journalist, Brandon Greife, in his article, "Liberals are Losing
the National Debt Argument," elaborates on the topic of what liberals are accomplishing when it
comes to national debt but his purpose is to tell readers about how liberals are going about doing
that and voice his opinions on why he thinks it is the wrong way. Throughout his article, he
expresses a biased tone to convey his feelings on the topic. On the other hand, businessman, Tony
Robbins, in his video, "The National Debt Decoded," discusses the national debt of the United
States. Robbins' purpose is to inform listeners on the topic of national debt and challenge them on
what some of the solutions should be. He adopts a matter–of–fact tone in order to display the
problems that the United States is facing in his fellow American citizens. Of the sources that I
reviewed, the video by Robbins is the most reliable source because viewers are able to understand
what he is saying throughout his presentation and his diction.

Comparing Two Magazines Essay
Comparing Two Magazines
For my compare and contrast essay, I have decided to compare two magazines in the financial and
business world of entrepreneurs. The name of the first magazine is " Small business opportunities"
and the second magazine is "Entrepreneurs – Be your own boss"
The theme of the first magazine is to highlight, how and what type of businesses to start and make
money without putting in much of the hard work. The very first page of the magazine shows an
absolute image of the man and women dressed up with lots of money and a road of success. The
magazine rapidity claims" Sure ways to make money". It seems like editor is personally involved in
guaranteeing the success of the business with highlighting text displaying ... Show more content on

The cover page is much simpler yet attractive without any graphics simply saying "Low cost
businesses you can start today".
The very first page is well displayed; it contains popular franchise information. The magazine takes
a step by step approach to guide an individual with general topics like "How to start up and build a
business". It seems like editor has no bias towards the information presented. The emphasis of this
magazine is on the presenting more information about a product rather then just giving the monitory
figures.
The color and layout of the magazine is very simple and professional. Editor shows concern of
misleading ads and puts emphasis on starting small. Towards the middle of the magazine in which
he presents a simple but very well laid out table of the popular franchises, with topics like
demographics, startup cost and brief introduction of the provider. In the last part of the magazine
editor has put together a list of other sources and publication to inform and pursue readers to
research more rather have them jump to conclusion by just looking at inflated figures.
In conclusion, I have found that both of these magazines are very different and appeals to different
class of people. The first magazine is not for the startup businessman but for somebody who can
sense a foe or real business offer. The second magazine is a starting point for new entrepreneurs who
want to start small but need a peek into

Reflection Paper
There will be times in life that knocks you down so hard that you feel as if you don't have the
strength to get back up. It is all about how you handle the situations that show just how strong you
truly are. All my life I have been a victim of bullying. Every time the bullies came to me I acted
strong but once I got home I would lock myself in my bedroom for hours crying asking God what
have I done wrong, and why me. The bullying had gotten so bad that it had led up to depression. I
have tried cutting and overdosing more than once. But nothing was there to ease the pain that I had
felt. One day I didn't eat. That one day lead to a week, which leads to a month, which led to 3
months. I lived off half a baby plate of food for dinner a day because my mindset was saying to me
that I needed to be skinny for people to like me. So, yes I was physically starving myself at the age
of 14. Once it was time for Freshman year to start I finally felt beautiful, at least that is what I had
thought. Shortly within the school year, the bullying came back and the depression hit me in the face
once again. This time I wasn't trying to starve, I was eating excessively and I wasn't cutting. I wasn't
doing anything but lying down in my bed with earbuds in trying to isolate myself. People think that
depression is just sadness. It isn't. Depression is when you feel completely empty. You start to think
and wonder what the future hold for you but yet all you see is black because you start to see a

Informative Speech
My first informative speech was successful I would say. The topic I chose was Sephora and it was
easy to do because I am interested in it. I did not have many problems looking up information or
struggle to stay interested because Sephora is a very unique store/brand. It always makes doing
research easier when you get to choose and are interested in your topic! One thing that I think i did
very well was that I put a lot of time into my speech I spent hours looking up information that I
wanted to talk about. I even wrote down things and decided not to talk about them because that
information was not as relevant as some of the other things I wanted to talk about. I put a lot of time
and effort into the preparation of my speech that I feel like it better prepared me for what I was
going to talk about. By looking up all the information I was better educated on my topic. Being
better educated I your topic can intrigue the audience because they trust you and know what you are
saying so they will listen. The goal of the speech was to inform the audience on something new or to
update them on things they may already know so you want to find information about the topic that
maybe everybody does not already know. Finding a good opening sentence to get the audience
involved or immediately interested in your topic can be hard, but by researching and knowing your
audience it will help you in the start of your speech. Another thing that I think I executed well was
that I did find information and by credible sources. I felt as if I sounded credible by finding reliable
sources. I was able to find information that was new and credible by just searching for the right
sources. I tried my best to avoid google and I tried to find information from a newspaper article or
something that could be trusted. By having credible sources your speech is more likely to intrigues
the audience and cause them to possibly go home and look up more information from those sources.
Using sources helps your audience become better educated in the subject by what you say and even
on their own. I also believe that I was well prepared with my speech. I would go over my speech
numerous times a day so that I knew what I was going to say. I practiced

The Sapphires Essay
The film "The Sapphires" directed by Wayne Blair, is based around and set in the era of the Vietnam
war. Belonging whether it's race or love is a big part of this film and constantly appears in different
ways. One of the main characters, Dave Lovelace throughout the film is constantly rejected as he
tries to belong and be a part of the group.
The first scene that introduces Dave was him sleeping in his car with a huge mess and he gets
woken up by a bunch of kids hitting his car, he got up and the first thing that you hear is bear bottles
clanging around at his feet. This first scene of Dave just shows that his life is not going very well
and that he is most likely an alcoholic. Dave then got out of his car with no pants on and walked into

furthermore, during the girls show Dave and Gail make eye contact and they both smile at each
other for a while, which further shows that Dave is starting to belong with them. Dave really shows
that he cares for the girls in one particular scene, when they are attacked just before going back on
stage and Dave gets shot looking for Kay and Julie in the middle of an attack, then once Gail got
back she read the letter that Dave gave her and he asked to marry her and he says "It would be a

1. INTRODUCTION
[[Wikidata, and the problem]]
Wikidata is a central repository collecting structured data via collaborative online communities. It
has provided sup– port for the content of Wikipedia and as well as other sites1. Like many other
projects that rely on contributions from volunteer users, Wikidata content are largely edited by vol–
unteers (more than fifteen thousand active users2) from di– verse locations, backgrounds and skill
levels. It is inevitable there is demand in understanding the quality and trustwor– thiness of
Wikidata. One thing sets Wikidata apart from other linked open data repository is its focus on
curating sourced data which makes each statement verifiable. How– ever, the reality is not only
there are a large number of statements without any references, but also there is no over– all view of
how good the sources are for the statements with references.
[[Our focus]]
Our focus in this paper is to investigate the trustworthi– ness of the statements by looking at how
good the exist– ing sources are and explore using crowdsourcing paid mi– cro tasks to curate source

