Nf1 Unit 1 Reflection
As part of a restructure in a one form entry primary school, I was appointed the position of being part of
the School Improvement Team and Special Educational Needs Co–ordinator (SENCO). The SENCO role
was previously overseen by the Headteacher whom I work closely with in relation to both of the positions I
hold. As well as having these responsibilities within the school, I am a full–time class teacher in Year 2.
In this study, I will focus on a Year 2 child who I teach. He has a genetic condition called
Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). Certain health implications are often associated with NF1 such as
learning difficulties, and the severity of the condition can vary considerably from person to person. The
child has a school focused plan (SFP) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Giangreco, Doyle and Suter (2013) encourage that teachers and TAs should train together so their expertise
in raising pupil achievements are recognised and developed, something that is similarly encouraged in the
Standards for Teaching Assistants (DfE, 2015). In practice, the TAs at the school are given opportunities to
extend their professional development and often receive training along–side the specific subject leader that
the intervention falls under which in hand could promote greater understanding and clarity of roles and
responsibilities. For example, the Wave 3 writing and reading intervention training was delivered to the TA
and the English subject leader, hence the TA reporting that her own learning and professional development
has contributed to her sense of empowerment and professional self–worth, which in hand is why she feels
confident enough to plan and alter the intervention, based on the discussions with myself as the class
teacher. However, this strategy may not be embedded within all primary schools, which in turn may
disempower some members of staff who may be new to the role or less confident with delivering
interventions without the sufficient

The World Trade Organization ( Wto ) Agreements
The World Trade Organization (WTO) deals with the global rules of trade between nations. It is mainly
responsible for ensuring that the trade flows smoothly, predictably and freely. The principal objective of
WTO is upliftment of the standard of living internationally; it does activities surrounding the same.
When Ministers had adopted the Marrakesh Agreement they had also decided to include a specific
reference to Non–Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Article V: 2. The General Council additionally
clarified the framework for relations with NGOs by adopting a set of guidelines (WT/L/162) which
"recognizes the role NGOs can play to increase the awareness of the public in respect of WTO activities".
These guidelines are instrumental for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
NGOs had to demonstrate that their activities were "concerned with matters related to those of the WTO".
Symposia
Since 1996, a number of symposia have been arranged by the Secretariat for NGOs on particular issues of
interest to civil society, namely, three on trade and the environment, one on trade and development and one
on trade facilitation. These symposia have provided, on a relaxed basis, the opening for NGOs to discuss
certain specific issues with representatives of WTO Member countries.
Day–to–day Contact
The WTO Secretariat receives a huge number of requests per day from NGOs, from all over the world and
Secretariat staff meets with NGOs on a habitual basis – both individually and as a part of NGO organized
events.
The annual report of the World Trade Organization corroborates the growing official relationship between
civil society and trade. Tucked away in a silent corner of the report is the reason that the number of NGOs
attending the WTO ministerial increased many times over, from 108 at the Singapore ministerial in 1996 to
811 in the Hong Kong ministerial, nine years later.
The growth that occurred in the Seattle ministerial can be attributed to the mobilization of NGOs that were
in fact against the WTO. Indeed, at several points in that ministerial, including its abandoned inauguration,
official NGO delegates attempted to disrupt proceedings.
The role of NGO's in the panel proceedings has been recognized recently but their potential on how

Phase Four: Generating Possible Interventions
Phase Four: Generating possible interventions
Intervention: A force that attempts to modify some outcome.
 Actions or activities that, when put together in a systematic manner, make up a plan to achieve a goal.
 When designing an intervention, the starting point should be the problems that were identified in the
diagnosis.
 Objectives for the intervention must be based on the diagnosis and on the contract agreed with the client.
They should clearly relate to the needs of the client and goals of the project.
The consultant did not specify interventions in this scenario, with the exception of staff in–service
meetings.

For staff, this there may be an adjustment period as information collected may reflect negatively on the
staff or may contradict staffs own belief about the difficult situations of communicating with patient
families. Therefore, the consultant may need to find a balance between sensitivity and directness when
presenting data. The advantage of in–service meetings is the consultant will be able to observe
characteristics of staff, such as cultural and language differences, and verbal perceptions of death. Also,
preparing the staff to acknowledge and overcome workplace resistance by team–building activities that
recognize how people deal with change may be beneficial in this scenario (Mitchell et al.,2012). Team–
based care and activities related to teams help ensure synergy, efficiency, and connections between team–
based care in interprofessional education, workforce development, health informatics, and care
coordination (Mitchell et al.,2012). Another objective would be to stimulate development of problem–
solving skills as regards to resolution of dilemmas that are presenting in the medical

Running head: A FUTURE TREND IN CRISIS INTERVENTION A Future Trend in Crisis Intervention

States continues to climb the need for human services professionals does the same. Human service
agencies are often face the dilemmas of being over–worked and under paid. Professionals in this field are
often prone to burnout because of these dilemmas. Sadly, human service agencies are often the first to

This natural ability paired with his or her training will make them competent to handle crisis. Incidentally,
there will also be those who pursue the human service paraprofessional career field for the wrong reasons
and they will not be able to be affective while assisting those in crisis. These individuals could potentially
cause more harm than good for the client or clients in crisis. This especially applies in the case of suicide.
The following quote supports this idea. Suicide does not generally come without warning. Almost always,
persons considering it show symptoms or provide clues to their intent. It is important, however, for crisis
workers to know how to read these and be able to distinguish between myth and reality. (Kanel, 2003, p.
76) Trend Challenges Ineffective workers exist in every career field. The difference may be that with a
paraprofessional opportunity people may view it as a "quick–fix" for a good job. These types of workers
are hard to identify until he or she begins working directly with clients. At this point it may be hard or even
impossible to identify and intervene on possible ineffective approaches used by the paraprofessional.
During crisis, there will likely not be a second chance at proper intervention. Paraprofessionals will likely
have direct supervision from professional clinicians. This will help ensure the quality of services being
rendered as well as a reference point for the paraprofessional to

United States Role In Global Interventions
As the United States intervened within global involvements, it has been effective. During its early years,
around the 19th century, the country's isolation have prevented it from having more foreign affairs, and it
has given opportunities for it to expand its technological advances.
After World War II, the foreign affairs have improved. The countries have worked alongside each other to
create an appropriate foreign policy, some included, "maintaining a balance of power among nations" and
"working with allies to solve international problems." With this, it allowed connections and more allows to
regroup and work together to solve political problems against other countries. As the United States isolated

Analysis Of Juvenile Justice Programs
Introduction
Juvenile crimes in North Carolina are at an eight year high. Instead of funding more detention facilities
across North Carolina, the state should provide the funding for implementing effective treatments and
programs to offer a chance of rehabilitation. Juveniles are faced with lockdown facilities that suppresses
cognitive growth and development. Currently, instead of funding being used for treatment and
programming, it is being set aside to build new facilities which will produce the same recidivism rate.

The Juvenile Justice Systems throughout America has had difficulty determining the fine line between

"Much is known about effective prevention programs from research and practice and the question of how
to optimize such programs for cost–effective impact on juvenile behavior is worthy of careful
consideration"("Improving The Effectiveness Of Juvenile Justice Programs").
Not only is it beneficial for society to recognize behaviors which could lead to juvenile behavior but for
society to realize how to treat and improve those behaviors. The school systems in which adolescents grow
up have a major influence on the outcome of our children. If principles, teachers, and teacher assistants
were trained on not only how to detect alarming behaviors, but how to mold and shape it for positive
reinforcement in the classroom, it would change the outcome of the type of young teenager they develop
into. The earlier this type of alarming behavior can be detected the higher chance of preventing it from
spiraling out of control. Some effective programs found on youth.gov are: bullying prevention programs,
after school recreation programs, comprehensive community interventions, social competence promotion
curriculums, and conflict resolution and violence prevention programs. It is also effective for teachers to
watch and be aware of warning signs children are showing of abuse of neglect at home. The majority of
adolescents arrested are victims of abuse and neglect.

