Personal Ambition
Personal ambitions and goals have been influential within my life causing a major impact on the professional and personal connections that I have
made within my community.
Every morning when I wake up I am in a positive state of mind that can lead to completing my daily goals and finishes with the feeling of success.
When starting the day striving to meet my goals gives me a sense of accomplishment through my personal ambitions. I find every goal that I attain
assists me in reaching bigger and more desirable goals resulting in being a man with numerous trades and accomplishments.
Having a positive reputation and a last name that others respect is very important in todays society resulting in strong connections socially and
professionally by having strong personal relations skills. All the above things has given me the motivation to strive towards larger goals. Without
reaching and accomplishing small goals you will not be able to succeed and reach for large goals which will can limit your ambitions.
At the age of 12 I created my own little business with a simple plan and a goal of just making a small income by mowing lawns with my small Honda
lawn mower. My plan aloud me to receive 80 dollars a month in the first year but steadily increased every summer because my customer base
increased word of mouth and supply and demand. My financial gain has increased by 525 percent when comparing it to my first monthly income of 80
dollars a month. Challenges soon started to arise

Essay On Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell
(–– removed HTML ––)
Seong Hyun Kim(David)
ELA 11
Most people normally bring about personal qualities when they think for the main components of success. However, Malcolm Gladwell, a famous
writer, contradicts the assumption of people through the book, Outliers. Gladwell insists that extrinsic factors define success rather than the personal
qualities. Nonetheless, Gladwell himself goes against the topic of Outliers in his assertion about hard working "if you work hard enough and assert
yourself, and use your mind and imagination, you can shape the world to your desires". Although people should work hard to seize the opportunity for
success, success actually came from extrinsic factors because opportunity of relative age gives physical and emotional advantages through appropriate
timing for birth, opportunity to raise under the concerted cultivation increases one's practical intelligence, and opportunity to fulfill 10,000 hours of
practice guarantees time to achieve success at every field.
For first reason to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin with, 10,000 hours of practice is known as the minimal time to become a master in their own field. It's important to have 10,000 hours of
practice, but most of people can't fulfill 10,000 hours of practice because they do not have an opportunity to get 10,000 hours. In the case of Outliers,
Gladwell exemplifies Beatles to show the opportunity to get 10,000 hours of practice. Beatles could fulfill 10,000 hours of practice in Hamburg for an
opportunity to perform for 270 nights in just over a year and a half. Consequently, the Beatles became outliers in their music. The lesson from Beatles
is that people should seize an opportunity to practice 10,000 hours at their field. Otherwise, the success doesn't approach to individuals. Therefore, the
opportunity to fulfill 10,000 hours of practice challenges Gladwell's suggestion of hard

My Internship At Future Perfect Ventures
My internship at FuturePerfect Ventures has been an incredible learning experience and a stepping–stone for a fulfilling career path. I have known that
I wanted to pursue a career in financial communications before I even started the internship search process. My experience at FuturePerfect Ventures
not only solidified my desire to work in this specific industry but also gave me the opportunity to build on my existing skills and allowed me to have
first–hand experience in this area. Thus, my internship at FuturePerfect Ventures has been, in many ways, more than alearning experience but also what
Nathaniel Kolac, the author of the Harvard Business Review article, "Build a Career Worth Having, refers as a valuable stepping stone, one of the
many experiences that help create the path to a successful, fulfilling career. All of my previous internship experiences have allowed me to hone in on
and strengthen different skills. In his article, Kolac stresses the importance of treating one's career like a "grand experiment" in order to develop a
valuable career. My internship at FuturePerfect Ventures was certainly a "grand experiment" for me. While I was able to learn a lot about the financial
industry, investing, and startups, I also I had to rely on the communications–related skills that I learned in my graduate classes and from previous
internship experiences to help me because I was not interning for a communications team. Now that I've interned at FuturePerfect Ventures for

The American Dream Essay
The American Dream. Three words that give hope to those who never imagined having it. Immigration isn't something that can be understood by those
who never went through it; it's more than a term, more than some citizenship papers, more than a new country, it's a completely new life.
I am the son of immigrants. That statement alone shakes me to my very core and lays a heavy burden on my heart. I will forever be indebted to
my parents for all the sacrifices they've ever made, and will undoubtedly continue to make, for me. The very act of leaving behind family, friends,
coworkers (essentially their entire lives) for the chance to create a better future for my siblings and me is one I'll never be able to fully grasp.
Immigrating to a foreign land where to them, not a single word is understood or a rooted relationship has been made, is an honorable sacrifice by
anyone's standards.
Their sacrifice has been my unwavering motivation ever since I came to this country at five years old. Everything I have done, everything I am, and
everything I will be has been the result of one decision that forever changed my life. My greatest goal is to one day be able to return this
unmeasurable favor in any way I can, and the first step towards that is a great education, a concept that was planted in me at a very young age.
There's a common knowledge among the children of immigrants – we have to achieve the American Dream. The American Dream is comprised of an
incredible job, a luxurious

Market opportunity is a big factor in shaping a company's strategy. Indeed, managers can't properly tailor strategy to the company's situation without
first identifying its market opportunities and appraising the growth and profit potential each one holds. Centurum managers do an excellent job of
identifying potential opportunities and appraising the potential impact of each opportunity for the company. Centurum managers due an in depth

match the skill–sets of its employees and the size of the company. The market opportunities most relevant to a company are those that match up well
with the company's competitive assets, offer the best prospects for growth and profitability, and present the most potential for competitive advantage

My Life After My Last 10 Years
When I think about how was my life in my last 10 years, I think is a great example to analyze why and how be self–award start to be so important in

my divorce, took me 2 years treatment with psychologist to get my confidence back and remained how important had my dignity back to my life change
my situation.
The first time I realize what was to be self–awareness it was when I asked my psychologist how I decided the correct time to leave my ex–husband.
The psychologist told me to prepare myself because in that time I never scared and I knew that. And what happened it was I exactly knew the correct

weaknesses, what opportunities are available, and the threats I made faces during my journey with my PHD program. In addition, I reviewed my
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, to help me improve and plan, in a form that it 's will be beneficial and effective for me. The first

What Makes A Nurse?
When some think of a nurse, they tend to think about someone darting back and forth across a hospital – caring for those who are sick or injured. After
all, isn't that how the Webster 's dictionary defines it as, "a person trained to care for the sick or infirm." However, a nurse is more than that. Anurse is a
compassionate professional who assists in various medical environments with patients ranging from prior to birth through death. Individuals who are
nurses, tend to be motivated, strong, compassionate, and determined to succeed. A nurse 's work to feel rewarded, not only for themselves, but all the

the other hand, it is a career that is very rewarding for those who truly desire to be in the field.
"Why nursing?" is what many ask after you courageously tell them your future plans for college. To some it may seem as a common career to pursue –
but to some of us, it is our calling. Our calling to help this continuously conflicted society. A society with a never ending epidemic of disease andillness
. As frightening as it may sound to some, this is a responsibility that I wish to take on, for the ill and injured – as well as for myself. This belief
however, was not the beginning nor the end to my decision.

