The Four Life Stories
The four life stories I have chosen to reflect on are Santos, Raven, Chip, and Manuel. Santos
endured many hardships as a young boy, as he was raised in a farm in Mexico without an education.
He then came to the United States where he had many jobs, such a washing dishes and cutting wood
boards, but never a high pay job. Throughout his life, he lost a brother and his father. He then came
back to the farm to build a house out of adobe. Raven, from Dallas, loves music and this was the
main reason she came to Austin. She had around eight jobs in Austin over a three–year period and
she started to dislike Austin. She always had two jobs to support herself, but she was not liking it as
she had to deal with many customers and faced sexual harassment. ... Show more content on

As you can see from all four characters, they all have different dreams that are apart from the
American dream and this is where they all connect. First of all, they all want to be like other
Americans without struggles, but they all face their own problems leading to their dreams. Santos
dreams of attaining a better job to be financially stable, but it is very difficult for him because he has
no education and struggles talking the language of English. Raven dreams of being able to be
financially stable, without having to dance for gentlemen. Chip dreams to be healthy and financially
stable, but his body is not letting him. I believe Manuel's dream is really more than just a college
degree, a decent–paying job, or a driver's license, in which I think he wants to be able to defend
himself. All these four character are really not able to follow the American Dream. They all have
different dreams and would want to achieve the American Dream, but it is something else they really
want. Supposedly, the key ingredients to achieve the American Dream are hard work and
determination, but the truth is that it is much more complicated for different

Elaborate Place In Austin, Texas
) FAVORITE PLACE?
Be precise and descriptive i.e. city, state, country, region, colloquial place–name, etc.
Austin, Texas
2) WHY is this location your favorite place? Elaborate.
It's hard to describe this sensation I get whenever I'm in Austin, but it just feels like home. Austin
has this completely different vibe from Houston and it's more relax, and you see the weirdest things
in this city . Every time I visit I have a memorable experience, for example when I visiting for
SXSW. We went on 6th street and saw a group of drunk people having their time of their lives
dancing on the corner with tacos in each hand, while we were on our way to get Voodoo doughnuts.
I love the music, movie, art, food truck scene. Austin just feels right and I'm definitely ... Show more

While in Zilker Park in between Barton Springs Road and Lou Neff Road, there is a complete view

the top is located a huge tree that's probably creates some old form of shade. The park is known for
holding huge events like ACL, and the kite festival which is what most of images are of.

Describe Houston
When someone asks a Houstonian about the music scene around town, the answer is usually quite
bleak and a lot people don't really know much about it beyond Beyoncé and DJ Screw. It is
especially considered "nonexistent" in comparison to another Texas city, Austin. Austin has this
huge reputation of having a phenomenal music scene and it is even billed as "The Live Music
Capital of the World." Yes, Austin has great local bands and many avid music fans but so does
Houston. Even though it's not extremely noted, Houston has one of the most influential and diverse
music scenes in the country. If you asked people to describe Houston in one word, "Diverse" would

Houston is extremely well known for its many rap artists and producers like Bun B, Slim Thug, Paul
Wall, and, of course, DJ Screw. DJ Screw was the man who created the "chopped and screwed"
technique that is heavily used in hip–hop music to this day. Every year on June 27th, Houston
celebrates "Screw Day" because of his legendary freestyle called "June 27th (Caldwell 1). Screw
died almost 15 years ago and his legacy will live on forever in the hip–hop/rap industry and
especially in Houston. We've had some extremely influential rappers come out of Houston and
Drake, a non–Houstonian, reps Houston like it's his hometown. Even though a lot of people don't
like the fact that he honors Houston so much and puts on Houston Appreciation Weekend, he brings
so many people to Houston and the more people who come here, the more they get to discover how
Houston is a great music city. I work in retail and during Houston Appreciation Weekend, I met
people from New York City, Miami, and LA who just flew out here to see Drake. He uses his
notability to promote Houston artists and gives them a lot of love. Just recently, he had an exhibit on
Bun B and many important people in the city were at the event. Even though he's not from Houston,
he honors it really hard and has had a huge influence. While Houston is notable for the rap
community, there have been many other artists in different

neighborhoods, our workplaces, and especially our music scene (Rhodes 1). There are a wide variety
of genres being represented in Houston. Yes, Houston has the nickname "Screwston," but there are
also huge followings in other genres, like indie rock, alternative, jazz, classical, blues, metal, and
even Afro–Cuban. It's always interesting to receive a flyer for an up–and–coming alternative band

music for people to explore. Someone can literally find any genre or some new mix of genres in
Houston. If one wanted to see an experimental rock reggae band, I'm sure there is one performing
somewhere in Houston. As "hip" and prominent Austin's music scene is, Houston has a highly