Schizophrenia: The Impact on Families
Families with a member suffering from any illness may be stressful enough but families with members
diagnosed with schizophrenia are often faced with additional challenges such as the "external stressors of
social stigma, isolation, and emotional frustration". Many times, family conflicts arise as members attempt
to provide care on an everyday basis (Chien, 2010, pg. xi). "A Beautiful Mind" is a brilliant motion picture
directed by Ron Howard that chronicles the life of one John Nash, a prominent mathematician and the
challenges he endures throughout his adult life afflicted with a chronic mental illness. "A Beautiful Mind"
allows us to gain insight into the stressors that many families undergo when faced with living with a person

In response to changes in John's behavior due to his medications, one scene clearly depicts non–verbal
"criticism and hostility" by Alica after her attempt to be intimate with her husband. "High expressed
emotions" such as criticism and hostility are often how primary caregivers express themselves, which
further increase psychological stress upon the entire family (Chien, 2010, p. 4). With the progression of the
disease, the social and physical impact on the Nash family becomes even more evident. The contrast
demonstrated between their homes prior to John's diagnosis and after, represent the fall in socioeconomic
status of the family. Non–compliance on John's behalf towards his treatment exacerbated because of the
impact the medications had on the relationship with his wife. John clearly states his inability to "take care
of the baby," and "to respond to his wife" led to make the decision to stop taking his medications. His
decision however leads him to causing potential physical harm to his baby, and also to his wife because of
the influence of his visual, and auditory hallucinations. Throughout the progression of John's disease, the
impact on the family is evident clearly indicating the need for family intervention (Chien, 2010).

Assessment And End At The After Care Component
Abstract This proposal of a standardized but flexible treatment plan can be used in all aspects of the
treatment facility. The plan will include the client's input but will also include the counselor's best
judgement for treatment. This proposal will show the start of the assessment and end at the after–care
component.
Treatment Plan Proposal
Basics of Proposed Plan:
Assessment:
Each client who decides to seek treatment will first undergo a thorough assessment. This assessment will
include use of two or more self–reporting tools. These tools may include the DAST–10, AUDIT, Kessler 6
&10, and C–SSRS (Columbia–Suicide Severity Rating Scale) (SAMHSA, 2011, para 3–4). These scores
will be used in conjunction with the "DSM–5 section III emerging measures" (SAMHSA, 2011, para. 2). A
proper assessment is needed to determine the severity of substance abuse and the mental state of the client.
If needed, the client will be further evaluated for the need of psychiatric medications to stabilize any
potential mental illness concerns such as depression, anxiety, or schizophrenia.
As a matter, of course, detox on an in–patient basis may be required before treatment can be implemented.
Observation and intervention by the medical team will be utilized to detect and treat any medical concerns
such as seizures, thyroid dysfunction, or medical dysfunctions during the detox phase.

The United States Military Intervention Essay
Today, people, including many I respect, are asking, "Vince, why haven 't you called for action in Aleppo?"
My question is the same as it 's always been: What, exactly, do leftists want to do in Syria? Do they want a
"No–Fly Zone?" If so, do they understand that such an action is considered an Act of War? Are people
willing to deal with those consequences?
Do leftwing activists want the U.S. to increase its military presence in Syria? Do they want the U.S. to
keep arming so–called "rebel forces?" Are leftists actually calling for further military intervention in Syria?
Am I processing this correctly?
Already, over 12 nations have bombed Syria, with horrific results. Are we asking for more bombs, but from
different planes? What principles are activists operating under?
Remember, the U.S. military, like all military forces in the world, is a force for death and destruction – that
's it. The U.S. military is incapable of "saving people." The point of the U.S. military is to destroy and kill.
Yet, I keep getting emails from people saying, "We have to do something!" Yes, let 's do something. Let 's
build political movements that can actually oppose the U.S. Empire. Let 's cut the U.S. military budget by
90% – and that 's just the beginning. Let 's stop selling arms to everyone on the planet. Let 's stop
supporting brutal regimes. Let 's stop the drone strikes and the special forces operations in Africa and
elsewhere. Let 's end the war in Afghanistan. Let 's get out of

State Intervention and the Economy Essay
It is widely believed by scholars that many of the varying levels of economic development between states
are the direct result of a negative correlation between the aforementioned and the varying degrees of state
intervention. In most cases it is evident that the more a state intervenes in its economy, the less the country
will develop. While, at the same time, a country whose intervention exists at a minimal level will tend to
have a stronger economy and a more rapid rate of development. However, it is also important to understand
that as with many concepts there will always be extreme cases where the states may not strictly follow this
model; in some cases they may even behave completely opposite. These extreme cases are often due to ...

However, an advocate for government failure would argue that were this to occur the market would be
worse off due to the fact that bureaucrats often pursue their best interests which may not necessarily
coincide with those of the public. In support of this belief it can be argued that since bureaucratic agents
are not elected officials they are able to implement various policies without fear of any negative
consequences such as not winning a reelection. As can be inferred from the concepts of market and
government failure; government intervention is not necessarily always a bad thing. In fact, sometimes it
can lead to the advancement of a nation. Governments whose bureaucracies act in such a way can also be
referenced as "developmental states"; which means that although the government is interfering with the
economy, the bureaucracy is focusing on the long–term interest of the country versus the personal gain of a
select few in the short–term. Amsden writes about this concept in his article, Getting Relative Prices
"Wrong": A Summary, by bringing up the idea that, "...it promises industrial expansion if the state is strong
enough merely to provide enough political stability for a long term investments, to point prices in the right
direction, and then to exit" (Amsden 147). Amsden argues that governments such as Korea, although not

Government Intervention In Social Issues In The United States
Unlike many modernized countries, the United States is in a perpetual debate regarding the need for

government should be less intrusive ("small government"). It is hard to think of life prior to social security,

Observation And Judvation: Having A Difficult Time At Work
A year and a half ago I noticed that a staff member was having a difficult time at work. It appeared that she
was overwhelmed and over rot in the office. On several occasions she was in tears in the office and it had

Everyone has a "bad day" at work from time to time but this appeared to be much more than just a bad day.
If I were to break it down into steps according to the ORJI cycle. This is how it appeared to me now.
Observation. I observed that a staff member was crying in the office and difficult to approach. I suspected
it was because finals were approaching and we have very tight time lines for completion and submission of
final grades. I concluded this must be the cause of the staff member's duress.

Intervention. I made arrangements to have a one on one discussion with the staff member a few days after
grades were finalized. During my sit down with the staff member no sooner had I begun but she became
very emotional. At first she cried I assumed that she was embarrassed because of having broken down in
the office and again in front of me. However as we progressed she became quite defensive and shortly
thereafter she refused to speak all together. What had I done?
I was so totally at a loss as to what I had done I quite literally just sat there for a few minutes just staring at
the staff member.
I could see now that I must have been incorrect in my assumptions as to what the problem was. It was
obvious that I had done real damage with my interaction. At this point I thought I could still somehow

Evaluation Of The Braden Scale Screening Tool Essay
Educational Needs Patient and Family It is important that patient and family are on the same page with
staff are fully aware of the risks of HAPUs and what they can watch for and do to prevent them from
acquiring them. The Braden Scale is simple enough that it can be used as is, or modified to help the patient
and family best understand what signs and symptoms to be aware of, as well as the risk factors that may be
modifiable or addressed early, in order to minimize them as quickly as possible. Staff. The acute care staff
will require in–service training and evaluation before they implement the Braden Scale screening tool. It is
important that the staff is able to properly identify and understand all of the criteria covered by the Braden
Scale. By giving demonstrations and then allowing the staff to teach–back and then demonstrate the use of
the Braden Scale screening tool, they will be able to have a greater success rate in properly assessing
patients who have a higher risk of acquiring HAPUs and will be able to intervene in a timely manner
before any irreversible damage is done.
Continuous Quality Improvement The issue of quality improvement should be addressed with a multi–
faceted approach. Once implemented, continuous oversight and monitoring must be conducted by an
experienced staff member/case manager who can verify data in the EHR, as well as conduct a daily Braden

perspective. Categories from both researchers were compared and merged. Also, these categories were
verified against the survey and participant observation data. Similar to findings of the interview analysis,
survey participants acknowledged benefits of integrated therapies. Also, survey findings showed the
teachers' sense of control and availability of support influenced implementation of integrated therapies in
classrooms. The importance of teachers' sense of control is evident in one participant's response, "...use of

Teacher's perception of the cost and benefit ratio was crucial in considering the intervention as beneficial.
Her responses, "But I think overall, the interventions help rather than letting the kid sit in the classroom
and not have anything to make things better" (34–36), and "it is better than them standing and running
around the room. It is less of a distraction" (248), reflect the teacher's comparison between the cost and
benefits of interventions. She identified "getting their energy out", "calm them", task completion, and
cooperative behaviors as some of the benefits of interventions. In contrast, classroom disruptions and off–
task behaviors were identified as the cost of the intervention.
Similarly, the teacher's sense of control influenced her perspective of the intervention. Her sense of control
depended on the ability to negotiate classroom demands which were influenced by her personal context,
the support she received, and dynamics of the classroom structure. Her personal context included her
experience, knowledge of interventions, and a repertoire of strategies. Teacher's perception of support
included the availability of time, finances, a variety of available interventions, and classroom aides. The
availability of support helped the teacher negotiate classroom demands and fostered her sense of control.