Encouragement: Eulogy For Grandmother
E–––Encouragement
Every person you know needs to be encouraged at some point. Everyone needs to have someone in their lives who is willing to listen to their stories
and tell them they are loved.
I can remember some of the most tender moments with my grandmother. We would just sit at her dinner table and talk. She would tell me what she was
thinking–usually about special memories from her past. I would listen to her intently, as if I were hearing her stories for the first time. I knew it meant a
great deal to her.
But then came one of the most painful days in both our lives. My grandmother had a fatal heart attack during surgery. She left this world and entered
her heavenly reward. While I was thrilled for her, I was sad as I realized that from then on, she couldn't say anything to me–not a word.
Although it was extremely difficult to bear, I was so thankful we had not wasted the opportunities God had given us to express our love for one
another. It gave me comfort to know we had not taken those times for granted. I was certain my grandmother understood how very much I cared for her.
What about you? Is there someone in your life who needs to know how much you love him or her? Is there someone who would benefit from your
kind words or listening ear? Has the Father impressed upon your heart others to whom you should minister? If so, I encourage you to make the most of
the opportunities God gives you.

False Imprisonment Without Legal Justification
I.Can Steven Bender demonstrate that Stan and Linda Kremer ("Kremers") are liable for false imprisonment when they sent him to the downstairs
basement with no access to phone service and would not allow his friends to come on to their property?
False imprisonment occurs when there is confinement without legal justification. The elements of false imprisonment are the restraint of the plaintiff
against his or her will and the unlawfulness of the restraint. When looking at restraint against his/her will the courts will look at whether the restraint
was a total restraint of liberty with no opportunity to leave. Walker v. Hanke, 992 S.W.2d 925, 935 (Mo. Ct. App. 1999). This analysis will focus on
whether Bender was restrained against his will.
A.Was Steven Bender restrained against his will when the Kremers ordered him to go downstairs to the room he stayed in at their house withoutthe
opportunity to call his friends or have the friends come over to help him move out?
Courts hold that restraint occurs with the total restraint of liberty and no opportunity to leave. Id. In Walker, the court held that there was no
confinement because there was no total restraint of the plaintiff's liberty. Id. at 936. The court found that the Hankes had built a fence around their
yard at Mr. Walker 's request. Id. at 935. After the parties had a falling out about some settlement money, the Hankes placed chains and a lock on the
fence to keep Walker's lawyer out. Id. When Walker let the

My Experience In My Life
I started this experience in this class with my luggage which was empty of experience, but now, when this journey is almost close to an end, I am
thankful for having had the chance of being part of such amazing class and course. I considered every single class as a "stop" where I had the
chance to visit something new and get something which could remain in my memories and could be useful for my personal life. From the very first
class I realized that this could have been a different experience. I agree when Lily, in the first class told us that using slides and books cannot be
considered an experience from which you can take something to grow as a person. Therefore, from the beginning of this journey I took the opportunity
to challenge myself and to especially defeat my fears. In fact, throughout my entire life I have been very emotional and rarely I was taking an
initiative when I have to speak in public. When first I candidate for the CFO role, I was afraid of talking in front of everyone, but then I took this
occasion to give a turnaround to this experience and in the end, I managed also to be elected. During my speech, I used a particular sentence "life
is no made of grades, but of experiences" and I guess this class reflected perfectly what I was expecting. I was not expecting a grade from it, but
rather to get something which possibly could help me throughout all my experience here in San Diego, but also for my life and working career.

The Belonging Of A Community
When thinking about a community, it doesn't matter what forms within however on a much greater scale. A community doesn't just consist of
buildings, in fact, a community is brought together through the use of three different concepts; emotional belonging, connections within the
community and thirdly relationships between one's self. These allow an individual to make a difference and allow for others to become inspired. To
me, community means coming together to ensure one feels a sense of belongingness which in turns allows individuals to be themselves. Just like the
quote "small acts, when multiplied by millions of people can transform the world" (Howard Zinn) This displays that when a community comes
together as one that small act turns into something much more greater which results in a positive atmosphere. Once that positivity has arrived within
the community, this allows people to unleash their personal power and become inspired to teach, to communicate, and to connect with many
different groups of people in a diverse setting. "Belonging for young children is being a place where they feel comfortable enough to play without
having to look over their shoulders seeking approval, or dodging disapproval, to explore without fear, to redefine their space and to use materials
around them to create for themselves a sense of order, pattern and structure" (Bev Bos) This displays that in order for a child to feel safe, their
community needs to be open and allow for mistakes

Self Evaluation Motivates Performance Essay
Self Evaluation Motivates Performance
To demonstrate that the potential for self–evaluation can motivate performance, the potential for evaluation by external sources must be eliminated. As
Bandura (1986) writes, "When environmental constraints are reduced, the influence of self–evaluative motivators becomes most self–evident" (p. 479).
Thus, to determine whether the self–evaluative concerns suggested by social comparison theory motivate performance, one must ensure that people
feel that they cannot be individually evaluated by an externalsource. Such control of external evaluation is made possible through the use of the social
loafing paradigm (e.g., Latane, Williams, & Harkins, 1979).
Social loafing refers to the finding that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Szy@ manski and Harkins (1987) did exactly this in an experiment in which they asked participants to generate as many uses as they could (i.e.,
do–your–best instructions) for a common object, regardless of the creativity of those uses. Pilot work with this task showed that participants felt that
they knew how many uses they had generated (their output). Therefore, to manipulate the potential for self–evaluation, Szymanski and Harkins either
provided an evaluative criterion by telling participants that at the end of the session they would be told the average number of uses generated by
participants in a previous version of the experiment, or Szymanksi and Harkins withheld the criterion by telling participants that to preserve
confidentiality they would not be given this information. When the participants were provided with the evaluative criterion, they had an opportunity
for selfevaluation by social comparison. This manipulation of the potential for self–evaluation was crossed with a manipulation of the potential for
experimenter evaluation. Half of the participants were told that at the end of the session, the experimenter would come in and count the number of uses
that they had generated (experimenter evaluation), whereas the other half of the participants were told that the experimenter was interested in average
performance so their individual outputs would be pooled with those of