What It Take to Be a Scholarly Writier Essay examples
Scholarly writing is no different from all other writing, except, beside it having a purpose and
having an audience like any other writings, scholarly writing is evidence–based (Laureate
Education, 2012). It is important, since the scholar–practitioner write for a specific audience, that his
or her material be free of personal opinion, assumption, and bias. When writing a scholarly material,
a scholar–practitioner has to be objective in tone, write clearly, concise, produce a mechanically
correct writing that contains evidence–based material. Before starting writing, a scholar–
practitioner, first would consider the purpose of the writing, then the audience being addressed in the
writing. As a Walden student and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because once the scholar–practitioner found material, it is up to that individual to establish the
validity and usefulness of the source (Laureate Education, 2013). The Essential Guide to Online
Learning states that "scholarly writing is material written for a specific purpose to a specific
audience. It's based on evidence, not assumptions or opinions. It's objective in tone, and the writing
is clear, concise, and mechanically correct" (Laureate Education, 2013). For an effective writing, it
is necessary that scholar–practitioner write clearly, be concise, and use of precise and appropriate
terms to ensure that the writing is mechanically correct as Professor Lilburn Hoehn said, "Figure out
what you want to say and just say it" (Laureate Education, 2007). When looking at clarity and
concision of writing, I read a post on the difference between Piaget and Erickson developmental
theory. After a discussion on points, which set these two theories apart, the writer finally concluded
with these statements: "Erikson believed development went beyond the years of development that
Piaget focused on. Both theorists' believed in the importance of developmental stages of younger
years of life. Piaget believed development went beyond the younger years of life and went past even
into the years of

Evaluating Credibility And Its Impact On The Society Of...
Introduction
When a person reads a source for information the reader wants that information to be reliable so
they could trust the source meaning the reader needs their information source to be credible.
Credibility is important because everyone on the planet could write on a topic, but that does not
mean that what they wrote is true and should be believed in. People who write more often than not
have an agenda. To make the reader feel a certain way or to make them believe in what the author
told them too. Evaluating credibility means looking into the author and their agenda, the publisher to
see where the information comes from, evidence of bias, uses of sources to support their
information, verifiability to see if it still holds context, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Objective Summaries & Source Credibility Analysis
The article "Rehabilitate or punish?" written by Etienne Benson on apa.org–the website of the
American Psychological Association–provides insight on the topic of the concept of rehabilitating
prisoners especially the mentally ill or to continue following the "get tough on crime" method. The
article also factors in how psychology can better help even non–mentally ill prisoners to better be
able to transition into citizen life without re–imprisonment than go hard core on the prisoners to
prove a point. Rating the article while evaluating on a six–point scale. I gave the article a score of ().
In the category of author, I give the article a five since he has a proficient writing experience, but not
particularly in the field of psychology. He is a historian in the field of science, technology, and the
environment (). For the publisher, I give the score of six because the source is an educational
professional site in the field of psychology which is what the article is about. In the evidence of bias
category, I give the article a three. The author has a strong preference to giving the prisoners the
mental help they need instead of just punishing them. Going on to explain why he believes that
people should help them, but not really going into the other side of the argument. For the use of
sources, I give

The Day I Will Start The Dream
I stumbled through the house, trying to get away, my red hair replaced with fire, but not
burning me, igniting the house around me. I woke up gasping for air, wondering why I've been
having the same recurring nightmare ever since my parents died in a fire when I was six. It's
been haunting me for eight years. I pushed the dream aside trying to be optimistic; because today
was the day I could leave this house. Don't get me wrong, living in a huge mansion with a pool
and a chef is a dream, but I just want to be free to leave. After my parents died, my cousins took
me to live here and I've been training for this day ever since. Today is the day I will start the
hunt to kill the men who killed my parents. I could remember the day ... Show more content on

A fireman had to haul me off the roof and I blacked out as soon as I was
laid in the hospital bed, and that exact moment was when the nightmares started.
I blinked away my dizziness and slowly sat up, realizing I was sprawled across
the floor, a normal result of my flashbacks. I hauled myself up and went downstairs to get some
breakfast before my cousins, Scarlett, Alex, and Gemma realized I had another flashback. They
definitely wouldn't let me go to find the killers if they knew I kept having flashbacks. Once I got
to the kitchen, I realized our chef wasn't awake to make breakfast because it was 4 o'clock in the
morning. I decided to waste a few hours training, so I would be hungry for breakfast. I started
with a few laps in the pool, and then climbed onto the rafters and jumped into the pool, just in
case, because you never know if you're going to fall from the sky into water; better to be
prepared than dead. I think I woke up Scarlett because when I swam up, I saw her standing in the
doorway. She executed a perfect dive into the water and we swam laps together. She would be
coming with me on the hunt for the killers. Her mom died of cancer and her dad died of
pneumonia when she was an infant, so she lived with my parents and me for most of her life.

Informative Speech
Informative Speech Self Reflection In my informative speech, the topic of the speech was how
shoes can affect your health. As my attention getter, I used a narrative about an elderly woman who
went through extreme pain from the style of feet at the time. I believe it was effective because it was
interesting and the aspect of pain is something many people will listen to. I stated that I was going to
be talking about what most people are doing wrong with wearing shoes, what specific shoes can do
to one's health, and ways to prevent shoes from hurting people. The was an implied relationship with
the topic to the audience because I believe that everyone in the class wears shoes so they should care
what the effects could possibly be. My speech was well organized in the way that we know what
people are doing wrong to cause bad effects on your health by shoes to learning the effects specific
shoes can do to your health to learning ways to prevent any effects from occurring. The pattern of
organization I used was one of what you are doing to consequences to prevention. I believe that my
main points were pretty easy to follow because each main point follows another. I successfully used
transitions/connectives in this speech compared to last speech. Throughout my speech, I would list
off a couple of sources depending on each topic because I got different sources for each topic. In
each portion of my speech, I stated the author and publisher that I used the information from. My

Maple Street Fear Essay
"Fear is the main source of superstition, and one of the main sources of cruelty."–Ralph Waldo
Emerson. As a wise man once stated, fear leads to superstition and that is clearly shown in the
monsters on maple street by Rod Serling. In the book it's a average day on Maple Street, USA until
an unknown object flies overhead. Shortly after, the power goes out, along with, everything else!
Lawn mowers, portable radios, even there are cars aren't working! Afraid of what's happening and

all this power failure and the rest of it. Meteors can do some crazy things. Like sunspots.'" Steve is
trying to get the group to lighten the group up but fails. The word obvious shows that the crowd

Family Is A Powerful And Meaningful Word Family
What is Family? According to the online dictionary family is all those persons considered as
descendants of a common progenitor. I view family in a whole different perspective. The word
family is a powerful and meaningful word. To me, it means people who accept you for who you are
where there 's no hatred or judgement and love you unconditionally. A dog or pet can simply become
family. A person who you can count on through your emotional or financial distress can also be
family. Growing up my parents and siblings weren 't always supportive or loving. I'm the youngest
and pretty much seeked love and attention elsewhere which made me view my friends, colleagues,
pets, and counselors as family. I didn't have much of a childhood my parents had a lot of personal

Technology and social media are used every day by hundreds of millions of people.
The use of these applications provides a more effective outcome of everyday lives. However, the
overuse of the technology and social media has negatively impacted those who abuse their time on
technology and the use of social media platforms. The first source explains why the overuse of
technology negatively effects adolescents and gives data to support their idea. The point of this
article is to promote awareness for the younger generation and their abuse of technology. The author
gives statistics and multiple studies to back up their argument. The article explains that the overuse
of technology can eventually lead to mental health issues and irregular behavior and can lead to
depression and mental anxiety.
This article combines logic, evidence, and statistics to make good points about the turmoil modern
society faces. The source was useful and gave reliable evidence which was very helpful. The author

Who fired first in the historical Battle of Lexington? Well there is no right answer history has shown
people have come up with theses trying to prove what had happened but we just really don't know.
But I think I have found the the answer. I believe the colonist fired first because they have a history

events they had been found guilty of firing first. My reasons to support my thesis are from British

observed an officer at the head of said troops flourishing his sword, and with a loud voice giving the