English language learners tend to fall behind their peers due to the inability to read or understand the
language. There are various students who identify themselves as English learners and almost 10% of public

It is important to not provide additional verbal instruction between the staircase steps because the students
are English learners who may not understand the various vocabulary words used while giving the extra
instructions. If more explanation is given it can increase the difficulty for Els because it imposes additional
language demands and it can distract them from the phonological focus that they are supposed to be
learning (Gerbert etal 2006). It is hard enough for them to understand what is being ask of them and giving
them extra instructions will just confuse them. It is important to use rapid pace, explicit and concise
questions, and to use enthusiastic praise immediately after a child responds because the students who are
struggling are falling behind their peers, using a fast paced can lead them to catch up within a short time
frame. By using a fast pace approach students have less time of being distracted, it keeps them focus on the
material. To be explicit and concise the teacher fist needs to model the activity he/she wants the students to
do, for struggling readers they need to be taught first of what they need to do to learn the material
(Richards & Leafstedt 2009). By demonstrating to the students what the teacher is asking for they get an

The Role Of Interventions Used By Narrative Therapist
There are various types of interventions utilized by narrative therapist. The intervention used will depend
on the therapist and the client. The following are just a few of the interventions that are at a narrative
therapist disposal.
Problem Deconstruction. Deconstructed Listening and Questions. Deconstructed listening and questions
are based on the philosophical works of Jacques Derrid, narrative therapists use this technique to help their
clients track how dominate discourses are affecting them and enable them to choose which discourses they
will allow to affect their lives (Gehart, 2014). "In deconstructive listening, the therapist listens for "gaps" in
the client's understanding and ask them to fill in the details or has them explain the ambiguities in their
stories"(Gehart, 2014, p. 408). Deconstructive questions help the client breakdown the story to see how it
was constructed in the first place and to help identify which discourse is influencing them (Gehart, 2014).
Scaffolding Conversations. Vygotsky's zone of proximal development concept is the basis of this
intervention. This concept is based on Vygotsky's theory that learning is relational so in order for children
to learn, they need to be able to interact with the new material. This concept can also apply to adults,
especially when the task is difficult for them. The therapist will use "scaffolding conversations to move
from that which is familiar to that which is novel" (Gehart, 2014, p. 409). There are

challenging behaviour.
As explained before physical intervention should not be used unless it can be clearly justified why it was
used, it is not always neccessary. When dealing with challenging behaviour you can use restrictive
intervention such as language which may result in the young person changing their behaviour before it
even leads to an incident. For example there is a young person in my care who we have observed that
responds well to humour, so if he is beginning to display negative/challenging behaviour we try to make
jokes with him and sometimes tickle him. This turns his mood around and prevents an incident even taking
place. It is important to use the least restrictive interventions where possible as if you didnt it could lead to
further dilemmas such as verbal abuse, physical abuse, damage to property etc.
1.6 Describe safeguards that must be in place if restrictive physical interventions are being used.
It is important to ensure that the young people and staff are all safeguarded. Any staff that will be using

environment. Before setting up Autumn Leaves Aged Care Inc., Ced was very confident that the strategy
will not fail because his sale pitch is based on three premises. The premises is persuasive, it shows the
number of baby boomer will provide a profitable market and the tax concessions policy will reduce the
cost. But Ced did not notice the informations are changing, the information maybe totally different after he
anticipated the market and made project. In 2007, the aged care company began to operating and at the
same time the cost of labor and building were skyrocket. In 2008, due to the global financial crisis,
government reduced the tax concession and banks reluctant to lend. Thus Ced might use the outdated
information to execute a plan, he do not follow the change of time to update information and make new
forecast with times. On the other hand, Ced did not make a meticulous research on industry structure. The
supplier power, buyer power and rivalry among the same industry were not considered, the emergency
strategy was not planed. These negligences directly lead to

Challenges Of A Perpetual Change
Introduction Perpetual change is a constant challenge for leaders of today's organizations. These changes
are a combination of societal dynamics, market fluctuations, new technologies, and a variance in the
availability of resources. How leaders and their organizations cope with the challenge of perpetual change
is critical to success and, in some cases, to the future of the organization itself. Hughes, Ginnett and
Curphy (2015) suggest that, "the best leaders are those who recognize the situational and follower factors
inhibiting or facilitating change, paint a compelling vision of the future, and formulate and execute a plan
that moves their vision from a dream to reality" (p. 560). Today's organizations require leaders that ... Show

The manufacturing process promotes quick response and self–sufficiency, which produces 3,000 to 4,000
pairs of shoes per day (J. Robins, n.d.). Despite the historical success of the organization, new technologies
and competitive markets threaten the future success of J. Robins Company. In terms of workforce, J.
Robins has approximately 500 people who have little education and do not speak English (J. Robins, n.d.).
Professional growth within the company is limited due to their vertically integrated approach (Black,
2014). The company's narrow focus on manufacturing is a barrier to any change initiatives as they attempt
to move forward. Over time, this has the potential to create a schism among employees and does not
contribute to a cohesive organizational culture. The J. Robins Company also faces challenges outside of the
organization. The Australian government recently reduced import tariffs below fifteen percent, whereas
other countries tax imports at approximately forty–five percent (J. Robins, n.d.). As the import taxes
decrease, it becomes more economically unfeasible for production to continue at the current rate. From the
supply perspective, this presents a challenge because international manufacturing has already placed
Australian tanneries and metal tooling companies under significant pressure. The closure of Australian
tanneries and metal tooling companies will lead to a materials

ABC Model of Crisis Intervention
Introduction
Every person ultimately experiences crisis moments that may differ in content but tend have specific
shared characteristics. Usually, crisis entails loss, threat, as well as the unexpected. There have been
various theoretical techniques provided for assisting those functioning through crisis. Generally, the most
effectual techniques tend to follow a short therapeutic model which stresses the episode isolated from other
problems and seeks an action plan to mitigate the crisis. The ABC model provides a useful instrument to
enhance the counseling procedure. "A" stands for basic attending skills, "B" stands for the identification of

The Components Of Effective Handwriting Interventions For...
What are the components of effective handwriting interventions for typical primary school age children
with handwriting difficulties?
2.2 Search strategy
Following the formulation of the research question, in February 2015 a systematic approach was taken to
search the existing evidence of interventions for primary school children with handwriting difficulties and
all occupational therapy.
A search was carried out using 5 bibliographic databases. Databases related to healthcare were selected
based on relevance to the topic of occupational therapy and handwriting. Initial electronic searches were
carried out on the databases in December 2014 to ensure the literature involved was a comprehensive
measure available on this topic. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2.3 Criteria for searching the literature
Exclusion criteria were set up to determine the most relevant articles be included to inform for the research
question (Aveyard 2010).
Studies that included children with medical or educational diagnoses that may confound the results were
excluded from the search (e.g. developmental coordination disorder, autism, severe developmental delay,
etc.).
As this study aims to explore and compare the components of handwriting interventions that are effective;
studies that did not describe an intervention strategy to improve handwriting were excluded from the
review.
2.4 Critical Appraisal
In order to assess the validity and usefulness of the papers, a systematic approach is used to critically
appraise the research (Young and Soloman, 2009). All papers in this review have been critically appraised
using the critical appraisal protocol CASP (Public Health Resource Unit (PHRU) 2007) which is a
recognised tool (Aveyard 2010). These can be found in the appendix (appendices 1 – 5).
2.5 Searching the papers
A total of 152 papers were found through database searching. A further 5 papers were found through
reference lists of relevant papers. 141 papers remained when duplicates were removed. After scanning the
titles of the papers, 116 were removed, as they were irrelevant to the topic of handwriting interventions for
primary school children. After reading through the abstract of the remaining 12 papers, a further 7

Promote Positive Behaviour
1.1 Legislation is a set of laws that have been created by the government to make sure all childcare settings
are run correctly. To promote positive behaviour, legislation's such as the Children Act 1989, Human
Rights Act 1998, Every Child Matters 2004, Equality Act 2010 and the Health and Safety at Work Act
1974 are followed by the setting. These Act's include rules and regulations that a setting is required to
follow in order to promote positive behaviour.
All settings also follow Frameworks that are set by different companies that work with childcare settings.