Fate Essay : Character Is Fate In Heraclitus
Fate is a future that is destined to happen and there is no avoiding the imminent. Fate is controversial some might say it is just what happens next and
the near future. Fate is not how you turn out it's where you end up, eventually six feet under. Character can change the outcome of one's life by the
decisions they make in keen times of their lives. Once an american poet named Heraclitus wrote that "character is fate", character can't save everyone
whether they are given less opportunity, a freak accident, or even chance. Humans are born into a world with disadvantages and hardships
unwillingly deserved. The earth is a cruel cruel place, that can even kill the brightest spirits hearts. One's character can effect the legacy they leave
on others but it struggles to affect one's destiny. One of my friends has a little brother, Trevor, with muscular dystrophy and autism. His life will
end rapidly not because of his character and fight, but because of his opportunity and the tools he was given with to succeed. The struggle many
people deal with is coping with knowing that there is one ending to your life. The constant fear of this ending is what drives people to live and
builds their character. Trevor did not deserve to have all these horrible actions to happen he just know has to valuing every second before his soul is

issues that has made a pause in many people's life. This issue is affecting more than being beneficial to our society, it is threatening many futures
that are in our society, including my future because I'm a DACA recipient. I was brought to America in 1997 when I was six years old and have
not seen my citizen country since then. Thousands of people are not asking for something impossible, we are just asking for an opportunity to
demonstrate that we can contribute to this country. DACA should be restored because the DACA recipients aren't breaking any laws and are
actively contributing to America. There needs to be a change discontinuing DACA because the whole society is being affected. Not to mention that
know we are uncertain of what is going to happen with us. The government has all our most current personal information and they can use it against
us. Parija Kavilanz in her essay says, "DACA students are worried. The clock is ticking" claims that there's a lot of people that are going to be
affected, "Negotiations had begun over how to protect nearly 800,000 immigrants who have sought a safeguard against deportation under the Deferred
Action for Childhood Arrivals program." Kavilanz is expressing that their people that are looking for ways on how to protect DACA recipients from
being deported. DACA gave us many benefits that are

My Passion For Service And Community
I was raised up believing in the importance of service and community as I saw my family members and neighbors selflessly help and be in
community with people in need. It is therefore no surprise that I discovered my passion for service and volunteerism while still young. In my
hometown Nairobi, Kenya, I did community service through various ways, including my involvement in the charity walk for Street Children and
Orphans in Kenya in 2003 and the 2007 Brookside Freedom from Hunger Campaign. I participated in the charity walk for these causes and helped
raise money to support street children, orphans, ending hunger, and was recognized as one of the top three people to raise the most funds. In high
school, I volunteered at the St. Nicholas Children's home in Kenya, where I served, played, and was in solidarity with the children. In 2013, I earned
the President's Bronze Standard award given to me by Honorable Mwai Kibaki, the third president of Kenya for being a young person equipped with
positive life skills and a change maker in my community, country, and globally.
Understanding where I have come from and how blessed I have been to have an opportunity to attend college is what drives me to excel academically.
It is also what makes me feel I must give back.
While at Xavier, I continued my passion for service by gaining leadership positions in various organizations, including the Students Government
Association; African Students' Association; Black Students' Association, and

Technology And Technology
The effect of the creation of the internet on individuals is hard to quantify. While it has led to many positive changes for society, many would argue it
has only complicated our lives, but the increased access to learning and cultural resources and information is difficult to ignore as a source of
self–improvement. In the essay "Project Classroom Makeover" Cathy Davidson discusses how students born in the information age interact differently
with learning because of their experiences on the internet. Thomas Lethem also posits that changes in our environment, like the creation of the internet,
change the art that we create in his essay "The Ecstasy of Influence: A Plagiarism." Even with these great resources, human nature does not always tend
towards the self–improvement made possible by the internet and humans often self–organize to avoid it. In the essay "The Myth of the Ant Queen"
Steven Johnson discusses how humans tend to group themselves up in ways that keep different types of people separate and aim to minimize personal
growth and improvement. Fighting against this human tendency towards complacency, the internet has created incredible opportunity for individuals
to improve themselves by learning and expanding their minds through access to global culture, free information, and instant social interaction without
borders. Despite this, many people have ended up in internet communities where they do not see global culture, are given false information, and have
interactions with only a very ideologically limited set of people. This can lead people to become more misinformed and hostile to ideas other than
their own, so to fully take the opportunity granted by the internet, individuals must push themselves to not settle into any such narrowly defined
community and to use the resources given to them. To understand why this self–motivation is so important, it is important to first understand how
much opportunity the internet and technology provide. The advent of advanced computing technology and the rise of the internet have made a wide
range of tools for self–improvement available for cheap or even free. One way that many of these tools allow for self–improvement is through
exposure to pieces of culture that

For Most People The Self Is Portrayed Differently Online,
For most people the self is portrayed differently online, compared to in person. The online individual is more likely to portray the images they
would like others to portray them as, compared to an individual's self in person. Having an online profile like a friend of mine, by the name of Zach
McDonald, gives his audience a sense of disbelief on how successful and happy he is. Compared to his in–person self, where he portrays an incomplete
and dissatisfied self. Not expressing all the values and attitudes that he portrays online, gives people the wrong impressions of who he really is. The
self–online and in person gives people an interpretation of a life that may not necessarily be the life of the individual you are analyzing. As a member ...

The Benefits Of Active Listening For A Counselling
Active Listening – listening to the words being said, the tone in which they are said and paying acute attention to the non–verbal communication. This
has many benefits it supports the client to feel understood, valued and accepted. This in turn will support the client to feel empowered. Active listening
supports the counsellor to understand what is being said and to identify the clients' thoughts and feelings. Active listening is a skill that needs to be
practiced and developed. Barriers to the process could include the environment for example external noise and interruptions may cause distractions. The
counsellor overthinking about how to respond to what is being said rather than actively listening, it takes practice to develop the ability to refrain from
doing this. Or the counsellor may pre–empt, move ahead in their own mind as to the direction in which the client is taking the conversation blocking the
ability to be open. The counsellor needs to be mindful or not allowing their own past experiences to cloud their thoughts and feelings towards the subject
which may inhibit the ability to actively listen to the client. Reflection –this strategy involves the counsellor verbally reflecting back their
understanding of what has been said and the feelings that have been displayed. This is a useful strategy as it supports the client to feel heard by
identifying and validating the clients feelings it gives them the courage to discuss these and explore them in further detail.

Personal Statement : ' Take A Deep Breath '
Personal statement
I'm pacing around, in retrospect,"Take a deep breath. I will be fine," that how I implied myself in my first exam when I was a freshman in college.
That was two years ago, how fast time flies. Thankfully, the college provided me ample opportunities to foster my passion, and the most precious
things I learned were about interpersonal skill. In that ensuing years, I won two kinds of scholarships and involved in several extracurricular activities
including performed in Global Fest, presented my Honor Program Project, volunteered in UW night market, and be an Economics subject tutor in
Tutoring Center. Ultimately, growing up in this environment encouraged me to keep moving forward to achieve my desired academic outcomes and...