Descriptive Essay About Soccer
Soccer. fast moving, strategy, competitive, I loved those aspects in the game. In the month of March,
when all the soccer tryouts began, I decided to try out for an older team which was 2 years older–my
brother's team– just for fun. I went out on the day of the trial and surprisingly, I made the team.
Feeling as if I had won the million dollar lottery, filled with excitement, on the side with fear
because there were boys who were enormous and strong on my team. The only reason they were
bigger, because I was 2 years younger.
It was the first game of the season. It was also the first game for me being on the team. It was the
scared moment of my life, all at once. But I knew it would be fun because I'll improve more rapidly
than I would, playing in my age group.
Tweet!! the game began. 22 powerful bodies on the field. I was not the starting line of players
because I was the younger one and the new one on the team. I knew, in order for me to be the
starting player, I needed to prove to my coach that I am capable of being the starting line. My
brother was the starting player, not because he was better than me, but he had been on the team
longer. He played the same positions as me– left wing– so every time I would have to substitute in
for him when he got tired. I didn't have as much time to play as the others did. With great deals of
struggle and going to each practice with the team. I was determined. Arriving 30 minutes earlier, for
extra warm up and be in the state of mine that I was in the game. Every 2 days, going to the gym to
workout so I could gain bigger and stronger than the older dudes I played with. Beautifully, with all
the self–development skills and techniques, I was in the best shape of my life. Achieving smaller
different goals while aiming for the main one. One shot and multiple kills.
As the time passed, I was halfway through the season. Nevertheless, I expanded immensely and
exceptionally. I could feel it and I could absolutely trust my feelings. I didn't stop there yet. I wanted
to aim higher. I wanted to fly like the birds. I wanted to be the best. Being the starting line of player,
the captain of the team. That was only possible if I was to train more and do everything that was

Rhetorical Analysis Of Andrew Sinek 's Ted Presentation
1. Use a contrarian approach. Make a statement of a universally accepted concept, then go against
conventional wisdom by contradicting the statement. For example, a market trader starts by
contradicting the commonly held advice of buying low and selling high. He says: "It 's wrong. Why?
Because buying low typically entails a stock that 's going in the opposite direction–down–from the
most desired direction–up." This is a provocative opening that engages the audience right away.
2. Ask a series of rhetorical questions. A common way to engage the audience at the start is to ask a
rhetorical question. Better still, start with a series of rhetorical questions. A good example of this
tactic is Simon Sinek 's TED presentation. He starts with: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

That 's over 31 million football fields of rainforest each year."
5. Provide a reference to a historical event. There are times when the day that you present may have
some significance in history that can be tied to the subject of your presentation, as an opening
gambit. You can easily look up what happened on any day in Today In Sport or a more general site
such as This Day In History. You never know what pertinence it might have that will add some
pizzazz to your presentation. It 's worth a look.
6. Use the word imagine. The word imagine invites the audience to create a mental image of
something. Ever since John Lennon 's famous song, it has become a powerful word with emotional

low–cost incubator that can save many lives in underdeveloped countries. Chen opens by saying:
"Please close your eyes and open your hands. Now imagine what you could place in your hands, an
apple, maybe your wallet. Now open your eyes. What about a life?" As she says this, she displays a
slide with an Anne Geddes ' image of a tiny baby held in an adult 's hands. There is power in asking

topic where you want the audience to imagine a positive outcome, or a vision of a better tomorrow.

Setting Realistic Resolutions/Goals for the New Year
Setting Realistic Resolutions/Goals for the New Year
As the New Year approaches, many of us are starting to list down all of our resolutions. The start of
the new year is the perfect time to clean the slate and start afresh. This is great opportunity to
eradicate the bad habits and form new routines that will help you grow into a much better person.
Mental preparation is needed since you're actually taking a process of change that can affect you
psychologically, emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. Always remember that all
positive changes can improve your everyday life. Resolutions are much easier to make than to keep.
Some last until end of January and then settling back to their old patterns. Here are some steps ...

Believe in yourself
Always stay positive about your progress. Always bear in my mind that you are doing this for
yourself and no one else. If you're unable to stick to your resolution, you don't need to wait until
January, either start again from where you are or set a more achievable objective than before.
Don't let small setbacks lose your focus
Experiencing few setbacks is common but don't make it as an excuse to stop. Always remember that
we are all humans and making mistakes is already part of our nature. It doesn't do any good in
getting depressed or stressed out over failures. The best thing we can do is to look into it as
opportunities for learning. Perseverance is the key in overcoming failures and strengthening your
resolution.
Avoid repeating past failures
Another strategy that could keep your goals intact is trying not to make the same resolution year
after year. If you do choose to reach for the same goal as before, try to evaluate things like why it
was unattainable before and what is different in you now to perceive the possibility that you can do
it this time. Layout plans and strategies that are proven effective and change your approach in
overcoming unforeseen obstacles.
Get support from family and friends
You may have probably heard this a million times but having someone to support you in reaching
your goals can definitely help you to stay on track. Having a solid support

Persuasive Essay On The School Should Start Time
Should school start at 7:00 or should it start later in the morning? In Douglas High School, start
times are at 7:30 in the morning. Changing the school schedule to a later start time would result in
many other changes affecting a lot of people. According to the National Sleep Foundation, "The
change will affect the entire community, from students and parents to businesses, libraries, police,
youth sports clubs, bus drivers and many others." Altering the school schedule would influence
numerous aspects of people's lives. Highly coordinated routines would have to be changed and
adapted to the new schedule. A later release time would take time off of students' free time in the
afternoon. Clubs, sports, jobs, and other after–school activities would have to be pushed back later
into the evening. School start times should stay earlier in the morning, since changing routines
would be difficult, students' need free time, and after–school activities would be pushed back.
Perhaps the biggest concern for parents would be having to change and reorganize their carefully
planned, traditional routines. Many people are resistant to change, especially if it involves
reassembling their plans and procedures to adjust to the new schedule. This is a problem for parents'
work schedules since they most likely will not be able to see their kids in the morning which will
leave students unsupervised when they get ready. This is also a problem for transportation since
parents will not be able to take their kids to school, unnecessarily causing traffic and more costs
since bus schedules would change too. According to the National Sleep Foundation, "If elementary
students have the earliest start times, they may be waiting for the bus in the dark early mornings, or
waiting at home alone after school." Later start times are thought to solve tardies and absences, but
if students cannot get to school, it does not solve anything. A change in the school schedule will
result in disorder in many people's daily routines, perhaps having to discard certain activities to fully
adjust to the new schedule. The changes caused by a new schedule affect students too.
Students need time after school to be able to relax and de–stress from school with

the middle point, Melinda slowly begins to thaw. Not only does she start to unfreeze, she begins to
open up to specific and important people in her life. Opening up allows her to feel true happiness
and trust. FInally, as the book starts to make way towards the ending, Melinda is starting to fully

She struggles in school, fights with her parents, and most importantly, doesn't open up to anyone
about her feelings. The protagonist doesn't know how to express her feelings to others, so she
expresses them differently. "I bite my lips... they bleed." (Anderson 5) Also, Melinda believes
expressing feelings makes it worse and that things are better left unsaid. The story stated, "It is
easier not to say anything. Shut your trap, button your lip, can it. All that crap on TV about

The Importance Of Writing In Writing
Writing from sources is very important for academic inquiry. It plays an important role in
publication as well. Writing from the sources in introductory writing sources devoted to research
writing, critical thinking, analysis, and argument. Writing from sources made people to write some
valuable research on summary. Students have to be sure that they are using the right sources, and
they are understanding the material. The main reason for patch writing on papers is that students do
not understand the material. Students have to understand the subject to be able to write a good
summary and analysis. Students usually patch writing on papers when they don't understand the
material. I used to do the same thing when I couldn't understand the subject. Analyzing the material
and trying to avoid becoming confused by data smog, can help students to avoid patch writing.
According to Howard (1993), "we define patchwriting as reproducing source language with some
words deleted or added, some grammatical structures altered, or some synonyms used".Patchwriting
is when students use the source language with some words deleted or added. The grammatical
instruction and language is the same. They just exchange some words to their synonyms.
Patchwriting can be considered plagiarism. If students understand the material, they do not need to
use the patchwriting. They can start writing the summary or analysis by using their own vocabulary.
Patchwriting make the readers very confused because they

