2.  Drugs that block the release of histamine by binding to the H₂
receptors are used in the treatment of peptic ulcer and gastric
disorders including heartburn,gastro esophageal reflux, gastric&
duodenal ulcers, Zollinger-Elison syndrome(hypersecretory disease)
 They are also called as H₂ blockers.
 Examples are Cimetidine, Ranitidine, Famotidine
H2 ANTAGONISTS

3. CIMETIDINE
 Uses: To treat Benign gastric ulcer
To treat duodenal ulcer
To treat Gastroesophageal reflux disorder and heart burn

4.  Uses: To treat duodenal ulcer associated with H.Pylori infection
To treat erosive esophagitis,gastric ulcer,heart burn,gastroesophageal
reflux disease.
RANITIDINE

5.  Uses: To treat gastric ulcer,duodenal ulcer,gastroesophageal reflux
disease,heart burn,esophagitis & Zollinger-Elison syndrome
FAMOTIDINE

6.  They are effective in the control and management of peptic ulcers.This
particular pharmacological activity is mainly inhibits gastric secretion
by histamine and gastrin.
 Drugs acts as competitive antagonists at the H₂ receptors blocks H₂ receptors in
parietal cells which suppresses basal and meal stimulated acid secretion in a dose
dependant manner.