Other people that should be informed are people such as social services if the child is in care or there is
previous history with social services. Other professionals the child may be involved with such as
behavioural managers and physiotherapist should be told and information should also be shared with
school governors so that policies can be reviewed and see if things can be changed to prevent the accident
happening again.
1.5 It is important when dealing with challenging behaviour whilst still trying to promote positive
behaviour that an incidents are dealt with accordingly and appropriately. When a challenging situation
requires you to use a restrictive intervention then the least restrictive option should be used. This is because
be using excessive force or reacting over the top could cause a the situation to get worse, for example if a
child is causing disruptions and you don't use the least restrictive intervention it could cause the child's
attitude to get worse and cause more disruptions.
1.6 All settings should have policies and procedures in place so people no how to deal with restrictive
interventions. These should included a risk assessment of the setting and how risk can be reduced and
avoided. The names of people who it may be likely that a restrictive physical intervention could be needed
for should be available, any notes that relate to the children involved and how certain children should be

Major Advantages Of Functional Behavioral Assessment
According to Raymond (2012), "FBA is the process of gathering information about a learner's behaviors in
order to determine the purpose of a problem behavior in addition to its antecedents and consequences".
This process is for all students regardless if they have a disability or not. Once the target behavior has been
implemented, a hypothesis can be developed and more effective behavioral interventions can be designed
and implemented, including PBIS. All data used to create these implementations need to be
"recent...properly collected and interpreted". In addition to our textbook's information, I also found this:
"Functional behavioral assessment is a test that is meant for identifying the reason for behaviors displayed
by individuals with severe cognitive and communication problems. (...) The following are key benefits
gained from a functional behavioral assessment.
1. Offers a deeper insight
The major advantage of functional behavioral assessment is that it looks beyond all the unsuitable
behaviors themselves. In fact, the focus of this test is to classify the social and environmental factors that
are responsible for causing certain behaviors. This wide perspective offers a deeper insight of the reason
behind a person's behavior. Hence, a functional behavioral assessment helps in explain the reasons why
someone behaves badly, which is very helpful when dealing with various problematic behaviors.
2. Enhances child development
Most children can only communicate well

on the UNF website. I selected this article to analyze as opposed to other articles in the research results
because it met the requirements for the assignment. The researchers whom conducted the study wrote this
article. Many of the other articles listed in the results were research reviews of other studies. Also, many
articles were written by authors who were not conducting the research discussed in the articles. The
reference for this article is:
Brown, J. A. & Woods, J. J. (2015). Effects of a triadic parent–implemented home–based communication

2. Authors Brown and Woods thoroughly explained their background for the research study. Most of the
background research focused on communication and language development. Numerous parent–
implemented interventions were mentioned such as the Early Start Denver Model (P–ESDM), Hanen's
More Than Words (HMTW), KidTalk–TaCTICS Project (KTTP), and Enhanced Milieu Teaching (EMT).
These intervention strategies were discussed by Brown and Woods in the article in order to support their
claim that parent–implemented interventions can have a beneficial impact on their children's language
development and communication. Brown and Woods (2015) cited the work of Roberts and Kaiser (2011),

Academic Coaching With Austin Is Going Well Essay
Academic coaching with Austin seems to still be going well. Except for the fact that he still forgets to meet
with me... and we meet at the same time and day of the week every week. I don't know how to approach
this topic with him again because I already went over it and expressed that I need him to communicate with
me about his absences. I was talking with one of my supervisors about it and she believes that he needs to
be the one making first contact about missing appointments, instead of just responding when I reach out.
He just always seems to have such good excuses. This week he was at a review session for his midterm. I
just need him to communicate. I really don't care if we reschedule later in the week but I hate looking like
an idiot when he doesn't show up. This semester we have known that Austin will struggle in one of his
classes, and he took a test and did poorly on it. Unfortunately, he had the pleasure of finding this out for the
first time when he logged into asulearn in my office. I felt bad. Immediately his demeanor changed and I
could tell that he was upset.
I tried to use this situation to let him know that sometimes crappy situations happen but that isn't a reason
to stop trying. Working with him for a while now has taught me that he needs to explore multiple options
and talk them through with others. So I had him talk through all of his grades so far, and what he could do
with all of the opportunities he has remaining. For example, in this class he has 11

Why Are Intra State Conflicts So Difficult? Resolve?
Why are Intra–State Conflicts so difficult to resolve?
This essay analyses the reasoning behind the difficulty of solving intra–state conflicts. First, it examines
the nature of Intra–State Conflicts, defining their origins and clarifying the different types. The Arab Spring
serves as the case in point to elucidate the problem. Furthermore, it is necessary to describe the role of
international actors in preventing as well as solving intra–state conflicts. Interventionism, as a conflict
management tool will be empirically assessed. This essay argues that there are still imperialist
characteristics in the behaviour of Western States, by emphasising upon NATO foreign policy conducted in
response to the Arab Uprising. The biased interventions in intra–state conflict by international actors are
highlighted as to why such conflicts are so difficult to resolve. Concluding, it is remarked that ethnic,
religious and cultural tension within states, as well the friction between whole civilizations are a significant
factor for the complicated nature of intra–state conflicts.
In the post–cold war era, with the rise of globalisation and the interdependence of markets, one can observe
the moribund decline of traditional inter–state conflicts and the rise of more complex intra–state conflicts.
The reasons behind these conflicts are manifold but at the heart is arguably always a conflict of interest
between two or more groups. The Uppsala Conflict Data Project (2016) defines armed

Reasons Why Couples Choose Not To In-Person Therapy
Many couples experiencing relationship distress choose not to seek therapeutic help. "Recent estimates
founded that only 19% of intact couples seek any type of counseling or therapy for their relationship and
that only 37% of divorced couples sought any couple therapy prior to divorcing" (Cicila, Georgia, & Doss,
2014). Reasons why couples decide not to seek treatment are because of the perceived stigma associated
with therapy, financial burden, and logistical concerns, such as difficulty scheduling appointments or
finding transportation to appointments (Cicila et al., 2014). These findings show couples would rather keep
issues between themselves than talk to a therapist who has the skills and expertise in marital discord. As an

A limitation to this intervention is that it may not be efficient for distressed couples. Especially for couples
dealing with long–term issues in their relationship. For couple participating in this form of intervention
may not get enough out of the program. they may need more support and guidance. An internet–based
intervention does not provide the same level of therapy as in–person therapy. couples may benefit from in–
person therapeutic intervention more than the on–line program. Couples struggling with the online program
may get frustrated which can escalate the distress in their relationship. Another limitation is due to the fact
that therapy is online, couples may not take the program seriously and not be fully committed. This leads to
the program having a low completion rate and may not be seen as an effective form of therapy. A limitation
of the OurRelationship.com program is that most of the activities are done individually. If couples are
having problems in their relationship, it would make sense if they performed activities together. If there
were a few activities that are required to be done individually that would be okay. But requiring activities
to be done individually does not seem like it would benefit the couple. activities presumed together allows

2.3 explain the importance of identifying patterns of behaviour or triggers to challenging behaviour when
establishing proactive and reactive strategies to be used
Behaviour charts or distressed reaction charts should be completed after each incident to try and determine
certain behaviour patterns and/or trigger factors. This can then be transferred into care plan and risk

Government Interventions are Failing
Introduction Around the world, governments, mostly intervenes in the market in order to accomplish their
policy objectives. The government's policy objectives or goals could be related to economics, ranging from
stabilization of prices, export promoting, encourage equal distributions for income and commodity
protection. The examples as per above proves that government intervention is not only limited to economic
effects but also influences the society. There are two (2) types of usual regulated government interventions,
which are automatic and discretionary. Automatic can be defined as intervention which is based on rules
and regulations. On the other side, government interventions which are discretionary mostly targets
stopping, suspension or limitation of a certain contract market. An early review of government market
interventions shows that discretionary based interventions usually fails in accomplishing targeted policy
objective compared to interventions based on rules as the latter proves to be more successful in a market
economy. At the same time, discretionary interventions give results that are undesired and this could be
quite damaging to the government. The harmfulness in this aspect can be defined as total impact on those
involved in either marketing or producing commodities.

order to overcome market failure, to accomplish an equal distribution

United States Intervention Against The Terrorist...
There are a wide variety of arguments regarding the current conflicts in the Middle East, but one of the
most heated debates is whether or not the United States should interfere. Two people with opposite
opinions on the matter are H. A. Goodman and David E. Johnson. Both are professional authors, and both
wrote articles on the subject of United States intervention against the terrorist organization ISIS. While
Goodman's article has a wider audience, Johnson's article is probably more persuasive and credible.
The purpose of Johnson's article is to convince readers that the U.S. should send ground forces to fight
ISIS. At the beginning, Johnson includes an abstract summary of his own article. It clearly states that the
article argues to "make apparent the need to commit US ground combat forces" in the war against the
Islamic State. Throughout the article, Johnson consistently gives reasons why the U.S. should send ground
troops to destroy ISIS. At the end of the article, Johnson states, "...strategic success demands the
commitment of US ground forces." He also states, "...undertaking a clear and comprehensive assessment of
the means necessary for strategic success will make apparent the need to commit US ground combat
forces." These quotes show that he is unmistakably talking about the need for U.S. ground forces in the
ISIS conflict.
On the contrary, Goodman's article strives to convince readers that America shouldn't be involved in the
fight against ISIS, especially when it