Reflection About Writing

Mr. Erickson
English 101

When I say, "There are 171,476 words in the dictionary, all you have to do is start with one," I mean,
even the littlest steps can make a major difference. Starting a paper may be hard but once you start,
the writing flows naturally. Taking the first steps and finally sitting down to write something for the
first time deserves that fearless attitude you get whenever you start something new. There are
several words to use, beginning with one, will light the fire you need. Everyone must start
somewhere. Now, stopping may also be difficult after you finally get started. My prior experiences

It may still be hard for me to start a piece of writing, but like I said, once I start I can't stop. I believe
that with every experience someone has, whether it is in or out of the class, it will always effect the
way that person portrays his or her writing, such as myself.
Exploration one had a major impact on the way I have been perceiving things and portraying them
in my writing. It gave me an insight into how my writing has been effected by my prior experiences.
My writing shows a reflection of my experiences I have had, whether it's from school or at home.
Much of what we experience is translated into our writing, it shows us who we are. As said in the
Threshold Concepts of Writing: "Your experiences with writing and with literacy are part of who
you are, part of your identity."
The way Sommers discusses her experiences with writing, at home and as she teaches, displays who
she is as a writer and a person. She states, "With writing and with teaching, as well as with love, we
don't know how the sentence will begin and, rarely ever, how it will end." It is the uncertainty that
pushes us into great writing. We must have the courage to take those leaps of faith, to find ourselves
as writers. Just like we must have the courage to start our writing. One simple word could change it
all, and make something decent to extraordinary.

Brief Summary: The Start Of World War I
The Start Of WW1 A shot that rang throughout Europe, fascinating how a bullet can cause a war
around the world. The start of WW1 is caused by three different ideals. Imperialism, which caused
small battles that at any moment could turn into war. Alliances also played a part, countries would
make alliances, stopping others from attacking or in this case, to stop Germany from growing in
power. Another influence of the war was nationalism, which influenced revolts and riots in the
European countries. Imperialistic policies helped cause small battles over territories and colonies,
which then led to WW1. There was a trade rivalry in the manufacturing industry between Germany
and Britain, also including a coal production rivalry between

The Main Reasons: What Did World War I Start?
There were many reasons of why world war one was started but there was very few factors on what
actually caused it,So today am going to talk about the main factors on what sparked world war 1 up,
and also today i'll be talking about why the United States decided to join into the war. So what first
caused the spark of world war one is the assassination of the Archduke Franz, and the group of
terrorist that wanted to kill him was called the Black Hand that sent out someone to kill him, and
that right there is what caused the very beginning of World War one. But the assassination of the
Archduke was not the only reason why world war one has started but there was plenty of other
reasons for example theres a acronym that helps me remember it which is M.A.I.N., and what it
stands for is Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism. But anyways Germany and France
started world war one and decided to fight so it goes on and the United states want nothing to do
with the war except the U.S. sees a opportunity to make money and they sell guns, ammo, and
resources to both sides and they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of Finding Useful And Strong Evidence
Finding useful and strong evidence is always one of the most difficult, yet one of the most important
aspectpart of writing an essay. Evidence is the foundationbase of an essay and all the essay's content
relies on the evidence to support it and make a powerful statement. Most college students are
familiar with the concept of finding and using evidence to support their arguments in their essays. It
has been something that we have learned in grade school that we have all executed on all of our
essays. Evidence is used in order to make all statements and arguments deemed correct. It is always
difficult to refute someone when they have strong evidence. With good evidence, the author is able
to convince the reader to believe what the author is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many parts of the article, I will either include a lot of my own analysis or a lot of quotes from
other articles. I need to find a perfect balance between the two so i have the perfect amount of my
own work and analysis and the evidence I need to include in order to justify my analysis. Another
weakness I think is the way I cite my sources. I'm not completely sure the best way to cite my
source. I know that I need to have a works cited part but I struggle with incorporating my citation
into the actual text. Some strengths that I have are my organization. I was able to split my article
into separate sections and each section describes a different factor that students should take account
of when finding sources and evidence for their writings. I also think a strength of mine was relating
to the audience because I know that my audience is college students, so incorporated different
scenarios and situations that they would relate to more. For example, I know that college students
are typically very experienced in social media, so I incorporated a section about social media
because I know that many college students may not know that using social media as a new source is
not resourceful.

Personal Narrative: The Hospital Room

My dad takes the bike off the trailer as I put on my neon gear. The last buckle clicks into place, and I

The Year That Changed Europe The Start Of World War I

November 12, 2015
1914 was the year that changed Europe–the start of World War I. Total was broke out between
Germany, France, Britain, and Russia and it was the first total war in history. Many historians have
takes on World War I, not that it was just a total war, but also because this time in Europe, it was a
completely different kind of war that was being fought. In Understanding the Great War, World War
I was a break from the history of warfare because of its violent style of fighting, its influence on
women and children, and its propaganda. War of Europe's past were fought like any other wars with

A completely different approach from battles in the past was that in World War I, civilians became a
new target. When Germany would invade a country, the troops would attack civilians and even
imprison them (Audoin–Rouzeau & Becker 45). These prisoners of war were then put into camps on
German territory and because of the blockade against Germany created by Britain to lessen their
resources; the prisoners were being "deprived" of food (Audoin–Rouzeau & Becker 62). German
military would even use the prisoners in battles, turning them into "human shields" for protection
(Audoin–Rouzeau & Becker 77). German troops even went to the extreme with attacking civilians
by exiling them to face starvation, as German military did with the Armenians (Audoin–Rouzeau &
Becker 64). The German military used genocide to ultimately fight against their opposing nations.
Another way opposing sides would fight against one another was through the use of tanks and
planes, a concept never used before because of technology. Bombs were then dropped onto enemy's
territory, killing almost all innocent people (Audoin–Rouzeau & Becker 108). By using excessive
violence, "psychological damage" that was irreversible was inflicted on a vast majority of soldiers,
still inflicting harm even after the war ended (Audoin–Rouzeau & Becker 25). This new style of

Credible Sources
In the 21st century, credible sources are a crucial preliminary element to back up ideas and
arguments in the preparation of academic writing and research as well as an opportunity to learn
how to communicate in the computerised world. Credible sources play a significant role in academic
writing to show the above board demonstration of your academic work (Swinburne Online, n.d.).
Many people struggle to evaluate online information and opinions available and it difficult to
discern credible online sources (Amsbary & Powell, 2003; Meola, 2004; Metzger, Flanagin, Eyal, et
al., 2003; Scholz–Crane, 1998). Returning to study after a long break is hard for me, but using the
credible sources will help me academically. Credible sources are beneficial for me as a tertiary
learner to enable me not to plagiarise in my assessments and to be able to learn from experts in the
field. Reliable sources help me to use the information to learn successfully, raise new knowledge,

Is Discernment A Good Source?
Discernment Discernment is the idea of judgement and the idea of knowing and being able to derive
right from wrong. In today's society this is a very week characteristic and is something that everyone
needs improvement on. The media, technology, and idea of absolute truth guide us into thinking and
believing that everything we see and hear is correct and valid. But this is no way to live and no way
to derive information and ultimately understand the world. Throughout today's society there are
many ways to gather information, and the quickest and easiest way to get access to this information
is through the internet. The internet is the fastest source in the palm of our hands, which can be used
to do wonderful things and spread valuable news or it can also be used to spread false and
misleading information. There are many online news websites used that can be very reliable such as
CNN which is just one example of a very reliable source. One way to easily depict a good source
from a bad source online is the type of publishers and also the type of website for finding
information. For example, finding a topic off of Wikipedia compared to a topic off of a government
based website is probably not the best source of information. Having a reliable source such as the
government or other sources is something we can trust, rather than a website where any individual
can change the content. Secondly, gathering information from fellow peers and individuals is also
another useful way to