Looking back, my undergraduate Business education in college has given me a great foundation to understand in that field generally and attracted me
to find my current goal, to push me on to the next step. This cannot be truer than in Economics, where world evidence is constantly changing every
day. With improving on these skills, I have taken charge of developing myself academically and professionally by remaining engaged, exploring all
viable options, and remaining committed to my dream to enter a business apartment. Overall, I strive to empower and equip myself with knowledge
through each visit with my tutee and the hope that we made together. I commit myself to extensive study and practice to master the skills of their
profession. Thinking about my college life so far, I am enthusiastic to help every student with my knowledge. At the same time, I was fascinated with
Economics since working in the tutoring center. The opportunity will allow me to continue to immerse myself in Business. This award encouraged
me to keep moving forward with my future Business Economics major study. What's more, that will help me further working and carrying out an idea
that I have been planning for a long time: to be an business economist. Now, I want to master the skills of Business Economics, work to improve the
processes of Economics practice, and successfully educate my clients so they are empowered to choose a better way.

Being A Teacher : My Experience Of Being A Teacher
As I logged onto my Facebook account last week, I received a notification saying that this time last year I was a Junior Knight Summer Camp
volunteer photographer. I was in total disbelief because this year I actually got the chance to teach rising sixth graders along with my other two cohort
members. I must say that being a "teacher" is completely different than being a "volunteer". As a teacher, you are held accountable for everything that
goes on in and out of your classroom that involves your students. I had the opportunity to be apart of the preparation process, build rapport with my
students, build great co–teaching relationships and develop my leadership qualities even further.
During the preparation process for camp, we had the opportunity to decorate the room, organize classroom materials and prepare lessons. We enjoyed
creating integrated lesson plans that involved science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM). To focus specifically on the
mathematics component, one of the lessons we created involved one of the world's most popular toys of today – the Fidget Spinner. Initially, we were
going to use a regular game spinner for our probability workstation but we wanted to make sure the students were engaged and having fun learning
math. The students had a task to export oil within the countries we focused on during the week. The students had to export oil from Venezuela to
Mexico, Brazil and Cuba but they could only take twenty trips a year. As a

Descriptive Essay About Going To The City
Leaving home to come to a city so far away for college was one of the hardest decisions that I've ever been faced with. I was excited at first, but when
the time came around of my leaving, nervousness started to come the surface. I was excited because this would be the opportunity for me to
spread my wings and leave the nest, but I was nervous because I had never been so far away from my family. I had always been in close proximity of
their reach. I was nervous because I would no longer be able to just run home and hide from my problems, I would have to face the real world, I
would have to face the things I've been sheltered from my whole life.
My decision changed on the regular basis, I never really had a set plan although I had visited the University of Cincinnati multiple times and I had
traveled around the city and I fell in love with it. I never saw myself moving across the city because of how sheltered I was but I knew that I
needed to break away. A day came where I decided to devote time to calculate the costs of each school to see which one would fit my financial
budget. I liked how the University of Cincinnati's tuition was relatively cheaper than my initial top choices. The final straw of making my decision
was that the city itself as well as the school was very diverse, which gave me a sense of belonging.
I gathered enough information to make me want to come to the University of Cincinnati, but I didn't gather enough information on calculating the
costs. I

The, And, By Ernest Holmes
Ernest Holmes addresses a trepidation we may have when giving: our resources will be temporarily depleted. It is common sense that the more we
give, the less we have; but there is a principle at work which defies common sense, because the appearance of loss and lack is deceptive. Once we
have sown a seed our hands are empty, but the soil is full and soon we will have our hands full with the harvest of that seed. If we had held onto that
seed, there would be no harvest and we would eventually be empty–handed. However, giving in a principled manner does not incur a loss, but gains.
Giving, as a matter of principle, is the difference between gaining more or having less. Of course, if we go through the motions of giving – appearing
to give, but actually throwing money away in an unprincipled manner, then we have simply wasted our time, and our treasure. Not every seed sown,
grows; some fall on hard, stony ground and never take root. Not every prayer is heard and answered; some fall on deaf ears – our own. Having ears,
we hear not. Having eyes, we see not. And having our hands full, we give not. It is a shame, because we could give, have and enjoy more.
DIMINISHED EXPECTATIONS
Holmes relates the responsiveness of Life to the idea that Nature abhors a vacuum. In an infinite universe, there cannot be an empty void, a place where
God is not. All space, all vessels, all containers must be filled with something. So, when something is drawn out of one place, more is drawn

Menace II Society Essay
Menace II Society, a film about a young Black man who has lived the "hustler" lifestyle and is struggling to leave it, is a perfect example of deviance
as the main character, Caine Lawson, and the characters around him violate many of society's norms. Throughout the film, the characters swear
incessantly, carry around guns and drugs as most people would carry around cell phones, commit street crimes, especially burglary and mugging, on a
regular basis, and beat and kill people unscrupulously. The following quote captures just how deviant Caine and the other characters in this film were,
"[Caine] went into the store just to get a beer. Came out an accessory to murder and armed robbery. It's funny like that in the hood sometimes. You never

However, he sees his only option of obtaining signs of wealth, like a nice car, are via street crime. Thus, Caine's deviance can be attributed to Strain
Theory as well. Caine takes the deviant path of an innovator in order to achieve cultural goals. For instance, he makes and sells drugs for money and
he mugs a man in order to get nice rims for his new car. Caine rarely shows any intention of using institutionalized means of achieving cultural goals–he
claims he was never fit for some boring job. However, it must also be considered that Caine was born into a family that belonged to an urban slum
and whose way of life had crime woven into it. Caine grew up watching his father and his father's friends deal drugs while rarely working normal
jobs. He claimed that he even learned how to make drugs from his father. As a result, it becomes evident that Caine had all the opportunity in the
world to be turned on to the life of a hustler since it was the same life his father led and that his friends would later live as well. In this way, Caine's life
is an ideal example of illegitimate opportunity theory since crime was fused into his way of life.
Growing up a young black man in an urban slum certainly did not deter Caine from deviating either. He grew up with the stigma of a young Black
man. This master status led Caine to believe that other people, specifically non–Blacks, always thought that young black men were always in trouble.
For example, when Caine