State Intervention Essay
State interventions become complex when the severity of the illness is considered. If a child is ill, but not
ill enough, the state is unable to intervene on the child's behalf. It is only when the child becomes life–
threateningly ill that the state is able to step in (Hirasawa, 2006, p. 322). The inclusion of potentially
disabling and disfiguring illnesses has been proposed (Hirasawa, 2006, p. 324). The severity of illness
complicates state intervention further when the child is stricken with a fatal illness that has a treatment but
only provides a small chance of survival. The state has to choose between its mandates of saving the child's
life and preventing harm. In less severe cases, the state may not be inclined to intervene as a ... Show more

717). However, later cases argue against the autonomy of minors, allowing the state to override minors and
their parents (Woolley, 2005, p. 717). Minors are refused the right to make their own decisions based on
the assumption that they are immature and therefore do not possess the decision–making capacities to
make a rational choice (Chen, 2007, p. 645). Current State Interference The state currently interferes in a
variety of manners that might be considered parenting decisions. The state mandates compulsory
vaccinations, education, and adherence to labor laws (Hirasawa, 2006, p. 319). Children of parents who
refuse vaccinations because of religion are banned from school until the vaccination requirement is met
(Hirasawa, 2006, p. 320). Sanctions such as this are in place to protect society, as one is not allowed to act
in a manner that compromises the rights of others (Hirasawa, 2006, p. 320). In addition, the state influences
diet, safety standards for car seats, and curfews (Herrera, 2005, p. 825). These subtle controls over
behavior go relatively unnoticed until religion is involved, then they become more noteworthy.
Inconsistencies in the Law The law demonstrates inconsistencies in written laws, enforcement, and
prosecution. As previously stated, every province has different laws regarding religious

An Evaluation Of Intervention ( Rti )
Response to Intervention (RtI) is an academic framework that has been adopted by school districts across
the country to help create a structure in which all students receiving the supports they need to be successful
in school. The RtI Action Network defines RtI as "a multi–tier approach to the early identification and
support of students with learning and behavior needs." (http://www.rtinetwork.org/learn/what/whatisrti) An
RtI framework addresses both academic concerns and behavior concerns. The behavior framework of RtI is
often called Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports or PBIS. RtI has three tiers in which to address
the academic and behavioral needs of all students. Tier 1 consists of high quality instruction to all students,
including differentiation, and subsequent screening of all students to determine who is in need of further
support. Tier 2 are targeted interventions for those students who are screened and it has been determined
these students are in need of greater support than what is provided in Tier 1 alone. Tier 3 consists of
intensive interventions for those students who have shown little or no progress with tier 2 interventions and
school personnel have determined the student needs more intense and individualized support. As a school
counselor I will be very involved with both RtI Academics and PBIS as a framework to work with all
students and determine the level of support each individual student will need.

To what extent is humanitarian intervention an abandoned...
" To what extent is Humanitarian Intervention an abandoned project? "
Humanitarian Intervention is military intervention that is carried out in pursuit of humanitarian rather than
strategic objectives. This term is controversial and therefore often debated, as it is an evaluative and
subjective term. The common use of the term itself is the desire to come in help to other people, however
according to some other opinions, it is the outcome of the intervention that defines it. Firstly, it is essential
to define what is meant by the word abandoned in this context. As HI has been happening throughout
history, abandoned would imply an on–going lack or diminishing numbers of interventions.
In humanitarianism, the most relevant key concept is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The efficiency of humanitarian intervention is normative because of people having different views on the
output and the unlikeliness of every one being pleased by the new regime therefore it is very hard to affirm
the real results of the intervention. In 2011, a group of countries intervened during the Libyan civil war,
which lead to the abolition of Muammar Gadhafi's regime. The Operation Unified Protector by NATO was
partly successful because they achieved to kill the dictator on 20th October, but partly ineffective because
the standards of living in Libya have not increased and the state is facing a lack of government's ruling.
This case study supports the statement that HI could be an abandoned project as it is not always favourable
to everyone.
Despite the fact that there is some failures, some beneficial interventions still occur. More cases for
intervention emerge due to globalization, which implies that states have closer links to each other and
therefore the responsibility to help becomes stronger. As countries generally develop through time, people
are more educated and communication is more open, which is a factor that governments cannot control.
Thus people are here and now more educated and therefore have the confidence to protest when they feel
that their human rights are abused in their nation. Protesting causes conflicts, that may become violent and

Od Intervention Essay
It is perhaps via conventional wisdom and understanding to consider others whom we encounter as defined
by their roles. This convention further implies that when describing a specific role, that it is this role which
partially defines a person, whether by virtue of their profession, position, or circumstance. The roles which
we engage in are distinct, and thus become synonymous with everyday individual experiences. They help
to establish certain boundaries, while also providing a sense of assurance by way of helping us to identify
and define our place within a given context and environment for which we may better understand our place
in society, specifically in relation to others.
Therefore, when identifying and defining respective individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To answer this question, Burke (2011) suggests that perhaps a more accurate assessment is to change the
paradigm of how one might define the 'client' by describing the client as the relationships or interfaces
established between individuals, which is where the focus of the intervention is to be directed. Although
this may initially seem somewhat perplexing, it does provide an alternative point–of–view when
considering OD intervention, and its intended purposes. Defining a role as something rather than someone,
for instance relationship rather than position, does not appear to follow conventional wisdom, as it seems
rather unintuitive. However, when considering OD intervention, this shift in our paradigm may help
provide a more accurate definition when considering the work involved. Specifically, within the context of
OD intervention, one must consider that no individual is an "island unto himself"; every individual role
exists in relationship with and to others, regardless of his or her position, and these relationships emerge
from our interactions, communications, and experiences with and between each–other. Each person is
therefore part of a greater whole, and it is within this context that the intervention can take place.
Therefore, this distinction between an individuals' role and position, is perhaps of greatest importance
when thinking of OD intervention, since it is not the role or position itself that needs consideration, but the
interactions that take place between

The intervention focuses on programs that are people oriented and environmental. These are designed to
facilitate the performance of everyday tasks and adaption of settings in which the person work, live, and

also reduces environmental barriers and providing resources. The three steps of the treatment intervention
process include intervention plan, implementation, and intervention review. The intervention plan directs
the action of the occupational therapist and occupational therapy assistant. The intervention is developed