Excuse #1: It's too risky to quit my job
This would have been a valid excuse 10 years back before we all witnessed the recession in 2008,
but not anymore. We all saw how millions of people lost their jobs and became unemployed
overnight. Job security is a myth. The biggest risk you can take in life is to hand over the steering
wheel of your life to your employer.
When you totally depend on your employer for your monthly salary, you are literally at the mercy of
the company. Even if you are one of the top performers in your company, there could be a lot of
external factors that can put your job at risk. The company's shares may go down in the stock market

your boss over a trivial issue and get fired! Anything is possible.
On the other hand, if you are an entrepreneur, you take total control over your life.
You can set targets for your business and get the resources to achieve it. If you can see some great

The Wikipedia article on Robert Smalls is not a reliable source of information. Simply because

need a start getting basic information. The Robert small's topic was a very good one for explaining
this. Reliable sources are not very hard to find once you get the idea of what they are and should be.
They state facts and have sources from other places too not just what the author's biased opinion is

The Last Suffering Ship Reflection
The illness has taken its first life and people are starting to panic. By this point the crew has done all
they can do to get the repairs done pushing them self to exhaustion. The nurses and helpers are
tenting to all the patients and distributing the vaccine as fast as possible and to the right patients. I
believe the way they are only giving half doses out and waiting to see who doesn't show signs of
getting better before giving the full dose is working and an affective way to calm more people down.
I would try and isolate patients from non–sick passengers as much as possible to help prevent
spread. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rhonda the nurse is doing a great job taking care of the patients. She might be rude and angry at
times but when you don't get much sleep and are working so hard with patients that are constantly
whining and bugging you trying to get something out of you that you cant give them, yeah your
going to be grumpy. She is doing her job and being very firm with her patients by not letting them
coax her into anything that would disrupt her work. Putting out chores for the passengers to do like
cleaning and even helping wherever they can will help not only keep the ship clean and possibly get
I fixed faster, it will also take their minds off of the issue at hand and possibly even release some
stress they have built up. The passengers need to be doing something other then just sitting around
watching people get sick. Once you can get people to start helping out around the boat you will have
less aggravation and stress build up. So we get back to shore and the media wants to interview the
leading doctor (Me). Handling the media is a big deal and takes very good and clear talking. You
need to present yourself professionally and sympathetic to the passengers. Trying not to say to much
into detail about what happened is key too. You don't want to leak bad things to the media so they
can blow it up making you and the ship–liner look bad. The

Descriptive Essay About Soccer
Soccer. Fast paced. Strategic. Competitive. I loved those aspects of the game. In the month of
March, when all the soccer tryouts began, I decided to try out for an older team, which was 2 years
older –my brother's team– just for fun. I went out on the day of the trial and surprisingly, I made the
team. Feeling as if I had won the million dollar lottery, filled with excitement, fear crept up inside of
me because there were boys who were enormous and strong on the team. The size gap was
frightening. It was the first game of the season. It was also the first game for me being on the team.
It was a terrifying moment of my life, yet the best all at once. But I knew it would be fun– I'll
improve more rapidly than I would playing with my own age group. Tweet!! The game began. 22
powerful bodies hit the field. I was not the starting line of players. I was the youngest one and the
newest one on the team. I knew, in order for me to be the starting player, I needed to impress and
show my capabilities on the field. My brother was the starting player, not because he was better than
me, but he had been on the team longer. He played the same position as me, left wing, so I would
have to substitute in for him when he got tired. I didn't have as much play time as the others did. I
struggled to be as astonishing as the other boys on my team. I couldn't stand the thought of giving
up. I thrived through all the troubles I was faced with and still managed to maintain a stunning

John Oliver 's Piece On Food Waste
While everyone may love to go out and enjoy a fine meal with friends and family, most will never
stop to think the process of how the food came about, or the production thereof. John Oliver's piece
on "Food Waste" outlines all the problems of food waste and how they can impact society, animals,
nature, and even the farmers who harvest the produce. America and its businesses should try to
decrease the amount of food being wasted. By doing so, not only are we a contributing factor to help
reduce waste, save time and money, but we are also aiding the less–fortunate in a society, while still
saving natural resources and the planet as a whole. There is enough food waste in America to fill up
730 football stadiums. Yet, ironically there were almost 50 million people who live in households
that are food–insecure in 2013. Thus, it is critically important to help reduce (or at the very least
reevaluate) the amount of food that is wasted so it can be used to help those who can't always afford
it, or, help to reduce the impact of methane released by landfills, or, help to use less resources gone
into making the produce. John Oliver starts out his presentation by emphasizing the obsession of
food by America and the constant bombardment of food advertisement. Even making it as a part of
American culture and the stereotypical representation of America. Commenting on statistics of how
much produced food is then going on to landfills as waste. Ironically pointing out the amount of
people

