encountered prominently in chemical processing industries like oil and gas and power plants. The joint effect of erosion and corrosion is
significantly very much higher than that of the effects of erosion and corrosion when it acts separately. Thus erosion and corrosion have a synergetic

or nations that bind them to whatever they agreed upon. This compact makes sure that areas outside of the Great Lakes region do not have access to
the water. Despite this compact, some want to use the Great Lakes to pipe water to other states that do not have the same natural resources.
Proponents of this piping say that is gives water to areas that need it and that it will provide additional income to the area (Cauchon, 2006). Opponents
say that piping would go against water conservation and environmental protection as well as water management. They also say that it is a natural
resource that belongs to the area and should not be taken away to other areas of the country (Dempsey, 2008). Currently, the debate continues about the

Quicksand is a condition forms when saturated loose sand is suddenly agitated (loss its stress force). Thus, lose it strength as it cannot support its own
weight. In the laboratory, the sand was compressed when a load is applied on it and later the water fill in the gaps between the sand grains and as a
result, the sand becomes saturated and called "semiliquid state". Furthermore, effective stress is calculated by total stress and pore water pressure.

The ammonia cooling system supplies the heat exchangers with pressurized liquid ammonia. As the ammonia absorbs heat from the process chemical flowing through tubes in the center of the heat exchanger, the ammonia boils in the heat exchanger shell (Figure 2). A pressure controlvalve in the vapor return line maintains ammonia pressure at 150 psig in the heat exchanger. Ammonia vapor returns to the ammonia cooling system where it is pressurized and cooled, liquefying the ammonia.
