Features :
 Technology used was Vaccum Tube.
 Operating speed was in millisecond range.
 Machine language was used to instruct .
 Magnetic core memory was used as primary memory.
 Paper tape,punched card,magnetic tape were used as
secondary memory.

4. Second Generation of
Computer
Features :
 Technology used was Transistor.
 Operating speed was in microsecond range.
 Machine and assemble language was used to instruct .
 Magnetic core memory was used as primary memory.
 Magnetic drum and magnetic tape were used as secondary
memory.

5. Third Generation of Computer
Features :
 Technology used was IC(Integrated circuits).
 Operating speed was in nanosecond.
 High level language was used to instruct .
 Semi-Conductor was used as primary memory.
 It required air conditioning in many cases.

6. Fourth Generation of
Computer
Features :
 Technology use is microprocessor(VLSI and LSI).
 . Operating speed was in picosecond.
 Machine language and high level language is used to
instruct.
 Size reduced to Desktop,laptop,notebook.
 It used object oriented programming language(software
desing like C++,Java,etc).