James Clifton Williams: American Wind Band Music
James Clifton Williams was born on March 26, 1923 and died at the age of 53 on February 12, 1976.
He is a widely known and respected composer and conductor for American wind band music. In
addition, Williams was a Sinfonian who crossed at the Beta Omega chapter at Louisiana State
University. From his early years, Williams played the French Horn, Piano, and Mellophone and
went on to play at Little Rock High School and was voted most outstanding in artistry, talent, and
versatility his senior year. After graduating, he studied for one year at Louisiana Tech University
before joining the Army Air Corps (Eventually known as the United States Air Force) following the
Japanese attack on pearl harbor. During his time in the Air Force he composed many pieces for the

works for orchestra but eventually found more success with concert/wind band pieces. He won the
American Bandmasters Association's Ostwald Award for original band literature consecutive years
in 1956 and 1957 for his pieces Fanfare and Allegro and Symphonic Suite respectively. Shortly
afterwards, Williams composed what is probably his most iconic piece, The Sinfonians. The

Texas State Historical Association Case Study
History The Texas State Historical Association affirms that the city of Austin was established in
1839 as the Republic of Texas and was named after its founder Stephen F. Austin (Humphrey, 2010).
Head surveyor Edwin Waller was appointed to plan and construct Austin. Their intent was to have
the city ready by the time the Texas congress assembled in November 1839 so they built temporary
government buildings at temporary locations (Humphrey, 2010). By October government offices
opened, the first church was organized, and the Austin City Gazette, the city's first newspaper, made
its debut. In January of 1840, Waller was elected the town's first mayor. By that time, the city had

Drake Speeches
Standing eagerly like a ferocious animal/monster, my body is pressed to the barricade. In this
chaotic crowd, I depend on my friends for sanity. On my right Andrew is unnecessarily panting in
his usual melodramatic ways. On my left Remi is expressing her gratitude to me for waking up early
in the morning to get a spot in line. As we share a five dollar can of water, gasp for fresh air, and
create resting spots on one another, the anticipation heightens. Concerts are a mixed blessing. The
infinite wait brings on a sense of frustration and worry that is currently controlling my life. But in an
instant, my heart beats fiercely, my eyes start to water, I raise both arms in the air, and once Drake

Non Pharmacological Case Study
Music is Non–Pharmacological
The aching pained stabbed and pulsed through the body of a women waiting in line, desperate for
relief. As her turn came, she gratefully snatched her prescription from the Pharmacist, and although
her deep desire for the pill bottle created shameful uneasiness, she needed this bitter pill. As
common as addiction to prescription drugs occur, it would seem that the obvious route is non–
pharmacological which is defined as any therapy that does not include drugs. In the medical world,
holistic case studies are often burdened with narrowing down the broad term of a truly "non–
pharmacological" treatment or therapy. When people think of chronic pain or sedation, thoughts are
often oriented in a negative direction which may include quality of life due to addiction or side
effects. Moreover, the search for this "non–pharmacological" therapy is slowly researched due to the
many possible methods, like the overlooked treatment of music. ... Show more content on

In order to relieve patients, nurses are often required to administer risky sedation medication which
has equally disturbing side effects that include vomiting, hypotension, respiratory depression, and
much more. And yet, something as inexpensive as music has yet to be truly tested as a non–
pharmacological therapy for these situations. For the most part, music's healing power has the
ability to become a method of distraction and promote peace through reducing sympathetic nerve
control, which involves respiration rates, muscle tension, and gastric activity (Austin 2010). After
all, it seems to be promising in neutralizing the anxiety based symptoms associated with sedation or
ventilation which could lead to a breakthrough in holistic

that was going on. Choosing the Music Business course is an obvious decision, I yearn to be a

would be delighted to manage the type of artist that when they sing you feel the emotion that they
endured and trying to convey. My long–term goal is to develop a major record label that around the
world is notorious for its excellent artistry. However, before I do, I would love to obtain as much
knowledge as possible. Already I have some experience in the music business field. In 2011, I
graduated from Austin Community College with an AAS in Commercial Music Management.