Military Retention Operations At The Army
Army Retention Operations At age four I knew that I would someday serve in the Armed Forces. I primarily focused on serving in the Army but
had a few distractions through the years. During the summer between my junior and senior year of high school, I decided it was time to talk to an
Army recruiter and evaluate my options. My only desire was to join the Army; I had not given much thought to what exactly in the Army I would
like to do. I had no idea or conception of an opportunity to serve in a position on the Army Staff at the Pentagon. After 19 years of service I was
given just that opportunity. While very stressful and a demanding work environment, Army Retention Operations was a valuable learning and
growing experience where I gained a strategic perspective of the Army through interaction with other governmental agencies and was able to
influence Army Retention policy. History and Selection to the Army Staff I served three years in the Army from June 1988 to June 1991 as a
Combat Engineer (12B). I then spent over four years experiencing civilian life and college. In March 1995 I reentered the Army with plans to make
the Army my career leading to retirement. I served my first eight years in the Army as a Combat Engineer. I discovered a desire for a different career
path in 1997 when I was required to reenlist for an assignment to Germany. While in Germany I sought out an additional duty as the Company

My Identity
I am truly proud of my background and how it has formed my identity. My background consists of me being Portuguese. I could not be any more
thankful for how greatly my background has impacted my life into what it is now. It has helped me gain many friends that I am still very close to
and gain interests that have started since I was a child. Simply experiencing my family's numerous customs and traditions is why I love to express
that I am Portuguese. It has given me the opportunity to visit Portugal every year during each summer where I fall in love with the country each
time. Being Portuguese has taught me many lessons throughout life that I will continue to pass on for future generations of my family. When I
visit Portugal, it is to see my family, mainly my grandmother, who lives in a very small town named Seara Velha. In fact, it is quite a poor town
with old houses and not much to do. Visiting this town has taught me truly shown me that people are not born with privileged lives. My father was
born and raised in this town where he started working from eight years old as a shepherd. I know I must work hard to get what I want in life
whether it is going to college, persuing my desired career of engineering, or simply playing well in a soccer game. I have learned that everything will
not just be handed to me. Visiting Portugal is more of a humble experience compared to a vacation. Ever since I can remember, soccer would always

My Personal Identity
Our backgrounds is usually what defines; my background is my identity. Everything about my life, my background and weirdly I would like to think
my future spells hardship. I on the other hand would like to think that my background prepared me for this. As I look on my childhood, I contemplate
what exactly made it enjoyable. Childhood should be simple but as for me, I was consumed with responsibilities, however hopeful for what the future
might hold for me. My childhood was instrumental (very significant) in shaping who I have become as a young woman: someone driven to succeed no
matter what the circumstances might be but who tries to be optimistic even in the face of failure.
At the age of 21 with no parents to guide me or assist I was frustrated with low–paying Jobs: clerk, receptionist, cashier, teller, house cleaning at times. I
must say that cleaning up after someone else or scrubbing someone else's toilet is non literal terms is a great way to inspire one to want to pursue
a better path in life, to obtain as high of an education as possible. I know many of my peers would look down at me or they do look down at me but
I know as a person that with my education in hand no one can take that away no matter what job I might engage in and I always have the choice to
change paths and to pursue a better living as many has in the past. I have an absolute commitment to earn a degree and I would love to get the

financial success) to return to what my wife and I described as our "nonprofit" roots. This was after a twelve–year period of starting, building,

