1. In all of the films that I have looked at they
all have a similar pattern. They start with
the production company and/or the film
companies. Amadeus has no production
companies shown. However in Quantum
of solace the directors name is shown
before the main title which is shown in all
the other openings. In St Trinians the main
few of the cast is shown before the title
then the rest are shown afterwards. Once
the cast has been listed then the other
names are use such as the director,
producer, written by, etc.
The James Bond films are different from
the others because they have a big
opening sequence.
2. In Cabin in the woods we are introduced into a
dark legend type of theme where Egyptian type
drawings are shown covered in blood the it
switches to a different scene where 3 character
are introduced in a work type setting talking
about their work and everyday lives then the
scene switches again to a teens bedroom
indicating that she is the main character. This is
very different contrasting to Pride and Prejudice
where a beautiful countryside is shown and you
see the main character straight away reading
her book suggesting that is she is very
intelligent but innocent. P&P moves swiftly
along the storyline whereas Cabin in the woods
is very fast paced trying to tell the audience
about all of this information.
3. In Amadeus the writing is in a light blue colour this
suggesting the coldness of that era and how the
winter, dark setting relates to it. Some of the letters
where slanted suggesting that there is something
bad happening or something bad about to happen.
Whereas is St Trinians the font is childlike suggesting
that it’s a film suited to children/teens or about them.
Also the background is pink suggesting the films a
teen flick about girls. In Kung Fu Panda the font is
very cunning but playful you can tell it’s an animation
film and it shows comedic action. In Quantum of
Solice the first text you see is the translation which is
shown is normal text. Then the location is shown as
Siena, Italy which is shown in posh swirly writing to
show the history of the place and how old and fragile
Siena is.
4. In Amadeus shouting is used a lot to show the distress of which I think is the
main character. After the shouting there is the sound of Orchestra music playing
suggesting the era of the film. You can kind of relate this to P&P as the music is
from the same genre but very natural in the way of birds singing and the water
flowing. Both Amadeus and P&P are set in the time of elegance and they both
have the sense of dressing smartly but also the peasant lifestyle. Cabin and the
woods has a very moody soundtrack at the start but then switches to light music
when the gentlemen are talking and then switches again when the teens are
shown (upbeat pop music) this I think was used because they wanted to set the
scene as a horror flick but show the everyday life of the people that are the main
focuses of the movie. In Kung Fu Panda calming Chinese music is used this
clicks to the audience as this is all about the martial arts of China. As the scene
changes into a more of an action scene the music changes to show the
seriousness of the fight good against evil. In St Trinians the theme song is used
so the audience knows that the film is about the notorious girls. This sets the
scene because we are in Anabelle's shoes as we have no idea what is going to
happen. In Quantum of solace we are thrown straight into the action with no
music playing it’s not until the fight is over and the main character is in Siena
until we hear music with the opening credits