how to obtain royalties and to guard them through organizations like BMI and ASCAP is also a vital

Mindfulness In School Essay
According to Malow and Austin (2016), mindfulness is a research–based intervention that has been
proven to reduce stress and anxiety in school–aged children. The article, "Mindfulness for Students
Classified with Emotional/Behavioral Disorder", looks into the idea of mindfulness and how
students with emotional and/or behavioral disorders can benefit from using it (Malow & Austin,
2016, p. 86). The authors focused on "whether the integration of mindfulness activities, taken from a
published, publically available mindfulness curriculum, could be successfully integrated into a
classroom setting by a certified teacher who was not formally trained in mindfulness" (Malow &
Austin, 2016, p. 85). The study occurred at a residential school that serves adolescent students with
emotional and behavioral needs. The six week study consisted of 15 students ages fifteen to

I found it interesting that one of the purposes of this study was to determine if training teachers is

within the classroom. As a certified teacher, I have not received any formal training on mindfulness
or mindfulness curriculum. However, after doing research on strategies and ways to implement
mindfulness, I was able to successfully implement strategies in my classroom.
I would be interested to find out how incorporating mindfulness in the classroom would decrease
behavioral outbursts during the day. I would use a different measure in addition to the self–report
such as time out of class, intensity scales, and/or frequency of behaviors before and after using

Seeing the need of variety the producer and director of Austin Peay's production carefully selected
their cast members. They created variations in voices by selecting a variety of altos, sopranos, and
tenors. Between the soloists throughout the show there was at least one soloist for every voice range.
Ariel, the main character was a soprano, Chuck and Willard, two supporting roles were tenors, while
rusty was an alto. Besides the soloist you could hear variation in the choral as well. The variation
performed in this show provided dynamics going from high to low, soft to loud, and much more.
One of the most popular songs within the show is called "Holding Out for a Hero" and it displayed
the cast various voices perfectly. Leading the song was Ariel and supporting her was Rusty, Wendy–
jo, and Urleen. As Ariel started the song soft and slow, she built her way up to a fast and loud tone.
Accenting Ariel's voice her supporting roles during this time entered in on the tone of an alto with a
tempo not too slow or fast, creating a harmony between the four of them. As the song continues each
cast member had a small solo where they added their own flavor to the song. Some soloist chose to
add belting, while some chose to hold their notes longer, or soften the moment with a soft tone. As if
the soloist were not able to share a great sound with the audience already, there was a portion in this
song for the choral to intensify the sound and expand the harmonies, which made this song one of

produced locally, and of the food imported an estimated 97 thousand tons enters the landfill. This
has a value of nearly $200 million. A great method for reducing food waste is composting, in the
region approximately 1,837 tons, or 1.9% of the total waste, is being turned back into the soil. This

Both movements in this sonata began with slow introduction played by cellist, and later
accompanied by the piano. The first movement, Andante, was first gentle and soft, giving me a

vivace. The sudden change in tempo, rhythm, and dynamic surprised me like a ringing alarm
suddenly wake me up from a sweet and placid dream, bringing me back to the cruel reality. The
second movement, Adagio, also started with a slow introduction but both performers played together
instead of just the cellist. As the second movement progressed the tempo became faster and the
melody became more playful and animated, along with unexpected pauses. The second movement
reminded me of the story of Alice in Wonderland. I could imagine a little girl experiencing a

The Dangers Of Distracted Driving
The majority of accidents involve drivers distracted by hand held or hands free cell phones. Cell
phone use while driving is dangerous because it increases car crashes, poses a higher risk of danger,

say distracted driving is less dangerous than it seems or that it's perfectly fine, however through
research and evidence this can not possibly be true "particularly texting, that seems to be a really
hazardous activity, much more dangerous than talking on the phone, raising to a level that exceeds
what we see with someone who is drunk driving, " (Austin 139,140). Cellphone use while driving is
dangerous because it increases car crashes, poses a higher risk of danger than any other distracted