Why Liberals Are Losing the National Debt Argument Explained

  • 1. Why Liberals Are Losing The National Debt Argument Getting to the source of reliable sources: In today's world, with all the technology that is readily available, finding information that is credible can pose a challenge. With social media and everything being online, it seems as if anyone from everywhere can post whatever they want, whether it is deemed to be accurate or not. In using the topic of national debt in the United States as a guide, I was able to analyze plausible sources and compare them to inaccurate sources. Journalist, Brandon Greife, in his article, "Liberals are Losing the National Debt Argument," elaborates on the topic of what liberals are accomplishing when it comes to national debt but his purpose is to tell readers about how liberals are going about doing that and voice his opinions on why he thinks it is the wrong way. Throughout his article, he expresses a biased tone to convey his feelings on the topic. On the other hand, businessman, Tony Robbins, in his video, "The National Debt Decoded," discusses the national debt of the United States. Robbins' purpose is to inform listeners on the topic of national debt and challenge them on what some of the solutions should be. He adopts a matter–of–fact tone in order to display the problems that the United States is facing in his fellow American citizens. Of the sources that I reviewed, the video by Robbins is the most reliable source because viewers are able to understand what he is saying throughout his presentation and his diction. • 3. Comparing Two Magazines Essay Comparing Two Magazines For my compare and contrast essay, I have decided to compare two magazines in the financial and business world of entrepreneurs. The name of the first magazine is " Small business opportunities" and the second magazine is "Entrepreneurs – Be your own boss" The theme of the first magazine is to highlight, how and what type of businesses to start and make money without putting in much of the hard work. The very first page of the magazine shows an absolute image of the man and women dressed up with lots of money and a road of success. The magazine rapidity claims" Sure ways to make money". It seems like editor is personally involved in guaranteeing the success of the business with highlighting text displaying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cover page is much simpler yet attractive without any graphics simply saying "Low cost businesses you can start today". The very first page is well displayed; it contains popular franchise information. The magazine takes a step by step approach to guide an individual with general topics like "How to start up and build a business". It seems like editor has no bias towards the information presented. The emphasis of this magazine is on the presenting more information about a product rather then just giving the monitory figures. The color and layout of the magazine is very simple and professional. Editor shows concern of misleading ads and puts emphasis on starting small. Towards the middle of the magazine in which he presents a simple but very well laid out table of the popular franchises, with topics like demographics, startup cost and brief introduction of the provider. In the last part of the magazine editor has put together a list of other sources and publication to inform and pursue readers to research more rather have them jump to conclusion by just looking at inflated figures. In conclusion, I have found that both of these magazines are very different and appeals to different class of people. The first magazine is not for the startup businessman but for somebody who can sense a foe or real business offer. The second magazine is a starting point for new entrepreneurs who want to start small but need a peek into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Reflection Paper There will be times in life that knocks you down so hard that you feel as if you don't have the strength to get back up. It is all about how you handle the situations that show just how strong you truly are. All my life I have been a victim of bullying. Every time the bullies came to me I acted strong but once I got home I would lock myself in my bedroom for hours crying asking God what have I done wrong, and why me. The bullying had gotten so bad that it had led up to depression. I have tried cutting and overdosing more than once. But nothing was there to ease the pain that I had felt. One day I didn't eat. That one day lead to a week, which leads to a month, which led to 3 months. I lived off half a baby plate of food for dinner a day because my mindset was saying to me that I needed to be skinny for people to like me. So, yes I was physically starving myself at the age of 14. Once it was time for Freshman year to start I finally felt beautiful, at least that is what I had thought. Shortly within the school year, the bullying came back and the depression hit me in the face once again. This time I wasn't trying to starve, I was eating excessively and I wasn't cutting. I wasn't doing anything but lying down in my bed with earbuds in trying to isolate myself. People think that depression is just sadness. It isn't. Depression is when you feel completely empty. You start to think and wonder what the future hold for you but yet all you see is black because you start to see a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Informative Speech My first informative speech was successful I would say. The topic I chose was Sephora and it was easy to do because I am interested in it. I did not have many problems looking up information or struggle to stay interested because Sephora is a very unique store/brand. It always makes doing research easier when you get to choose and are interested in your topic! One thing that I think i did very well was that I put a lot of time into my speech I spent hours looking up information that I wanted to talk about. I even wrote down things and decided not to talk about them because that information was not as relevant as some of the other things I wanted to talk about. I put a lot of time and effort into the preparation of my speech that I feel like it better prepared me for what I was going to talk about. By looking up all the information I was better educated on my topic. Being better educated I your topic can intrigue the audience because they trust you and know what you are saying so they will listen. The goal of the speech was to inform the audience on something new or to update them on things they may already know so you want to find information about the topic that maybe everybody does not already know. Finding a good opening sentence to get the audience involved or immediately interested in your topic can be hard, but by researching and knowing your audience it will help you in the start of your speech. Another thing that I think I executed well was that I did find information and by credible sources. I felt as if I sounded credible by finding reliable sources. I was able to find information that was new and credible by just searching for the right sources. I tried my best to avoid google and I tried to find information from a newspaper article or something that could be trusted. By having credible sources your speech is more likely to intrigues the audience and cause them to possibly go home and look up more information from those sources. Using sources helps your audience become better educated in the subject by what you say and even on their own. I also believe that I was well prepared with my speech. I would go over my speech numerous times a day so that I knew what I was going to say. I practiced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Belonging whether it's race or love is a big part of this film and constantly appears in different ways. One of the main characters, Dave Lovelace throughout the film is constantly rejected as he tries to belong and be a part of the group. The first scene that introduces Dave was him sleeping in his car with a huge mess and he gets woken up by a bunch of kids hitting his car, he got up and the first thing that you hear is bear bottles clanging around at his feet. This first scene of Dave just shows that his life is not going very well and that he is most likely an alcoholic. Dave then got out of his car with no pants on and walked into the ... Gail has the strongest connection with Dave and that is show and built up as the film continues on, a major scene where Dave and Gail start to bond a bit more is when Gail is telling Dave the story of how Kay was taken from them, then once Gail had finished Dave had a little speech "everyone thinks you're just a mouth on legs, this defensive argumentative old which, there's a reason why your this terrible mouth and that's because your mamma bear", as this little speech is going there are close up shot that switch from Dave to Gail and it really shows them making a stronger bound furthermore, during the girls show Dave and Gail make eye contact and they both smile at each other for a while, which further shows that Dave is starting to belong with them. Dave really shows that he cares for the girls in one particular scene, when they are attacked just before going back on stage and Dave gets shot looking for Kay and Julie in the middle of an attack, then once Gail got back she read the letter that Dave gave her and he asked to marry her and he says "It would be a great honour to become a part of your family", once Gail got to see him in the hospital she said yes to his ... INTRODUCTION [[Wikidata, and the problem]] Wikidata is a central repository collecting structured data via collaborative online communities. It has provided sup– port for the content of Wikipedia and as well as other sites1. Like many other projects that rely on contributions from volunteer users, Wikidata content are largely edited by vol– unteers (more than fifteen thousand active users2) from di– verse locations, backgrounds and skill levels. It is inevitable there is demand in understanding the quality and trustwor– thiness of Wikidata. What It Take to Be a Scholarly Writier Essay examples Scholarly writing is no different from all other writing, except, beside it having a purpose and having an audience like any other writings, scholarly writing is evidence–based (Laureate Education, 2012). It is important, since the scholar–practitioner write for a specific audience, that his or her material be free of personal opinion, assumption, and bias. When writing a scholarly material, a scholar–practitioner has to be objective in tone, write clearly, concise, produce a mechanically correct writing that contains evidence–based material. Before starting writing, a scholar– practitioner, first would consider the purpose of the writing, then the audience being addressed in the writing. As a Walden student and a ... The Essential Guide to Online Learning states that "scholarly writing is material written for a specific purpose to a specific audience. It's based on evidence, not assumptions or opinions. It's objective in tone, and the writing is clear, concise, and mechanically correct" (Laureate Education, 2013). For an effective writing, it is necessary that scholar–practitioner write clearly, be concise, and use of precise and appropriate terms to ensure that the writing is mechanically correct as Professor Lilburn Hoehn said, "Figure out what you want to say and just say it" (Laureate Education, 2007). When looking at clarity and concision of writing, I read a post on the difference between Piaget and Erickson developmental theory. After a discussion on points, which set these two theories apart, the writer finally concluded with these statements: "Erikson believed development went beyond the years of development that Piaget focused on. Both theorists' believed in the importance of developmental stages of younger years of life. Piaget believed development went beyond the younger years of life and went past even into the years of ... Introduction When a person reads a source for information the reader wants that information to be reliable so they could trust the source meaning the reader needs their information source to be credible. Credibility is important because everyone on the planet could