Personal Ambition

  • 1. Personal Ambition Personal ambitions and goals have been influential within my life causing a major impact on the professional and personal connections that I have made within my community. Every morning when I wake up I am in a positive state of mind that can lead to completing my daily goals and finishes with the feeling of success. When starting the day striving to meet my goals gives me a sense of accomplishment through my personal ambitions. I find every goal that I attain assists me in reaching bigger and more desirable goals resulting in being a man with numerous trades and accomplishments. Having a positive reputation and a last name that others respect is very important in todays society resulting in strong connections socially and professionally by having strong personal relations skills. All the above things has given me the motivation to strive towards larger goals. Without reaching and accomplishing small goals you will not be able to succeed and reach for large goals which will can limit your ambitions. At the age of 12 I created my own little business with a simple plan and a goal of just making a small income by mowing lawns with my small Honda lawn mower. My plan aloud me to receive 80 dollars a month in the first year but steadily increased every summer because my customer base increased word of mouth and supply and demand. My financial gain has increased by 525 percent when comparing it to my first monthly income of 80 dollars a month. Challenges soon started to arise ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Essay On Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell (–– removed HTML ––) Seong Hyun Kim(David) ELA 11 Most people normally bring about personal qualities when they think for the main components of success. However, Malcolm Gladwell, a famous writer, contradicts the assumption of people through the book, Outliers. Gladwell insists that extrinsic factors define success rather than the personal qualities. Nonetheless, Gladwell himself goes against the topic of Outliers in his assertion about hard working "if you work hard enough and assert yourself, and use your mind and imagination, you can shape the world to your desires". Although people should work hard to seize the opportunity for success, success actually came from extrinsic factors because opportunity of relative age gives physical and emotional advantages through appropriate timing for birth, opportunity to raise under the concerted cultivation increases one's practical intelligence, and opportunity to fulfill 10,000 hours of practice guarantees time to achieve success at every field. For first reason to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To begin with, 10,000 hours of practice is known as the minimal time to become a master in their own field. It's important to have 10,000 hours of practice, but most of people can't fulfill 10,000 hours of practice because they do not have an opportunity to get 10,000 hours. In the case of Outliers, Gladwell exemplifies Beatles to show the opportunity to get 10,000 hours of practice. Beatles could fulfill 10,000 hours of practice in Hamburg for an opportunity to perform for 270 nights in just over a year and a half. Consequently, the Beatles became outliers in their music. The lesson from Beatles is that people should seize an opportunity to practice 10,000 hours at their field. Otherwise, the success doesn't approach to individuals. Therefore, the opportunity to fulfill 10,000 hours of practice challenges Gladwell's suggestion of hard ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Internship At Future Perfect Ventures My internship at FuturePerfect Ventures has been an incredible learning experience and a stepping–stone for a fulfilling career path. I have known that I wanted to pursue a career in financial communications before I even started the internship search process. My experience at FuturePerfect Ventures not only solidified my desire to work in this specific industry but also gave me the opportunity to build on my existing skills and allowed me to have first–hand experience in this area. Thus, my internship at FuturePerfect Ventures has been, in many ways, more than alearning experience but also what Nathaniel Kolac, the author of the Harvard Business Review article, "Build a Career Worth Having, refers as a valuable stepping stone, one of the many experiences that help create the path to a successful, fulfilling career. All of my previous internship experiences have allowed me to hone in on and strengthen different skills. In his article, Kolac stresses the importance of treating one's career like a "grand experiment" in order to develop a valuable career. My internship at FuturePerfect Ventures was certainly a "grand experiment" for me. While I was able to learn a lot about the financial industry, investing, and startups, I also I had to rely on the communications–related skills that I learned in my graduate classes and from previous internship experiences to help me because I was not interning for a communications team. Now that I've interned at FuturePerfect Ventures for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The American Dream Essay The American Dream. Three words that give hope to those who never imagined having it. Immigration isn't something that can be understood by those who never went through it; it's more than a term, more than some citizenship papers, more than a new country, it's a completely new life. I am the son of immigrants. That statement alone shakes me to my very core and lays a heavy burden on my heart. I will forever be indebted to my parents for all the sacrifices they've ever made, and will undoubtedly continue to make, for me. The very act of leaving behind family, friends, coworkers (essentially their entire lives) for the chance to create a better future for my siblings and me is one I'll never be able to fully grasp. Immigrating to a foreign land where to them, not a single word is understood or a rooted relationship has been made, is an honorable sacrifice by anyone's standards. Their sacrifice has been my unwavering motivation ever since I came to this country at five years old. Everything I have done, everything I am, and everything I will be has been the result of one decision that forever changed my life. My greatest goal is to one day be able to return this unmeasurable favor in any way I can, and the first step towards that is a great education, a concept that was planted in me at a very young age. There's a common knowledge among the children of immigrants – we have to achieve the American Dream. The American Dream is comprised of an incredible job, a luxurious ... • 13. What Makes A Nurse? When some think of a nurse, they tend to think about someone darting back and forth across a hospital – caring for those who are sick or injured. After all, isn't that how the Webster 's dictionary defines it as, "a person trained to care for the sick or infirm." However, a nurse is more than that. Anurse is a compassionate professional who assists in various medical environments with patients ranging from prior to birth through death. Individuals who are nurses, tend to be motivated, strong, compassionate, and determined to succeed. A nurse 's work to feel rewarded, not only for themselves, but all the patients they are able to help. Yes, nursing can be a demanding career, taking on life threatening responsibilities a doctor can not afford time for. On the other hand, it is a career that is very rewarding for those who truly desire to be in the field. "Why nursing?" is what many ask after you courageously tell them your future plans for college. To some it may seem as a common career to pursue – but to some of us, it is our calling. Our calling to help this continuously conflicted society. A society with a never ending epidemic of disease andillness . As frightening as it may sound to some, this is a responsibility that I wish to take on, for the ill and injured – as well as for myself. This belief however, was not the beginning nor the end to my decision. Like many others, I began my search for a career very young, swaying between the options of educating, designing, ... • 14. Encouragement: Eulogy For Grandmother E–––Encouragement Every person you know needs to be encouraged at some point. Everyone needs to have someone in their lives who is willing to listen to their stories and tell them they are loved. I can remember some of the most tender moments with my grandmother. We would just sit at her dinner table and talk. She would tell me what she was thinking–usually about special memories from her past. I would listen to her intently, as if I were hearing her stories for the first time. I knew it meant a great deal to her. But then came one of the most painful days in both our lives. My grandmother had a fatal heart attack during surgery. She left this world and entered her heavenly reward. While I was thrilled for her, I was sad as I realized that from then on, she couldn't say anything to me–not a word. Although it was extremely difficult to bear, I was so thankful we had not wasted the opportunities God had given us to express our love for one another. It gave me comfort to know we had not taken those times for granted. I was certain my grandmother understood how very much I cared for her. What about you? Is there someone in your life who needs to know how much you love him or her? Is there someone who would benefit from your kind words or listening ear? Has the Father impressed upon your heart others to whom you should minister? If so, I encourage you to make the most of the opportunities God gives you. • 15. False Imprisonment Without Legal Justification I.Can Steven Bender demonstrate that Stan and Linda Kremer ("Kremers") are liable for false imprisonment when they sent him to the downstairs basement with no access to phone service and would not allow his friends to come on to their property? False imprisonment occurs when there is confinement without legal justification. The elements of false imprisonment are the restraint of the plaintiff against his or her will and the unlawfulness of the restraint. When looking at restraint against his/her will the courts will look at whether the restraint was a total restraint of liberty with no opportunity to leave. Walker v. Hanke, 992 S.W.2d 925, 935 (Mo. Ct. App. 1999). This analysis will focus on whether Bender was restrained against his will. A.Was Steven Bender restrained against his will when the Kremers ordered him to go downstairs to the room he stayed in at their house withoutthe opportunity to call his friends or have the friends come over to help him move out? Courts hold that restraint occurs with the total restraint of liberty and no opportunity to leave. Id. In Walker, the court held that there was no confinement because there was no total restraint of the plaintiff's liberty. Id. at 936. The court found that the Hankes had built a fence around their yard at Mr. Walker 's request. Id. at 935. My Experience In My Life I started this experience in this class with my