My Experience In My Life
When I was five years old, my mom grabbed me away from a crowd of kids who were playing in a
sandbox and decided my future in the piano studio: "You will fall in love with it and it will make
you more elegant." I had no interest loving that huge, ponderous wooden box, but wanted to be
Snow White. That is how I fell into the trap of piano, and have been happily "stuck" ever since.
I believe success consists of 1 percent talent and 99 percent hard work. Possessing versatility can
bring me more than achievement in certain areas. It helps me release my pressure from living in
such a competitive society. Although there was a time I had struggled, once I gave up playing, I
have come to realize that my life is fuller and more rewarding when I am engaged in music. It
provided me with support and it helped me remain disciplined in other areas of my life.
I still remember my first piano lesson. The instructor was an amiable and patient lady. She
enlightened me by playing the "Happy Birthday" song, which was my favorite song at that age. I
kept watching her slender fingers dancing on the keys, and the sweet sound coming out of the piano
reminded me of my fifth birthday. It was an amazing memory. Thinking that it could be used for
celebrating my next birthday, I restrained myself from turning into one of Pavlov's dogs, salivating
all the way to my feet, and started learning the steps by heart.
By age 12, I had a change of heart about playing the piano, as I thought my priorities had

Minority Populations
Throughout Austin's history, minority populations were isolated through political acts such as "A
City Plan" in 1928, which wanted to make Austin "beautiful" so that involved removing minorities
from the area surrounding the capital. In addition, schools for minorities were restricted to just the
East side to force minority populations to move there. By the 1990's, Austin was branded with the
title "Live Music Capital of the World." This title gave rise to an economic and social boost to
Austin, but by doing so, it diluted the native culture into a hipster culture. In 1991, Austin was
awarded the title "Live Music Capital of the World" due to the fact it has the largest number of
music venues for population. According to Baker's article, Austin has 1 music venue for 4,125
people while the mainstream cities like New York City and Los Angeles has only 1 music venue per
29,600 people and 1 per 16,380 people respectively. Austin's primarily strength as a music capital

According to Titan Music Group's "The Austin Music Census Report," 66% of musicians were
Caucasian, 10.4% were Hispanic and 4.4% were African Americans. The total Austin population
consisted of 79.8% Caucasians, 31.9% Hispanics and 7.2% were African American. The census also
shows that the music industry is mostly men. These statistics are interesting because it shows that
the Austin music scene is dominated by white males and that minorities are underrepresented in
Austin. This is demonstrated by the demographics that show the African American community is
moving away from Austin. Blues music is known for being "black" music and that white people
tend not to play it as well. In the Austin music scene, blacks tend to feel that the scene is inauthentic
because whites are singing music representing black culture and the black musicians are a rarity

The Importance Of Freedom In America
Austin–a city renowned for its strives towards liberation–glimmers as a hub of cultural vibrancy in
Texas. This city excludes itself from the conservative frame of mind that is deeply embedded within
Texan culture, and its people celebrate the freedom to explore their human identity through self–
expression. The live music here charms listeners, drawing them out to bars, clubs, backyards,
garages, churches, and concert halls, filling the air with harmonies that comprise the spirit of Austin.

Furthermore, as Austin grows, gentrifiers are heavily displacing the local residents that have
contributed greatly to the Austin culture, particularly African–American and Hispanic residents on
the eastside. As the gentrification process rapidly changes Austin's demographic, the cultural climate
also changes, but incoming businesses are often seeking to commodify and profit from the culture of
the displaced, while new occupants are attempting to imitate it.
I was inspired to create this book while observing the changes in the East César Chavez area, which
clearly displays the effects of gentrification. I've come to understand that an impetuous influx of
commercial businesses and affluent newcomers are uprooting and displacing local residents by the
masses. I named this book For Sale: 787XX because the East César Chavez neighborhood resides in
the area code 78702, and the area seems to be attractive real estate for wealthier incomers. Yet, this
issue isn't unique to just this neighborhood but a great number of areas on the East side of Austin so
I decided to omit the last two numbers on in the area code to highlight these areas as well.
Many of these incoming occupants are Caucasian–or European–American, for the purposes of this
book–and this process of acquiring occupied territory strongly resembles imperialism. Although I
am not attempting to assert that this process is directly driven by racist ambitions, race and ethnicity

Imagine having the opportunity to build a house from the ground up. Completing everything from

have known Austin for roughly a year, I have never had the chance to know him personally.
The first thing that we discussed is about Austin's home & family life. Born on September 4th, 1999
at Latrobe hospital, Austin Chase is a 16 year old teen who is currently living in a Greensburg
apartment complex and has lived there for nine years. Although he has lived there for almost a
decade he does not enjoy how cramped the complexes are. He also dislikes how you must keep a