write on a topic, but that does not mean that what they wrote is true and should be believed in. People who write more often than not have an agenda. To make the reader feel a certain way or to make them believe in what the author told them too. Evaluating credibility means looking into the author and their agenda, the publisher to see where the information comes from, evidence of bias, uses of sources to support their information, verifiability to see if it still holds context, ... Objective Summaries & Source Credibility Analysis The article "Rehabilitate or punish?" written by Etienne Benson on apa.org–the website of the American Psychological Association–provides insight on the topic of the concept of rehabilitating prisoners especially the mentally ill or to continue following the "get tough on crime" method. The article also factors in how psychology can better help even non–mentally ill prisoners to better be able to transition into citizen life without re–imprisonment than go hard core on the prisoners to prove a point. Rating the article while evaluating on a six–point scale. I gave the article a score of (). He is a historian in the field of science, technology, and the environment (). For the publisher, I give the score of six because the source is an educational professional site in the field of psychology which is what the article is about. In the evidence of bias category, I give the article a three. The author has a strong preference to giving the prisoners the mental help they need instead of just punishing them. I hauled myself up and went downstairs to get some breakfast before my cousins, Scarlett, Alex, and Gemma realized I had another flashback. They definitely wouldn't let me go to find the killers if they knew I kept having flashbacks. Once I got to the kitchen, I realized our chef wasn't awake to make breakfast because it was 4 o'clock in the morning. I decided to waste a few hours training, so I would be hungry for breakfast. As my attention getter, I used a narrative about an elderly woman who went through extreme pain from the style of feet at the time. I believe it was effective because it was interesting and the aspect of pain is something many people will listen to. I stated that I was going to be talking about what most people are doing wrong with wearing shoes, what specific shoes can do to one's health, and ways to prevent shoes from hurting people. The was an implied relationship with the topic to the audience because I believe that everyone in the class wears shoes so they should care what the effects could possibly be. My speech was well organized in the way that we know what people are doing wrong to cause bad effects on your health by shoes to learning the effects specific shoes can do to your health to learning ways to prevent any effects from occurring. The pattern of organization I used was one of what you are doing to consequences to prevention. I believe that my main points were pretty easy to follow because each main point follows another. I successfully used transitions/connectives in this speech compared to last speech. I view family in a whole different perspective. The word family is a powerful and meaningful word. To me, it means people who accept you for who you are where there 's no hatred or judgement and love you unconditionally. A dog or pet can simply become family. A person who you can count on through your emotional or financial distress can also be family. Growing up my parents and siblings weren 't always supportive or loving. In the month of March, when all the soccer tryouts began, I decided to try out for an older team which was 2 years older–my brother's team– just for fun. I went out on the day of the trial and surprisingly, I made the team. Feeling as if I had won the million dollar lottery, filled with excitement, on the side with fear because there were boys who were enormous and strong on my team. The only reason they were bigger, because I was 2 years younger. It was the first game of the season. It was also the first game for me being on the team. It was the scared moment of my life, all at once. But I knew it would be fun because I'll improve more rapidly than I would, playing in my age group. Tweet!! the game began. 22 powerful bodies on the field. I was not the starting line of players because I was the younger one and the new one on the team. I knew, in order for me to be the starting player, I needed to prove to my coach that I am capable of being the starting line. My brother was the starting player, not because he was better than me, but he had been on the team longer. He played the same positions as me– left wing– so every time I would have to substitute in for him when he got tired. I didn't have as much time to play as the others did. With great deals of struggle and going to each practice with the team. I was determined. Arriving 30 minutes earlier, for extra warm up and be in the state of mine that I was in the game. Every 2 days, going to the gym to workout so I could gain bigger and stronger than the older dudes I played with. Beautifully, with all the self–development skills and techniques, I was in the best shape of my life. Achieving smaller different goals while aiming for the main one. One shot and multiple kills. As the time passed, I was halfway through the season. Nevertheless, I expanded immensely and exceptionally. I could feel it and I could absolutely trust my feelings. I didn't stop there yet. I wanted to aim higher. I wanted to fly like the birds. I wanted to be the best. Being the starting line of player, the captain of the team. • 36. Rhetorical Analysis Of Andrew Sinek 's Ted Presentation 1. Use a contrarian approach. Make a statement of a universally accepted concept, then go against conventional wisdom by contradicting the statement. For example, a market trader starts by contradicting the commonly held advice of buying low and selling high. He says: "It 's wrong. Why? Because buying low typically entails a stock that 's going in the opposite direction–down–from the most desired direction–up." This is a provocative opening that engages the audience right away. 2. Ask a series of rhetorical questions. A common way to engage the audience at the start is to ask a rhetorical question. Better still, start with a series of rhetorical questions. A good example of this tactic is Simon Sinek 's TED presentation. He starts with: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That 's over 31 million football fields of rainforest each year." 5. Provide a reference to a historical event. There are times when the day that you present may have some significance in history that can be tied to the subject of your presentation, as an opening gambit. You can easily look up what happened on any day in Today In Sport or a more general site such as This Day In History. You never know what pertinence it might have that will add some pizzazz to your presentation. It 's worth a look. 6. Use the word imagine. The word imagine invites the audience to create a mental image of something. Ever since John Lennon 's famous song, it has become a powerful word with emotional appeal. A particularly skillful use of the word occurs in Jane Chen 's TED talk. She speaks about a low–cost incubator that can save many lives in underdeveloped countries. Chen opens by saying: "Please close your eyes and open your hands. Now imagine what you could place in your hands, an apple, maybe your wallet. Now open your eyes. What about a life?" As she says this, she displays a slide with an Anne Geddes ' image of a tiny baby held in an adult 's hands. There is power in asking the audience to conjure up their imagination, to play along. This tactic can easily be adapted to any topic where you want the audience to imagine a positive outcome, or a vision of a better tomorrow. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Persuasive Essay On The School Should Start Time Should school start at 7:00 or should it start later in the morning? In Douglas High School, start times are at 7:30 in the morning. Changing the school schedule to a later start time would result in many other changes affecting a lot of people. According to the National Sleep Foundation, "The change will affect the entire community, from students and parents to businesses, libraries, police, youth sports clubs, bus drivers and many others." Altering the school schedule would influence numerous aspects of people's lives. Highly coordinated routines would have to be changed and adapted to the new schedule. A later release time would take time off of students' free time in the afternoon. Clubs, sports, jobs, and other after–school activities would have to be pushed back later into the evening. School start times should stay earlier in the morning, since changing routines would be difficult, students' need free time, and after–school activities would be pushed back. Perhaps the biggest concern for parents would be having to change and reorganize their carefully planned, traditional routines. Many people are resistant to change, especially if it involves reassembling their plans and procedures to adjust to the new schedule. This is a problem for parents' work schedules since they most likely will not be able to see their kids in the morning which will leave students unsupervised when they get ready. This is also a problem for transportation since parents will not be able to take their kids to school, unnecessarily causing traffic and more costs since bus schedules would change too. According to the National Sleep Foundation, "If elementary students have the earliest start times, they may be waiting for the bus in the dark early mornings, or waiting at home alone after school." Later start times are thought to solve tardies and absences, but if students cannot get to school, it does not solve anything. A change in the school schedule will result in disorder in many people's daily routines, perhaps having to discard certain activities to fully adjust to the new schedule. The changes caused by a new schedule affect students too. Students need time after school to be able to relax and de–stress from school with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. The Importance Of Writing In Writing Writing from sources is very important for academic inquiry. It plays an important role in publication as well. Writing from the sources in introductory writing sources devoted to research writing, critical thinking, analysis, and argument. Writing from sources made people to write some valuable research on summary. Students have to be sure that they are using the right sources, and they are understanding the material. The main reason for patch writing on papers is that students do not understand the material. Students have to understand the subject to be able to write a good summary and analysis. Students usually patch writing on papers when they don't understand the material. I used to do the same thing when I couldn't understand the subject. Analyzing the material and trying to avoid becoming confused by data smog, can help students to avoid patch writing. According to Howard (1993), "we define patchwriting as reproducing source language with some words deleted or added, some grammatical structures altered, or some synonyms used".Patchwriting is when students use the source language with some words deleted or added. The grammatical instruction and language is the same. They just exchange some words to their synonyms. Patchwriting can be considered plagiarism. Taking the first steps and finally sitting down to write something for the first time deserves that fearless attitude you get whenever you start something new. There are several words to use, beginning with one, will light the fire you need. Everyone must start somewhere. Now, stopping may also be difficult after you finally get started. My prior experiences with writing have been effected by many reasons. One of those reasons has always been how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It may still be hard for me to start a piece of writing, but like I said, once I start I can't stop. I believe that with every experience someone has, whether it is in or out of the class, it will always effect the way that person portrays his or her writing, such as