2. “
“When you say to someone “follow your heart”, it actually refers to
the rhetorical representation of various emotions, that are
precisely produced from neural activity of the limbic system. So,
the metaphoric heart we always boast about while giving advice to
our friends, is actually not anywhere near the biological organ
known as heart. Rather it too, like all other elements of the human
mind exists only in the brain.”

3. What Is the Limbic System?
▹ The Limbic System Consists of 3 Main parts:
▹ Hypothalamus
▹ Hippocampus
▹ Amygdala
▹ The limbic system is involved in processing
emotions, Memory, and even Motivation
2
4. Main Functions of The Limbic System
The Hypothalamus:
The Hypothalamus is
responsible for regulating body
temperature, Increasing ones
sex-drive, your thirst and
hunger, and emotional
response. In biology terms it
helps with Homeostasis which is
an important role that functions
in your body.
Amygdala
The Amygdala is responsible for for
more if the emotional aspect. It controls
things such as Anger and Fear, but also
things like happiness and sadness. This
function works closely with
Hippocampus as it puts more emotional
responses toward memories.
3
Hippocampus
The hippocampus is the main
function for Memory, For Example,
this function helps memorize many
road signs. The Hippocampus is
also responsible for your learning
because you don't learn anything if
you can't remember anything.
5. The limbic system lives up to the
saying “Fight or flight response” As the
limbic system is a key component of
your survival reflexes and responses.
This includes things such as
reproduction, and thirst and hunger.

6. What Injuries to TRY Your Best To Avoid…
The limbic system is something that helps
you function as a human being, it is the
pain structure to how you feel and act
and also how you remember. Damaging
functions in your limbic system can have
a very negative effect to your mental
ability. For example, Short term memory
loss, and even a disability.
Some Injuries you should try your
best to avoid is things such as:
- Concussions
- Blows to the head
- Chronic Stress
- Or anything that involves
inflicting pain in the head
because it can be very harmful.
5
7. Health Concerns and disorders Regarding the Limbic
System
6
Limbic
encephalitis and
Epilepsy
Dementia
PTSD
Depression
8. Visualize the Limbic System
They say that the Limbic system
kind of looks like a lizard It is more
located on the inside of the brain
and is surrounded by the lobes of
the brain.
7
9. The Features of the Functions
The Hippocampus is
very well known as
the “seahorse”
because of its key
features and shape.
The Amygdala Is
actually more almond
shaped and it is
located right next to
the hippocampus
The Hypothalamus is
more Coned shaped
and it is located right
under the Pituitary
Gland.

10. Facts vs. Myths
There have been many
different statements trying to
prove that the limbic system is
actually isn't “real”, Which of
course is absurd because
scientists and psychologists all
over the world have proven it
multiple times over the years
that it indeed exists.
The limbic system is the Amygdala is
actually considered one of the most
important parts out of all the others even
Hippocampus!!
The Hippocampus is also Greek for “Sea
Monster” Which is ironic because people
have said that it looks like a seahorse
