Manual Tracking and categorization of data:
• 1st year of TFA we had a contractor create and maintain the Research Database.
• Not effective at all. Costly, hard to update, not used after the fact.
Search for a solution:
• Next year spent 3 to 4 months searching for solutions and had a few companies provide demos and trials.
Results:
• Very complete but complex ones…. but too expensive ~ $200K+/year
• News services which are also expensive and have limited in scope and access.
• Wide collection of free and paid for tools that was way too cumbersome to manage and would require some
programming to integrate and use effectively.

Costly, hard to update, not used after the fact. Search for a solution: • Next year spent 3 to 4 months searching for solutions and had a few companies provide demos and trials. Results: • Very complete but complex ones…. but too expensive ~ $200K+/year • News services which are also expensive and have limited in scope and access. • Wide collection of free and paid for tools that was way too cumbersome to manage and would require some programming to integrate and use effectively.