luggage which was empty of experience, but now, when this journey is almost close to an end, I am thankful for having had the chance of being part of such amazing class and course. I considered every single class as a "stop" where I had the chance to visit something new and get something which could remain in my memories and could be useful for my personal life. From the very first class I realized that this could have been a different experience. I agree when Lily, in the first class told us that using slides and books cannot be considered an experience from which you can take something to grow as a person. Therefore, from the beginning of this journey I took the opportunity to challenge myself and to especially defeat my fears. In fact, throughout my entire life I have been very emotional and rarely I was taking an initiative when I have to speak in public. When first I candidate for the CFO role, I was afraid of talking in front of everyone, but then I took this occasion to give a turnaround to this experience and in the end, I managed also to be elected. During my speech, I used a particular sentence "life is no made of grades, but of experiences" and I guess this class reflected perfectly what I was expecting. I was not expecting a grade from it, but rather to get something which possibly could help me throughout all my experience here in San Diego, but also for my life and working career. • 18. The Belonging Of A Community When thinking about a community, it doesn't matter what forms within however on a much greater scale. A community doesn't just consist of buildings, in fact, a community is brought together through the use of three different concepts; emotional belonging, connections within the community and thirdly relationships between one's self. These allow an individual to make a difference and allow for others to become inspired. To me, community means coming together to ensure one feels a sense of belongingness which in turns allows individuals to be themselves. Just like the quote "small acts, when multiplied by millions of people can transform the world" (Howard Zinn) This displays that when a community comes together as one that small act turns into something much more greater which results in a positive atmosphere. Once that positivity has arrived within the community, this allows people to unleash their personal power and become inspired to teach, to communicate, and to connect with many different groups of people in a diverse setting. "Belonging for young children is being a place where they feel comfortable enough to play without having to look over their shoulders seeking approval, or dodging disapproval, to explore without fear, to redefine their space and to use materials around them to create for themselves a sense of order, pattern and structure" (Bev Bos) This displays that in order for a child to feel safe, their community needs to be open and allow for mistakes ... • 20. Self Evaluation Motivates Performance Essay Self Evaluation Motivates Performance To demonstrate that the potential for self–evaluation can motivate performance, the potential for evaluation by external sources must be eliminated. As Bandura (1986) writes, "When environmental constraints are reduced, the influence of self–evaluative motivators becomes most self–evident" (p. 479). Thus, to determine whether the self–evaluative concerns suggested by social comparison theory motivate performance, one must ensure that people feel that they cannot be individually evaluated by an externalsource. Such control of external evaluation is made possible through the use of the social loafing paradigm (e.g., Latane, Williams, & Harkins, 1979). Social loafing refers to the finding that ... Szy@ manski and Harkins (1987) did exactly this in an experiment in which they asked participants to generate as many uses as they could (i.e., do–your–best instructions) for a common object, regardless of the creativity of those uses. Pilot work with this task showed that participants felt that they knew how many uses they had generated (their output). Therefore, to manipulate the potential for self–evaluation, Szymanski and Harkins either provided an evaluative criterion by telling participants that at the end of the session they would be told the average number of uses generated by participants in a previous version of the experiment, or Szymanksi and Harkins withheld the criterion by telling participants that to preserve confidentiality they would not be given this information. When the participants were provided with the evaluative criterion, they had an opportunity for selfevaluation by social comparison. This manipulation of the potential for self–evaluation was crossed with a manipulation of the potential for experimenter evaluation. Half of the participants were told that at the end of the session, the experimenter would come in and count the number of uses that they had generated (experimenter evaluation), whereas the other half of the participants were told that the experimenter was interested in average performance so their individual outputs would be pooled with those of ... Fate is controversial some might say it is just what happens next and the near future. Fate is not how you turn out it's where you end up, eventually six feet under. Character can change the outcome of one's life by the decisions they make in keen times of their lives. Once an american poet named Heraclitus wrote that "character is fate", character can't save everyone whether they are given less opportunity, a freak accident, or even chance. Humans are born into a world with disadvantages and hardships unwillingly deserved. The earth is a cruel cruel place, that can even kill the brightest spirits hearts. One's character can effect the legacy they leave on others but it struggles to affect one's destiny. One of my friends has a little brother, Trevor, with muscular dystrophy and autism. His life will end rapidly not because of his character and fight, but because of his opportunity and the tools he was given with to succeed. The struggle many people deal with is coping with knowing that there is one ending to your life. The constant fear of this ending is what drives people to live and builds their character. My Passion For Service And Community I was raised up believing in the importance of service and community as I saw my family members and neighbors selflessly help and be in community with people in need. It is therefore no surprise that I discovered my passion for service and volunteerism while still young. In my hometown Nairobi, Kenya, I did community service through various ways, including my involvement in the charity walk for Street Children and Orphans in Kenya in 2003 and the 2007 Brookside Freedom from Hunger Campaign. I participated in the charity walk for these causes and helped raise money to support street children, orphans, ending hunger, and was recognized as one of the top three people to raise the most funds. In high school, I volunteered at the St. Nicholas Children's home in Kenya, where I served, played, and was in solidarity with the children. In 2013, I earned the President's Bronze Standard award given to me by Honorable Mwai Kibaki, the third president of Kenya for being a young person equipped with positive life skills and a change maker in my community, country, and globally. Understanding where I have come from and how blessed I have been to have an opportunity to attend college is what drives me to excel academically. It is also what makes me feel I must give back. • 25. Technology And Technology The effect of the creation of the internet on individuals is hard to quantify. While it has led to many positive changes for society, many would argue it has only complicated our lives, but the increased access to learning and cultural resources and information is difficult to ignore as a source of self–improvement. In the essay "Project Classroom Makeover" Cathy Davidson discusses how students born in the information age interact differently with learning because of their experiences on the internet. Thomas Lethem also posits that changes in our environment, like the creation of the internet, change the art that we create in his essay "The Ecstasy of Influence: A Plagiarism." Even with these great resources, human nature does not always tend towards the self–improvement made possible by the internet and humans often self–organize to avoid it. In the essay "The Myth of the Ant Queen" Steven Johnson discusses how humans tend to group themselves up in ways that keep different types of people separate and aim to minimize personal growth and improvement. Fighting against this human tendency towards complacency, the internet has created incredible opportunity for individuals to improve themselves by learning and expanding their minds through access to global culture, free information, and instant social interaction without borders. Despite this, many people have ended up in internet communities where they do not see global culture, are given false information, and have interactions with only a very ideologically limited set of people. This can lead people to become more misinformed and hostile to ideas other than their own, so to fully take the opportunity granted by the internet, individuals must push themselves to not settle into any such narrowly defined community and to use the resources given to them. To understand why this self–motivation is so important, it is important to first understand how much opportunity the internet and technology provide. The advent of advanced computing technology and the rise of the internet have made a wide range of tools for self–improvement available for cheap or even free. One way that many of these tools allow for self–improvement is through exposure to pieces of culture that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Benefits Of Active Listening For A Counselling Active Listening – listening to the words being said, the tone in which they are said and paying acute attention to the non–verbal communication. This has many benefits it supports the client to feel understood, valued and accepted. This in turn will support the client to feel empowered. Active listening supports the counsellor to understand what is being said and to identify the clients' thoughts and feelings. Active listening is a skill that needs to be practiced and developed. Barriers to the process could include the environment for example external noise and interruptions may cause distractions. The counsellor overthinking about how to respond to what is being said rather than actively listening, it takes practice to develop the ability to refrain from doing this. Or the counsellor may pre–empt, move ahead in their own mind as to the direction in which the client is taking the conversation blocking the ability to be open. The counsellor needs to be mindful or not allowing their own past experiences to cloud their thoughts and feelings towards the subject which may inhibit the ability to actively listen to the client. Reflection –this strategy involves the counsellor verbally