The Austin Opera did an outstanding performance of Bizet's "Carmen", on Thursday night, played at
The Long Center of the Performing Arts. Carmen is an Opera by French composer Georges Bizet,

romantic era, although he has other works Carmen is his most successful work and is frequently
performed in the world of operas.
I don't remember the last time I attended an opera but it was probably 10 years ago for a field trip in
elementary school. Attending the opera is something I see don't myself doing but I'm glad I had an
opportunity to go.
The opera was conducted by Richard Buckley who has worked with many operas all around the
Unites States and overseas. I've been to a couple of middle school and high school concerts where
there was a conductor and I've enjoyed watching the conductors move their hands in the air, it was
my favorite part. During the opera, I would get distracted by Buckley's movements, you could to tell
he was so concentrated in the music. I'm no music experts but from my point of view the orchestra
sounded wonderful and if there were any mistakes I wasn't able to hear them. The whole cast had
phenomenal voices but Carmen (Sandra Piques Eddy), Escamillo (Norman Garrett) and Micaëla
(Heather Phillips) had to be my top favorites of the night. Can you believe that there are people in

The Pros And Cons Of Gentrification
Rough Draft Gentrification is a type of modernization that causes the culture to be forgotten for new
ideas and experimental ways. Gone are the bustling downtown areas where culture thrives and a
place where people relax with music and food and income distinguished coffee shops and hangouts
that the younger generation is so interested in. Austin used to be a place where people can come to
enjoy the scenery and live next to the past, but because of gentrification, the culture is declining at a
rapid pace due to the vast increase of affordable housing, interstate splits, and a more modern
setting. This all started with the rise of "Affordable housing", where a local nonprofit buys a piece of
land and build a house for the needy in it. Now that might sound like a great idea for those who are
faced with rising house prices in the downtown area, but it is just what those builders want. To push

the movement of "hipster" will be phased out and a new trend will come in and take over so either
way, a spread of different ideas is better than a concentrated area. Also with this method, people can
choose their favorite section and not waste time going across downtown to get to their other

Write An Essay About Marfan's Life
Success is the achievement of a goal, it is something that we gain through hard work, something
that, hopefully, once we achieve it, we continue to aim higher. It's a happy outcome, it's finishing
college, it can even be getting the dishes done despite pain. For Austin Carlile it's performing for
fans, sharing the music he created, despite being in pain and having to suffer in his life. That brings
me to my thesis which is: success is attainable, no matter the struggle.
When Austin was 17 years old, his mother passed after her heart surgery, she was unaware of her
disease, Marfan's Syndrome. Carlile was examined for the disease after her death and then
diagnosed. He then had an aortic surgery to avert what happened to his mother. He has had three
spinal tears, which were leaking spinal fluid. He also sustained two cysts on the back of his spine,
which luckily, were not cancerous. At the end of 2016, Austin had to leave his band, Of Mice &
Men, due to Marfan's Syndrome. His doctors told him that if he continued his position as lead
vocalist/screamer it would leave him with permanent damage done to his body. He was recently
awarded the Heart of the Matter Award due to his voicing of Marfan Syndrome, to get others help

Figurative Language In To Kill A Mockingbird
Procrastination is the worst of all evils. One has a certain mindset, a goal to complete, but will
perform actions that suggest quite the opposite. This backward thinking is apparent in even the most
impeccable of individuals, and often prevails to prove the irony of human thought. Such inverted
ideology is the latent message of Bridget Sprouls' poem "Scout." Through the extended metaphor of
a Scout, the changing, eager tone, and the quaint yet urban setting of Austin, Texas, Sprouls
demonstrates the conflict caused by maintaining a natural life that is separate from societal
influences and the reliance of humanity on the aspects of society that constrain one from
experiencing liberation into a native lifestyle. The figurative languages proves ... Show more content

Scout's appreciation for nature reveals itself early in the poem. The fact that she "overwatered the
garden" (line 4) suggests her gratitude for nature's beauty, and her quest is already one that is a
search for connection with the world. Furthermore, her recognition of the destruction of pollution
can be seen when she sets "out on foot" (4) rather than using that of a conventional car. Her attempts
to liberate from society are clear, yet soon to be revealed as unachievable. Before she is even in
Austin, her reliance on society is prevalent. She is forced to use an airplane to travel to her end
destination, even noting that "The flutter of engines enchanted" (7) her. This enchantment can only
be described as, like an airplane, uplifting; society's achievements are what allow her to reach the
place she is to scout out. Once she arrives in Austin, she cannot convert to a natural life; she is
forced to rely on society to survive: "Out of cash,/bartering" her "eyelashes" (9–10). She must
succumb to the life of a prostitute, the complete antithesis of a nature–based lifestyle, in order to
make enough money to continue using societies products. Additionally, she cannot scout her new
territory, taking it in for all its beauty, because she

