My Literacy Autobiography
2. Present Day
My parents always encourage and help me with my
education. They have always been a positive influence
on my education.
I am currently a Pre-K teacher in Fresh Meadows. I
love the working with the younger ones and teaching
them all the things they need to know.
I read to my students everyday and they love it. While I
read to them I always make sure to ask questions
about the story to make sure they understand.
After reading I usually have the students draw a
picture of their favorite part or favorite character.
3. Library Love
Growing up my mother would bring me to the library
every Saturday.
This was my favorite thing to do growing up.
We would go to the library and listen to the librarian
read a story and then we played games.
I would also get to take out a book each time we
went.
4. Passion for reading and writing
Growing up I always loved to write. My parents told me I
always had a journal and would write in it everyday.
I would also love writing letters to my parents or
grandparents.
I also loved reading growing up. My parents would read a
story to me every night before bed. When I started getting
older they would have me read to them.
When I was in second grade, I struggled with reading. My
teacher helped me before school two days a week. I loved my
second grade teacher because she showed me how much she
cared about me and helped me become a better reader.
I love learning new ideas that will help me in my classroom.
5. Where it Began
My parents always provided me with support in
school and sports.
They always taught me to value my education and try
my best.
My parents both graduated from high school but did
not attend college.
My dad worked from early morning to late at night to
help support the family and so that my mother was
able to stay at home with my brothers and I.