reflecting back their understanding of what has been said and the feelings that have been displayed. • 31. The, And, By Ernest Holmes Ernest Holmes addresses a trepidation we may have when giving: our resources will be temporarily depleted. It is common sense that the more we give, the less we have; but there is a principle at work which defies common sense, because the appearance of loss and lack is deceptive. Once we have sown a seed our hands are empty, but the soil is full and soon we will have our hands full with the harvest of that seed. If we had held onto that seed, there would be no harvest and we would eventually be empty–handed. However, giving in a principled manner does not incur a loss, but gains. Giving, as a matter of principle, is the difference between gaining more or having less. Of course, if we go through the motions of giving – appearing to give, but actually throwing money away in an unprincipled manner, then we have simply wasted our time, and our treasure. Not every seed sown, grows; some fall on hard, stony ground and never take root. Not every prayer is heard and answered; some fall on deaf ears – our own. Having ears, we hear not. Having eyes, we see not. And having our hands full, we give not. It is a shame, because we could give, have and enjoy more. DIMINISHED EXPECTATIONS Holmes relates the responsiveness of Life to the idea that Nature abhors a vacuum. In an infinite universe, there cannot be an empty void, a place where God is not. All space, all vessels, all containers must be filled with something. So, when something is drawn out of one place, more is drawn ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Caine takes the deviant path of an innovator in order to achieve cultural goals. For instance, he makes and sells drugs for money and he mugs a man in order to get nice rims for his new car. Caine rarely shows any intention of using institutionalized means of achieving cultural goals–he claims he was never fit for some boring job. However, it must also be considered that Caine was born into a family that belonged to an urban slum and whose way of life had crime woven into it. Caine grew up watching his father and his father's friends deal drugs while rarely working normal jobs. He claimed that he even learned how to make drugs from his father. As a result, it becomes evident that Caine had all the opportunity in the world to be turned on to the life of a hustler since it was the same life his father led and that his friends would later live as well. In this way, Caine's life is an ideal example of illegitimate opportunity theory since crime was fused into his way of life. Growing up a young black man in an urban slum certainly did not deter Caine from deviating either. He grew up with the stigma of a young Black man. During the summer between my junior and senior year of high school, I decided it was time to talk to an Army recruiter and evaluate my options. My only desire was to join the Army; I had not given much thought to what exactly in the Army I would like to do. I had no idea or conception of an opportunity to serve in a position on the Army Staff at the Pentagon. After 19 years of service I was given just that opportunity. While very stressful and a demanding work environment, Army Retention Operations was a valuable learning and growing experience where I gained a strategic perspective of the Army through interaction with other governmental agencies and was able to influence Army Retention policy. History and Selection to the Army Staff I served three years in the Army from June 1988 to June 1991 as a Combat Engineer (12B). I then spent over four years experiencing civilian life and college. In March 1995 I reentered the Army with plans to make the Army my career leading to retirement. I served my first eight years in the Army as a Combat Engineer. I discovered a desire for a different career path in 1997 when I was required to reenlist for an assignment to Germany. While in Germany I sought out an additional duty as the Company Reenlistment NCO in a desire to assist Soldiers and NCOs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. My Identity I am truly proud of my background and how it has formed my identity. My background consists of me being Portuguese. I could not be any more thankful for how greatly my background has impacted my life into what it is now. It has helped me gain many friends that I am still very close to and gain interests that have started since I was a child. Simply experiencing my family's numerous customs and traditions is why I love to express that I am Portuguese. It has given me the opportunity to visit Portugal every year during each summer where I fall in love with the country each time. Being Portuguese has taught me many lessons throughout life that I will continue to pass on for future generations of my family. When I visit Portugal, it is to see my family, mainly my grandmother, who lives in a very small town named Seara Velha. In fact, it is quite a poor town with old houses and not much to do. Visiting this town has taught me truly shown me that people are not born with privileged lives. My father was born and raised in this town where he started working from eight years old as a shepherd. I know I must work hard to get what I want in life whether it is going to college, persuing my desired career of engineering, or simply playing well in a soccer game. I have learned that everything will not just be handed to me. Visiting Portugal is more of a humble experience compared to a vacation. Ever since I can remember, soccer would always be on the television to watch ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Strengths And Weaknesses Of An Effective Assistant Strengths: – Dena gains agreement with the client to ensure they are on the same page. – After strong closing and foreshadowing the transfer (good!), Dena then goes on to set expectations for the client to leave a voicemail if the team member is unavailable. Including that it ensures a call back within 24 hours. Opportunities: – Strong intro. During her strong intro, Dena is sure to introduce herself, however, she misses the opportunity to greet the client using her name. It is important that we do this, in order to make the call more personable. Little did I know that there so many opportunities for me to get involved in college. I haven't done much in the club so far, but there are multiple opportunities for me to get involved in the future. I already met so many new friends through this club and I can tell these people will be my friends until the day we graduate from college. By going to some of the Collegiate FFA/Ag. Education meetings, I learned of different engagement opportunities and made new friends as well. The last engagement activity I would like to highlight is the Career Fair. I think so far the Career Fair is one of the most important events I have participated in. At this fair, students can talk with businesses and companies to discuss potential job opportunities and internships. The week leading up to this event, I didn't think there would be much to offer since I'm just an Agriculture Education major. Later that week, some speakers from Land O' Lakes spoke in one of my classes to inform us on what their business is all about and the job opportunities they have to offer. This really sparked my interest to at least talk to them at the career fair. Also, one of my friends talked to me about the new Agriculture Education internship at Riverview this summer. I did some research on this job opportunity and it is definitely something I'm interested in. If I did not attend the Career Fair and talk to the people I did, I probably would ... • 39. My Personal Identity Our backgrounds is usually what defines; my background is my identity. Everything about my life, my background and weirdly I would like to think my future spells hardship. I on the other hand would like to think that my background prepared me for this. As I look on my childhood, I contemplate what exactly made it enjoyable. Childhood should be simple but as for me, I was consumed with responsibilities, however hopeful for what the future might hold for me. My childhood was instrumental (very significant) in shaping who I have become as a young woman: someone driven to succeed no matter what the circumstances might be but who tries to be optimistic even in the face of failure. At the age of 21 with no parents to guide me or assist I was frustrated with low–paying Jobs: clerk, receptionist, cashier, teller, house cleaning at times. I must say that cleaning up after someone else or scrubbing someone else's toilet is non literal terms is a great way to inspire one to want to pursue a better path in life, to obtain as high of an education as possible. I know many of my peers would look down at me or they do look down at me but I know as a person that with my education in hand no one can take that away no matter what job I might engage in and I always have the choice to change paths and to pursue a better living as many has in the past. I have an absolute commitment to earn a degree and I would love to get the opportunity to do this at university. I have learned that If I try ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Transition Summary Two factors significantly influenced my career; 1) responding to my wife's (deceased) diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis, and 2) challenging financial performance of three organizations. Balancing responsibility to family and career were central to my decision making. Transition Summary The decision to leave the corporate environment in Chicago and join the Diocese of Fargo was based upon family values and the opportunity (due to financial success) to return to what my wife and I described as our "nonprofit" roots. This was after a twelve–year period of starting, building, acquiring, and selling several businesses. It was an exciting opportunity to utilize my corporate and estate planning knowledge by adding value to the community through work in philanthropy. Catholic Diocese of Fargo. My position, Executive Director, reported to the CEO, Jerry Adair. Fourteen months into my tenure at Good Shepherd, Mr. Adair died suddenly after being diagnosed with cancer (three weeks) in November of 2007. After his death, a national search was conducted for a new CEO. During this time my wife's challenges with MS increased, specifically with dementia. While the search for the new CEO was being conducted, the health system board decided not to bring in an interim CEO and the health system was managed by the Executive Committee of the board. At the completion of the CEO search, there was a change initiated by the Board. Members of senior leadership team (COO and CNO) including my position were changed before the start of the new CEO. I was informed that the new CEO had a different vision for the Foundation. I will admit to this being a very challenging moment in my career since the fundraising efforts were exceeding expectations for the capital campaign. I was offered and accepted a severance ...