Black Culture In 'Rhythm And Blues'
1. Echols makes it apparent early on in the reading that Janis spent her life feeling alone,
unaccepted, and unloved. Even as a young child, she always felt she didn't belong. She always tried

life searching for that which would make her feel "normal." She acted tough, abrasive, rebellious
and over–confident, but many really didn't know how vulnerable and insecure she really was. More
importantly, Echols explains the counterculture in the 60s and how it related to "Rock 'n' Roll" with
both gender and race. It touches on the issue of the black culture at that time, where "Rhythm and

The Music Of The Digital Age
In today's digital age, the record industry is booming and in 2014 alone recorded music generated
almost 15 billion dollars, ("Global Recorded Music Sales Totalled US $15 billion in 2014.") and
now, more than ever is the best time to capitalize on it. Due to the increased value of music and
money that is being brought in from such artists as Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and Kanye West
music is becoming a money making game. There are many start up indie labels that are capitalizing
on local music scenes all around the world. By doing this they earn money, as well as promoting
originality and exposing music that should be heard by the masses. Because the DIY music scene is

Cuisine
The cuisine of Madagascar is a delectable fusion of Southeast Asian and African cultures. The staple
crop of Madagascar is rice, and it is generally eaten with some kind of meat (Bradt and Austin 105).
For taste, it is common mix rice with herbs and leaves, however, there are a multitude of other ways
to add flavor to the rice. One way is to add Zebu, a type of local beef that is commonly eaten with

Tenor Saxophone
With the final note of the song I was proud of how good I had played my first unplanned solo. I set
my Tenor Saxophone to the side and listened to the 5th Grade cheer at the beautiful music that had
been played for them. That's what I would be saying if everything had gone to plan, but instead "me,
myself, and I" had decided to make everything go down the drain for my first unplanned solo in
band. This story has no real resolution for the teary eyed 6th grade me sitting in her section holding
her instrument shamefully.
It all began on a not–so warm afternoon in March. After leaving one of my favorite classes, Science
and I rushed to 5th hour Band class to put my Tenor Sax together. I heard the talk of who was better
at one subject or better at playing their saxophone (and the normal ear–piercing playing) of Alto Sax
players in the band storage room. Rolling my eyes a little and giving a small laugh to the small (yet
loud) talk, I headed to my seat in between two other Tenor Sax players named Brogan and Austin.
Our band director, Mr. Zielinski walked into the band room, giving the usual instructions about
being quiet and smiled.
"Class! Class please be quiet," Mr. Zielinski said with a slightly stern tone as he got on the podium,
"I have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brogan hadn't shown up to school again and Austin wasn't allowed to play the sectional music. I was
getting very nervous, but seeing my old 5th grade teachers had given me a small boost of confidence
and so I dismissed my nervousness and carried on with my day. Then the concert came along,
everyone was running around trying to put their instrument together while also not trying to injure
the people next to them. I finally got my Tenor together and jogged to the stage. We waited for Mr.
Zielinski to finish talking about 6th grade band and for him to tell us to

