In the early 19th Century, the Manifest Destiny led many White Americans to conquer new
territories and force Native Americans out of their homeland. The growing population caused the
need for people to move to have more space for farms and crops. The religious groups were also
wanting to sweep God's word across the nation by going west. The Native Americans were
unwilling to give up their land and fought to keep it. Outmatched by the U.S. Military, the Indians
were forced to leave and settle in a territory that was not claimed by Whites. Andrew Jackson, the
8th President of the United States, participated in some of the battles with the Natives Americans
and the removal of 5 different tribes from their homeland into what is now Oklahoma.1 This

Jackson had been fighting Native Americans for their land before he became a president. In 1788,
Jackson and several white settlers tried to force the Cherokee Indians off their homeland in

The authors of the following poems; "Warning", "To His Coy Mistress", and short story, "The Story
of an Hour" express the significance of life and the importance of time itself. The reason why life
should be lived to the absolute fullest within the two poems and short story are varied based off the
main character's perspectives on life. Jenny Joseph expressed frustration about behavioral
expectations and excitement of growing old in her poem "Warning." Andrew Marvell emphasized
the long for lust in his poem, "To His Coy Mistress." Lastly, Kate Chopin shined light on the

powerful colors mentioned in these two lines symbolize the boldness she wants to have when she

Since the very first contact, the Native Americans have been treated as subordinates, being
mistreated, shamed, embarrassed, and oppressed by white settlers. After the Revolutionary War in
the late 1700's, matters only got worse for the Native Americans. Population was skyrocketing due
to a great deal of immigration of white settlers in the early to mid 1800's, and there wasn't enough
space for everyone. With this came expansion, and to reach the goals they had set out for it, the
Native Americans had to go. A prime example of this is shown in Howard Zinn's "A People's
History of the United States," where in chapter seven he talks about the forced removal of Native
Americans from their lands, carelessness and failure by the American government to protect, and
multiple slaughters carried out by the American military on the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Creek,
Choctaw, Sac and Fox, and the Seminole tribes. Closely related is "Bury My Heart At Wounded
Knee," written by Dee Brown, his writings from chapter thirteen focus on the Nez Perces tribe that
resided in Oregon, and their attempt at a journey in Canada, and other western Indian tribes' affairs.
To go along with Zinn and Brown, is Alan Brinkley's "American History," which posed an unbiased
view of what modern day textbooks are informing students across the nation about what happened

When we think about this today it seems ludicrous to us as modern people because politicians run
on improving infrastructures of states but Jackson's opponents greatly contrasted with improving the
infrastructure because for them the President's veto was nothing short of a Constitutional crisis.

The Characters Of Joseph Andrews And Richardson's Pamela
A parent reads a fairytale to their young child not only to let their imaginations flourish, but also to
protect their children from the world's harsh realities and to instill the idea of the good guy always
triumphing over evil, even though in actuality this is often not the case. Both Fielding's, Joseph
Andrews and Richardson's Pamela feature characteristics resembling that of a fairytale, such as the
idealistic endings or the astonishing coincidences, but these two novels are not something to be read
to an impressionable child. In Pamela the supposed prince charming is manipulative and sexually
abusive and in Joseph Andrews the heroes are not always fully benevolent, because Fielding's

Contrastingly, Fanny and Joseph prove their deep love for each other throughout the novel. Their
love is pure and is in no way tainted by questionable motivations; whereas. One could comfortably
compare Fanny's and Joseph's beautiful and passionate love to that of a fairytale. After Joseph's
initial attack and his prognosis of death, the first thought that came to his mind was Fanny. In a low
voice Joseph states, "I have thy dear Image in my Heart, and no Villain can ever tear it thence," in
regards to his beloved (Fielding 94). Instead of worrying about his own condition, Joseph mourns
over Fanny's reaction to his death, "neither in this world nor the next, he could forget his Fanny, and
that the Thought, however grievous, of parting from her for ever, was not half so tormenting, as the
Fear of what she would suffer when she knew his Misfortune" (Fielding 95). This loving and
powerful consideration proves Joseph's absolute admiration of Fanny. The actions of heroes in a
fairytale romance are typically provoked by a passion rooted from sincerity and true love, not a
passion grown from greed or lust. A fairytale like, The Beauty and Beast exhibits this type of
passion, Belle dedicates herself to the Beast by overlooking his frightening physical appearance
because of her deep love for his heart and for his love of reading and learning. There is less concrete

The next investment Carnegie joined was with William Coleman in the oil business. They made a
substantial amount of money but Carnegie grew tired of the messy and chaotic state of the business

the Keystone Bridge Company. Carnegie had been convinced that the trend in railroading was