Nf1 Unit 1 Reflection

  • 1. Nf1 Unit 1 Reflection As part of a restructure in a one form entry primary school, I was appointed the position of being part of the School Improvement Team and Special Educational Needs Co–ordinator (SENCO). The SENCO role was previously overseen by the Headteacher whom I work closely with in relation to both of the positions I hold. As well as having these responsibilities within the school, I am a full–time class teacher in Year 2. In this study, I will focus on a Year 2 child who I teach. He has a genetic condition called Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). Certain health implications are often associated with NF1 such as learning difficulties, and the severity of the condition can vary considerably from person to person. The child has a school focused plan (SFP) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Giangreco, Doyle and Suter (2013) encourage that teachers and TAs should train together so their expertise in raising pupil achievements are recognised and developed, something that is similarly encouraged in the Standards for Teaching Assistants (DfE, 2015). In practice, the TAs at the school are given opportunities to extend their professional development and often receive training along–side the specific subject leader that the intervention falls under which in hand could promote greater understanding and clarity of roles and responsibilities. For example, the Wave 3 writing and reading intervention training was delivered to the TA and the English subject leader, hence the TA reporting that her own learning and professional development has contributed to her sense of empowerment and professional self–worth, which in hand is why she feels confident enough to plan and alter the intervention, based on the discussions with myself as the class teacher. However, this strategy may not be embedded within all primary schools, which in turn may disempower some members of staff who may be new to the role or less confident with delivering interventions without the sufficient ... It is mainly responsible for ensuring that the trade flows smoothly, predictably and freely. The principal objective of WTO is upliftment of the standard of living internationally; it does activities surrounding the same. When Ministers had adopted the Marrakesh Agreement they had also decided to include a specific reference to Non–Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Article V: 2. The General Council additionally clarified the framework for relations with NGOs by adopting a set of guidelines (WT/L/162) which "recognizes the role NGOs can play to increase the awareness of the public in respect of WTO activities". These guidelines are instrumental for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... NGOs had to demonstrate that their activities were "concerned with matters related to those of the WTO". Symposia Since 1996, a number of symposia have been arranged by the Secretariat for NGOs on particular issues of interest to civil society, namely, three on trade and the environment, one on trade and development and one on trade facilitation. These symposia have provided, on a relaxed basis, the opening for NGOs to discuss certain specific issues with representatives of WTO Member countries. Day–to–day Contact The WTO Secretariat receives a huge number of requests per day from NGOs, from all over the world and Secretariat staff meets with NGOs on a habitual basis – both individually and as a part of NGO organized events. The annual report of the World Trade Organization corroborates the growing official relationship between civil society and trade. Tucked away in a silent corner of the report is the reason that the number of NGOs attending the WTO ministerial increased many times over, from 108 at the Singapore ministerial in 1996 to 811 in the Hong Kong ministerial, nine years later. The growth that occurred in the Seattle ministerial can be attributed to the mobilization of NGOs that were in fact against the WTO. Indeed, at several points in that ministerial, including its abandoned inauguration, official NGO delegates attempted to disrupt proceedings. The role of NGO's in the panel proceedings has been recognized recently but their potential on how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Phase Four: Generating Possible Interventions Phase Four: Generating possible interventions Intervention: A force that attempts to modify some outcome.  Actions or activities that, when put together in a systematic manner, make up a plan to achieve a goal.  When designing an intervention, the starting point should be the problems that were identified in the diagnosis.  Objectives for the intervention must be based on the diagnosis and on the contract agreed with the client. Therefore, the consultant may need to find a balance between sensitivity and directness when presenting data. The advantage of in–service meetings is the consultant will be able to observe characteristics of staff, such as cultural and language differences, and verbal perceptions of death. Also, preparing the staff to acknowledge and overcome workplace resistance by team–building activities that recognize how people deal with change may be beneficial in this scenario (Mitchell et al.,2012). Human service agencies are often face the dilemmas of being over–worked and under paid. Professionals in this field are often prone to burnout because of these dilemmas. This natural ability paired with his or her training will make them competent to handle crisis. Incidentally, there will also be those who pursue the human service paraprofessional career field for the wrong reasons and they will not be able to be affective while assisting those in crisis. These individuals could potentially cause more harm than good for the client or clients in crisis. This especially applies in the case of suicide. The following quote supports this idea. Suicide does not generally come without warning. Almost always, persons considering it show symptoms or provide clues to their intent. It is important, however, for crisis workers to know how to read these and be able to distinguish between myth and reality. (Kanel, 2003, p. 76) Trend Challenges Ineffective workers exist in every career field. The difference may be that with a paraprofessional opportunity people may view it as a "quick–fix" for a good job. These types of workers are hard to identify until he or she begins working directly with clients. At this point it may be hard or even impossible to identify and intervene on possible ineffective approaches used by the paraprofessional. During crisis, there will likely not be a second chance at proper intervention. Paraprofessionals will likely have direct supervision from professional clinicians. This will help ensure the quality of services being rendered as well as a reference point for the paraprofessional to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Instead of funding more detention facilities across North Carolina, the state should provide the funding for implementing effective treatments and programs to offer a chance of rehabilitation. Juveniles are faced with lockdown facilities that suppresses cognitive growth and development. Currently, instead of funding being used for treatment and programming, it is being set aside to build new facilities which will produce the same recidivism rate. "Much is known about effective prevention programs from research and practice and the question of how to optimize such programs for cost–effective impact on juvenile behavior is worthy of careful consideration"("Improving The Effectiveness Of Juvenile Justice Programs"). Not only is it beneficial for society to recognize behaviors which could lead to juvenile behavior but for society to realize how to treat and improve those behaviors. The school systems in which adolescents grow up have a major influence on the outcome of our children. If principles, teachers, and teacher assistants were trained on not only how to detect alarming behaviors, but how to mold and shape it for positive reinforcement in the classroom, it would change the outcome of the type of young teenager they develop into. The earlier this type of alarming behavior can be detected the higher chance of preventing it from spiraling out of control. Schizophrenia: The Impact on Families Families with a member suffering from any illness may be stressful enough but families with members diagnosed with schizophrenia are often faced with additional challenges such as the "external stressors of social stigma, isolation, and emotional frustration". Many times, family conflicts arise as members attempt to provide care on an everyday basis (Chien, 2010, pg. xi). "A Beautiful Mind" is a brilliant motion picture directed by Ron Howard that chronicles the life of one John Nash, a prominent mathematician and the challenges he endures throughout his adult life afflicted with a chronic mental illness. In response to changes in John's behavior due to his medications, one scene clearly depicts non–verbal "criticism and hostility" by Alica after her attempt to be intimate with her husband. "High expressed emotions" such as criticism and hostility are often how primary caregivers express themselves, which further increase psychological stress upon the entire family (Chien, 2010, p. 4). With the progression of the disease, the social and physical impact on the Nash family becomes even more evident. The contrast demonstrated between their homes prior to John's diagnosis and after, represent the fall in socioeconomic status of the family. Non–compliance on John's behalf towards his treatment exacerbated because of the impact the medications had on the relationship with his wife. John clearly states his inability to "take care of the baby," and "to respond to his wife" led to make the decision to stop taking his medications. His decision however leads him to causing potential physical harm to his baby, and also to his wife because of the influence of his visual, and auditory hallucinations. Throughout the progression of John's disease, the impact on the family is evident clearly indicating the need for family intervention (Chien, 2010). The plan will include the client's input but will also include the counselor's best judgement for treatment. This proposal will show the start of the assessment and end at the after–care component. Treatment Plan Proposal Basics of Proposed Plan: Assessment: Each client who decides to seek treatment will first undergo a thorough assessment. This assessment will include use of two or more self–reporting tools. These tools may include the DAST–10, AUDIT, Kessler 6 &10, and C–SSRS (Columbia–Suicide Severity Rating Scale) (SAMHSA, 2011, para 3–4). These scores will be used in conjunction with the "DSM–5 section III emerging measures" (SAMHSA, 2011, para. 2). A proper assessment is needed to determine the severity of substance abuse and the mental state of the client. If needed, the client will be further evaluated for the need of psychiatric medications to stabilize any potential mental illness concerns such as depression, anxiety, or schizophrenia. As a matter, of course, detox on an in–patient basis may be required before treatment can be implemented. Observation and intervention by the medical team will be utilized to detect and treat any medical concerns such as seizures, thyroid dysfunction, or medical dysfunctions during the detox phase. Are people willing to deal with those consequences? Do leftwing activists want the U.S. to increase its military presence in Syria? Do they want the U.S. to keep arming so–called "rebel forces?" Are leftists actually calling for further military intervention in Syria? Am I processing this correctly? Already, over 12 nations have bombed Syria, with horrific results. Are we asking for more bombs, but from different planes? What principles are activists operating under? Remember, the U.S. military, like all military forces in the world, is a force for death and destruction – that 's it. The U.S. military is incapable of "saving people." The point of the U.S. military is to destroy and kill. Yet, I keep getting emails from people saying, "We have to do something!" Yes, let 's do something. Let 's build political movements that can actually oppose the U.S. Empire. Let 's cut the U.S. military budget by 90% – and that 's just the beginning. Let 's stop selling arms to everyone on the planet. Let 's stop supporting brutal regimes. Let 's stop the drone strikes and the special forces operations in Africa and elsewhere. Let 's end the war in Afghanistan. Let 's get out of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. State Intervention and the Economy Essay It is widely believed by scholars that many of the varying levels of economic development between states are the direct result of a negative correlation between