myself. Exploration one had a major impact on the way I have been perceiving things and portraying them in my writing. It gave me an insight into how my writing has been effected by my prior experiences. My writing shows a reflection of my experiences I have had, whether it's from school or at home. Much of what we experience is translated into our writing, it shows us who we are. As said in the Threshold Concepts of Writing: "Your experiences with writing and with literacy are part of who you are, part of your identity." The way Sommers discusses her experiences with writing, at home and as she teaches, displays who she is as a writer and a person. She states, "With writing and with teaching, as well as with love, we don't know how the sentence will begin and, rarely ever, how it will end." It is the uncertainty that pushes us into great writing. We must have the courage to take those leaps of faith, to find ourselves as writers. Just like we must have the courage to start our writing. One simple word could change it all, and make something decent to extraordinary. Looking ahead into English 101, I want to learn more about the concepts of different writing's, ... • 51. Brief Summary: The Start Of World War I The Start Of WW1 A shot that rang throughout Europe, fascinating how a bullet can cause a war around the world. The start of WW1 is caused by three different ideals. Imperialism, which caused small battles that at any moment could turn into war. Alliances also played a part, countries would make alliances, stopping others from attacking or in this case, to stop Germany from growing in power. Another influence of the war was nationalism, which influenced revolts and riots in the European countries. Imperialistic policies helped cause small battles over territories and colonies, which then led to WW1. There was a trade rivalry in the manufacturing industry between Germany and Britain, also including a coal production rivalry between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. The Main Reasons: What Did World War I Start? There were many reasons of why world war one was started but there was very few factors on what actually caused it,So today am going to talk about the main factors on what sparked world war 1 up, and also today i'll be talking about why the United States decided to join into the war. So what first caused the spark of world war one is the assassination of the Archduke Franz, and the group of terrorist that wanted to kill him was called the Black Hand that sent out someone to kill him, and that right there is what caused the very beginning of World War one. But the assassination of the Archduke was not the only reason why world war one has started but there was plenty of other reasons for example theres a acronym that helps me remember it which is M.A.I.N., and what it stands for is Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism. But anyways Germany and France started world war one and decided to fight so it goes on and the United states want nothing to do with the war except the U.S. sees a opportunity to make money and they sell guns, ammo, and resources to both sides and they ... • 55. The Importance Of Finding Useful And Strong Evidence Finding useful and strong evidence is always one of the most difficult, yet one of the most important aspectpart of writing an essay. Evidence is the foundationbase of an essay and all the essay's content relies on the evidence to support it and make a powerful statement. Most college students are familiar with the concept of finding and using evidence to support their arguments in their essays. It has been something that we have learned in grade school that we have all executed on all of our essays. Evidence is used in order to make all statements and arguments deemed correct. It is always difficult to refute someone when they have strong evidence. With good evidence, the author is able to convince the reader to believe what the author is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In many parts of the article, I will either include a lot of my own analysis or a lot of quotes from other articles. I need to find a perfect balance between the two so i have the perfect amount of my own work and analysis and the evidence I need to include in order to justify my analysis. Another weakness I think is the way I cite my sources. I'm not completely sure the best way to cite my source. I know that I need to have a works cited part but I struggle with incorporating my citation into the actual text. Some strengths that I have are my organization. I was able to split my article into separate sections and each section describes a different factor that students should take account of when finding sources and evidence for their writings. I also think a strength of mine was relating to the audience because I know that my audience is college students, so incorporated different scenarios and situations that they would relate to more. For example, I know that college students are typically very experienced in social media, so I incorporated a section about social media because I know that many college students may not know that using social media as a new source is not resourceful. How to Find Reliable Sources as Evidence Introduction The concept of using evidence to support your words is a concept that most people are familiar with and is constantly used everyday. Picking up my arm to stretch, but unable to move as thoughts start rushing to my head. A familiar face steps into the room. Her eyes a red color from crying I can tell. She has wavy brown hair and an hourglass figure. Small and tan she hesitantly walks closer and lies a small hand on my head. That's the last thing I remember before I black out again. Total was broke out between Germany, France, Britain, and Russia and it was the first total war in history. Many historians have takes on World War I, not that it was just a total war, but also because this time in Europe, it was a completely different kind of war that was being fought. In Understanding the Great War, World War I was a break from the history of warfare because of its violent style of fighting, its influence on women and children, and its propaganda. War of Europe's past were fought like any other wars with plans and logistics, but WWI was different because its main goal practiced by many fighting nations was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A completely different approach from battles in the past was that in World War I, civilians became a new target. When Germany would invade a country, the troops would attack civilians and even imprison them (Audoin–Rouzeau & Becker 45). These prisoners of war were then put into camps on German territory and because of the blockade against Germany created by Britain to lessen their resources; the prisoners were being "deprived" of food (Audoin–Rouzeau & Becker 62). German military would even use the prisoners in battles, turning them into "human shields" for protection (Audoin–Rouzeau & Becker 77). German troops even went to the extreme with attacking civilians by exiling them to face starvation, as German military did with the Armenians (Audoin–Rouzeau & Becker 64). The German military used genocide to ultimately fight against their opposing nations. Another way opposing sides would fight against one another was through the use of tanks and planes, a concept never used before because of technology. Bombs were then dropped onto enemy's territory, killing almost all innocent people (Audoin–Rouzeau & Becker 108). By using excessive violence, "psychological damage" that was irreversible was inflicted on a vast majority of soldiers, still inflicting harm even after the war ended (Audoin–Rouzeau & Becker 25). Credible Sources In the 21st century, credible sources are a crucial preliminary element to back up ideas and arguments in the preparation of academic writing and research as well as an opportunity to learn how to communicate in the computerised world. Credible sources play a significant role in academic writing to show the above board demonstration of your academic work (Swinburne Online, n.d.). Many people struggle to evaluate online information and opinions available and it difficult to discern credible online sources (Amsbary & Powell, 2003; Meola, 2004; Metzger, Flanagin, Eyal, et al., 2003; Scholz–Crane, 1998). Returning to study after a long break is hard for me, but using the credible sources will help me academically. Credible sources are beneficial for me as a tertiary learner to enable me not to plagiarise in my assessments and to be able to learn from experts in the field. • 63. Is Discernment A Good Source? Discernment Discernment is the idea of judgement and the idea of knowing and being able to derive right from wrong. In today's society this is a very week characteristic and is something that everyone needs improvement on. The media, technology, and idea of absolute truth guide us into thinking and believing that everything we see and hear is correct and valid. But this is no way to live and no way to derive information and ultimately understand the world. Throughout today's society there are many ways to gather information, and the quickest and easiest way to get access to this information is through the internet. The internet is the fastest source in the palm of our hands, which can be used to do wonderful things and spread valuable news or it can also be used to spread false and misleading information. There are many online news websites used that can be very reliable such as CNN which is just one example of a very reliable source. One way to easily depict a good source from a bad source online is the type of publishers and also the type of website for finding information. For example, finding a topic off of Wikipedia compared to a topic off of a government based website is probably not the best source of information. Having a reliable source such as the government or other sources is something we can trust, rather than a website where any individual can change the content. Secondly, gathering information from fellow peers and individuals is also another useful way to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Self Evaluation : An African American Male Self Evaluation Growing up being an African American male I would often hear that I had "2 strikes against me and with one more strike I would be out." Now this is something I've been told since I was a toddler by my mother, father, grandmother, and on occasion even my teachers. They were implying that being black in America is a strike, and being a male was another strike, and all I needed was one more strike before I ended up behind bars or even dead. So based of what I've been told it seems to me that I came into this world with a huge disadvantage. • 79. John Oliver 's Piece On Food Waste While everyone may love to go out and enjoy a fine meal with friends and family, most will never stop to think the process of how the food came about, or the production thereof. John Oliver's piece on "Food Waste" outlines all the problems of food waste and how they can impact society, animals, nature, and even the farmers who harvest the produce. America and its businesses should try to decrease the amount of food being wasted. By doing so, not only are we a contributing factor to help reduce waste, save time and money, but we are also aiding the less–fortunate in a society, while still saving natural resources and the planet as a whole. There is enough food waste in America to fill up 730 football stadiums. Yet, ironically there were almost 50 million people who live in households that are food–insecure in 2013. Thus, it is critically important to help reduce (or at the very least reevaluate) the amount of food that is wasted so it can be used to help those who can't always afford it, or, help to reduce the impact of methane released by landfills, or, help to use less resources gone into making the produce. John Oliver starts out his presentation by emphasizing the obsession of food by America and the constant bombardment of food advertisement. Even making it as a part of American culture and the stereotypical representation of America. Commenting on statistics of how much produced food is then going on to landfills as waste.