The Four Life Stories

  • 1. The Four Life Stories The four life stories I have chosen to reflect on are Santos, Raven, Chip, and Manuel. Santos endured many hardships as a young boy, as he was raised in a farm in Mexico without an education. He then came to the United States where he had many jobs, such a washing dishes and cutting wood boards, but never a high pay job. Throughout his life, he lost a brother and his father. He then came back to the farm to build a house out of adobe. Raven, from Dallas, loves music and this was the main reason she came to Austin. She had around eight jobs in Austin over a three–year period and she started to dislike Austin. She always had two jobs to support herself, but she was not liking it as she had to deal with many customers and faced sexual harassment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As you can see from all four characters, they all have different dreams that are apart from the American dream and this is where they all connect. First of all, they all want to be like other Americans without struggles, but they all face their own problems leading to their dreams. Santos dreams of attaining a better job to be financially stable, but it is very difficult for him because he has no education and struggles talking the language of English. Raven dreams of being able to be financially stable, without having to dance for gentlemen. Chip dreams to be healthy and financially stable, but his body is not letting him. I believe Manuel's dream is really more than just a college degree, a decent–paying job, or a driver's license, in which I think he wants to be able to defend himself. All these four character are really not able to follow the American Dream. They all have different dreams and would want to achieve the American Dream, but it is something else they really want. Supposedly, the key ingredients to achieve the American Dream are hard work and determination, but the truth is that it is much more complicated for different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Be precise and descriptive i.e. city, state, country, region, colloquial place–name, etc. Austin, Texas 2) WHY is this location your favorite place? Elaborate. It's hard to describe this sensation I get whenever I'm in Austin, but it just feels like home. Austin has this completely different vibe from Houston and it's more relax, and you see the weirdest things in this city . Every time I visit I have a memorable experience, for example when I visiting for SXSW. We went on 6th street and saw a group of drunk people having their time of their lives dancing on the corner with tacos in each hand, while we were on our way to get Voodoo doughnuts. Make sure the "Photos" layer is checked – click on the photos and explore area for clues into a "sense of place" – what's it like there? While in Zilker Park in between Barton Springs Road and Lou Neff Road, there is a complete view of the skyline of downtown. The park is pretty much leveled except for this small steep hill, and at the top is located a huge tree that's probably creates some old form of shade. The park is known for holding huge events like ACL, and the kite festival which is what most of images are of. 8) TERRAIN Describe the TERRAIN (physiography, landscape, topography, etc.). Most of the trees are located mostly around the perimeter, beside one located on top of a hill and a couple others around these huge rocks. Its mostly a huge field of grass, and trees like most parks.