the aforementioned and the varying degrees of state intervention. In most cases it is evident that the more a state intervenes in its economy, the less the country will develop. While, at the same time, a country whose intervention exists at a minimal level will tend to have a stronger economy and a more rapid rate of development. However, it is also important to understand that as with many concepts there will always be extreme cases where the states may not strictly follow this model; in some cases they may even behave completely opposite. These extreme cases are often due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, an advocate for government failure would argue that were this to occur the market would be worse off due to the fact that bureaucrats often pursue their best interests which may not necessarily coincide with those of the public. In support of this belief it can be argued that since bureaucratic agents are not elected officials they are able to implement various policies without fear of any negative consequences such as not winning a reelection. As can be inferred from the concepts of market and government failure; government intervention is not necessarily always a bad thing. In fact, sometimes it can lead to the advancement of a nation. Governments whose bureaucracies act in such a way can also be referenced as "developmental states"; which means that although the government is interfering with the economy, the bureaucracy is focusing on the long–term interest of the country versus the personal gain of a select few in the short–term. Amsden writes about this concept in his article, Getting Relative Prices "Wrong": A Summary, by bringing up the idea that, "...it promises industrial expansion if the state is strong enough merely to provide enough political stability for a long term investments, to point prices in the right direction, and then to exit" (Amsden 147). Government Intervention In Social Issues In The United States Unlike many modernized countries, the United States is in a perpetual debate regarding the need for governmental intervention in social matter. This debate has lead to two factions those that feel the government should be more involved in social issues ("big government"), and the other, which feel that government should be less intrusive ("small government"). It appeared that she was overwhelmed and over rot in the office. On several occasions she was in tears in the office and it had been reported that she was snapping at the instructors. Everyone has a "bad day" at work from time to time but this appeared to be much more than just a bad day. If I were to break it down into steps according to the ORJI cycle. This is how it appeared to me now. Observation. I observed that a staff member was crying in the office and difficult to approach. Evaluation Of The Braden Scale Screening Tool Essay Educational Needs Patient and Family It is important that patient and family are on the same page with staff are fully aware of the risks of HAPUs and what they can watch for and do to prevent them from acquiring them. The Braden Scale is simple enough that it can be used as is, or modified to help the patient and family best understand what signs and symptoms to be aware of, as well as the risk factors that may be modifiable or addressed early, in order to minimize them as quickly as possible. Staff. The acute care staff will require in–service training and evaluation before they implement the Braden Scale screening tool. It is important that the staff is able to properly identify and understand all of the criteria covered by the Braden Scale. By giving demonstrations and then allowing the staff to teach–back and then demonstrate the use of the Braden Scale screening tool, they will be able to have a greater success rate in properly assessing patients who have a higher risk of acquiring HAPUs and will be able to intervene in a timely manner before any irreversible damage is done. Similar to findings of the interview analysis, survey participants acknowledged benefits of integrated therapies. She identified "getting their energy out", "calm them", task completion, and cooperative behaviors as some of the benefits of interventions. In contrast, classroom disruptions and off– task behaviors were identified as the cost of the intervention. Similarly, the teacher's sense of control influenced her perspective of the intervention. Her sense of control depended on the ability to negotiate classroom demands which were influenced by her personal context, the support she received, and dynamics of the classroom structure. It is hard enough for them to understand what is being ask of them and giving them extra instructions will just confuse them. By using a fast pace approach students have less time of being distracted, it keeps them focus on the material. • 65. The Role Of Interventions Used By Narrative Therapist There are various types of interventions utilized by narrative therapist. The intervention used will depend on the therapist and the client. The following are just a few of the interventions that are at a narrative therapist disposal. Problem Deconstruction. Deconstructed Listening and Questions. Deconstructed listening and questions are based on the philosophical works of Jacques Derrid, narrative therapists use this technique to help their clients track how dominate discourses are affecting them and enable them to choose which discourses they will allow to affect their lives (Gehart, 2014). "In deconstructive listening, the therapist listens for "gaps" in the client's understanding and ask them to fill in the details or has them explain the ambiguities in their stories"(Gehart, 2014, p. 408). Deconstructive questions help the client breakdown the story to see how it was constructed in the first place and to help identify which discourse is influencing them (Gehart, 2014). Scaffolding Conversations. Vygotsky's zone of proximal development concept is the basis of this intervention. This concept is based on Vygotsky's theory that learning is relational so in order for children to learn, they need to be able to interact with the new material. This concept can also apply to adults, especially when the task is difficult for them. The therapist will use "scaffolding conversations to move from that which is familiar to that which is novel" (Gehart, 2014, p. 409). There are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As explained before physical intervention should not be used unless it can be clearly justified why it was used, it is not always neccessary. For example there is a young person in my care who we have observed that responds well to humour, so if he is beginning to display negative/challenging behaviour we try to make jokes with him and sometimes tickle him. This turns his mood around and prevents an incident even taking place. These changes are a combination of societal dynamics, market fluctuations, new technologies, and a variance in the availability of resources. Hughes, Ginnett and Curphy (2015) suggest that, "the best leaders are those who recognize the situational and follower factors inhibiting or facilitating change, paint a compelling vision of the future, and formulate and execute a plan that moves their vision from a dream to reality" (p. 560). The Australian government recently reduced import tariffs below fifteen percent, whereas other countries tax imports at approximately forty–five percent (J. Robins, n.d.). Major Advantages Of Functional Behavioral Assessment According to Raymond (2012), "FBA is the process of gathering information about a learner's behaviors in order to determine the purpose of a problem behavior in addition to its antecedents and consequences". This process is for all students regardless if they have a disability or not. Once the target behavior has been implemented, a hypothesis can be developed and more effective behavioral interventions can be designed and implemented, including PBIS. All data used to create these implementations need to be "recent...properly collected and interpreted". In addition to our textbook's information, I also found this: "Functional behavioral assessment is a test that is meant for identifying the reason for behaviors displayed by individuals with severe cognitive and communication problems. (...) The following are key benefits gained from a functional behavioral assessment. 1. Offers a deeper insight The major advantage of functional behavioral assessment is that it looks beyond all the unsuitable behaviors themselves. In fact, the focus of this test is to classify the social and environmental factors that are responsible for causing certain behaviors. This wide perspective offers a deeper insight of the reason behind a person's behavior. Hence, a functional behavioral assessment helps in explain the reasons why someone behaves badly, which is very helpful when dealing with various problematic behaviors. 2. Except for the fact that he still forgets to meet with me... and we meet at the same time and day of the week every week. I don't know how to approach this topic with him again because I already went over it and expressed that I need him to communicate with me about his absences. I was talking with one of my supervisors about it and she believes that he needs to be the one making first contact about missing appointments, instead of just responding when I reach out. He just always seems to have such good excuses. This week he was at a review session for his midterm. I just need him to communicate. I really don't care if we reschedule later in the week but I hate looking like an idiot when he doesn't show up. I tried to use this situation to let him know that sometimes crappy situations happen but that isn't a reason to stop trying. Working with him for a while now has taught me that he needs to explore multiple options and talk them through with others. So I had him talk through all of his grades so far, and what he could do with all of the opportunities he has remaining. For example, in this class he has 11 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 109. Why Are Intra State Conflicts So Difficult? Resolve? Why are Intra–State Conflicts so difficult to resolve? This essay analyses the reasoning behind the difficulty of solving intra–state conflicts. First, it examines the nature of Intra–State Conflicts, defining their origins and clarifying the different types. The Arab Spring serves as the case in point to elucidate the problem. Furthermore, it is necessary to describe the role of international actors in preventing as well as solving intra–state conflicts. Interventionism, as a conflict management tool will be empirically assessed. This essay argues that there are still imperialist characteristics in the behaviour of Western States, by emphasising upon NATO foreign policy conducted in response to the Arab Uprising. The biased interventions in intra–state conflict by international actors are highlighted as to why such conflicts are so difficult to resolve. Concluding, it is remarked that ethnic, religious and cultural tension within states, as well the friction between whole civilizations are a significant factor for the complicated nature of intra–state conflicts. In the post–cold war era, with the rise of globalisation and the interdependence of markets, one can observe the moribund decline of traditional inter–state conflicts and the rise of more complex intra–state conflicts. The reasons behind these conflicts are manifold but at the heart is arguably always a conflict of interest between two or more groups. The Uppsala Conflict Data Project (2016) defines armed ... • 113. Reasons Why Couples Choose Not To In-Person Therapy Many couples experiencing relationship distress choose not to seek therapeutic help. "Recent estimates founded that only 19% of intact couples seek any type of counseling or therapy for their relationship and that only 37% of divorced couples sought any couple therapy prior to divorcing" (Cicila, Georgia, & Doss, 2014). Reasons why couples decide not to seek treatment are because of the perceived stigma associated with therapy, financial burden, and logistical concerns, such as difficulty scheduling appointments or finding transportation to appointments (Cicila et al., 2014). These findings show couples would rather keep issues between themselves than talk to a therapist who has the skills and expertise in marital discord. As an alternative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A limitation to this intervention is that it may not be efficient for distressed couples. Especially for couples dealing with long–term issues in their relationship. For couple participating in this form of intervention may not get enough out of the program. they may need more support and guidance. An internet–based intervention does not provide the same level of therapy as in–person therapy. couples may benefit from in– person therapeutic intervention more than the on–line program. Couples struggling with the online program may get frustrated which can escalate the distress in their relationship. Another limitation is due to the fact that therapy is online, couples may not take the program seriously and not be fully committed. This leads to the program having a low completion rate and may not be seen as an effective form of therapy. A limitation of the OurRelationship.com program is that most of the activities are done individually. If couples are having problems in their relationship, it would make sense if they performed activities together. If there were a few activities that are required to be done individually that would be okay. But requiring activities to be done individually does not seem like it would benefit the couple. activities presumed together allows couples to communicate and actively work on their ... • 122. Government Interventions are Failing Introduction Around the world, governments, mostly intervenes in the market in order to accomplish their policy objectives. The government's policy objectives or goals could be related to economics, ranging from stabilization of prices, export promoting, encourage equal distributions for income and commodity protection. The examples as per above proves that government intervention is not only limited to economic effects but also influences the society. There are two (2) types of usual regulated government interventions, which are automatic and discretionary. Automatic can be defined as intervention which is based on rules and regulations. On the other side, government interventions which are discretionary mostly targets stopping, suspension or limitation of a certain contract market. An early review of government market interventions shows that discretionary based interventions usually fails in accomplishing targeted policy objective compared to interventions based on rules as the latter proves to be more successful in a market economy. At the same time, discretionary interventions give results that are undesired and this could be quite damaging to the government. The harmfulness in this aspect can be defined as total impact on those involved in either marketing or producing commodities. Government Intervention in the Markets Some of the reasons which cause government interventions are in order to overcome market failure, to accomplish an equal distribution ... As a patient dealing with my own health struggles I see the crucial role a CLS plays in the discovery of a disease. CLS do not personally interact with patients, but they perform tests to diagnose the disease and provide the vital data of the disease, which helps physicians determine the best treatment for the patient. Without CLS diseases can be misdiagnosed, especially when they are based on symptoms. Many diseases share the same symptoms. As a result, diseases may be misdiagnosed and the treatment plan for the patient may be incorrect. This leads to stress for the patient and money wasted. • 130. United States Intervention Against The Terrorist... There are a wide variety of arguments regarding the current conflicts in the Middle East, but one of the most heated debates is whether or not the United States should interfere. Two people with opposite opinions on the matter are H. A. Goodman and David E. Johnson. Both are professional authors, and both wrote articles on the subject of United States intervention against the terrorist organization ISIS. While Goodman's article has a wider audience, Johnson's article is probably more persuasive and credible. The purpose of Johnson's article is to convince readers that the U.S. should send ground forces to fight ISIS. At the beginning, Johnson includes an abstract summary of his own article. It clearly states that the article argues to "make apparent the need to commit US ground combat forces" in the war against the Islamic State. Throughout the article, Johnson consistently gives reasons why the U.S. should send ground troops to destroy ISIS. At the end of the article, Johnson states, "...strategic success demands the commitment of US ground forces." He also states, "...undertaking a clear and comprehensive assessment of the means necessary for strategic success will make apparent the need to commit US ground combat forces." These quotes show that he is unmistakably talking about the need for U.S. ground forces in the ISIS conflict. On the contrary, Goodman's article strives to convince readers that America shouldn't be involved in the fight against ISIS, especially when it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 138. State Intervention Essay State interventions become complex when the severity of the illness is considered. If a child is ill, but not ill enough, the state is unable to intervene on the child's behalf. It is only when the child becomes life– threateningly ill that the state is able to step in (Hirasawa, 2006, p. 322). The inclusion of potentially disabling and disfiguring illnesses has been proposed (Hirasawa, 2006, p. 324). The severity of illness complicates state intervention further when the child is stricken with a fatal illness that has a treatment but only provides a small chance of survival. The state has to choose between its mandates of saving the child's life and preventing harm. In less severe cases, the state may not be inclined to intervene as a ... Minors are refused the right to make their own decisions based on the assumption that they are immature and therefore do not possess the decision–making capacities to make a rational choice (Chen, 2007, p. 645). Current State Interference The state currently interferes in a variety of manners that might be considered parenting decisions. The state mandates compulsory vaccinations, education, and adherence to labor laws (Hirasawa, 2006, p. 319). Children of parents who refuse vaccinations because of religion are banned from school until the vaccination requirement is met (Hirasawa, 2006, p. 320). Sanctions such as this are in place to protect society, as one is not allowed to act in a manner that compromises the rights of others (Hirasawa, 2006, p. 320). In addition, the state influences diet, safety standards for car seats, and curfews (Herrera, 2005, p. 825). These subtle controls over behavior go relatively unnoticed until religion is involved, then they become more noteworthy. Inconsistencies in the Law The law demonstrates inconsistencies in written laws, enforcement, and prosecution. As previously stated, every province has different laws regarding religious ... • 142. An Evaluation Of Intervention ( Rti ) Response to Intervention (RtI) is an academic framework that has been adopted by school districts across the country to help create a structure in which all students receiving the supports they need to be successful in school. The RtI Action Network defines RtI as "a multi–tier approach to the early identification and support of students with learning and behavior needs." (http://www.rtinetwork.org/learn/what/whatisrti) An RtI framework addresses both academic concerns and behavior concerns. The behavior framework of RtI is often called Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports or PBIS. RtI has three tiers in which to address the academic and behavioral needs of all students. Tier 1 consists of high quality instruction to all students, including differentiation, and subsequent screening of all students to determine who is in need of further support. Tier 2 are targeted interventions for those students who are screened and it has been determined these students are in need of greater support than what is provided in Tier 1 alone. Tier 3 consists of intensive interventions for those students who have shown little or no progress with tier 2 interventions and school personnel have determined the student needs more intense and individualized support. As a school counselor I will be very involved with both RtI Academics and PBIS as a framework to work with all students and determine the level of support each individual student will need. " Humanitarian Intervention is military intervention that is carried out in pursuit of humanitarian rather than strategic objectives. This term is controversial and therefore often debated, as it is an evaluative and subjective term. The common use of the term itself is the desire to come in help to other people, however according to some other opinions, it is the outcome of the intervention that defines it. Firstly, it is essential to define what is meant by the word abandoned in this context. As HI has been happening throughout history, abandoned would imply an on–going lack or diminishing numbers of interventions. In humanitarianism, the most relevant key concept is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The efficiency of humanitarian intervention is normative because of people having different views on the output and the unlikeliness of every one being pleased by the new regime therefore it is very hard to affirm the real results of the intervention. In 2011, a group of countries intervened during the Libyan civil war, which lead to the abolition of Muammar Gadhafi's regime. The Operation Unified Protector by NATO was partly successful because they achieved to kill the dictator on 20th October, but partly ineffective because the standards of living in Libya have not increased and the state is facing a lack of government's ruling. This case study supports the statement that HI could be an abandoned project as it is not always favourable to everyone. Despite the fact that there is some failures, some beneficial interventions still occur. More cases for intervention emerge due to globalization, which implies that states have closer links to each other and therefore the responsibility to help becomes stronger. As countries generally develop through time, people are more educated and communication is more open, which is a factor that governments cannot control. Thus people are here and now more educated and therefore have the confidence to protest when they feel that their human rights are abused in their nation. Protesting causes conflicts, that may become violent and therefore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 150. Od Intervention Essay It is perhaps via conventional wisdom and understanding to consider others whom we encounter as defined by their roles. This convention further implies that when describing a specific role, that it is this role which partially defines a person, whether by virtue of their profession, position, or circumstance. The roles which we engage in are distinct, and thus become synonymous with everyday individual experiences. They help to establish certain boundaries, while also providing a sense of assurance by way of helping us to identify and define our place within a given context and environment for which we may better understand our place in society, specifically in relation to others. Therefore, when identifying and defining respective individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To answer this question, Burke (2011) suggests that perhaps a more accurate assessment is to change the paradigm of how one might define the 'client' by describing the client as the relationships or interfaces established between individuals, which is where the focus of the intervention is to be directed. Although this may initially seem somewhat perplexing, it does provide an alternative point–of–view when considering OD intervention, and its intended purposes. Defining a role as something rather than someone, for instance relationship rather than position, does not appear to follow conventional wisdom, as it seems rather unintuitive. However, when considering OD intervention, this shift in our paradigm may help provide a more accurate definition when considering the work involved. Specifically, within the context of OD intervention, one must consider that no individual is an "island unto himself"; every individual role exists in relationship with and to others, regardless of his or her position, and these relationships emerge from our interactions, communications, and experiences with and between each–other. Each person is therefore part of a greater whole, and it is within this context that the intervention can take place. Therefore, this distinction between an individuals' role and position, is perhaps of greatest importance when thinking of OD intervention, since it is not the role or position itself that needs consideration, but the interactions that take place between ... These are designed to facilitate the performance of everyday tasks and adaption of settings in which the person work, live, and socializes. The three steps of the treatment intervention process include intervention plan, implementation, and intervention review.