Even though a lot of people don't like the fact that he honors Houston so much and puts on Houston Appreciation Weekend, he brings so many people to Houston and the more people who come here, the more they get to discover how Houston is a great music city. I work in retail and during Houston Appreciation Weekend, I met people from New York City, Miami, and LA who just flew out here to see Drake. He uses his notability to promote Houston artists and gives them a lot of love. Just recently, he had an exhibit on Bun B and many important people in the city were at the event. By October government offices opened, the first church was organized, and the Austin City Gazette, the city's first newspaper, made its debut. Seeing the need of variety the producer and director of Austin Peay's production carefully selected their cast members. They created variations in voices by selecting a variety of altos, sopranos, and tenors. Between the soloists throughout the show there was at least one soloist for every voice range. Ariel, the main character was a soprano, Chuck and Willard, two supporting roles were tenors, while rusty was an alto. Besides the soloist you could hear variation in the choral as well. The variation performed in this show provided dynamics going from high to low, soft to loud, and much more. One of the most popular songs within the show is called "Holding Out for a Hero" and it displayed the cast various voices perfectly. Leading the song was Ariel and supporting her was Rusty, Wendy– jo, and Urleen. As Ariel started the song soft and slow, she built her way up to a fast and loud tone. Accenting Ariel's voice her supporting roles during this time entered in on the tone of an alto with a tempo not too slow or fast, creating a harmony between the four of them. As the song continues each cast member had a small solo where they added their own flavor to the song. Some soloist chose to add belting, while some chose to hold their notes longer, or soften the moment with a soft tone. As if the soloist were not able to share a great sound with the audience already, there was a portion in this song for the choral to intensify the sound and expand the harmonies, which made this song one of the best highlights of the ... My Experience In My Life When I was five years old, my mom grabbed me away from a crowd of kids who were playing in a sandbox and decided my future in the piano studio: "You will fall in love with it and it will make you more elegant." I had no interest loving that huge, ponderous wooden box, but wanted to be Snow White. That is how I fell into the trap of piano, and have been happily "stuck" ever since. I believe success consists of 1 percent talent and 99 percent hard work. Possessing versatility can bring me more than achievement in certain areas. It helps me release my pressure from living in such a competitive society. Although there was a time I had struggled, once I gave up playing, I have come to realize that my life is fuller and more rewarding when I am engaged in music. It provided me with support and it helped me remain disciplined in other areas of my life. I still remember my first piano lesson. The instructor was an amiable and patient lady. She enlightened me by playing the "Happy Birthday" song, which was my favorite song at that age. I kept watching her slender fingers dancing on the keys, and the sweet sound coming out of the piano reminded me of my fifth birthday. It was an amazing memory. Thinking that it could be used for celebrating my next birthday, I restrained myself from turning into one of Pavlov's dogs, salivating all the way to my feet, and started learning the steps by heart. Minority Populations Throughout Austin's history, minority populations were isolated through political acts such as "A City Plan" in 1928, which wanted to make Austin "beautiful" so that involved removing minorities from the area surrounding the capital. By the 1990's, Austin was branded with the title "Live Music Capital of the World." This title gave rise to an economic and social boost to Austin, but by doing so, it diluted the native culture into a hipster culture. In 1991, Austin was awarded the title "Live Music Capital of the World" due to the fact it has the largest number of music venues for population. • 61. Black Culture In 'Rhythm And Blues' 1. Echols makes it apparent early on in the reading that Janis spent her life feeling alone, unaccepted, and unloved. Even as a young child, she always felt she didn't belong. She always tried to live up to her parent's (and others) expectations because she wanted their approval. She spent her life searching for that which would make her feel "normal." She acted tough, abrasive, rebellious and over–confident, but many really didn't know how vulnerable and insecure she really was. More importantly, Echols explains the counterculture in the 60s and how it related to "Rock 'n' Roll" with both gender and race. It touches on the issue of the black culture at that time, where "Rhythm and Blues" was predominately considered to be that of black ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festival offers more than 800 sessions on technology, music, design and new media. While it may be popular due to the after hours parties and Austin nightlife, make sure you do not overdo it. SXSW can be an exhilarating experience if you are ready for it. Find a Volunteer for Help Although it sounds like an easy enough concept, lining up is not as simple as it appears. People create snaking lines that queue around corners, stairways and corridors. Instead of wasting your time waiting out of line, ask a volunteer where the line ends. Prepare for Battle A general does not just send out the troops. Before they go to battle, they lay out careful plans. Treat your SXSW trip like a battle by planning in advance. Arrange for a hotel or Airbnb stay early, so you know where you are going to spend the night. If you are attending with a group, prearrange where you will meet up and at a what time. Due to the increased value of music and money that is being brought in from such artists as Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and Kanye West music is becoming a money making game. There are many start up indie labels that are capitalizing on local music scenes all around the world. By doing this they earn money, as well as promoting originality and exposing music that should be heard by the masses. Because the DIY music scene is booming, with places such as Brooklyn, LA, Philly and Austin all on the rise, now is a great time to promote, record and expose tomorrow 's future stars. For me and my label, Basement Tapes Records, I am going to create a record label that is different than the rest. I will only sign and promote unknown artists who have the potential to be great. I plan keeping everything "in–house" that includes, production, promotion, revenue, and having producers that only work for my label. By doing all of these things I feel as though I can build Basement Tapes Records, to be a successful, money making, label. Originality and the ability to be different are crucial in today's music world. By being different I am more likely to attract more attention from people, other labels and most importantly, potential acts. Music ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Record producers, sound recording studios, music publishers, instrument makers and sellers, and radio stations all are crucial to the operation of the music industry as a whole. Chicago, along with other cities in the U.S and other countries across the globe, all concur with this statement. Chicago is considered a Great Music City but it has not carved out a niche market such as Nashville or New Orleans has done. There is no equivalent to Beale Street or the French Quarter in Chicago and there is no city–level policy in place to encourage or drive the creation of music districts in the city. Lastly, Chicago has not established itself as a music trade show hub in the way that Austin has done with its highly successful South by Southwest Conference/Festival. I set my Tenor Saxophone to the side and listened to the 5th Grade cheer at the beautiful music that had been played for them. That's what I would be saying if everything had gone to plan, but instead "me, myself, and I" had decided to make everything go down the drain for my first unplanned solo in band. This story has no real resolution for the teary eyed 6th grade me sitting in her section holding her instrument shamefully. It all began on a not–so warm afternoon in March. After leaving one of my favorite classes, Science and I rushed to 5th hour Band class to put my Tenor Sax together. I heard the talk of who was better at one subject or better at playing their saxophone (and the normal ear–piercing playing) of Alto Sax players in the band storage room. Rolling my eyes a little and giving a small laugh to the small (yet loud) talk, I headed to my seat in between two other Tenor Sax players named Brogan and Austin. Our band director, Mr. Zielinski walked into the band room, giving the usual instructions about being quiet and smiled. "Class! Class please be quiet," Mr. Zielinski said with a slightly stern tone as he got on the podium, "I have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
